A Woman's Worth 3 Page 11

by Jahquel J.

My dance studio was finally opened and I already had classes reserved. I planned to have children classes in the future. Me and Reshawn are great since he got his side bitch phase out of his blood. He needed to see I wasn’t one to play with, in order to cut ties. I was once a side bitch so I knew how these hoes got down. His ass called me Miranda, but I think it was to get on my nerves. He couldn’t keep his hands off of me now. He wanted sex all the damn time and I couldn’t keep up. Secretly, I tried to get pregnant for a daughter. The loss of my daughter was one I don’t think I would be able to get over. I know Reshawn had Madison, but I wanted a daughter too.

I went from being a side chick to being the main chick. Usually side chicks didn’t win and I hate to call myself one but, I was. I believe Karma has knocked on my door a few times and got my ass back. All my bad times were lessons for the future. I wanted to be a good mother for my boys. AJ got so big and he and MJ were like twins. Those green eyes were the thing that made me think of Tone. I would never feel bad for killing my son’s father. I will never apologize and if I was given the opportunity again, I would do it.

I loved my kids, man, and family. I thanked God above for letting me live this life with the ones I love. I also thank him for saving me from the strip club. Tone was a blessing in disguise and I am now able to see that. Even though I still hate his guts. That’s all for now.

  Love and fish grease, Mezzie.

“Mommy I like it here,” My son giggled while splashing in the pool.

“Me too, Papi.” I smiled and finished watching him splash.

If someone told me this is where I would be a couple months ago, I would have laughed and slapped them out their seat for being funny. I would have never thought we would have three houses. Two in different states and one in another country. I didn’t think I would see Nard walking again and smiling. He was about business, but he made sure to be more family oriented. As for his cousin Malik. We didn’t show up for the funeral and it was clear to Nard’s family how he felt. His mother didn’t understand how cousins got this point, however, when Nard moved her ass in the guesthouse behind our house, she dropped the subject. My ass wasn’t shaking my ass in the club anymore. The only time I was shaking something was in Mezzie’s studio. All my ass shaking was for my husband. Yes, we tied the knot a couple days before our trip to Trinidad.

After all we been through, his ass better had married me. Shit, I went through the ringer. I still had flashbacks of Tone’s dead ass between my legs. As far as expanding our family, I wasn’t about to be spitting out no more kids. Our son was our world and he had enough play cousins to never get bored. Nard made so much money that we got into real estate to wash that money. You know I’m in the mall almost every day with his black card. Some things never change.

Blackmail is a nasty thing and could have gone wrong for me. It’s about who you know and I thank my lucky stars Nard knew Moses. If he didn’t, we would have been dead. Like I said, New York is small, especially in the drug world. Everybody knows everyone. It takes a real man to put you on. And that was what Moses’s was. Everything he promised, he did. I owed my life to him.

Keyshia was back in the hood and calling me like every day. I sent her money whenever she asked for it. She was saving her money up to come live in Miami. She said she wanted to look for a baller in Miami. I think she and Jahquel J. was in talks about a spin-off called Can’t Leave ‘em Alone. However, I was proud of my girl and wished her nothing but the best.

“Alight, Dalia. You can go ahead with the girls to the mall. I’m gonna spend some time with my little nigga,” Nard said coming from inside the house.

“Yes, I’m out. Bye, baby boy,” I kissed my son.

  “Bye mommy.”

“I need some money, babe,” I impatiently held my hand out.

“Here, gold digging ass,” he smirked.

“But, you love this gold digger,” I replied and headed out the door.

Ain’t nothing changed, I still love to shop. Later, Dalia.

  Moses

  Seven months later…

I held my beautiful daughter and looked into her dark brown eyes. She looked just like her mean ass mama. She looked up at me like she knew what went on. She was a fat ass baby too. Weighing eight pounds seven ounces. I bounced her around the room while Tyrisha got some sleep. She had a hard labor and she screamed everything but Jesus name during her delivery. Aszia Renee Ellis was my baby girl the moment her cubby face hung out Tyrisha’s pussy. I looked up as my father walked into the room. He looked at his granddaughter and beamed with pride. He took hold of her and observed her. He kissed her face and handed her back.

“She’s beautiful, Mohammad. You did a good thing,” he spoke.

  “Thank you, Pops. Where’s MJ?”

“Oh, the ladies’ man? He’s in the hallway with the rest of them,” he laughed.

“I’m going to have trouble with that boy,” I chuckled. I placed my daughter back into the bassinet.

Tyrisha gave birth in Trinidad. I wanted my father to experience the birth of my first official child. MJ was mine no doubt, but the way he came into the world wasn’t anything to celebrate. Soon as Tyrisha was in labor, everyone rushed here to be by our side. Call us what you want, but we came running for each other. Tiffany was the first to enter the room. She ran over and kissed Tyrisha’s forehead. She was knocked out and didn’t wake up. She picked our daughter up and showered her with kisses. Tears were spilling from her eyes as she looked at our baby girl.

  “She’s beautiful, Moe,” she whispered.

“According to her mother, it’s because of her. So, I had no parts,” I joked and she laughed.

Reshawn, Mezzie, and Dalia piled in the room next. Everyone went crazy over the baby and wanting to hold her. MJ got jealous, so I decided to spend a few seconds with my baby boy.

“Mohammad, everything I do for you and your sister, it’s because I love you,” I whispered in his ear. I knew he didn’t understand but, in due time he would understand the Ellis name was powerful.

“Hell naw, get off my baby!” I heard Tyrisha’s loud ass mouth yelling. “She ain’t even a day old and y’all touching her.” She smacked her gums.

“Who woke loud mouth up?” Lace walked in the door with Epiphany. He had flowers and teddy bears.

“Who invited the freak?” Tyrisha rolled her eyes and returned Epiphany’s kiss.

She and Lace had made up months ago. Although, she still told me she kept a close eyes on his ass.

“Alight, bye y’all. We’ll be home in a couple days.” I dismissed everyone and it was just me, my wife and our daughter. She looked up into my eyes and I kissed her.

“Thank you baby for believing in me,” she sighed and kissed me.

“Like I said, I love you to death.”
