Monroe, Melody Snow - Bodyguards of Pleasure [Pleasure, Montana 8] (Siren Publishing Ménage Everlasting) Page 21

“Well, you’ve been with those two handsome men for quite some time. I know if I were holed up in their house for that long that I’d have been in bed with them.”

“Mo-om. Besides, people wear condom these days.” This was not a conversation she wanted to have to have with her mother. Tell her. “Okay, fine. I might be.” She winked.

Her mother beamed. “I couldn’t be happier.”

Having her mother’s blessing meant the world to her. “So, you’re okay with me being with two men?”

  “Are you happy?”

  “Totally.”

  She grinned. “Then I’m ecstatic.”

She hugged her mom. “Thank you.”

Brooke grabbed the two beer bottles and walked them out to the living room, and handed the drinks to her men.

Riley leaned over her. “You okay?”

  “I’ll tell you later.”

One of Chelsea’s kids laughed. Without thinking, she placed a hand on her belly. Even if she was pregnant, it would be weeks before she knew for sure. Riley motioned she join him on the sofa. From there, she could enjoy watching everyone.

Her father looked up at Gavin. “So what are you two going to do now that the bad guys have been caught?”

He smiled. “The man who killed his mule is in jail, but his organization is large. While they did have a warehouse in Bozeman that has now been shut down, it doesn’t mean they’ll leave us alone forever. There is no shortage of bad guys.”

“Amen,” Justin added. “There will always be crime.”

Her mother busied herself in the kitchen, so Brooke wandered back in. “Can I help you with anything?”

Her mother stepped in front of something. “No. Go out to your men.”

That was a bizarre reaction, but she did as her mother asked. When she returned, Luke and Preston were each holding a child. Everyone had their backs to the fireplace, looking at her.

She straightened her glasses and smoothed her hair. “What? Do I have a stain on my shirt?” She looked down to check.

Riley and Gavin stood and faced her, too.

“What’s going on?” From the way everyone was smiling, it wasn’t bad news.

“We asked your mom to call this gathering as a celebration.”

“I know. You catching Harrison Kaplan is a reason to celebrate.”

Gavin looked over at Riley. “Shall we?”

He grinned and nodded. Both men got on their knees. The sight of them in such a submissive position wasn’t lost on her.

Riley pulled out a box. “You know how much we’ve come to love you. You might still have some doubt, so we decided to give you this now.”

He handed the blue velvet box to her. She cracked it open and gasped. There in the center was a large diamond ring, surrounded by five smaller diamonds. “It’s incredible.”

Gavin’s eyes shone. “Riley sucks at this.” The room laughed. “Will you, Brooke Armstrong, do us the honor of marrying us?”

If her mom didn’t happen to be standing behind her, Brooke might have dropped to her knees. Her mother grabbed her arm to steady her.

  “Well, Brooke? Answer the men.”

  “Yes, yes, and yes!”

Her pulse beat so fast she had a hard time getting enough oxygen to her brain. First her men each delivered mind numbing kisses, then Ceci, Lydia, Chelsea, Sarah, and the rest of the men congratulated her.

“Let’s have some cake everyone,” her mother announced.

Brooke turned around. Her mother had carried in a cake that said Happy Engagement in pink frosting.

  “You knew?”

She grinned. “Your men came, each at different times, to speak with us. They asked for your hand.”

So that was why her mom thought she was pregnant. Never in her wildest dreams did she think she’d get married before the brilliantly beautiful Ceci.

She looked over at her sister, who was flushed with color. From the way she was stealing glances at Dylan and Gabe, it wouldn’t be long before her sister followed her. If all went well, maybe the two of them could share a wedding day in the spring. Now that would be a dream come true.

Her mother handed her a much-needed glass of water. Brooke held it up. “To my bodyguards. Welcome to Pleasure.”

  ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Unlike most other authors, I started writing late in life. Writing stories in high school and college was not for me. Only after I graduated did I fall in love with romance novels. For the next twenty years, I read voraciously. It got to a point where my book-buying habits cost as much as my groceries. At that point, my husband suggested I write a book. Hey, it looked easy, right? All the stories started in the same spot (hero and heroine at odds) and ended the same way (happily ever after). Only it was anything but easy. Eleven years and fifteen completed romantic suspenses later, I finally published. I never would have gotten that far had it not been for two local chapters whose generous members shared their amazing wealth of knowledge.
