Taking a deep breath, “Furthermore, I have no real interest in technology. I am a gifted singer and I love music. I have written one of this band's greatest hit singles already and now we are possibly on the way to becoming the greatest band of this decade, possibly this century.”
At this time, Yan folded his hands and rested his chin on his thumbs, his fingers overlapping beneath his nose as he purposefully listened, not looking at anything specifically.
“And you never once asked me what I wanted out of life, and when I told you, you always ignored, side stepped interfered and generally prohibited it.
“I have so many times thought to my self, 'I can't wait until I am an adult so I can leave this prison and find my own way.'
“I do not have a death wish, but a life wish. I wish to live, and live well mama, and you two are not allowing me to.”
Yui was in a state of total flabbergasted shock, and Yui just sat there with a very calm, almost blank expression, staring fixedly at a spot somewhere on the wall between the two girls.
Finally, he lifted his head off his hands, looked across at both of the two girls, took a deep breath, let it out, and said, “This is something I feared was happening,” then looking at a bowl of Chinese garlic fried potatoes which was obviously growing cold, pulled it toward himself, and said, “I don't have an easy solution,” scooping out some onto his plate then passing it to Margaret, “But as a family, I have to figure out some kind of workable accommodations, seeing as your mother and I do not wish to lose you in any sense of the word.
“You have given us much to think on,” he said, pulling a bowl of green beans over and repeating the task, “I admit, I do not presently know the solution to this situation, but I am willing to try,” passing this bowl also to Margaret who had already passed the potatoes to Jacqueline, “as long as you are willing to work with me in this,” grabbing the egg rolls, “and stop sneaking around behind out backs from now on.”
“Yes papa,” they both replied at once, getting a surprised expression from everybody, but most of all, from Margaret herself for suddenly saying the word!
Ep 15, Chapter 6
After dinner, the girls went back to Jacqueline's room and resumed doing their homework, since they had not completely finished before dinner.
“I can't BELIEVE I just said that! Margaret whispered, embarrassed.
“Its probably the best thing anybody has ever said to him in all of this if you think about it,” Jacqueline commented.
“You SURE you're not more complex than you let on?” Marge leaned over and murmured with a conspiratorial look in her eyes, eyebrows upraised.
“Nope,” she replied matter-of-factly, “This is the top rung of my ladder dear,” she replied, “You're getting' the best of it right here and now baby doll.”
“Geez...you sound so mature.” Margaret replied.
“Maturity and intellectual capacity are not the same thing Margie pie.”
“Damn.” she shook her head in astonishment, “You sound so grown up, and yet some times you come across as so simple and childlike.”
“Can't explain it my love,” Jacqueline shrugged, “it just is what it is.” then bent over and started writing the next answer.
Episode 16
“What You Say And Do May Come Back To Haunt You”
“Governor Bodenheimer's office, may I help you?” the secretary asked.
“Hi,” came a soft, feminine voice, “I want to send you some information which I just KNOW will help the governor's election campaign in '29!”
“Oh?” the lady asked, “What would that be?”
“If you will type in this address, http://214.213.0.83 and press play, you can see for your self, okay? Thank you...” the soft sweet voice ended with a click.
“Hmmm...” the woman, who, on much closer inspection looked remarkably like the secretary at the Mary Lee-Ellingsworth Girls' Academy said, then, just out of curiosity she typed in the address and pressed the 'play' button.
What she saw in the next five minutes and seven seconds of video made her gasp, covering her mouth and dash for her employer's office door.
Ep 16, Chapter 2
“What is the meaning of this?” Edward S. Bodenheimer asked standing in front of Yan's desk, furious and yet sweating profusely despite the air conditioning in the office of the CEO.
“Pease do have a seat Mr. Governor sir.” Yan smiled so politely, dressed up in a rather feminine kimono and with traditional Japanese makeup a geisha girl would be wearing, “It has been SUCH a long time since we last sat together, don't you think?” he said in an unmistakably woman's voice, gesturing to the plush leather seats before his desk, “Could I get you some tea perhaps? Or maybe something strong -”
“Look Yam -” he coughed, “Yan Shunokoi, I don't know what you are up to right this moment but I -” he froze as Yan pulled up the photo he had shown to the girls the night before.
In an eerie old woman's voice, Yan said, “You mess with my family,” peering over his professionally crafted rectangular rimmed glasses, “And you will not see another term in office.”
Edward Bodenheimer knew he had been caught.
“I-I-I-th-th-th-” he tried to deny it but Yan cut him off.
“I've made my point Mr. Ed.,” his voice came out like the growl of an angry squirrel, “Now GET OUT!” and he pointed at the door with an arrow straight arm.
Ep 16, Chapter 3
Yan called Anna that evening from work.
“Hello, Shunokoi's residence.” she said, even though she knew where it was coming from, just in case the girls were listening.
“Yes?” she paused, “Well THAT is wonderful news Mr. -” she began, then realized she had blown her cover, “Yes, I will tell them right away!...Okay, will you be in for dinner tonight sir? Very well then I will set two plates for you on the counter. Okay, goodbye.” then up to the bedroom she called, “Girlssssssss!”
Ep 16, Chapter 4
“What was that all about?” Jacqueline came down the stairs first, wearing of all things, floppy eared bunny slippers and a floppy eared bunny suit pajama which Margaret had bought for her just that afternoon at the mall.
“Why don't YOU look adorable darling!” Anna lit up at the sight.
“Thank you Anna,” Jacqueline replied and hugged the maid, “but what did you want us for?” looking up with her unfocused eyes.
“Your dad called and wanted to thank you two for accidentally bringing some closure on an old wound.”
“Oh wow.” Marge said, “Huh.”
“How did we do that Anna-san?” Jacqueline asked in a slow, drawn out, childish manner, despite already hearing everything that was previously said due to her super hearing.
“Well, little Miss Bunny-rabbit-san,” she leaned over and smiled, “It seems you broke some kind of secret or decoded something or another which led to some kind of long running situation, I'm not totally sure of the details my self, but in any case, it seems to have made Mr. Bunny-rabbit-sama very happy today!”
“Oh...” she stood there as if thinking about it a minute, then suddenly raising her little hands over her head she exclaimed, “I'm hungry!”
“My you are SUCH an enigma!” Margaret mused to herself as she shook her head in amazement at the child.
Ep 16, Chapter 5
There was a show that Saturday night at The House of Blues in Hollywood and they were the last show of the evening.
This was going to be a pinch because it was scheduled to run past midnight.
“I know its past ten o'clock Mr. Shunokoi sir,” Margaret pleaded, as they sat at the family dinner table the preceding Friday evening, “But we're the main act in this one and that alone would boost the band's status like ten notches on the charts!”
“But its in an establishment where minors are not allowed,” he protested.
“But I'm there -” she began.
“I don't know how you do that, and you are not my responsibility. Jacqueline is.

“But can't you have Anna chaperone or something?” she pleaded, “Other acts have legal guardians and such if they are under aged, it happens all the time!”
“I don't know about any of that.” he replied, his voice wavering with doubt and worry, as his hand shook and a piece of bok choi in his chopsticks flung droplets of sauce out onto the tablecloth.
“You want that I should go listen to you play raucous music?” Anna asked looking sidelong at the rock star with a note of distaste in her voice.
“Rock music Anna, gothic rock specifically.” Margaret tried to correct her.
“To me it is all raucous.” she fluttered her eyelids in disgust as she looked back across to Yui and Yan who had basically sat there quietly chewing, despite the nervously trembling hands, “Why you can't learn something civilized like Tchaikovsky or Rachmaninoff?”
Margaret sighed heavily in defeat, slumping into her right hand while picking at peanut chicken with her left.
“I know!” Jacqueline exclaimed like a toddler, “Mama and papa, you can come with us!” as she raised her chopsticks with a piece of peanut chicken on it, then tipping her head back in a very childish manner, opening her mouth to drop it in and saying, “Ahhh-unnnnngg!” as she rudely chewed with her mouth partly open.
Both parents reflexively burst out into laughter.
“Oh Jaqui-chan!” Yui dropped her chopsticks and daintily clapped her hands, “I just don't know what I would do without you!”
Ep 16, Chapter 6
The crowd screamed, lights flashed, and the curtains rose.
Yan and Yui sat in the VIP box seats provided for them and watched with bated breath as their little angel was about to perform.
Having never seen this act before, they had only trepidation.
They waited as the lights went down low, and the band leader stepped into the spotlight.
“Hello everybody!” she cried out over the mic, “How you all doing tonight?”
The crowd of course cheered in response, “I don't know if you all have met our newest band member here yet, so I want to introduce you all to my lovely girlfriend Bunny!” the crowd cheered wildly.
“At least she is open about their relationship,” Yan said wistfully.
As the young maiden came out into the spotlight, tonight she wore a glittering sapphire blue gown which hugged her curves lusciously, and she had on makeup, which her parents had never before seen her wear.
“She looks so grown up!” Yui gasped.
“I'm glad they lent me these little binoculars –“ raising them to his bespectacled eyes, “hhhhhhhhhhhh!” Yui sucked in a deep gasping breath as he focused on his daughter, “Oh my gooooooood!” his eyes bugged out.
Bowing deeply, Jacqueline's cleavage swing ponderously before her, but despite being on such small feet as she had, she had a supreme sense of balance and did not topple over.
As the band musicians began to play a new tune they had been practicing, Jacqueline herself, in her chirrupy little voice, announced, “Tonight, I want to introduce our newest song,” she said, and had to pause as the crowd burst into cheering again, “a song I wrote a long time ago,” her voice caught on her own emotions for a moment, “a song that expresses a lot of what it is to be young, and feel trapped, and to suddenly see changes all around you, which throw your previous life into question while promising you the hope of everything you ever dreamed of. The name of this song is 'Falling To My Death' and I hope all you enjoy.”
The title made her parents gasp in shock but they sat there transfixed as the lights changed tone and their child seemed to suddenly undergo some form of magical transfiguration before their eyes, and the following song proceeded to flow from the little angel's lips:
I'm just a child, but you opened my eyes
I'm overwhelmed by the limitless skies
I now have wings, I can suddenly fly
Yet if I fall I will certainly die!
I can't believe all the things you have shown
All of these things I would never have known
All the places that we two have flown
In this icy wind where the future is blown!
When I'm without you, I can't hold my breath
I'm so afraid I'll fall to......my......deathhhhhhhhhh...
(at this point the tempo increased, and additional instruments entered in, filling out the musical texture)
Here I stand on the edge of this world
I have my armies, my banners unfurled
I am a princess yet I am a girl
And you drove me here to the edge of this world
And now because of this love I will break every rule
And never did ask to come and battle this duel
And you know that this love is fateful and cruel
Don't make me fall to my death because
I.....love......youuuuuuuuuu!
Can you not hear me, I'm screaming my love
Won't you come near me, I'm dreaming of love!
Please do not fear me, I'm beaming with love,
I am sincerely, in need of your love!
And now because of this love I will break every rule
And never did ask to come and battle this duel
And you know that this love is fateful and cruel
Don't make me fall to my death because
I.....love......youuuuuuuuuu!
As with her first worldwide hit, the crowd was stunned into silence at first, but soon broke into wild screaming, cheering and whistling.
The band went on to perform their normal routine, and finally closed with 'Nearly Every' where the two performed their duet and kissed.
Only tonight was different.
“Well ladies and gentlemen...” Margaret began, “and the members of the audience here tonight,” this made the crowd cheer but also laugh, “Tonight, as this is the first of many new things,” she paused, getting choked up, a slight tear gleaming in her eye caught in the spotlight, “and tonight, in front of you all here, you who made all of this possible, for Tammy, Julie, Lily, Rachel, Bunny and me,” she looked around trying to keep her composure
“And also tonight,” she said, pointing up overhead, “I want you all to say hello to my two wonderful future parents-in-law, Mr and Mrs. Yan Shunokoi!”
The two parents both gasped, and placed their hands over their mouths, as a spotlight came on them both.
“These two are the most awesome parents I have ever had the honor and privilege of knowing,” turning to Jacqueline, “the parents of my fiance, Jacqueline Marie 'Bunny' Shunokoi,”
Yui gasped at the word fiance, Yan convulsed slightly as a seemingly childish giggle tried to come from his lips. Seconds later tears streamed down and streaked his mascara.
Yui was not far behind, but had the presence of mind to pull out a tissue and dab Yan's eyes and cheeks, minimizing the 'damage.'
Margaret, with incredible grace, on her immense platform boots, lowered quickly to one knee while producing a small box and popping it open before Jacqueline, said, with the mic in one hand and a giant sparkling diamond ring which glistened so much even blind Jacqueline could see something dazzling before her, “Jacqueline Marie Shunokoi, this night, in front of all these people, I ask: will you marry me?”
Both parents fainted while the crowd thundered with applause.
Episode 17
“What Do You Say When Your Child Does That?”
Yan and Yui had revived by the time Margaret and Jacqueline had gotten upstairs to the VIP seats.
It was a long quiet ride home in the limousine however.
Yan and Yui were sitting there quietly, lost in thought, as was Margaret, they looked at each other as if they were telepathically saying things, but they were each thinking their own thoughts.
Jacqueline was sound asleep on Margret’s lap, snoring softly and drooling into a napkin.
The ring, for the sake of safety had been a mock up, both because the original was very costly and bec
ause it had never been properly sized for Jacqueline's dainty fingers.
Instead, Margaret had used a simple old trick of wrapping the back of it with yarn.
As the show had ended, she had proudly flashed the ring before the cheering crowd before giving Margaret the longest public kiss yet.
