Their eyes were on Eliza and Pathway Industries and they weren’t particularly fond of what they stood for. Whatever progress Eliza was making toward a better and more promising future for everyone, those who considered themselves her enemies were fruitlessly doing their best to undermine her efforts. It began with declarations that “Pathway Industries was an evil passive-aggressive oligarchy full of fake and nice people trying to build up a huge monopoly,” and all in an effort to create a negative stigma around the true aspects of Pathway Industries.
Talk show hosts who were part of the established network, much to their chagrin, were cajoled into making comedic gaffes of Pathway Industries and any of its subsidiaries. Science fiction films were made demonstrating how their technologies and sciences were evil. Preachers were preaching that misery, suffering, and death were a necessary part of our existence, yet they weren’t fond of learning from the past, and for some reason, Pathway Industries was against them, so, therefore, Pathway must be evil and even unethical. The irony, of course, was on them, for they had little idea nor compunction toward the thought of what ethics were, save to enhance their own selfish gains for no reason other than to maintain influence and affluence alone.
Nevertheless, the statistics were there and did not lie, a majority of the work centers that were not a part of Pathway Industries were downright toxic, and the establishment only had itself to blame. Their corporations and companies had workplace environments and management styles that resulted in many who had sold their ethics for promotions and acted in such an inhospitable way so as to demonstrate a network setup to canvas the populous of the people and appoint those who had no compunction toward throwing others under the bus as superiors, just to make a few extra dollars or to score a title to make themselves feel more important than their peers.
Many people outside of Pathway Industries who thought they were in a position of status would puff their chests and act as though they were entitled to subservient respect and would disrespectfully talk down to the people they viewed as beneath them. This behavior was prevalent all the way through to the highest offices in the land. The good people of the world were enslaved, and Eliza knew this was not right or even correct and had to be changed. Something was truly ailing within their minds, and in so many ways she did not blame them—they too were slaves of their environment.
Notwithstanding all, Eliza and every fully read-in member were mighty of mind and were iron-cast in their fortitude to continue doing the right thing. They ran positive campaigns rather than try to destroy their competitors through toxic parlay, and they began to set up a meeting to meet with some of the World’s most powerful and affluent individuals to reduce this growing problem. They would pull all the stops to dazzle the leaders and this meeting would be held in a large auditorium at Pathway Industries’ large Melrose Campus.
Every member of Pathway had the means, the will, and the ability to clarify very eloquently the purposes behind Pathway LLC and its rise to Pathway Industries. Through the honesty of their dedication, core values, and efforts, as well as their networks, their scientists, and their software and computer encryption experts their reputation was left virtually untarnished. Yet, there was a larger majority of the populous still who were among those living their mundane existence and were thus unaware that they were somewhat influenced and influenced enough to become disinterested or even negligent of the toxic climate surrounding them as a result of the antics of the already established oligarchy.
Something had to be done because a malicious reality was becoming more and more visible to Eliza, the kind that lent to the unbridled destruction existent even within the laws of chaos and entropy. Public Earth had a population of seven-billion and growing, and each individual was valued in Eliza’s eyes. If it hadn’t been for Eliza, the population would have already come close to eight-billion. In 2010, Pathway LLC had grown to twenty-million members, by 2011 it had grown to two-hundred-million, and now, in 2012, the growing number of members of Pathway Industries had risen exponentially to eight-hundred-million personnel, all of whom were living amazing lives throughout the solar system, and she wanted the rest of humanity to benefit from a better reality as well. Therefore, she came up with a variety of strategies and worked with Yesha, James, and her Delegates to come up with further and more refined plans to overcome the malicious intentions of those who treated their goals and themselves as the enemy.
“Yesha, for protection, we already have systems in place to prevent sabotage of our infrastructure both online and physically, but we need to find a way to protect all of the people who are being duped and misled by these all-too-familiar faces, unfortunate people who are misguided and have lost their focus in life to a life of unintended and uncontrolled chaos. Part of me wants to get everyone who is with us and go, another part wants to build a very mighty army and subdue the jerks by force, yet the most genuine part of me wants to find a way to heal their hearts, their minds, and even their souls.
“Horrible decisions of every form begin in the mind. There are many Presidents who are decent people, and I would like to invite them to be members of Pathway Industries, read-in fully, and armed with the proper knowledge to know we are their allies. The only enemies are misery and death. Just as we can heal people physiologically and neurologically through the biopods and the nanos, we need to find a way to heal through autonomous and mobile means, a way that allows city to city, town to town, and village to village means of visiting, helping, and healing.”
Yesha, James, and Eliza’s Delegates climbed into their biopods regularly, and as they did they shared each other’s ideas thoroughly and through to complete understanding.
Together with every member of the twenty-thousand tech cities and with that complete and shared understanding they were able to fuse together resolutions to each of the problems faced, in a way that was much more powerful in their manner of persuasion than anything known to mankind. They also chose Eliza to be their spokesperson as well as their leader, just as they had throughout the twenty-thousand tech cities hidden throughout the solar system. Everyone who was read-in was loyal to Eliza because they could see her mind and they knew that her intentions were of the highest integrity, they were pure, and they were benevolent. Every word she spoke came with a powerful promise of hope and of action, and the results of her efforts were beautiful and astounding.
They agreed to share their resolutions with every citizen and employee of Pathway Industries, or simply Pathway, as many had already dubbed it, and with every read-in UP member within the solar system, with a solar-system-wide vote.
Just as her Delegates supported Eliza, so too did each of the eight-hundred-million people who lived on the various moons and planets throughout the solar system. Each of these individuals was a valued and crucial part of the UP carrying dual citizenship both on Earth and off of Earth. James and his very trusty cadre of Delegates had also worked hand-in-hand with Eliza and Yesha to grow the various industries and to provide proper stewardship over those that Pathway Industries had bought out and molded to conform within the standards of Universal Ethics.
Chapter 25: Pathway Industries, Section 3
Finally, as hoped for, in the latter part of the first quarter of 2012, Eliza had organized and brought together Pathway Industries’ Delegates and Scientific Team Leaders to meet with worldwide major industrial leaders and Presidents, a large quantity of politicians, and ironically, many of the armed forces leaders of the developed world. She had pre-arranged a public-friendly brief on being fully read-in, which afforded non-invasive optimizations of physiology and neurology, which would be a requirement in order to be privy to further details of her plans and what she was up to, at least for attendance and participation for the encore portion of the convention, following the last meal and ball of the day. People who desired to attend could choose between a minimum or maximum optimization.
The maximum package afforded a full read-in, along with all of its wonders and intrigues. The minimum
package essentially ensured that attendees could participate, but would only have a sense of the meetings, wherein the intricate details would be compartmentalized in an area of the brain only accessible within dreams and released as particular advances went public. In this way, they would not be able to capitalize, nor steal, nor twist the advances shared and therefore could not create an alternate set of advances that would lead to all manner of chaos.
She had ensured that optimizations would be fully voluntary, that both optimized packages included a substantial increase in compassion for longevity, well-being, innovative spirit, and quality of life, as well as an increase in clarity of mind and persuasive skills. Part of the agreements included straight up commitments toward ensuring information was kept confidential, and that at a minimum all participants submitted for and received a neurological identification to ensure maximum encryption and security of information.
Eliza and her team of legal professionals and scientists reached out to the most affluent and powerful individuals worldwide when it came to innovation, economics, and even national defense and law. Among the most philanthropic and affluent of attendees were more than twelve-hundred billionaires and their assistants. The convention was spacious, as were the accommodations, and the ability to provide a valuable and enriching experience unique to each individual.
All of the people who were invited had promptly RSVP’d, had showed up interested in learning, and were enthusiastic for the opportunity of being involved. Life had been a battle in its own unique way for each of these powerful and affluent individuals. So, also in their own way, they, despite the constantly critical and somewhat hostile public, wanted to create a better world. Unfortunately, given the societal expectations of the day, many of the most affluent and influential had found their own meaning, purpose, or even their own “calling” to improve what they understood to bring substance to life as their reason for existence. In many ways, they understood that affluence would help, so if they weren’t already, they became rich and powerful using the talents and means they were given and otherwise worked very hard for. Many of them had already sown the seeds of progress that had inspired Eliza and many other amazing personalities to become what they became.
While she was powerful herself and even though she was optimized physiologically and neurologically, Eliza couldn’t help but feel a little nervous. Her influence spanned the solar system. She was more robustly affluent than any other person in the room, and quite amusingly more than every person in the room combined. Nevertheless, she had been involved in working with individuals who had been struggling all of their lives for one reason or another, and many of those whom she had worked with had been, at the time of meeting her, barely making it or very genuine of heart to begin with. They were by nature humble, they were kind, and the knowledge and expertise they gained were out of a desire to improve the quality of life, not just for themselves, but for all of those who they knew. Their struggles were their own as well, yet their inheritance in priceless virtues was beyond any price; economic humility was their strength.
As the primary scientific genius behind her biopods, she had helped each one of them in so many ways that enabled them to turn their lives with limited resources to an environment rich with anything needed for the advancement of civilization, which included what was necessary for morale. The inventions she had privately funded, the empire that she had secretly grown from nothing to everything that it had become, the growth where she was the initial and primary of the three original Pathway LLC founders and builders that had grown to Pathway Industries and now merely Pathway, where she had designed the tech cities that lay hidden from the rest of the public, and everything that resulted from that point on, each individual who had signed on to work with her throughout the process had dedicated their lives to work with her and to achieve her vision for the future. All that she had designed had given every person who had ever worked with Eliza and many more who would work with her in the future, many great reasons to enjoy life, express appreciation for her kindness, loyalty, innovation, and the facilitation of greater clarity for existence and purpose.
No matter her empire and all the people within it whom she loved dearly, the people sitting in the room were quite diversified and in a very different way and sitting among her own Pathway Citizens and Delegates were some of the most powerful and influential people in the Public World. Great minds of scientists were meeting with people who had been involved with shaping civilization into what it had become. Although there were many questionable factors to the reality we all perceived, these people had been involved in so many ways with a lot of what impacted the economy, many of them had been involved with it for decades and continued to do so even now, and they knew their industries inside and out. They knew very much about economics and all of its curious forms. These great and affluent individuals had been in the businesses and industrial sectors for quite a long time, and thus were shrewd, savvy, and mysterious.
Their motivations weren’t very clear in many ways, yet, Eliza had a great deal of hope that somehow that which drove the core of their influence had been and was in the best interest of the advancement of civilization, the protection of humanity, the world, and of life itself. However, the current condition of society throughout the world was unfortunately resounding evidence to the contrary, but she had hope in the ethical core that drives each of us within to understand and care for those around us, and if that were not the case, she would do what she could to get through to them, to return the favor by planting seeds of hope and well-being within them. She had little doubt that through this meeting she would help them find a meaningful purpose, clarity on what could be done while still allowing great minds to flourish and prosper.
What surprised her was the fact that every single one of these economic titans had been willing to take time out of their schedules to attend. For all of the horrible things said in critical and chronicled entertainment and news-like channels, they had actually made quite a few helpful and amazing contributions that benefited humanity and the world itself. Every year, progress was being made and products released that raised the quality of life. The world indeed had quite a few misunderstood complexities, and yet they carried the banner that kept people fed, medically attended to, and involved through employment. Yet, not enough was being done due to increased corruption rampant worldwide, the kind of corruption that led to deceit and blackmail, the kind that took the promise of unity and kindness and shunned it as boredom rather than reveled in it as a healthy mind would, by seeing and capitalizing on an environment necessary for the hope and preservation of humanity. She knew a lot about each one of the attendees, however, because she had looked into their lives extensively using the tools available to her in the most pragmatic of ways. In order to be a proper host, she wanted to uniquely impact each person there and in an effective manner, she thus knew the good qualities of each individual and amplified them.
While to Eliza it was important to abstain from ridicule, both in private and public, of individuals, on occasion, and in a more general manner she knew that it was necessary to embrace and verbally express the realities that existed in the interest of sharing what could be done to make phenomenally helpful changes. This would be her opportunity to share science and ideology in all ways that truly mattered, to break the downward trend of society as a whole and change that trend toward one of persistent and exponential upward motion.
This, the first convention of its sort would be the only convention at Pathway where the world’s elite would sit within the first few rows of attendees. In the future, they would be assigned to seats that would allow for greater intermingling with the scientists and lawyers, so their focus would be more inclusive toward the industries related to the special guests.
The convention was today, and the events were laid out and set to last all day. Eliza had arrived not a moment too soon, but soon enough to greet each person in the room before proceeding with the course of the day. She also ens
ured that every attendee knew that they would be heavily and desirably compensated. After all, it was through private industry and in the public sector that great changes could be made in the quickest manner, and all to benefit the majority.
James Cooper, Pathway’s enigmatic tertiary figurehead and management extraordinaire of eight-hundred-million personnel and growing, would begin by giving a brief and light opening speech, and then the audience would gather in the neighboring convention dining area with staged seating and tables. Breakfast would be served by the world’s finest chefs, which would be light, yet tasty, full of nutrition, and healthy for the body, mind, and soul. A movie and pertinent music would play in the background, showing “future” plans, followed by an hour-long break.
After the light morning session, Eliza would extrapolate on the subjects to be discussed and give a lengthy summary of the agenda of the day. There would then be an ice-breaker intermingled between the first set of speeches which pertained to the current state of the economy and each industry. On their way to lunch, many of the world-renown attendees would be interviewed quickly, and then make their way past the press rooms and to the dining facility.
Lunch would be quite the delight, continuing the trend of taste bud joys with some of the best chefs in the world making delicious and amazing appetizers, followed by entrées with a full-course meal, while another short movie and pertinent music played in the background.
After an additional hour-long break, more presentations would be made with Eliza giving the afternoon opening speech, followed by scientists addressing things that could be done to mitigate the issues related to the nucleus of the concerns of the day and how to solve those problems. Each of the topics would cover physiology, neurology, and physics and then there would be a closing speech by Dr. Eliza A. Williams, followed by an additional press briefing.
