There are many who we thank and for whom we appreciate for their countless contributions, and among their contributions, first and foremost, the critically important steps beginning with kindness.
Appendix – Glossary
As a courtesy to the great minds of those who read this book or who have authored countless significant advances, the author has endeavored to list terms and acronyms introduced or used within this book in their fictional form. While this is not an all-inclusive list, the purpose of this glossary is to educate and inform while providing insight and further context to the story.
A-Drive - Alcubierre Drive – According to theoretical physicist, Miguel Alcubierre, an engine of this type essentially envelopes the spacecraft within a shielded bubble-like environment, while pulling space in front and pushing space behind, creating an energy-density field that is less than that of vacuum, allowing it to go faster than the speed of light.
ABO - Astrobiology Officer- Each IMC has ten astrobiology officers, who are responsible for maintaining a comprehensive, broad, and full knowledge of every star within their zone, to include stellar, planetary system, and civilization histories existent within. ABOs inform the IMC Commander or associated IMC Zonal Commanders of each detail through Virtual Universe updates and real-world briefs. Much of this information is collated and databased using the advantages of time-dilation, and baryonic and non-baryonic particle manipulation.
Antimatter – British physicist Paul Dirac won a Nobel Prize in 1933, essentially describing that all baryonic matter can carry an opposite charge, i.e., electron vs. positron, proton vs. antiproton, etc. When combined to form antimatter they behave similarly to ordinary matter. When antimatter and ordinary matter meet, they destroy or annihilate each other.
APC - Antimatter Particle Cannon – The UAS Presidential and each IMC Command Spacecraft has four dedicated APC Turrets per sixteen-turret system array. This weapon system is the least likely to be used because it will completely annihilate its target. If used it would work much like a laser gun, but with a strong and steady stream of antimatter particles based on target composition to completely destroy and annihilate the target engaged in a deliberate attack against the President or the IMC or its crew that would seriously jeopardize the mission or the lives of the crew. If all measures for diplomatic bridges are exhausted in an effort to protect the integrity of the IMC and its mission, this system will be employed.
Baryonic Matter - All matter that you can currently interact with, within your natural state. According to established sciences, baryonic matter includes protons and neutrons, or more accurate, baryonic matter possesses a triquark configuration. In standard definitions, electrons are excluded, since they are classed as leptons. However, for the purpose of this text and subsequent texts in this literary series, this term is used more loosely to include electrons.
Bioenvironment - Any environment that enables a reasonably healthy life, in the case of Eliza or anyone on her team, this would provide an optimally healthy quality of life, which would augment both the physiology and neurology of organic an
d sentient organisms and beings.
Biopod - Biopods are pivotal to the story. Eliza finished the first prototypes in 2007 and improved upon them with Yesha. Eliza and Yesha were the first two to use them. James was the third to use one while going through his experiences with Eliza and Yesha. This machine is much like a glowing white perpendicular tanning booth, wherein you lay, it is comfortable, you shut the door, mentally state “1, 2, 3, 5, 20”, in which 5 is an example of the quantity of real-world time your body lays in the biopod in terms of minutes, and 20 is an example of your life-like experience in the Virtual Universe time in terms of years. This will interface you, if you so choose, with the Virtual Universe, and in it, not only will you be able to experience life, but you will also be able to interface with the Twelve Database Moons, connect mind-to-mind with others who are there or who have passed through it. You will also have the occasion to learn and improve upon newly acquired skills and abilities through learning, education, experiential-physiological feedback, and achieve complete mind-to-mind and neurological understanding. Ultimately, a biopod is used to heal people both in body and mind, connect people to the Virtual Universe, and optimize any user both physiologically and neurologically.
