“Good morning, Nadine.” Sandy stood up wishing she could touch the woman who was just out of reach, but sat down instead.
Nadine’s eyes wandered over the younger woman as she stood. Her skirt hugged her narrow hips and the light blue blouse matched her eyes. “I guess I better get to work.”
“See you later,” Sandy said before Nadine walked away.
“You’re late,” Arlene said standing as Nadine approached. Her eyes narrowed as she saw the smile on Nadine’s face. “Are you all right?”
“Yes. I had some phone calls to make at home.” Nadine opened her door and Arlene was right behind her.
“Here are your messages.” Arlene stood there watching as Nadine hung up her coat and jacket from her pants suit.
“Is there something else you needed?” Nadine asked slipping on her glasses to read the messages.
Arlene’s finger came out. “You got laid this weekend,” she said excitedly. “I can’t believe you are finally back.”
Nadine’s jaw was slack as she stared at the redhead. “I did not get laid as you so crudely stated.”
“Well, something happened. You never smile like that. If you didn’t get laid, then you are in like with someone. I can’t say in love because I would have seen this smile before today.” Arlene moved closer. Those green eyes staring her down. “Who is she?”
“Get back to work before I fire you,” Nadine said pointing her finger toward the door.
“Again? You are going to hurt my feelings if you keep firing me.” She was out the door, but quickly peeked back in. “Don’t think I didn’t notice that you didn’t deny that you’re seeing someone.”
Nadine loudly groaned as Arlene closed her office door.
Sandy was sitting in the break room having lunch when Arlene came in to get a cup of coffee. She took her cup of coffee and sat next to Sandy. “Did you see the smile Nadine was wearing this morning?”
Sandy’s eyes opened wide and then looked back down at the table. “No.”
“I guess you don’t know her well enough to notice but she hasn’t smiled, a real smile, since Kim. I told her she must have gotten laid this weekend.” At Arlene’s remark, Sandy could feel her face burn with a blush. “I’m sorry. Sometimes I say things to people without thinking. I didn’t mean to embarrass you.” Arlene picked up her cup and left the room.
Oh, my god. Sandy was now wondering what would happen when they really went to bed. Would Arlene know the moment she looked at her face? She was so lost in thought, she never noticed that Nadine had come into the room.
“Are you okay?”
“I don’t know. Arlene was just in here.”
Nadine’s shoulders slumped. “Did she tell you she thought I got laid?” Sandy’s head slowly nodded up and down. “I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay, but she got me thinking.” She looked around before she spoke to make sure no one was listening. “How are we going to keep this a secret?”
“I don’t plan on keeping it a secret.”
“You don’t?”
“No. I don’t want you to be my dirty little secret.”
“But…” Sandy began.
“Even if I wanted to keep this a secret, which I don’t, they are all going to figure it out eventually.”
“Can we wait for the eventually?”
“Why?” Nadine asked surprised by her question.
“Because I don’t want people to think I got this job because we were already involved. Besides, even when they know, we will have to act with decorum.”
“Damn, you are tough.” They both laughed. “I forgot to tell you that my mother is thrilled that you and Carly are coming for Thanksgiving.”
“I’m glad that I won’t cause any problems with your family.”
“When you get to know my family, you will realize how great they are. You are going to fall in love with them just like everyone else does.”
“Do you have any contact with Kim’s family?” Sandy asked, not wanting Nadine to leave just yet.
“No,” she said firmly. “Kim’s family wasn’t supportive of her being gay. Her brother was at our wedding, but her sister and parents were not.” She shrugged and kept quiet that Kim’s family didn’t even attend her funeral. Again, it was only Eric who attended.
“I’m sorry,” Sandy said touching Nadine’s hand.
“I felt sorry for Kim. It doesn’t bother me that we have no contact.” She also could have added that her family did not reap the reward of any of Kim’s money. Eric had been left two million dollars, but her sister and parents got nothing. Of course, they never found out just how much money Kim had. They did know that everything else had been left to her which caused Kim’s mother to call her.
“You weren’t even married that long. Why would Kim leave you everything and leave her family out of the Will?”
“Maybe if you showed Kim any love or kindness she would have left you something, but you never did. I would give up everything that was left to me for Kim to have had a loving relationship with her family. You hurt her terribly and I will never forgive you for that.”
There were no other phone calls after that one and Nadine was happy to have those people out of her life. “I better get back to my desk before Arlene comes looking for me. Do you want to come over tonight?”
“I can’t. I’ve got Carly. After dinner we go over her homework and then get her ready for bed.” Her eyes showed the love for her daughter. “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be sorry. I understand. How about Friday night or maybe we can do something with Carly on Saturday?”
“Sure. We’ll talk.”
Sandy closed Carly’s bedroom door as she tucked her in for the night. She was now walking back to the living room when she stopped in the middle of the room.
“Are you okay, Sandy?” Eva asked looking at the expression on her daughter’s face.
“Mom, would you mind if I go out for an hour or so?” Sandy asked not moving from the middle of the room.
“Are you going to see Nadine?” Eva asked with a grin and watched as Sandy’s headed nodded. “Go ahead.” Sandy ran to the closet for her jacket. “If you aren’t coming home, send me a text.”
Sandy stopped in her tracks. “Mom,” Sandy scolded, but her face said something else. She had no intention of sleeping with Nadine after one date. Well, maybe it was two if you counted the fundraiser. “I’ll be back tonight.” Her purse was in her hand as she opened the front door. As she drove down the street, she called Nadine.
“Hi,” the soft voice said into the phone.
“Do you feel like company?”
“Yes, but do I have to change out of my sweats and put on a bra?” Nadine asked with a laugh.
“God, no.” She disconnected the call before Nadine could say anything else. She felt the blood pulsing through her lower half and ran to the front door when she arrived.
“That was fast,” Nadine said as she opened the door wearing a big smile.
Before she could say anything else, Sandy was in her arms and pressed their lips together. Nadine found herself backed up against a wall. She desperately tried to get Sandy’s jacket off and she didn’t stop until it landed on the floor. The moment Sandy’s body pressed against the braless woman, a moan escaped through her lips. Nadine was now pulling Sandy’s shirt out of her jeans and running her hands up and down the smaller woman’s back. Sandy didn’t know who was moving them, but they didn’t stop until they both landed on the couch in a heap.
Nadine began to laugh. “Best surprise visit I’ve ever had.” Her hand came out and caressed Sandy’s face. “I missed you.”
“I missed you too and that’s why I attacked you when I got here.” Sandy tried hiding her blush.
“I am so not offended by your attack. Do you want to get up?” she asked as her hand slid down and touched the skin on Sandy’s stomach.
“I could kiss you all night,” Sandy admitted as her lips found the home of Nadine’s mouth. She was now
lifting Nadine’s long sleeve shirt higher until her breasts were exposed. Her finger gently touched the nipple that now stood erect. “Did I do this to you?”
“That and more,” Nadine answered watching the fascination in Sandy’s eyes. She watched as Sandy touched and pulled at her nipple seemingly knowing how much pressure Nadine needed. Sandy looked into Nadine’s eyes before her mouth came down on the breast. They both moaned at the contact.
“Thank you for not putting that bra on,” Sandy said as her hand stroked the other breast. “Am I doing this right?”
Nadine let out a shuddered breath. “Oh yeah.” She couldn’t help herself as her hips began to move against the woman above her. The roughness of Sandy’s jeans was hitting in the right place making her need unbearable. “Touch me,” she moaned and then looked up into Sandy’s face. “I didn’t mean for that to sound like a command.”
“Oh, honey,” Sandy said kissing Nadine’s chest. “I took that as desire and not a command.” Her hand began a descent as her hand went under the waistband of Nadine’s sweats. She immediately felt the heat emanating off Nadine’s skin. The hand was now touching the soft curls at her apex. “Oh, you feel so good. Show me how to love you.”
Nadine’s eyes opened wide. “I don’t think you need any help. What you are doing is perfect,” she said as Sandy’s fingers moved within her folds. “Right there,” she said when Sandy touched the spot she ached for. “Oh, god, Sandy.” She screamed as her orgasm took over. Her body was shaking and trembling in the arms of the woman who was now kissing her face and chest. Nadine let out a long breath and said, “I’m supposed to be the experienced one here and you just took my breath away.” Sandy now had her head buried in the crook of Nadine’s neck as her fingers came out of their hiding place. Nadine now managed to roll Sandy onto her back and took the lead. “Can I take this off?” she asked, holding the hem of Sandy’s shirt. A shy nod was her answer. Sandy’s shirt and bra hit the floor and desire filled Nadine’s eyes. Her hand gently went across her chest. “You are a goddess,” she said before her lips touched ever so softly across her breasts.
Sandy couldn’t believe the sensations going through her body. It felt as though Nadine was worshipping her body instead of making love to her. “Oh, Nadine. That feels so good.” Sandy felt Nadine’s hand on the waistband of her jeans and she didn’t wait for Nadine to ask permission. Her hips lifted off the sofa cushions so she could slip them off. Before Nadine went any further, Sandy’s hands were on the hem of Nadine’s shirt. Nadine lifted her arms so the shirt would come off. Now her hands went to the sweatpants. Before they knew it, they were both naked and their bodies touched for the first time. Skin to skin they kissed. Sandy’s body was swimming with different sensations as Nadine kissed her way down her body. The first touch of Nadine’s tongue made her flinch.
Nadine looked up. “Are you okay?” she asked looking at the blue wide-eyed expression of Sandy’s face.
“Yes.” Nadine began to lick and suck as Sandy’s body danced under her. Sliding two fingers into Sandy brought out a low growl of ecstasy. Her body was humming until she felt her climax at the very edge. She finally crashed into Nadine’s mouth with spurts of contented pleasure. “Come here,” she begged Nadine with her hands on her shoulders.
Nadine moved up Sandy’s body slowly. Her arms now locked looking down into the face of this beautiful creature. “Good?”
“Good? My god, Nadine. I can’t comprehend how wonderful you made me feel.”
“So, you are okay with what just happened?” Nadine asked watching her face carefully.
Sandy stretched. “I feel as though I could run a marathon once the lower half of my body recovers from your loving.” Nadine laughed and kissed Sandy’s neck and face. “Don’t read anything into this, but I have to get home.”
Nadine sat up and collected Sandy’s clothes for her. Now she began to dress herself. “I understand,” she said softly, but her heart wanted Sandy to never leave. “I won’t be at work tomorrow. I’m having some new furniture delivered.” Sandy raised an eyebrow. “New bedroom.” She now saw Sandy’s wide smile. “The next time we make love, I want you in my bed.”
“Maybe I can spend Friday night with you?”
“All night?”
“All night, Nadine,” she answered kissing Nadine’s mouth before she sat to put her sneakers back on.
It was hard for either woman to relinquish control at the front door. They kissed over and over again until Sandy said, “I have to go.”
“I know.” But Nadine’s lips found hers again.
When Sandy walked into the house, her mother looked at her over her glasses. “Did you have a good visit?”
“The best ever. Good night, Mom.”
“Good night, sweetie,” Eva said chuckling knowing exactly what her daughter had done tonight.
CHAPTER 41
It was a lonely day in the office without Nadine, but Sandy had Friday night to look forward to. She was sitting there daydreaming when Arlene appeared in the front of her desk.
“Gee, where were you?”
“Just thinking,” Sandy answered fidgeting with the papers on her desk.
“Yeah. Kind of quiet around here without Nadine in and the holiday coming up. Do you have plans for the holiday?” Arlene asked.
“Yes. You?”
“Family.”
Sandy nodded at her reply and thankfully the phone rang which caused Arlene to go back to her own desk. Her eyes opened wide when she heard who was on the phone. “Hey.”
“Hi. How are you?”
“Lonely,” Sandy said and could almost picture Nadine’s smile.
“Me too.”
“Do you want to speak with Arlene?”
“Not really, but I guess I should.” Before Sandy could transfer the call, “Want to come over after work and see my new bedroom set?”
Sandy didn’t answer right away. “I’ll have to call my mom and check with her to see if she has plans for tonight.”
“I know you want to spend time with Carly, but I’ll feed you and then you can go home and help her with her homework.”
“If I come there, you know what we will be doing.” The pulsing in Sandy’s body started again. Instead of an answer, a strangled moan met her ears. “Let me call my mom and I’ll call you back.”
“Okay. I guess switch me to Arlene, please.”
Sandy drove over to Nadine’s place practically dancing in her seat. She was starving, but it certainly wasn’t for food. The door opened before she even had an opportunity to knock. Nadine held out her arms. Sandy immediately rushed into her body. “Oooh, you feel so good,” she said squeezing Nadine’s body to her before she raised her head and kissed her. She was just deepening the kiss when Nadine pulled away.
“I promised to feed you and I’m going to keep that promise.” The blue eyes standing in front of her seemed confused. “I made chili. It will take us ten minutes to eat.” She kissed Sandy’s ear. “Then I’ll show you my new bedroom suite.” Her arm went around Sandy and she led her into the kitchen.
As promised, Sandy scarfed down the bowl of wonderful tasting meat that she hardly noticed. There was only one thing on her mind and it wasn’t to fill her stomach. Nadine took her empty bowl. “Would you like more?” Nadine asked. A slight grin appeared on Sandy’s lips as she shook her head. The bowls went into the dishwasher and the leftovers already put into a container went into the refrigerator. When Nadine closed the refrigerator, she was alone in the kitchen. She shut the light and rushed up the stairs to find Sandy already in her bed. “Couldn’t wait for me?”
“No. How about coming over here and keeping me warm? It’s kind of drafty,” she said lifting the covers so Nadine could see her nakedness. Sandy had no idea where this woman had been hiding her entire life, but she welcomed her into her heart. She wanted Nadine to be part of that life.
Nadine took off her clothes so fast that Sandy never had time to admire the beautiful body that was her.
She climbed under the covers and pulled Sandy to her. “How long do you have?”
“About an hour.”
“Let’s not waste any time then.” Each time Nadine made love to Sandy her heart filled with love. Her thoughts drifted to Kim most days and guilt plagued her, but when she was in Sandy’s arms, her guilt waned.
“Do you mind if I take a shower before I leave? I don’t want to walk in the house smelling of sex.”
“I love that smell on you,” Nadine said wearing a satisfied grin. “Would you like company?”
“If I let you in there, I’ll never get out of here,” Sandy said pulling out of Nadine’s grasp.
Nadine laid there listening as the water came on in the shower. Her eyes closed wishing for the day Sandy wouldn’t be leaving her bed to go home.
CHAPTER 42
“Relax,” Nadine said for the second time as Sandy sat in the passenger seat in her car. “The family is going to love you.”
“Are you sure?” Sandy asked turning to Nadine.
“Trust me, honey.”
The two women and Carly walked into her parents’ home and were met at the door by her sister Pat. “Happy Thanksgiving,” they called as Pat hugged her sister.
“Hey, Nadine.” Pat looked at Sandy. “You must be Sandy.” She turned to the little girl. “Hi, Carly. Come meet my daughter Amy.” Pat took Carly’s hand and led her to the living room.
Introductions completed, the women sat down on the love seat while Carly and Amy played on the floor with a puzzle. Pat’s son Davey was watching the football game with his grandfather, father and uncle. The women moved to the kitchen to help with dinner preparations.
“Sandy, I’m so glad you could join us.” Jennifer already had pulled Sandy into a hug.
“Thank you for inviting me.”
“Nadine, go set the table. Everything is in the dining room,” Jennifer said pushing her out of the room. Nadine looked at Sandy. “She’ll be fine. Now go.”
