  About Blushing Books

  Chapter One

The office was quiet now. Secretaries had punched the time clock and hurried home to cook dinner for husbands, to make sure homework was completed, to get the children off to bed. Perhaps they would even have a few minutes to catch up on another chapter of the latest Danielle Steele novel before rolling over to avoid the groping hands of lovers or husbands. All the middle management executives had gone home to their wives, looking forward to dry martinis, peaceful dinners, a few minutes to catch up on the stock report and evening news with a nice cigar before they fell into bed – too exhausted to entertain thoughts of a small overdue romp with “the wife.” Another weekend has finally arrived.

Only Harmony Daniels, Ph.D. remained in the building, sitting in her penthouse office suite as she gathered her thoughts for the corporate meeting scheduled for early Monday morning. Questions raged through her mind. Would the annual reports encourage more investments? Would someone dare to challenge her position as CEO the way they did every year? Was the staff ready with any answers they might be required to offer? Above all, would her mind stay focused?

Her eyes flicked over the framed diplomas on her office wall. Achieving several graduate degrees in psychology and management had been no small task. It seemed that up to now, most of her life had been devoted to education and leadership. At age thirty-four years, she had reached a pinnacle few women had dared to attempt. People from around the world, as well as from her own corporation, listened to what she had to say. Her insights into human nature and her lively perspectives on business were unique in a “bottom-line” world.

Questions still unanswered, she closed the hasp on her attaché case, slung a purse over the shoulder of her charcoal gray silk Dior suit, touched the light switch that brought darkness to her office, and walked to her private elevator. In silence, a private chauffeur drove Harmony home in an emerald green late model Jaguar. She put her head back against the seat and tried to relax. How many years had she worked to attain one of the most coveted positions in corporate America? How many years of being the first woman in that position? She had done it!

She was drifting off to sleep when she realized the Jag had come to a halt in the circular drive of her home. The door to the rear seat opened. The driver helped her out of the car and up the stairs to an imposing, hand-carved oak door. Patiently, she waited while he selected the appropriate key and unlocked the door to let her in.

“Thank you, Harris,” she said. Harmony placed her fingertips on his arm, reached up to kiss his smooth cheek. He bowed low and smiled. She watched as her stepbrother proudly left to put the Jag to bed. Each of them had chosen a different career; Harmony chose the corporate life, while Harris opted to play the role of her beloved and adoring chauffeur, sensitive to her needs. Although Harris knew of his sister’s work world, he only had vague ideas of her life with Abelard D’Amato. When his sister had no need for his services, Harris enjoyed a quiet separate life with Leonard Mann, his life partner and Abelard’s driver.

Harmony leaned back against the closed entry door, breathing a sigh of relief that the long week was over. Now she could set aside work, problems, doubts, all responsibility. Harmonizing the job as CEO of one of the Fortune 200 and her life with Abelard had required more concentration, yet more joy and satisfaction than her career. Perhaps that is why she united with him in the first place. She did not want the typical marriage and family relationship that so many of her friends longed for; she’d always wanted something else, and Abelard had been ready to supply it.

When she first met Abelard, she had looked up the meaning of his name and learned that it meant “firm.” She knew he had been a gift meant specifically for her. Abelard upheld the meaning of his name very nicely, too. He was loving, but certainly firm. He provided the safety net and security Harmony needed.

The introduction had been one of the high moments of her life. Until she met him, Harmony was content to live alone with an occasional fling, but each of those had been a major disappointment. They were too romantic, or too needy, and definitely not firm enough for her liking. A mutual friend arranged for Abelard and Harmony to meet without either of them suspecting it had been a setup from the beginning. The second Abelard took her hand in greeting, Harmony knew she’d been hooked; his firmness was immediately apparent.

He had no need of a career. A generous family inheritance allowed him to remain at home, to be in charge of the gardener, housekeeper, cook and other aspects of maintaining a household. She was allowed to pursue her career without any jealous interference from him. He demanded nothing more from her than love, respect, loyalty – and total obedience.

For exactly five minutes every evening, Harmony was permitted to make the transition from highly paid CEO to a home life that was known by no one but her and Abelard. On the way to work each morning, she would switch gears again to become the person of highest authority in the corporate building. It was during those first five minutes of being at home that she became what Abelard required.

It wasn’t as if those first few years together had been easy for either of them. Abelard had higher expectations than Harmony was able to give, but gradually they found the meeting point where both would be satisfied and still stretched to a new level.

At last, their system of give-and-take, their manner of being with each other, their need to be completely fulfilled by the other was realized. It was at that moment that Abelard insisted that she move in with him so they could continue their lives uninterrupted. No longer would they need to arrange a meeting time; they could shut out the world and be alone together, in a manner they both desired.

The opening of the heavy front door triggered an automatic signal. At the end of five minutes, Harmony would be allowed to enter into her new world. A small chime could be heard behind her head – the signal that Dr. Harmony Daniels was to become Abelard’s obedient and submissive Harmony. She was to assume any one of several age roles, depending on his mood and needs at the time. She never knew which role she was to play until she heard the chime and he entered the vast foyer of their home.

“Welcome home, darling,” he said. “You are a little late this evening. You know th
at I like promptness.”

Harmony did not reply, but simply bowed her head in submission. As yet, he had given her no indication whether she was to be an infant, a toddler, an adolescent, or slut, which would dictate her response. If she were to be his baby, she would only be allowed coos and “da da,” but if he wanted her to become the toddler, he then would become her “Daddy.” The role of adolescent came about rarely, but when it did, he was “Father.” The role of slut would require absolute silence other than to respond, “Yes, Sir Abelard.” Harmony wasn’t sure which of the roles she loved the most, and she was willing to accept any of them.

Each designated role held special meaning for Harmony. Abelard always seemed to detect which role she needed most after a day or a week of being in charge of the corporation. From time to time, Abelard asked her which of her roles she preferred, but she was unable to answer, so she waited for him to deliver his ruling. Sometimes the wait was as humiliating as the decision. She closed her eyes as Abelard stood before her, lightly touched her face with his fingertips in gentleness and love, kissed her lips and eyes.

“Do you know what Daddy does when his little Harmony is late?” he whispered.

Ah, the verdict at last. Now she knew and could answer age-appropriately.

“Yes, Daddy,” she whispered in return, her voice now that of a three-year-old toddler.

“Then prepare yourself, little miss,” He said firmly. “I will watch.”

Harmony placed her purse and attaché case onto the floor beside her, then slipped off her high heels and pushed them to one side with her foot. She unbuttoned the silk jacket, shrugged it off, and hung it carefully on the back of chair that stood by the front door. Next came the skirt. She pulled down on the zipper tab and pushed the skirt to the floor. She lifted the silk shell top up over her head, unhooked the bra, and slipped off her lace panties.

Now standing in nothing but her garter belt and stockings, Harmony paused, knowing how much he enjoyed this last stripping of her status. She removed small pearl earrings before pulling the pin from her dark auburn wavy hair to let it flow around her shoulders and over her full breasts.

  “Yes,” he whispered. “Yes.”

Slowly, she bent to loosen the tab on the garters that held up her stockings, let them fall to her ankles, and slipped the hooks apart on the garter belt. She lifted one foot, then the other as he bent to slide off each stocking. Her body trembled, now totally stripped of all vestiges of her professional adult life outside this house. He let her wait while his eyes roamed over her body. Then he walked to the small entryway closet and brought out a box.

“Your clothes,” he said softly. “Let Daddy dress you for the evening.”

“Yes, Daddy,” she said with a soft smile.

From the box, Abelard took out a pair of heavy cotton training panties, carefully helping her step into them, and patting her bottom as he did so. When he lifted out a dusty blue baby doll dress with little rose designs on it, she held up her arms. He dropped the dress over her head, and stood back to admire the effect.

“We aren’t quite finished, are we?” Abelard asked. “What do you think Daddy needs to do yet, sweetheart?”

  “Shoes?” she asked shyly.

“That’s right! You’re a very smart little girl, aren’t you?” He held up a pair of light blue anklets and little white high-top walkers. “How about these?”

Harmony had been hoping for little black patent slippers, so she was disappointed with the stodgy old high-tops, but she didn’t dare let him know. She smiled bravely and nodded.

“Come sit on this chair while I put on your shoes.” He helped her sit as he tied her shoes.

“Now, we have one more thing.”

  “Yes, Daddy,” she said.

“Go get my hairbrush,” he directed. “It’s over there on the floor of the closet.”

She brought it back, expecting it would be used on her bottom, so she was surprised when he lifted her up, sat on the chair and pulled her to sit between his legs.

“Let’s brush your hair,” he said. “Let’s fix your pretty hair, shall we?”

What? Had he forgotten that she needed to be punished for working late? He gave no sign that she was in for the spanking. He simply set about brushing her long, wavy hair, humming to himself as he did so. She leaned against his knee, loving his attention. He parted her hair down the middle and made a long braid on each side and then tied each with a blue ribbon.

“Now, young lady,” he said. “Are you ready for your discipline?”

Ready? She was never ready for it, but she knew it was well deserved, so she nodded.

“Cat got your tongue, Harmony?” he asked. “Tell me what you need.”

Harmony gulped hard. “Daddy, I was late from work and I need discipline.”

He took her hand and trudged down the broad hallway to her bedroom. There were many bedrooms in this house, one for each age he desired from her. This one held a youth crib, a potty chair built to suit her size, a rocking horse and a toy box. Bright posters of kittens and teddy bears hung on the wall, and a stack of stuffed animals sat in the crib. There was also a straight-backed chair for him to use when he disciplined her. He sat in this chair now and stood her before him.

“Do you have an excuse for being late?” he asked in preparation for her scolding.

Harmony shook her head. She scuffed the toes of her white high tops in the carpeting and twisted the hem of her skirt.

“You know you are to answer me with words,” he said. “Please do so or your punishment will be even more severe. Do you have an excuse for your tardiness?”

“No, Daddy,” she said in a trembling voice. “I just forgot to look at the clock and I was busy working on Monday morning’s meeting.”

“I realize you are an important person there, Harmony, but your first priority is always to me and to our relationship here at home. Did you forget that?”

“No, Daddy, I didn’t forget. There was just so much to tend to there.”

“That is why you have secretaries and other managers. You must never forget what your highest priority is. Sometimes you need a reminder of how to harmonize these things.”

“Yes, Daddy,” she said, the sincere quiver in her tone deepening. “I’m very sorry!”

“Sorry is a good way to be, but it’s not enough, is it?”

  “No, Daddy.”

“It’s for your own good that you are to be punished, you know? When you work too long and too hard, you are not keeping yourself healthy. I do not like that. Is your mind still at work now, Harmony?”

  “A little bit, Daddy.”

“A little bit?” he asked with the look that always intimidated her. “Then I think it’s time for me to show you not only what happens when you’re late from work, but to give you another issue to think about. Come closer, please.”

Harmony made another timid step toward Abelard, her beloved Daddy. He pulled her across his knee, lifted the skirt of her little dress, hooked a thumb in her panties and pulled them down to her knees. The quivering in her stomach became almost unbearable. As the first blow of the hairbrush landed on her smooth bottom, the annual report became ancient history.

Wiggling to get away from his grasp, she kept sliding off one side of his lap, but his strong arm and hand pulled her back, gripping her even more tightly. She cried out, squirmed even more. The sting of the brush was excruciating, but he didn’t stop. Now sobbing deeply, her body lay limp across his knees. He placed the brush on a nearby table, pushed her legs apart and slipped first one, then a second finger and third finger into her smooth kitty. With his other hand, he caressed the length of her back, let her sob as she released the tension of the day.

“You dread it, my darling, but you also crave it – require it – to continue your work.”

He watched her body as he gently moved his fingers inside her, touching the spots he knew would discharge even more stress and anxiety. Her body tightened against his touch and gave a
violent wave of spasms, before she became a rag doll draped over his legs. Abelard smiled. Harmony stuck a thumb into her mouth. Around the thumb and with eyes closed once more, she said, “Thank you, Daddy. I think I can be good now.”

He slowly withdrew his fingers, sniffed her aroma she’d left on them, and gently stood with her in his arms. He placed her in the crib, pulled up the side to the halfway mark, switched on a nightlight, turned on lullabies and switched out the light before leaving the room. It was naptime for his little Harmony.

An hour later, he stepped back into the room. She was in the same position she’d been in when he left – lying on her stomach, legs splayed out with her panties wrapped around one ankle, the hem of her dress around her waist, her red bottom exposed. He ran a finger down the crack between her cheeks, watched her body move in reaction to the touch.

“Come, dear,” he said. “It’s time for supper. Do you need to go tinkle first?”

“Yes, Daddy,” she said. It had been a long time since she’d left the office.

He took her hand, helped her climb over the railing of her crib, and led her to the potty chair he’d built especially for her. He lifted the lid, helped her sit down.

“Okay, darling. You go pee pee for Daddy while I pull up your bed covers. I want to hear it tinkle in the potty from across the room.” He kissed the top of her head.

She spread her legs and angled her body in such a way that the pee hitting the little metal cup under the hole would sound louder. Abelard smiled as he heard it – sweet music to his ears. He loved being in charge of this beautiful little girl. She belonged to him. It was his sole duty and responsibility to make sure her life stayed in harmony between work and pleasure – between being an adult and being a child.

  Chapter Two

“I’m finished, Daddy,” Harmony sang out from her perch. “Come wipe me.”
