Quinn made me dinner at home tonight, and I feel so happy. I had no idea he was such a good cook. He’s a definite keeper.
Yes.
I’m keeping him forever.
Tomorrow is going to be difficult, I know that, but I also cannot wait to go through with it. I just know that I’ll surprise everyone by not just showing up to dad’s annual birthday breakfast, but also by bringing a man with me.
Can’t wait to see the looks on their faces when we arrive. And I don’t plan on leaving my engagement ring home this time.
Once we’ve finished eating cake, Quinn and I move to the living room. Sitting here, drinking more champagne, I feel like a queen or something.
“I’m really proud of you,” I tell him as he pours me another glass of that sparkling golden liquid.
“You are?”
“Yes. I can’t believe you finished your novel so soon. Didn’t you say when we first met that you thought you’d be finishing it around Christmas at the rate you were going?”
“Something like that, yeah,” he says, and smiles. Putting the champagne bottle down on the table, he turns his attention back to me. “But you’ve just been such an inspiration to me that I couldn’t help but write and write… Every moment that we spend apart, it’s practically the only thing I do. And before I met you… I was struggling. Struggling to the point that I almost thought I’d lost my ability to write. But once you came along, everything changed. You made me realize I still have it in me.”
“Aww, sweetie,” I say, and tilt my head to the side.
“Which is why I want to thank you Nina. I want to thank you for all the joy you’ve brought into my life,” he says, and gets down on his knees.
Splitting my thighs apart, he runs his hands up my legs. His touch makes me shiver, and I instantly sense my nipples stiffening.
Bending over, he licks the inside of my leg with his tongue. Trailing every single inch of my skin from my ankle all the way up to the inside of my thigh, he causes me to tremble. My heart starts beating faster, and I feel myself getting worked up.
Reaching inside my dress, he hooks his fingers into my panties, and then pulls them down slowly. In anticipation of what’s about to come, I close my eyes and lean back on the couch. My chest heaving, I gasp the moment his tongue enters me. I feel myself swelling and throbbing with arousal, and I moan when he takes my sensitive nub into his mouth.
“Quinn…” I mumble, and thrust against his face. I love it when he goes down on me, I just love it. There’s no other feeling like it in the world… And… He always makes me come… “Quinn…”
Eating me out like his life depended on it, Quinn makes me come within minutes. When I do, I scream his name out loud, and feel the wonderful sensation of the orgasm rippling through my entire body.
Once I open my eyes again, I see Quinn’s face. His eyes are simply glowing, and I want him to come too. Which is why I pull him up to my face and kiss him.
Reaching for his crotch, I sense his erection bulging in his pants. He’s hard for me, and I want to please him. It’s the only thing I can think about right now.
Sitting down beside me, Quinn continues to kiss me while I fumble with his belt. Once I’ve pulled down his zipper, I reach inside and wrap my hand around his thick shaft. It’s silky smooth against my palm, and when he thrusts into it, it turns me on all over again. I want him inside of me. I can’t get enough of him.
Turning me around, Quinn makes me sit down on him slowly with my back turned against him. Gently easing himself into me, he holds me by my hips, and once he’s all the way inside of me, he starts moving me up and down his shaft.
“Oh Quinn…” I whimper, and feel my breasts bouncing as I start moving. It always feels like he reaches so much deeper inside of me when he fucks me from behind, and I love it.
“Fuck…” I hear him grunting behind me. “Fuck… Nina… Aww,” he mumbles, breathing into my neck. “You feel so good… So good… Aww…”
Hearing him moan like this is enough to make me come. I erupt when I sit down on him once more, and when I do, I scream out loud. Quinn holds me down hard on him, and I feel him coming with me. Releasing his orgasm deep inside of me, he breathes into my neck and whispers my name.
Next morning, I wake up in Quinn’s arms, feeling absolutely amazing. I’ve got my ring on my finger, and when I open my eyes to admire it, I’m taken by its beauty once again.
I can’t fathom he went and bought me this ring so soon into our relationship. But I’m glad he did. Because now I have something spectacular to show off today.
Waking Quinn with a kiss, I stroke his hair and tell him that I love him before I get ready to go to my dad’s birthday breakfast. It’s something we’ve always done on our birthdays, the whole family meets for breakfast and we celebrate whoever is having their birthday that day. I’m glad mom decided to invite me despite our differences, but I’m still upset about everything.
Why can’t they just be happy for me?
I hope they will be when I tell them about Quinn and introduce him to them. I would be absolutely mortified if they treat him badly, I think to myself and get in the shower.
About half an hour later, Quinn and I get in his car. Before we go see my family, we pick up some gardenias for my dad. They’re his favorite, and although I’m technically still too upset to want to give him a birthday gift, I figure it’s the polite thing to do. I’m going to have to step up and be the bigger person in all of this mess if no one else is doing it.
We arrive at the venue at exactly 9.30 sharp which was when mom said I should be there. I haven’t told her that I’m bringing someone with me, and I’m starting to get real nervous. Clutching Quinn’s hand, I try to feel as confident as I can, and walk inside with my head up high. Quinn’s carrying the flowers in his other hand, and when I turn to look at him one last time before we’re about to face my family, I tell him that it’s all going to be fine, though I’m struggling myself to hold it together.
“Don’t worry about it. It’ll be fine. I’m sure they’ll love you once they get to know you.”
“Okay,” he says, squeezing my hand. “Let’s do this.”
Together we go meet my family. Passing through the main room of the establishment, we enter a private section. As soon as we do, I see my brothers and their spouses, my mother, and my father. But there’s someone else there as well. Someone I definitely hadn’t expected to see here.
Justin.
What the hell is he doing here?
“Nina,” mom says the moment she spots me. “How good you could make it,” she goes on to say, while getting up from her seat. The table is set with white, goldrimmed china, and breakfast has already been served. Mom is dressed in a white Chanel suit and walks over to me with a wide smile on her face and gives me a quick hug.
“Hi mom,” I say, feeling the anger rising inside me. Why did they invite Justin? He doesn’t belong here. He’s not part of our family. He never was.
Dad soon follows, although I can tell he’s acting somewhat aloof, he too comes over to greet me and gives me a hug.
“Happy birthday, dad,” I say, and pause for a moment to glance over my shoulder. Quinn is standing there, looking as handsome as ever.
“I see you brought someone with you?” mom says, her voice perky.
“Yes, mom, dad, this is Quinn,” I say and step aside to give Quinn some room to shake their hands. “Quinn, meet mom and dad.”
“Nice meeting you,” Quinn says, taking my mother’s hand. “And happy birthday to you,” he says when he shakes dad’s hand. “We brought you flowers,” he adds, and gives dad the bouquet of gardenias.
“You brought me gardenias for my birthday?” dad says, and brightens up. “How nice of you, they’re my favorite you know.”
“So Nina said,” Quinn says, and places his hand on the small of my back.
After we’ve all finished saying hello to the rest of my family, and Justin, Quinn and I sit down by the table. Tho
ugh my nerves have calmed down somewhat now, I steel feel a bit anxious about the situation. Not only because Justin’s here, but also because I’m wearing a huge ring on my finger which no one is daring to comment on.
Is no one noticing it?
Or do they simply not care?
Watching dad chat with Justin, I start to feel more and more upset. Doesn’t dad know how much he’s hurting me when he’s behaving this way?
Pouring some milk into my tea cup, I crane my neck to the side. Quinn is sitting right next to me, talking quietly to one of my brothers.
I’m so glad he’s here, despite things being so weird with my family.
And when he turns his head to the side and meets my gaze, he smiles the warmest smile at me, a smile which makes my heart melt.
“So Quinn,” dad says about an hour and a half later. We’ve all finished eating, and the party is starting to break up. “What is it you do for a living?”
That’s so much like dad. It’s the same question he asked Justin when he first met him, and it’s probably his standard catch phrase whenever he meets someone he hasn’t met before. It’s your job that defines you, is what dad always says. According to him, you can judge a person’s character by the kind of job they have. Me, I’m not so sure I’m as convinced of that as he is. I’d rather get to know someone instead of making a bunch of assumptions.
“I’m an author,” Quinn says coolly.
“A writer? Really?”
“Yes.”
“And you manage to make a living writing books?”
“Last time I checked, yes.”
“How interesting,” dad says, and I wonder if he really means it or if he’s just being polite. “Tell me the title of one of your books, please. Maybe I’ve read it?”
“Well, my first novel is called Winter’s Bridge, and my second one is – ”
“You’re Quinn Michaels?” dad blurts out, his eyes wide like saucers.
“Yes,” Quinn says, furrowing his brow.
“Why I love your work,” dad says, much to my surprise. He knows who Quinn is? And he’s read his books? “I’ve read both your novels, they were quite enchanting. Tell me, when’s the next one coming out? I can’t wait to read it.”
“Thank you, it’s always nice to hear people liking what you do. The next one is still in the works, but it’s coming along. Maybe next year.”
Quinn grabs my hand, and I feel so happy and elated that all this is going so well. Actually it’s going way better than I ever could have expected. Looking at Justin, I can tell he’s not very happy about the situation though, he’s not smiling and he’s not engaging in the conversation either.
Good.
Because I’m done with him, and I want him out of my life for good.
While dad continues to talk to Quinn and asks him to sign his copies of both his novels, I take a moment to talk to mom. While I do, I notice Justin vanishing out of sight, which pleases me.
This is nice, and I hope things can stay like this.
Forever.
Chapter 10
QUINN
WHEN IT’S JUST Nina’s parents and us still here, I decide to take charge of the situation. Knowing that part of Nina’s intention of coming here this morning was to tell her parents about our engagement, I feel like I’ve got to help her out. I’ve got to be a man and be her rock.
Nina and I are sitting next to one another by the table, opposite of her parents. They seem like nice and polite people, although I can’t really forget about all the stuff Nina’s told me about them. But I’m glad they’re treating her nicely right now, because if they hadn’t I don’t know what I would have done.
Clearing my throat, I look at Nina’s mother. “Wendy and Bill,” I say, and put my hand on Nina’s back. “There was something Nina and I wanted to tell you.”
“Yes,” Nina says, and lifts her hands onto the table. Her engagement ring is sparkling, and there’s no way her parents don’t see it. “Quinn asked me to marry him, and I said yes.”
“What?” Wendy says, blinking in surprise.
“You’re engaged to be married?” Bill says, sounding stunned, and when Nina and I say yes, his jaw drops.
“Why that’s wonderful, Nina,” Wendy says, and immediately gets up on her feet. Rounding the table, she hugs Nina, while Bill offers me his hand.
“Well congratulations,” Bill says, shaking my hand firmly. “You sure moved fast.”
“Well, if you know it’s right then… Why wait?”
“Why wait, indeed,” Bill says, laughing.
Suddenly, the conversation takes a different turn than I had expected. Though I’m glad that Nina’s parents at least on surface appear to be happy about our engagement, I hadn’t expected them to want to plan an engagement party for us. Not that I don’t want it, because if Nina wants a party, then that’s what she’ll get. And when I look at Nina, I can tell by the look in her eyes that she’s happy. Her amazingly blue marble eyes are glowing in a way I don’t think I’ve seen them glowing before. Which in turn makes me happy.
I’m so glad I’ve found her.
She’s mine.
And I’m going to love her forever.
During our ride back home, I can definitely tell there’s something different about Nina. She’s glowing and she’s bubbly, and I can only guess that it’s because everything went so well this morning.
Passing through L.A., the sun is shining down on us, and I feel happy. Happier than I have in a long while. I’ve got Nina by my side, the most wonderful woman in the world, and my latest novel is finished. What more could a man ask for?
It’s like I can’t even remember what life was like before I met Nina. Not that I want to think about it either. I’m in a much better place now.
Thinking about it, I decide here and now that my one goal in life is going to be to please Nina. Nothing is ever going to come between us. And nothing is ever going to stop me from bringing happiness to her.
My desire to be with Nina only increases the closer we get to being home. And by the time I pull up on Mulholland Drive, I’ve got my hand between her legs. Clutching her ample thighs, I yearn to stick my fingers into her, and I cannot wait to get her inside the house to that I can hear her moan again.
Parking the car, I’ve got one thing on my mind. And it’s to make Nina come.
My erection is already hard in my pants, and I cannot wait to push into her.
My fiancée.
My life.
My love.
Forever.
Once inside the house, I scoop her up into my arms and kiss her. Nina locks her arms around my neck, and continues to kiss me while I carry her into the bedroom. We both rush to get ourselves undressed, and the moment we’re naked, we lie down on the bed together.
We’re both just as hungry to make love, and we waste no time.
Spreading her legs widely for me, she exposes her center before my eyes. She’s wet, and glistening, and it makes me throb with longing to penetrate her.
Looking into Nina’s beautiful, beautiful eyes, I mount her, and tell her that I love her. “I’ll always love you, Nina,” I say, and push into her.
Nina moans when I enter her, and I feel her tightness stretching around me. It feels so good, and I start pumping hard and fast into her. Shutting her eyes, she starts panting. Her body moves each time I push into her, and whenever I hear her moan, it turns me on even more.
It’s the most beautiful sound in the world.
“Oh god… Quinn…” she mumbles, her mouth remaining open as she breathes heavily while we fuck.
Feeling her hard nipples against my chest, I grunt as I continue thrusting into her. The more I keep pumping my cock inside her, the closer I feel myself getting ready to climax. I always feel like I’m on the verge of coming straight away when I’m with Nina, and it’s a struggle to hold myself back.
“Aww Nina,” I mumble. “Nina, baby… Aww, yeah…. You feel so good baby… You feel so good baby…”
/>
“Quinn, I love you,” Nina wails suddenly, and I feel her warm wetness clasping around my shaft. Hollering loudly, she creases her forehead and tilts her head backwards as she comes. The sight of her orgasming is all I need to make me come too, and when I do, I scream her name.
“I love you Nina,” I whisper as I pull out of her. “I always will.”
“And I’ll always love you too, Quinn. Always.”
Looking into her eyes, I know that she means it. I believe her. And in my heart I know that we’ll always be together from now on.
“Quinn?” she says, while I lie down next to her. Her body is hot and sweaty, and I like it. I love the way she looks, feels, and smells after we’ve made love.
“Yeah?”
“Do you want a big wedding and an engagement party and all that stuff mom and dad talked about?”
“It doesn’t really matter what I want, does it? It’s what you want that matters.”
“Yeah, I know you keep saying those things, but I need to know if you want it. Do you?”
“I guess I do. I mean, before I met you I didn’t even think that I was ever going to get married, so I haven’t given big weddings much thought. But now that I think about it… Yeah. I mean, of course I want a big wedding. Naturally, I want the world to know about our love for one another.”
Nina beams when I say these things, and my heart swells.
I love her, I love her so much.
“I love you Quinn.”
“I love you Nina.”
My dear sweet beautiful Nina.
You hold my heart in your hands.
And you always will.

Epilogue
NINA
AS ALWAYS IN beautiful California, the sun is shining. I’m lying in my bed, glancing out the window. It’s still early morning, and my husband of five years is out on his regular morning run. Me, I’m just waiting for him to come back and make love to me. He always gets in the mood after he’s been working out, so I know it won’t be long until I have him inside of me again.
