by Brigid George

As a teenager she had short stories published in one of Australia’s national magazines, New Idea. Since then she has won several awards for her stories which have also been published in anthologies.

Brigid still lives in the state of Victoria but is now in the capital city of Melbourne where her life is fertile with friends.

Brigid George is the pseudonym of JB Rowley – author of Whisper My Secret, Mother of Ten and the children’s series Trapped in Gondwana. Why Brigid George? Brigid because that was what JB’s father called her. George because that was his first name.

Walkara is a fictional suburb of Byron Bay. The name is an anagram of Arakwal – the name of the Aboriginal people of the Byron Bay area. The Arakwal people are the recognised custodians of Byron Bay, a subgroup of the Bunjalung tribes of North East NSW.

  Review the book

If you have time to post a review on Amazon after you read the book, that would be enormously helpful – just a few words would be fine. Many thanks to all who have taken the time to review my other books.

  Dedication

The Dusty Kent series is dedicated to my father, George Rowley; a good man who died too young.

  Acknowledgements

As with Murder in Murloo, I have benefitted enormously from first-rate manuscript guidance by crime fiction editor, Lisanne Radice.

The generous support from my beta readers (Anita Marshall, Brenda Telford, E.J. Terry, Gael Cresp, Judi Hillyear and Sheila O’Shea) has been invaluable. That’s why I don’t pay them; I just couldn’t afford it!

My sincere appreciation to Sharon Arthur of Ardem@Byron who showed me the delights of Byron Bay.

Thank you to the ‘informal consultants’ who have helped in so many ways. Some have offered information; some have suggested excellent ideas while others have assisted with research and/or acted as my personal assistant.

Many thanks to Daniel Green who, across the pool table at The Beach Hotel, suggested I use his name for a character. An excellent suggestion.

Friends and family members have, as always, provided the much needed foundation of moral support.

The Friday Writers and the Writers’ Lunch Group continue to provide invaluable feedback and support.

My heartfelt appreciation to all those who have read my other books and made wonderful comments that have validated and encouraged me as a writer.
