The cute, beautiful human I once knew was gone and in her place sat a leader who I loved more than ever. As I watched her settle disputes and toss out those who had betrayed us, I fell more and more in love with every passing minute. She had all the same powers as Leticia once had, yet she was kinder and fairer to our kin and they adored her.
If only I didn’t know what was to come. I was to die, so the shadow in the in-between had said. How it would happen, I still didn’t know. Juniper had such powers, she would protect me no matter what, surely?
After she’d fully realised her powers, our sex life became more than animalistic because I freely allowed her to read my mind, too and we fucked all over the castle and outside—nothing off the table to us. However, I’d had to start hiding thoughts of my impending death from her because I didn’t want our time together ruined.
I wanted for nothing where Juniper was concerned but I desperately needed to know what was going to transpire to bring about my death. With summer nearing its end, I grew more and more afraid.
THEN one night a seeming stranger came knocking on our front door. Somehow, someone had got past all the security measures we had in place. My love told the guards to let the guest in (whoever he or she was). Juniper wasn’t scared of anything and seemed assured she could tackle anyone or any situation. After all, she had witchcraft and strength on her side.
So, the guards showed a man into the Throne Room.
I sat by Juniper’s side on the throne and the guest strode toward us and declared, “Fabien, you must pay!”
The first thing I noticed was the man seemed familiar. Looking closer I realised it was Louis, the man who had brought me into contact with Jaimie, Juniper’s twin.
The second thing I noticed was he was a vampire.
The third, more striking matter to catch my attention was that as I read his mind, I learned that since he’d become this creature, Jaimie had left him and taken her pregnant belly with her—to her damnable mother’s!
“Louis, good to see you,” Juniper said calmly, “now tell me, what of my sister?”
Louis growled, “It doesn’t matter! I’m here to kill this bastard! Without him, I wouldn’t be THIS!”
I realised then, Louis must have been bitten during the period of time our kind was roaming free, before Juniper realised her powers and recalled everyone. Even if Louis had only been bitten once during that period, I had previously bitten him, and so his fate was sealed. Two bites, and you were out. It was the rule.
“You will die,” he said, looking directly into my eyes, and I looked sideways to Juniper, who looked afraid.
Would she fight her brother-in-law, or let him take my life?
“Now, now,” she said, standing and walking toward Louis while I remained seated, “you can start by telling me how you found us and how you got past the guard.”
“I had some help,” he said with a wicked smile, and I knew.
I just knew.
From the other side, Leticia was helping him.
Death wasn’t the end, not for someone as powerful and evil as her.
She had a new puppet and she’d chosen well.
He began bounding past Juniper, and toward me, but my lover didn’t react quick enough. I didn’t know what to do, either. I couldn’t find it in me to fight back because he had children growing in Jaimie’s belly. Twins, I read from his mind. I saw his eyes before I felt his fangs attack me. He was extraordinarily strong, as was his bite.
Events that happened next escaped me as I reeled in the aftermath of such a brutal attack. Then, there was nothing but Juniper’s whispers in my ear as I was apparently saved, but drained almost to death, laid prostrate on the cold floor.
“Hold on, hold on my love,” she asked, “hold on,” she said giving me her wrist to suckle on.
From the corner of my eye, I saw Louis restrained by a dozen guards and the telltale sign she’d had to strike him with a bolt of magic, the shirt on his back still burning.
I am going to die, even if not today, then soon, I thought, and Juniper’s eyes looked into mine as though she knew the very same thing.
I was doomed.
Part Three:
Prophecy
FABIEN
Mid-August
LOUIS, STILL RESTRAINED by the queen’s loyal guards, had more than proved his newfound strength in attacking and almost killing me. His new powers would wane slightly though, like they did for the rest of us after The Change, and I had no doubt I would be the stronger again. For then though, I was weaker and even with Juniper’s blood renewing me and her love keeping me, I was sure this was it—I would die this night. I had been warned I would die and this was surely the night I had been waiting for. Let us get this over with, I told myself privately, trying to keep my thoughts from the queen, my lover, who knew everything about me—every waking thought, desire and past misdemeanour.
“Fabien, fly out and feed while I deal with this runaway, will you?” Juniper asked, her green eyes overtaken by amber light, the colour of her disdain.
“I will not leave you,” I insisted.
“I need to feed and I’m not feeding from any of these lowlifes. Go now and renew and bring me back plenty.”
Being the queen, she never fed from anyone lower than she and I was her only equal. I agreed with a subtle nod of my head and snarled as I passed Louis, his teeth gnashing as he fought his shackles. I left the Throne Room behind and flew straight out into the night, seeking the sounds of the nearest humans. Just beyond the boundaries of Valdoria, I found my victims. In haste, I overfed and killed one, but I was anxious to get back home.
WHEN I regained sanctuary at Krill Castle not more than half an hour later, I was presented with a different scene. Louis, with no restraints or guards in sight, knelt before the queen as she sat high and mighty on her throne.
“Fabien, quickly now,” she called, and I launched across the room as fast as I could, giving her my wrist the moment I was within her reach.
CHOMP. Her fangs pierced me with eagerness and the sounds of feasting were more than animal, they were predatory and demanding, vicious and desperate. Everyday, she grew more aware of her magical powers and wore her new majesty with more confidence. She was queen and nobody could deny her intelligence, physical strength nor witchcraft. Like Leticia before her, she was exceedingly powerful. The former queen was killed by the human version of Juniper so easily and something about that still didn’t sit right with me.
“No more, my love, otherwise I will have to feast again!” I warned her, her hunger growing more voracious by the day.
She tore herself away and licked her lips, gesturing at the man before us, still knelt with his head bowed.
“To bring you up to speed,” she said, looking at me, “I sought my sister’s mind and found her with our mother, surprise, surprise. She told me she wants nothing more to do with the beast that is her husband because though she was sympathetic to his predicament at first, he tried to taste her against her will!”
Juniper laughed, as though this was a joke, when it was anything but.
“She’s pregnant!” Louis growled. “Her blood is so fragrant! You try staving off when she’s so beautiful and smells so pure and rich! My thirst has been rampant ever since I became… this!”
I folded my arms and looked down on him. “How long now?”
“Thirty days!”
I looked at Juniper and we agreed it seemed about right. It would be another thirty before the thirst tapered off. Until then, he would be rabid for blood, sex and murder. The initial days of a vampire’s life were guaranteed to test the mettle of a bloodsucker’s capability to hunt, kill and keep from human harm, too.
My arms remained folded and I peered at my love. “Why did your vampire radar not see him? Post-change, he should’ve become clear to you, surely?”
“A trick of someone’s?” she replied.
“Some vile wretch lives within the body of your mother!” Louis screamed, his eyes s
till lowered. I realised Juniper had placed him within an invisible Lunar Circle and he was at her will until she freed him from the bonds of the full moon’s power.
“Leticia, is that her name?” I dared ask, trying to overcome a distraction to my left.
My cock always levered in Juniper’s presence, her body so beautiful, her thoughts always so savage.
“That’s her. She has taken the mind of my mother-in-law. She plays nice while in Jaimie’s presence, but shows herself to me, and me alone.” It made sense. If Leticia was still floating in this universe, she could easily take the mind of someone so weak, and indeed she’d already taken the mother-in-law’s mind in the past. Obviously Leticia’s power had blocked Louis’s change from Juniper’s telepathic reach. In fact, we should have asked ourselves whether Leticia was blocking other vampires, too. We thought we’d brought them all back home, but obviously that wasn’t the case.
He continued… “The bitch told me of this place, told me it existed and warned I should be with my own kind. I refused. I told her Jaimie and I would figure it out, I’d find a cure—but my wife would not return home to me and remained at her mother’s. She could see the hunger I possessed for her and it frightened her. One night, as I watched her sleep, I couldn’t help myself. I just needed a little taste. She woke to find me nibbling and licking blood from her earlobe and she screamed for me to leave, to go, and so I did! I left! I came here to find a way of reversing this and if there isn’t that, then you must die Fabien… you must die for turning me and ruining my whole life!”
He was right. I deserved to die. His wife carried twins (human twins!) but now wanted nothing more to do with him. He should’ve lived a grand old life and had more children with the woman who would have remained his faithful wife forever—without this! That life, for him, was now all gone. He was now an animal, like us.
I turned to stare into the queen’s eyes and what stared back terrified me. She felt sexually attracted to Louis. He was in fact beautiful in vampiric form but so far, she and I hadn’t shared lovers and I hadn’t anticipated this would ever crop up—for us.
“Fabien, I’m yours,” she said and laughed in a shrill manner, trying to throw me off my fear. However, I could see the thoughts she harboured—not just one cock inside her, but two—and it wasn’t easy to shake off stirrings of her lust once imprinted on my mind. Always she insisted she was mine and yet, she was so powerful, I misjudged her loyalty to me as pity. She could have had any one of the young men in our company but she only ever wanted me—the most ancient, aged vampire amongst our coven—a mantle Leticia held until she died.
I was paranoid that one day, Juniper would want more, and perhaps this was now. Leticia had always wanted more and sharing bodies was what I was used to, but Juniper… she was meant to love me. Though clearly, she wanted this Louis fellow now too. It was in her nature to want the strongest males of our pride.
“Louis, look at your queen as she doles out your punishment for attacking her prince.”
Louis raised his beyond-furious eyes and blinked rapidly, trying to hide the fact he was weeping blood—the one, sure sign a vampire had been taken to their brink because we never, ever wasted blood, least of all for tears.
“You will not attack Fabien again, not unless I ask you to. For the rest of your thirst, you shall be imprisoned in the dungeon with daily rations brought to your cell to keep you well. After thirty days, we’ll let you free to live with us here. You must abide by our rules and live our life. You’re one of us now; there is no reversing our curse, not without death.”
He flashed his fangs and nodded, his eyes sweeping to the floor again in self-pity.
“Perhaps when you have the thirst under control, you might find an audience with Jaimie once more? Few vampires have managed it but some have lived a normal life… at great peril to their secrets breaking out granted, but some did manage it. So until it is safe to return, behave. Though my mother and Leticia both be insane, Jaimie will take care of herself. She has to protect those babies; they’re the only pieces she has left of you, for now.”
Louis nodded and used the heel of one hand to wipe his tears, smearing blood everywhere. The smell of his rich, new mixture made my nose twitch and Juniper’s, too.
He smells delicious, doesn’t he? my lover communicated, her telepathy reaching me soundless.
Too good, I replied, smelling the traces of innocence he still possessed, the remnants of humanity he had yet to let go of. It was an arousing prospect for an old vampire such as myself who craved to remember what it was like to be human and also thirsted after such a rich broth.
“I hear you both, you sons of bitches. Just take me to the pits, will you? And no, I will not fuck you up the arse, you fucking slag.”
Wow. Few newborn vampires possessed the power of telepathy right away.
Aghast, Juniper screamed, “Guards! Guards!”
The royal guards rushed in and Juniper demanded, “Starve him for the rest of today. He’s been an insolent, little fool.”
Juniper took away the invisible ring of magic, cautioning Louis not to act foolishly once he was freed from her spell. As soon as the circle descended, we all prepared for his attack. However, in submission, he bowed his head and walked amongst the guards, letting them surround him as they took him into the bowels of the castle and further into his own, private Hell where only hunger and denial of his new self awaited.
The doors of the Throne Room shut and with only she and I left inside, she growled, “Let’s fuck, oh darling, let’s fuck.”
We raced for her daybed hidden behind velvet curtains and drew them for privacy. It was unlikely anyone would enter the room, but you never knew.
“I could feel how hard you were… are… just from your thoughts,” she gasped as we writhed in the luxurious cushions. I ripped the dress from her shoulders and grazed my nails along her arms. I was so hard, my cock prickled inside my pants, the constraint too uncomfortable.
“Oh my love, you are very desperate… even he could tell you wanted him! How your desires control you.” I urged her to confess, my tongue trailing from her throat to her breast as I peeled away her clothes entirely. We usually fucked immediately but today we were taking our time.
I sent her the taste of her own, rosy nipples to her mind so it was almost as if she were licking them herself. She grew desperate, her eyes the fire of lust, her legs spreading and demanding I loosen my trousers.
I needed to break free. My cock was so sore for wanting her smooth, wet entry.
She tore my shirt in half and threw it across the room. I ripped the dress from beneath her and in one, swift move I tore down my zip. My cock released, I drove into her until my bollocks pushed against her ass. All ten inches.
She was used to me now and anyway, vampires were barren, with no limits. At first my size was too much and I used to shorten it for her. Now she always asked for every inch of me.
“Fabien,” she murmured, her eyes green, finally at peace, “oh my, there’s someone coming!”
I was too consumed by the velvet embrace of her soft belly to realise she was right. Someone had dared enter the Throne Room without invitation.
FABIEN
THE CURTAIN WAS drawn back and stood there buck-naked, Louis growled, “Even twelve guards didn’t manage to contain the sin you’ve put in me. I’ve seen your wicked thoughts and like a disease, they’ve overtaken me now and I can’t help but want to partake.”
I snarled, baring my teeth. “Get away.”
“No,” Juniper held my shoulders from beneath me, “no, Fabien. Do not deny me what we all want.”
Her breasts were so hard against me, I decided she had never been so aroused. Louis was endowed and his body aroused me, too. He had the most beautiful dusting of hair across his belly and chest, just an infantile pup. I smelt his blood, and wanted it. I wanted his innocence and to steal it entirely, to gobble it up and wrench the last remains of humanity from his soul. I wanted to eat him alive, so
did Juniper.
She whipped me over so I was on my back and as she did this, she kissed me, groaning. You’re mine and I’m yours, Fabien, she reminded me as she straddled me, though the need to repeat herself made me suspicious—made me realise words were just words.
I felt the bed dip behind her and the hiss from Louis who said, “I can almost kid myself you’re her… aside from the fact you’re wicked and she’s still pure as the driven snow.”
“I am wicked,” she murmured as she squeezed me inside her, her walls pulsing. She reached back and pulled Louis so his knees rested either side of my legs and his cock came up to brush her asshole.
I hissed when I felt a brief whisper of his foreskin against my shaft, buried in her, so close to where he was going to penetrate.
Trickles of desire ran from my cock and she begged him, “Now, Louis. It’s what we all want.”
“But you’ve no lubrication?”
“There will be plenty,” she assured him, “please, now.”
The three of us pulsing and throbbing, our sexes controlling us, our minds linked and sharing sexual as well as bloodlust, I felt the beginnings of madness wash over me. This would take us out of ourselves all night, no doubt. Vampires were no slaves to inhibition. We wanted all, we took all. We held our logic intact until our animal selves took over, as quick as a flash, rendering us beasts.
Without art, he teased her open with his nails and shoved himself inside her. She screamed for mercy, her virgin hole tearing. She healed at once, the blood remaining, and Louis was so pent-up, he came instantaneously, pumping his nectar inside her.
“Lube,” she whispered to me in such a sinful voice, I reached round for Louis’s ass and pushed him as deep into her as he would reach.
