Without Warning Page 17

“Unnngh.” The sound ripped from Ryder.

Ryder groaned loudly, his thrusts growing sporadic until he slammed in and froze. Their eyes met and clung. Ryder’s whole body stiffened and then jerked with a few more grunts and grew still.

Easing forward, Ryder drew him into his arms and buried his face against his neck. Harrison trailed his fingers over the man’s sweat-soaked shoulders and raked his short nails down Ryder’s back and up to his damp nape.

He caressed his hair as Ryder fought for breath. Harrison couldn’t remember a time when he’d been fucked so thoroughly.

Brown eyes suddenly caught his when the man’s head lifted. Sweat dripped down Ryder’s temples, darkening his hair. Hands slowly released his ass, and Harrison slipped his wobbling legs to the floor until his feet touched.

Ryder stepped back and Harrison kept going, down to his knees, holding the man’s glittering gaze. He tugged off the condom and tossed it.

Licking at his bottom lip, he let his teeth chew for a moment and flicked out his tongue to lick at the crown of Ryder’s semi-hard cock. Tasting the cum there, he licked again.

“Fuck,” Ryder breathed, placing one hand to the wall. The man’s eyes were glued to what his tongue was doing before catching his own stare and holding it.

Harrison closed his mouth around the head and Ryder swelled to hardness again. His cock was beautiful, long and thick with a flared head to die for, and Harrison swirled his tongue around the head and slipped only the tip back into his mouth where he sucked on it.

“Fuck yeah.” Ryder let out a hoarse groan, closing his eyes and planting both hands on the wall.

Harrison was finally released from Ryder’s intense look. He slipped his wet lips up and down the rock hard shaft before popping the tip into his mouth. With one long move, he pushed down on the cock, taking him to the root. He stayed there, Ryder’s harsh breathing filling the room.

Slowly, he slid off the dick until he was only sucking on the head. Tonguing the slit, he toyed with the edge of the vein beneath the flared, swollen head with the flat of his tongue.

He ran his hands softly up the back of Ryder’s thighs, the hair tickling his palms.

“You’re killing me,” Ryder complained harshly.

Smiling inwardly, he continued his torment until Ryder removed a hand from the wall and forced his head inward. The cock popped over his tongue.

Harrison would have crowed with triumph if he hadn’t been so fucking turned on.

Oh, fuck yes, fuck my mouth!

He groaned, encouraging Ryder. The man must have read his mind because Ryder’s other hand joined the first.

Then Ryder’s hands fisted in his hair, holding him still while his cock slowly pistoned in and out of his mouth.

Harrison groaned when Ryder took control, doing it his way. The man, bent on tormenting him, kept each thrust slow.

Harrison whined—he wanted to feel it shoved to the back of his throat. He tried to close his mouth to keep the cock inside with each thrust, but Ryder wouldn’t allow it. In fact, the man pulled his cock all the way out to tease it over his swollen lips.

“Fuck me,” he begged, scratching at the back of Ryder’s thighs.

Fingers fisted and tightened in his hair and the pain stung. His cock grew thick and jerked between his legs. Harrison moaned.

  Ryder shoved deep.

Finally! Yes! He gagged around the thick cock and swallowed. When Ryder did it again, he gagged and swallowed again. Cum dripped from his own cock as it bounced between his legs with every thrust. He raced his hands upward and moved his fingers up and down the crease of Ryder’s ass.

The pungent taste of Ryder’s seed coated his tongue. He made a high-pitched noise when his own release grew close, and that apparently sent Ryder over the edge.

With his face shoved into dark pubic hair, Harrison gagged on Ryder’s cock and swallowed as it erupted inside his mouth. Coating the back of his throat and tongue, he swallowed as much as he could, and the rest spilled out the side of his stretched mouth and over his lips and chin.

Harrison reached between his legs and jerked fast and wildly at his own cock.

Ryder gave a few more thrusts inside his mouth, and Harrison shot his load against the man’s legs and the floor beneath him.

Ryder grew still, and tight fingers loosened and caressed his scalp. Harrison slipped the cock from his mouth and licked his lips.

Tipping his head back, he gazed upward. Ryder reached down and lifted him to his feet and the room tilted as he was lifted and carried into the shower.

  “Oh, I love shower sex.”

Ryder laughed loudly. “You’re going to have to give me some recouping time.”

Harrison laughed and returned the kiss that was dropped to his lips. “Okay. But just so you know. For future reference.”

Ryder smiled and plunked him beneath the warming spray.

He gasped and tugged Ryder in with him beneath the water. His hands went to Ryder’s shoulder and the intricate design on the opposite arm from the eagle. The main piece was an ancient compass surrounded by names and a few places with maps threaded through the design. He traced his fingers over the patterns and letters.

“It was torture,” he said, sweeping his eyes upward.

“What was?” Ryder paused in getting the soap.

  “Waiting.”

Ryder chuckled, soaped up his hands, and stepped closer. “But so damned worth it.”

“Oh, god yes,” Harrison moaned and arched beneath the big soapy hands.

Wandering out onto the porch, he sank into the large deck chair and set his breakfast plate on the small table. Pulling his legs up into the chair, he felt something hard rattle in his pocket and pulled the small bottle of half used nausea medicine. He couldn’t remember when he’d last needed to take any pills.

Setting the bottle aside, he took a bite of the hot biscuit he’d just pulled out of the oven and hit the call button on his phone.

“Hey babe? Wazzup,” August answered on the first ring and the happiness in his voice made him smile.

“I’m in love,” he whispered, darting a quick glance toward the door. He shifted on the front porch cushioned chair and draped his legs over the arm.

“OMG,” August squealed, yelling into the phone so much that Harrison had to pull it away from his ear for a few seconds.

  “Tell me everything!”

“Well, I can’t tell you everything, but…oh my god, August, it’s unlike anything I’ve ever felt before.”

“He makes the sun seem brighter?”

“He makes the world seem brighter.” He kept his voice low. He didn’t want to freak Ryder out. “But I can’t really go into that right now, if you know what I mean.”

“I do,” August laughed, and then sobered. “So, what’s going on with the other stuff?”

Harrison gave a sigh and nibbled on his nail. “They brought my stepmother in for questioning. They think she might have hired someone to try and kill me.”

“That bitch! I never liked her!”

  “I know.”

“I hope they give her life.”

  “They couldn’t hold her.”

  “What?” August’s voice rose.

“Yeah. They could only hold her for seventy-two hours before they released her. Something about circumstantial evidence. There’s not enough to hold her and she didn’t admit to anything.”

  “Well, crap. Any other suspects?”

“They brought Toby in a while ago for questioning and more recently, Shelby and John, but everyone was released as well.”

“Toby? The guy from your work that’s your friend?”

“He is, he called me and swears he had nothing to do with any of it.”

  “What about this Shelby character?”

“He’s more persistent and truthfully, makes me wonder. But he’s the head of my video feed division. Dad hired him and you know how stringent his hiring process and tests were.” He sighed. />
“Yeah, I remember, but I’m positive the test didn’t include any stalker questions.”

  “True,” he agreed.

“What about that other guy? The one you dated?”

“Edward Crane? Detective Carson said the guy has an alibi for the day I was attacked.”

  “Hmmm and who’s John?”

“He wouldn’t hurt a fly. He didn’t even know what they were talking about from what Carson told me. So, from this point, I don’t know. They don’t have anyone in custody.”

  “Oh honey, I’m so sorry.”

“Thanks. I want whomever it is caught.”

  “For good.”

“Yes, so I can have a normal life again.”

“And a new man to fill it.”

“I hope so. I haven’t said anything to him, but …well, we’ll see.”

“Don’t jinx it!” his friend laughed.

  Harrison smiled. “I won’t.”

The sound of a suitcase wheeling across the floor came from inside the door.

“Ryder’s taking me on a trip.”

  “Where to?”

“He said he doesn’t want to share me with the world.” He sighed, a bit dreamy. “It’s a surprise.”

  “Ooooh, I love surprises.”

“I know you do,” Harrison chuckled.

“Okay, babe. I’ll let you go. Be safe.”

“Wait, when will you be back? Your last text said something about coming back sooner?”

“Yes! I hope to be back next week.”

  “Awesome, remember the secret knock.”

  “I will.”

  “Okay, bye, August.”

  “Bye.”

He stretched out the soreness in his legs and smiled. They’d spent the last several days making love on every surface of the cabin and in every position they could think of.

His phone buzzed, and he smiled seeing Toby’s number.

  “Hey, you.”

  “Hey, Harrison. How are you?”

He could hear the smile in Toby’s voice.

“I’m really good, Toby. Really good.”

“Well, I have bad news. Two days ago, the new upgrade crashed again. Shelby took everything down again and told us there’ll be another delay.”

“What?” He frowned. “Did he give a reason for the crash?”

“One I don’t get about damage to the storage space,” Toby said.

“Maybe he meant we need more space,” he murmured.

“I let both detectives know. They said to call if anything else went wrong with the upgrade.”

  “Oh. Okay, thank you.”

“Maybe they’ll arrest Shelby and you can come home.”

  “Why would they arrest Shelby?”

“It’s suspicious. That detective Carson thinks so.”

“Did Carson pick Shelby up?” Harrison asked.

  “No,” Toby said.

“It’s innocent until proven guilty,” he reminded Toby.

  “I guess.”

“Have Shelby call me the minute you see him.”

“I will, but he hasn’t been in the office for two days.”

Harrison couldn’t recall Shelby asking for time off and frowned.

“Okay, when he gets back, tell him that I want you working on the storage problem. Do me a favor, stop by Marty’s desk—”

  “I’m not in the office.”

What the hell? Was anyone working today?

“Okay, well, I want you to bring in outside help to get the problem fixed. I want it done and the system back on line again ASAP. I don’t care what it costs.”

  “When are you coming home?”

“I’m not sure. Not for a while, though.”

  “You sound…different.”

  “I’m happy.”

  “Oh?”

  “I’ve found the one.”

His smile grew and butterflies swirled in his stomach just talking about Ryder.

  “The one? Who?”

  “Ryder.”

“You’re fucking kidding me? He’s not good enough for you!”

“That really isn’t any of your business.” His stomach turned sour in the face of his friend’s sudden anger. For some crazy reason, he thought that Toby would be happy for him.

  “I have to go.”

“I’m sorry, don’t hang up,” Toby begged.

“I’m sorry too. I need to go,” he said and gently hung up on Toby’s pleading voice.

He sighed and stood. Not everyone was going to be happy that he was with Ryder. He still had to tell his uncle. Not that he cared what others thought. He only worried they’d try and treat Ryder poorly. Then he reminded himself that Ryder knew the ins and outs and how to navigate in his world. Which posed the question, did Ryder want to take that on again?

He pulled at his lip and then fired off a text to Shelby to call with an update regarding the upgrade system crash.

His phone buzzed, and seeing as it was Toby again, he tucked it away.

  “Harrison?”

He spun toward the doorway and smiled. Ryder looked amazing in blue jeans that fit snug to his hips, so snug that they drew his eyes to the bulge there. A skin-tight t-shirt molded over a rock-hard chest and strained around biceps strong enough to bench press him. Black combat boots and a black leather jacket finished off the look.

Ryder looked absolutely delicious. He was so thankful he’d gone for his own tight jeans and button down when Ryder’s brown eyes looked him up and down, accompanied by the rakish smile that set his pulse throbbing.

“Let’s go try out the bed again,” he whispered huskily.

Ryder smirked and shook his head. “Nope. Come on, I have a surprise for you.”

He sighed dramatically, making the man chuckle. “Oh, very well.” His lips stretched into a smile and his gaze grew soft.

  “Ready?”

“Yes. Oh wait! I heard from Toby that the video upgrade crashed. Shelby took everything offline and has delayed the upgrade while storage space is being investigated.”

“That’s not good. Can you get Brian on the phone?” Ryder asked.

“Sure.” Harrison pulled out his cell and dialed his head of building security. Since the detectives had cleared Brian Sanders of any involvement, Harrison had talked at length with Ryder about devising a game plan to increase Trudel’s security.

  “Sanders,” Brian answered.

  “Brian, it’s Harrison.”

The phone cut out and then dropped dead.

“That’s odd.” He frowned and called again.

  “Harrison?”

  “Yeah.”

“Sorry about that. New truck and I always think I have to push a button to disconnect my phone from the Bluetooth when I park.”

Harrison smiled. “It’s okay. You’re on speaker phone. Ryder is here with me. Hang on.” He held out the phone a bit.

“Brian, did you hear about the system crashing after the upgrade?”

“I heard,” Brian growled. “What do you need from me?”

“I don’t know how long the upgrade will be delayed. When we get back, we’ll discuss you taking on the security at Harrison’s apartment building. I need you to continue being hyper vigilant and call a temporary service to beef up your staff until then,” Ryder said, holding his gaze.

“I’ll do it when I get to the office,” Brian said.

“Thank you, Brian,” Harrison said quietly.

“Thanks,” Ryder said. “Let’s do a weekly check in to keep all of us up to speed. Doable?”

“Yes, sir. I’ll call you next week,” Brian said and rang off.

Harrison grinned. “Well, that went better than expected.”

“Now that he knows the situation, Brian strikes me as a man who will take charge of your safety and the company’s above everything.”

He smiled, tucked his phone away, and stepped up to wrap his arms around Ryder’s waist.

  “Now, about that bed?”

  Ryder chuckled and p
lanted a long, delicious kiss on his lips.

“Load up the bags while I lock up the place and set the alarm,” Ryder said after kissing him thoroughly.

“Fine,” he huffed with a pout and lifted the bags to tuck them away in the back of the vehicle.

Ryder locked the place and set the alarm.

“Where are you taking me?” he asked for the millionth time after he climbed into the SUV and buckled his seatbelt.

“It’s a secret,” Ryder repeated once he was behind the wheel.

  “I hate secrets,” he pouted.

  “No, you don’t.” Ryder smirked.

“Okay, I don’t hate them, but they drive me crazy.”

Ryder turned the ignition over and the SUV was dead.

  “Harrison.” Ryder’s voice sounded strained.

  “Yes?” He swallowed hard.

“Grab your back pack. Wait for me to get out, I’m going to come around.”

“Okay,” he whispered with a sick stomach. This couldn’t be happening, not here in their idealistic paradise. He grabbed his backpack, wanting to scream, but before he could think further on it, Ryder was around the SUV and opening the door.

Sliding out, he slipped the backpack straps over his shoulders and shut the car door.

A shot rang out and a hole punched into the passenger side rear door, followed by two more shots. Ryder hunched down and pulled him around the opposite side of the vehicle from the shooter. Bullets pinged off the front fender of the SUV.

“Run!” Ryder barked, guiding him toward the cabin. Racing around the side of the house, Harrison sprinted for the trail head that led to where they’d hiked the other day. With a pounding heart, he easily made it up the steep incline with his newly purchased hiking boots. Reaching the top, another shot rang out and he glanced back.

“Don’t look back, baby, run and don’t look back!” Ryder rasped, right on his ass.

He slipped and his hand landed hard in the dirt and a rock gouged his palm, but Ryder was there, lifting him up with an arm around his waist.

Please don’t let Ryder get hurt, he silently prayed.

“You should get in front of me. He won’t shoot me,” he cried. No way in hell was he losing Ryder. Fuck! All he could picture was Ryder lying dead and there wouldn’t be a damned thing he could do about it.
