We say goodnight and she exits the room.
Wow. What a night. I really hope things cool down soon.
It’s one thing to have one or two people flirt with you at the club, but I am just not used to this kind of attention. Not to mention all the emotions that seem to go along with it.
I pop into the shower for a quick rinse off before heading to bed, then wrap myself in one towel and my hair in another and walk out towards the bed. It’s amazing how much better you can feel after a nice shower.
“Ugh, I forgot to ask Craze if she has anything I can sleep in tonight,” I mutter as I stare at my dirty bar clothes on the floor.
I can’t wear those sticky club floor clothes to bed, and I don’t exactly trust sleeping naked in this house—everyone probably has a key to this door. Hopefully, I can catch her before she gets that itch scratched.
I giggle and walk out into the hallway, pausing as I turn my head left and right.
Now which room did she say it was? I think it was this hallway over here, third door.
I knock, but no one answers. So, I slowly open the door and walk in to a stunning, modern-style bedroom.
At least I don’t see any naked bodies gyrating on the bed. No itches being scratched.
“Craze, are you in here?” I call out thinking she’s hiding behind the door that leads to what I’m assuming is a gigantic closet, ensuite, or both. No one replies.
I’m drawn to the large floor-to-ceiling window on the other side of the room, which is letting in enough light that you’d think it was morning already. I walk and stand at the window staring outside into the night.
“Wow, the moon is beautiful!” I whisper shout. “It’s so big and bright.”
I’m completely mesmerised by the moon and stand there for several minutes, caught in a trance.
“I told you I’d get you in my bedroom tonight, sugar,” a voice growls from behind me, almost causing me to jump through the glass. I turn and immediately throw a punch, hitting Blaze in the upper arm.
“Woah, easy there, sugar,” he says, rubbing his arm. “I’m a lot of man to catch if you knock me out.”
“Who says I would catch you?” I smirk. “Maybe you deserve to fall on your face when you sneak up on someone like that.”
That is when I notice the scene in front of me. Blaze is standing there in all his glory. Fresh out of the shower—buck naked with tiny droplets of water covering his entire body and glistening in the moonlight. I follow a droplet as it drips from his hair and makes its way down his muscular chest, to his rippling abs, and down to his…
Wow!
I’m not one who thinks men’s equipment is by any means beautiful, but I cannot take my eyes off of Blaze’s. It’s just… wow. That man is ready for action. I stand here staring at Blaze junior like Pacman getting ready to chomp on some ghosts.
“Like what you see?” Blaze asks as he quirks his eyebrow. “You can touch me if you want. I won’t complain.”
I cough, finally breaking my staring contest with his one-eyed monster. I don’t need a mirror to tell me that my face is as red as a tomato.
“Why are you walking around naked in Craze’s room?” I ask, remembering where we are.
“Is that jealousy I hear, sugar?” He replies, not answering my question. “Why don’t you drop your towel and I’ll make you forget about her, and everyone else for that matter.”
Aaaaaand there’s his signature sexy, bring you to your knees Blaze wink.
“I... I... I...” I try to reply, but my brain refuses to form words. It’s busy imagining all the naughty things I want to do right now.
“Shh,” he commands. “Get over here.”
Apparently, the moon isn’t the only thing that put me under its spell. I step to Blaze, and he immediately pulls me into his body. I gaze into his eyes, enthralled by the streaks of white swirling through his irises as his pupils expand. My hands slowly slide up his smooth, damp chest, over his shoulders, and around the back of his neck as his hands slide town and firmly grasp my ass. I gasp and tense slightly at the urgency of this hold. He smirks, thoroughly pleased with my response, and then crashes his lips against mine. His soft, supple lips. My desire for him surging with every touch.
The sexual tension increases rapidly as his tongue begs for entry into my mouth. I smile playfully against his lips, refusing to let his tongue in. He lets out a deep growl and bites my lower lip, pulling it out before letting it snap back with his lips close behind. I groan as he squeezes my ass even tighter, pulling me tight against his hard, exposed body. My mouth opens slightly as his swollen member twitches against my body. He takes the opportunity to plunge his tongue between my lips to engage in a furious battle with mine.
I moan again as sparks continue to fly between us—my body aching for his. My hips rotate against him, calling him to me. With a low growl, he lifts me up, wraps my legs around his waist, and slowly walks towards his bed…
SIXTEEN
What the fudge am I doing? How can something feel both so wrong and so right? Is this what I really want? Is this who I want to do this with? Why can’t my body, heart, and mind work together for once?
“Hey Blaze, wanna get our freak on? Laze is being a total dick and won’t let me have some with fun with him because he... holy shit!” Craze squeals as she barges into the room just as Blaze reaches his bed with me wrapped tightly around him. “Well, well, well. What do we have here? Mind if I join the party?”
I immediately drop my feet to the ground and push the naked Blaze away from me. He smiles at me before replying to Craze, his eyes locked on mine. “I don’t have a problem with that. Do you, sugar?”
His lip curls up into a smirk. I’m glad there isn’t a mirror in front of me because I don’t want to know what my face looks like right now.
No? Yes? I don’t know. Wow, look who wants to throw their kitty around now. Down, girl.
“Um, actually I’m going to go to bed now,” I reply, finally regaining my composure. I furrow my brow as I notice both Blaze and Craze smiling suggestively. “My bed. Alone.”
“I guess that’s a no.” Blaze chuckles.
I clutch my towel for dear life and quickly make my way out of the room, my feet slapping across the floor. I close the door behind me, pausing in the hall to take a deep breath.
That was close.
“Should I go check on her?” Craze says and I take a step back towards the door out of curiosity.
“Nah, she’s fine,” Blaze replies.
Am I? Am I fine?
I need to get control over my hormones, especially when I’m around people who are more than happy to help me with my problem.
“So, should we have some fun then?” Craze asks.
I continue to listen, curious to hear where this conversation will lead. My chest pangs, as I eagerly await Blaze’s reply. He seems to take forever, and my mind is going crazy.
Am I jealous?
“You know I’m not usually one to turn down an offer like that,” he finally replies, and I lean closer to the door. “But I think I’ll call it a night too.”
My breath catches, and a smile slowly spreads across my face.
Did he just turn down Craze because of me?
“What’s happening in this house?” Craze whines. “You’re all so lame. Guess I’ll go to bed too. Alone.” Her voice is dripping with sarcasm and I almost let a giggle slip out.
Blaze says good night to Craze and I take that as my cue to rush back to my room before I get caught eavesdropping.
“What the hell was that?” I ask aloud as I lock the door behind me. Who knows what would have happened if Craze didn’t walk in when she did?
God, Whoopsie, you really need to get yourself under control.
All that and I didn’t even get any clothes. I wander through the room looking for anything to wear. I go through all the drawers and closets and find a pair of shorts, which I’m guessing either belong to Blaze or Laze and a sports bra which I’m hop
ing does not belong to Blaze or Laze—the thought amuses me a little too much, a sign that I desperately need sleep.
I throw on my ever-so entertaining outfit and hop into the bed. I was right, this bed feels amazing. I’m sound asleep within seconds.
Flashes of memories from tonight play in my head. They combine with recent events in my life to create a chaotic, dramatic, nonsensical movie. My brain struggles to make sense of it all and just as I’m about to figure it all out... my eyes open.
“Ugh, what time is it?” I mutter, reaching for my phone. “I think my bladder is about to explode.” It’s early but late enough that it’s not worth going back to sleep, so I drag myself off the bed and go to the bathroom. After relieving my bladder, I splash my face with cold water. I dig through the drawers and find a toothbrush still in the package that will help rid me of my putrid post-drinking morning breath. I brush my hair with the mini brush in my purse before venturing out of my room to find the kitchen and get some food in my rumbling belly.
I eventually find the kitchen downstairs and am impressed by the breathtaking view grabbing my attention from the many large windows. I’m in awe. The whole house is definitely not what I expected when I met these people.
“Wow, I pictured some rundown party house, full of empty bottles and clothes scattered everywhere,” I mutter with a chuckle as I stand by the patio doors admiring the view of the lake.
“Should I be offended by that comment, sugar?” Blaze replies, startling me.
“Damn it, Blaze! You scared the crap out of me!”
“Funny, I don’t smell anything.” He winks and laughs.
It’s definitely too early for dad jokes… and that wink.
I roll my eyes at his cheesy joke. “Well, aren’t you just hilarious at six in the morning? What are you doing up so early, anyway? And what’s up with the board shorts?” I gesture at his choice of clothing. “Did you sleep in those?”
“Do you always ask so many questions?” He chuckles. “I slept exactly how you left me last night.” He smirks and my cheeks warm. “Just in case you came back to my room to finish what we started. Would you like a reminder of what that looked and felt like?”
Yes! Every cell in my body screams at me to accept the offer.
Take it off. Take it all off! I want to touch... damn it, woman! Think about something else. Anything else. Trees. Yes, plain old, boring trees. Big, long, hard trees.
No! Bad girl! Apples. It’s breakfast and I’m hungry for food. Let’s focus on that. Moist, juicy, delicious apples. Just like his lips. Damn it!
I need some water, stat! Maybe that will quench this thirst.
“No need to reply, sugar.” Blaze's voice pulls me away from my internal struggle. “Your wants and needs are written all over your face. And in your beautiful eyes. I’ll just go ahead and take these off for you.”
He grabs the string of his shorts, pulling it and releasing the knot.
“Wait! What?! No! Stop!” I shout while closing my eyes and holding my hand out in front of me to block the view. The view that deep down I really don’t want to block.
“Welcome back, sugar,” he says as he ties his shorts back up. “I thought I lost you for a second there. Just let me know if you change your mind and I’ll gladly give you a private show. Or a public one. I’m up for either.”
“It’s definitely too early for this,” I grumble. “After all that, you still didn’t tell me why you’re wearing board shorts. I guess you were too distracted by your feeble attempts to seduce me.”
I’m not sure which one of us I’m trying to convince.
Blaze chuckles. “Oh, it wasn’t a feeble attempt. But to answer your question, I like to swim in the morning.” He nods back towards the lake. “The cold water helps wake me up and start the day. You’re more than welcome to join me if you’d like. I promise I’ll keep my hands to myself—unless you need them for something.”
I’m needing a cold dip more and more every second that I’m around this man. There has to be a cure for this hormone thing. I’m acting like a dog in heat, which kind of makes sense based on recent revelations. Hopefully, I don’t start presenting my ass to everyone like a dog—there’s no coming back from that kind of embarrassment.
“Isn’t it too cold to swim?” I look out the sliding door at the brisk scenery.
“It’s chilly, but you get used to it,” he replies and walks towards me. “I don’t stay out there for long. Just long enough to wake up all my senses.”
The more I think about it, the more I’m convinced it’s a good idea. Maybe a dip in the cold lake is exactly what I need to calm this fire growing inside me. That and a huge breakfast.
“Sure, you only live once, right?” I say with a shrug. “On one condition, you make me an amazing breakfast after—I’m talking lots of food. Deal?” I extend my hand to him.
“Yes, your highness,” he says as shakes my hand. “I’ll make you a breakfast fit for a king.”
I nod and smile. “I don’t have a bathing suit though.” I don’t want to swim in these shorts because they’re long and baggy and will hold in the cold—I’m sure I’ll be cold enough as is. “And before you say anything, no, I’m not going skinny dipping.”
“How can you crush a man’s dreams like that?” He pouts. “Do you not have a heart?” He pretends to wipe a tear from his eye and we both laugh. “We have some spare suits in the pool house. Come on, we’ll find you one on the way out.”
This place has a pool house? Who are these people?
“Are going to just stand there talking to yourself all day or join me in the lake?” Blaze shakes his head and walks out the patio doors.
I follow Blaze to the pool house, where he leaves me with a selection of swimsuits. The choices weren’t that great, but I find one that doesn’t look like a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen. I put it on and rejoin Blaze outside.
The walk to the dock is beautiful. Tall trees surrounding us, soft grass still damp with morning dew, and birds chirping away. A light mist covers the lake, dulling the colours behind it while highlighting the first rays of sunlight beaming down from the bright blue sky. We walk quietly to the end of the dock, Blaze staying a few paces behind me, letting me enjoy the walk without interrupting me with his usual flirty quips.
I feel like Snow White, skipping along and chirping with the birds.
I don a cocky grin knowing Blaze is eyeing me from behind and enjoying how this swimsuit accentuates my subtly muscular frame and contrasting curves perfectly. That was the other reason I picked this one to wear.
I sense his gaze as his eyes wander up and down my body, taking in every curve and flex of my muscles as I playfully bounce towards the water. I don’t need to ask what his thoughts are because I know exactly what he is thinking. How long she has known Kace and why he hasn’t taken her as his mate, yet. At least this means I have a chance. His loss. It’s almost uncanny how clearly I imagine those words playing in his mind—even the deep longing tone in his voice is spot on.
I snap out of my reverie as we near the end of the dock. I hesitate for a moment, staring down at the cold water, reconsidering my decision to go for a swim.
I look over my shoulder just in time to see Blaze stalking towards me with a devilish grin plastered on his smug, yet godlike face. Blaze is not true to his word. His hands went on my body... as he lifted me up and threw me into the lake.
“Asshole!” I screech as my body plunges into the cold water.
It’s way colder than I expected. Goosebumps cover my body as soon as a single skin cell touches the surface of the water. Fortunately, my body acclimates to the cold by the time I come back up from my sudden plunge into the icy depths. I find it odd that I was able to adapt that fast. Normally my teeth would chatter to the point I’d expect them to shatter.
I look at the dock, as I gasp for air and spit out what felt like half of the lake. My eyes meet with his just as his body propels from the dock and the words “cannon ball” r
each my ears.
If I wasn’t in the middle of choking on the cold lake water, I would murder this boy and leave his body at the bottom of the lake. I swim towards the dock and grab onto the ladder before turning to face the direction of Blaze’s splash, awaiting his emergence from the water. The only thing colder than the lake is my icy glare.
Suddenly, something grazes my foot. I don’t know about anyone else, but seaweed grosses me right out. I frantically kick my feet as something wraps around my ankle, making contact with a semi-solid mass under the water. A large hand wraps around my waist, followed by a massive, bulky arm.
I wait patiently for a face to appear above water. As soon as the face appears, I put both hands on his shoulders and use all my weight to force him back under the water.
That’ll teach him for messing with me.
Or so I thought.
He takes this opportunity as an excuse to pull me closer to him and away from the ladder before coming back up to the surface. He lifts me out of the water as he rises. The strength of this man is unbelievable. Unnatural.
He shakes the water off his face and looks into my eyes, igniting a fire in my core once again. His eyes are lighter than before, drawing my attention to them like a moth to a flame.
My mind is telling me to stop this now, but my body is begging me to stay. I bite my lip, wondering which one will win—body or mind. He lets out a growl as he pushes us towards the dock, pinning my body between his and the ladder. My heart beats rapidly in my chest as his pounds against me.
He reaches up and tucks a wet strand of hair behind my ear, and I lean into his hand, closing my eyes and letting a soft moan escape my lips. He takes a deep breath, tightening his grip on my waist and I soften my lips, awaiting his. Instead, my body lifts from the water as he turns us and throws me a few feet away.
What? The? Hell?
Seconds later, I pop back up to the surface with a look on my face letting him know full well he may not be leaving this lake alive.
“You’re a dead man!” I threaten as I splash water violently at his face.
