Chapter 160
The Mighty Gate Keeper! The Strength of the Chosens!
The scene at the core of the battle fortress was a stunning one indeed, as the corpse of the last fiend guard could now be seen on the ground directly before the opened doorway shrouded by golden lights, as the figures of the Chosen where current standing before the doorway with a slightly worked up appearance.
“Whew! He was a fairly thought brute…” Xia Rou said as she wiped her sweat, Miren Fei also nodded in reply.
Zang Xu seemed to pay no heed to her words as he spoke, “Now that we’ve finished this one, we should enter the gate now and accept its trail before those fiends noticed what happened here…”
Dai Lin and the others who heard this also had a similar thought, but Xia Rou once again spoke, “Don’t worry before we even started fighting, I cast a special spell on this sector all of our previous actions will remain hidden for a period of time…”
“Oh…” Zang Xu said while revealing an expression of rare surprise, the others also looked at Xia Rou with a different look.
After taking a moment to recover themselves, the geniuses then positioned themselves to the different sections of the massive doorway before placing the golden keys inside of certain slots, as this happened, the bright lights that shrouded the door quickly expanded outwards at a rapid rate.
Soon, the light had expanded to regions of 1000 meters which was only a bit away from the edge of Xia Rou’s shrouding spell. The bodies of the Chosen now vanished from this space as they were shifted to a different one altogether…

In a space mostly filled with pure white, was a gigantic entity that stood in front of a massive door that looked similar to the one previously entered. It was a creature with gray skin and three eyes with four muscular arms; it hoisted a humongous battle mace with two of those arms as it stood in a confined posture as if there were no beings that could be its match.
Swooosh! A cool wind blew within the space followed by a rising mist, as this mist faded, a few forms could be seen walking towards this creature with calm strides.
Suddenly, the creature opened its tree eyes which now glowed in a profound light; it stared at them as if it was a predator who just found its destined prey. A mocking smile formed on his face as he spoke in a voice that shook the region, “Oh, so we have a new set of challengers? How long has it been since I’ve last seen such a scene?”
As he said this, he snapped his fingers. Instantly, a group of rock body golems rose up from the ground surrounding the young geniuses.
Dai Lin seeing this only smiled as his eyes flickered with electric lights, he glanced at somewhat nervous Miren Fei and spoke, “Miren, this will be pretty tough your strength wasn’t your strong point so I suggest that you stick to center and provide support to whomever you can…”
As Miren Fie heard his words she nodded her head and replied, “Um. I was planning to do that, but even if I were to face them head-on…” As she said this, she moved her finger towards her forehead gently rubbing the marking of a serpent-like creature as she continued her words with a look of confidence in her eyes, “I won’t be held down…”
Dai Lin felt surprised as he heard her words, he couldn’t help but recall the few days he spent training both her and Lang Kuang, as he thought to himself, he shook his head from side to side while thinking, “It seems I misjudged her character, but I guess it is natural. We haven’t had the time to truly get to know each other’s traits…”
As Dai Lin ruminated over his thoughts, the scene before him was finally beginning to set into motion.
“I am the Gate Keeper of the Dragon Palace, and only those who are worthy may enter. If you wish to end this war and allow entry into the palace’s domain, then you must first past my tests! Come! Show me your strength!” The Gate Keeper said in a confident manner as he used one of his palms to beckon them into battle, the geniuses seeing this became serious as their eyes emanated the intent for war.
“Let’s go!” Zang Xu shouted as his body began to glow in a brilliant silver light, his figure beamed into the Gate Keeper as his spear swept forward transforming into an invincible spear of light as if there was no entity his spear couldn’t pierce.
Piiiiiiii! The sharp overwhelming spear energy rumbled through the air, pushing away the forces of the surrounding space with its indomitable will. In mere moments this beam of light arrived directly in front of the Gate Keeper who glanced it with a surprised expression.
“Astounding, such a deep compression of the Way of Spear… his principle is similar to the “Will of Dominance,’ I wonder, what did he comprehend?” As the guardian said this, he moved one of his arms placing his palm directly before the spear light, the spear beam then collided with his palm, but the expected explosion did not follow as it was deflected towards a different location, eventually crashing into earth.
BOOOM! The ground ruptured as the earth sent many bits of unusual white rocks into the air, the beam of Zang Xu’s attack seeming to have no end as it continued to burrow through the earth for an untold amount of time…
Swoosh! The figure of Zang Xu had now appeared to the right side of the Gate Keeper his eyes serious as he knew that his opponent was vastly more powerful than he expected, the Gate Keeper who had previously only moved one of its arms to deflect Zang Xu’s attack, glanced towards the small human to his right with a smile on his face.
As Zang Xu saw this, he didn’t even have the time to attack as he felt a chill rising within him, “Not good!” He yelled in his thoughts, as he jumped backwards while twirling his spear before him in a defensive posture.
Swish! Swish! Swish! Instantly, a series of whirling sounds followed as the massive mace inside of the Gate Keeper’s right arms swung towards Zang Xu in blur like fashion, it was a speed that was unthinkable for being of that stature as each of this blur like swings conjured up a wind force that not only disrupted his retreat but also rendered to directly face his overpowering mace attacks.
Bang! Bang! Ping! Ping! Ping!
The sound of both the mace and spear colliding with each other soon after echoed across the region as both the mace being swung by the Gate Keeper along with Zang Xu’s entire body were now made into mere flashes of lights that flickered about constantly.
“Chet! This isn’t good, if I don’t get out of his reach, I will not be able to use my War Saint Prestige…” Zang Xu said in a solemn tone, as beads of sweat trickled down his forehead while he swings and twirled his spear for his life.
“Hahaha! You are an astounding human, but this is where your story ends…” The Gate Keeper said in a cool manner as he forceful pull back the mace he was using causing his muscles to bulge by double before he swung forwards with full force once again, the force of its swing causing the air the scream as it instantly arrived before Zang Xu’s body.
However, before this mace could collide with him, there was a sudden change.
“Ah ah, that’s not good, how can forget us?” A calm and somewhat mischievous voice said, following it was a golden beam which swiftly wrapped around the mace that was about to crush Zang Xu, this golden beam soon after halted as it stretched towards a distant location before forming into a set chain.
Cling! The mace immediately halted as it was now constrained by the world’s most terrifying chains, as the face of the Gate Keeper had now become filled shock. He opened his mouth as exclaimed, “My Heaven Tier Bracer Mace sealed? What kind of---”
He was still in a state of shock, but his words were interrupted as another changed occurred.
Whoosh! The sound of a something that akin to ceramic echoed across the region as the large fist of a semi-transparent war god appeared, it smashed into the head of the distracted Gate Keeper blasting him into the air where he spat out a bit of blood. This semi-transparent giant then stopped its assault as it fell
onto the ground and repositioned its self for battle, pulling a massive halberd from its back and swirling before grasping it firmly at its side.
If one looked loosely, they would notice that the inside of this giant was the figure of Nei Dongyuan whose body now gave off a towering aura much like that of his ceramic giant. He glanced towards the airborne Gate Keeper before looking at the slightly injured Zang Xu who now stood to his feet with a hint of blood flowing down his cheeks.
“Hmph! Rushing in by yourself I thought you were more level headed than that… Spear Child!” Nei Dongyuan said in a mocking manner as if forgetting his previous foolish act, Zang Xu hearing this shook his head as he replied with sharp-looking eyes, “Only a moment of negligence, I was thinking to probe its strength…”
“Ha! Like I’ll believe that…” Nei Dongyuan replied snappily but his eyes remain serious as even though he acted as such he knew full well of Zang Xu’s capabilities. Suddenly, the golden chains that were extended around the mace of the Gate Keeper burst into the particles of light which quickly receded back to their source.
The sound of light footsteps soon after sounding as the figure of Dai Lin appeared not too far behind both Zang Xu and Nei Dongyuan, a strange set of golden chains now wrapped around his right arm.
“Heh! If you two fight him alone, then how will any of us get the chance to have some fun?” Dai Lin said in a mischievous fashion, his eyes now showing a trace of his usual self.
“Those chains…” Both Zang Xu and Nei Dongyuan thought the same thing as their eyes inadvertently sept across the chains on Dai Lin’s hands, but before they could ponder it properly, there was a change.
Bang! The grounds shook as the Gate Keeper had risen to his feet, he grasped the mace in his hand and looked at the depressions formed at the regions where Dai Lin’s chains had wrapped a strange look in his eyes as he glanced at Dai Lin who stood behind Zang Xu and Nei Dongyuan.
“Haha! You brats are something else… good, it looks like this test will be the most exciting of all those I’ve experienced…” As he said this, his body grew at a fast pace become almost double his earlier size. He then gripped his fists tightly as powerful aura erupted from his being.
Boom! His battle power had now risen to a new peak causing the air around him to became unstable as it oppressed all of the geniuses within the area. As he reached his peak form, he glanced towards now fully gathered young geniuses and beckoned them with his hands. “Come!”
Zang Xu, Dai Lin, and Nei Dongyuan glanced at each other before nodding their heads,
Swish! Swish! Swish! Like beams of light, they rushed towards the Gate Keeper in full strides, the marking on Zang Xu’s forehead began to glow as tree large full moons appeared, his eyes become as cold as the moon as his aura became to emanate a frigid atmosphere…
Dai Lin entire body soon after began to glow in divine electrical light as if he was Emperor of Thunder, his eyes sparked with a thunderous light. If one looked on his forehead, they would see three different markings of lighting as if they signified the epitome of all thunders. His body transformed into a streak of golden purple electricity which streaked across the field instantly arriving before the Gate Keeper.
As he reached his target, he then lifted his hand and yelled, “Heavenly Shocking Circuit Scripture: Electro Sealing Chains!” As if they could hear his words, the chains around his arms unfurled themselves at blinding speeds as they rushed towards the Gate Keeper surrounded by a terrifying number of electrical auras which blasted forth from Dai Lin’s palm.
Crackle! The Gate Keeper seeing this smiled as he spoke, “Good! But, I will not fall for your tricks again! Heaven’s Pulse!”
As he said this, the space shook as he waved both of his battle maces smashing them together before him, as this happened, the space before Dai Lin began to beat as if it had a life of its own, the chains were repelled as they scattered towards the ground while the electrical auras where dispersed due to the shockwave.
As the Gate Keeper saw this opening, his eyes shone in a bright light as he struck one of his mace forwards like a spear towards airborne Dai Lin, “Human! Meet your end!”
Whoosh! His mace pierced the void like a spear as if nothing to could prevent its force, Dai Lin seeing this however did not panic instead he smiled while looking into the eyes of the enemy before twirling his body to the right and vanishing like a streak of purple golden lighting.
Pheww! Instantly, a beam of frosty silver spear light shot forwards with absolute power. It was as if this beam was peak of all beams as it gave one the feeling that no beam is worthy to be before it, the figure of Zang Xu could be seen at the center of this beam with his spear in tow, as if distance had no meaning both Zang Xu and the Gate Keeper’s attack collided.
BOOM! A destructive wave soon after followed, as Zang Xu’s spear and the Gate Keeper’s mace continued to struggle for dominance, their collisions sending ripples upon ripples of energies across the area.
However, as this fierce struggle continued, the figure of the ceramic giant had now descended from the air, branching its halberd as Nei Dongyuan voice could be heard.
“Raging Halberd Strikes!”
Immediately following his voice, the ceramic giant began to slash the halberd at the Gate Keeper, as he saw this, he couldn’t help but speak, “Heh! Nice try, but it is not enough to pin me down!”
He used his last remaining arm to parry each of the ceramic giant’s halberd strikes using his palm like an invisible shield that could parry all things.
Boom! Boom! Boom! A series of intense collisions continued to ripple across the battle zone for a while as each of the Gate Keeper’s hands were now full with the task of parrying the assaults from Dai Lin, Zang Xu, and Nei Dongyuan, but as these seen seemed as if it was at a stalemate there was a sudden change…
“Now!” Zang Xu yelled, his eyes glowing in a sharp light as his spear seemed to have doubled in force pushing away the mace that resisting his attack with an indomitable force.
A good distance away from the core of the battlefield where the figures of Xia Rou and Miren Fei they stood a good distance away from each other as their clothing fluttered in chaotic winds that swept across their figures.
The golems around them were now pre-occupied by Ye Wang, Sheng Being, and the others.
Suddenly, Xia Rou raised her arms causing an odd tome to float before herself, it glowed in a magical light before it opened, revealing only a section of its very first page. Instantly, a strange power began to flow within Xia Rou as her eyes shone radiant light and her mouth opened speaking in a tone that seemed to have traveled from ancient times.
“I am that epoch after the end… I am the light that shines after darkness… I am… Chaos Ray!!!”
Phewww! As if the world itself ended abruptly, the space became filled with darkness as a light that seemed to have transcended color ripped across space as it beamed towards the Gate Keeper.
“It’s Ancient Magi’s Magic!! Not good!” The Gate Keeper yelled in surprise, but as all of his hands were occupied, he couldn’t only grit his teeth and increase his auras around his body to try and defend the sudden attack.
Boooom! A new epoch came into the beam, as a blast so devastating occurred, it pushed away Dai Lin, Nei Dongyuan, and Zang Xu leaving behind a colorful but devastating scene.
After a good while, the lights faded as the figure of the Gate Keeper could now be seen, his body broken to pieces as if he could collapse at any moment as even his heavenly mace-like weapons vanished from existence.
“Haa… Haa… I don’t think… I can use another attack… like that for a while…” The pale and exhausted looking Xia Rou said as she fell to her knees, beads of sweat trickling down her cheeks.
Miren Fei who was nearby couldn’t help but smile as she spoke, “You’ve done well, if any unexpected happens just leave the rest to me…” Her tone filled with unusual kind of confidence and dignity, unlike her unusual self. If one looked at her forehead, they wou
ld see something strange an image of a mirror that flickered in a strange light before vanishing and being replaced by a serpent-like marking.
Xia Rou smirked as she heard her words, as she thought to herself, “You’re only a subordinate to that guy although your strong to your own rights I don’t see how you be of any help in this circumstance, still, that spell was too much…”As she then continued to murmur over her spell’s might, the scene before them began to change.
Crack-crack! The body of the Gate Keeper suddenly started to crumble to pieces, in a few moments his outer shell vanished leaving behind a strange entity, it was simple creature, one filled with monotonous tone of white blending in with very space, the only difference was that on various parts of its skin and its eyes were glowing lights no different from stars.
As Zang Xu, Nei Dongyuan, Dai Lin, Xia Rou, and Miren Fei saw this creature they became stunned as a strange feeling of oppression soon came over their entirety. Suddenly, a streak of seven different lights flashed across the space as swept across the neck and limbs of this entity.
This attack sudden and abrupt, as no one even sensed its point of origin, truly an attack worthy of its inherit ruthlessness. Yet, its attempt was futile as the strange creature merely flicked its wrists causing his hand to blur before reappearing with seven different knives, the figure of a pale and terror-stricken youth no standing behind his back with bloody wounds all of his body.
“Your skills of assassination are not bad, but it’s a futile effort against true strength…” After it said this, the Gate Keeper once again smiled in this unusual new form as he opened his eyes causing them to glow in a brilliant light, “Now then, stage 2 will begin… all you children have to do is… survive!”
His energies rising to a whole new peak as a powerful ripple spread across this confined space, its energy becoming so immense that it could now be felt from the outside world…
