Waiting for You Page 11

by Megs Pritchard

He grabbed Deac’s hair, pulling his head up and kissing him, pushing his tongue into Deac’s mouth and tangling their tongues together. He whimpered and moaned, and when Deac pushed a hand between their bodies and pumped his dick, Costas bit Deac’s lip and exploded.

He clenched the dick in his ass, his back bowing, his hands gripping Deac’s hair. He heard Deac’s muffled groan, felt Deac’s body stutter, then warmth filled his ass.

He collapsed on the ground, Deac’s weight comforting as he lay on top of him, and he smoothed his hands over Deac’s damp back, holding him, and murmuring words of love.

  I love you too.

Costas smiled, kissed Deac’s neck. We should camp out more often.

What? The cold hard ground doing it for you? Deac lifted his head and kissed Costas’ lips. Or is it the being quiet part you like?

Costas grinned and waggled his eyebrows. Who knows?

Deac kissed him softly. I love when we fuck, but I like this as well.

“Me too.” Costas sighed and winced when Deac’s soft dick slid from his ass. “We need to clean up and get some sleep. The girls like to get up early.”

“Is this what I have to prepare for? No more lazy days in bed?”

“Lazy days in bed? What’s that? I don’t think I’ve heard of those.”

Deac snorted, and Costas smiled, kissing him. “I have to wait for sleepovers then.”

  “We do.”

Deac slid his lips over Costas’ then stared into his eyes. Costas blinked up at him then touched his cheek. “I love you, Costas. You’ve given me so much.”

“And you gave me a home, a place of safety, and you love Evangeline and Aurora. I love you too.”

  “Always.”

  “Always.”

The door to his office opened without anyone knocking and slammed shut behind Elliot as he strolled across the carpet and slumped in the seat opposite Deac.

Deac arched an eyebrow, but Elliot simply stared at him. “Elliot.”

  “Deacon.”

Swallowing the words he wanted to say, Deac instead asked, “What can I help you with?”

“Signs of incursions in our territory. Military footwear. Several different sizes.”

  Incursions? “We’re not at war.”

“We are. You just refuse to see it that way.”

  “We aren’t being bombed, Elliot.”

“No, but they are taking our kind and inflicting pain and suffering on them. We’re at war, Deacon.”

Deac sighed and looked at the pile of paperwork on his desk. Then he remembered what Euan had said. “Maybe.”

Elliot grunted. “No maybe about it. I’ve been abroad; I’ve seen shit go down. What’s happening here is war. They are attacking us, finding our weak spots and exploiting them for their gain. We’ve got it covered, but I’ve arranged a meeting for all security personnel here and at Salutem. The three stooges will also be there.”

“The three...” Deac shook his head. He wasn’t going to ask. “So, Vir, Ish, and Euan will be in attendance.”

  “Didn’t I just say that?”

“In your own way, yes, you did.”

Elliot scratched his jaw and eyed Deac. “You getting regular sex? You don’t seem so stressed.”

“My sex life is not up for discussion.”

  “You’re lucky fucker, yeah.”

“I am fortunate that he decided to mate me after what he and our girls went through.”

“I like that. Our girls. A shifter’s way.”

Elliot stood and walked toward the door, pausing when he reached it, saying, “Don’t let him go,” before leaving.

Deac stared at the space where Elliot had stood and sighed. He had no idea how painful it must have been for Elliot to lose his mate before they had the chance to live as a mated couple. Most shifters didn’t find their mate until they were older, so he knew Elliot and his mate would have waited.

As for the others Elliot had brought with him, Deac didn’t know anything about them. The background checks came back clean, with the usual information, but it didn’t tell him what he really needed to know.

Would they help or harm Morefield?

When are you coming home? The girls are making sausage pasta.

Sounds nice. Hope it’s better than yesterday’s attempt at cooking.

I’m monitoring, so no burnt offerings tonight.

You were watching last night too.

And I got caught up in work.

I’m just leaving now. I miss you all.

We miss you too. Pick up some beer on your way home. We might just need it.

  Gloppy pasta?

That’s one word you could use. I swear Evangeline is never going to learn how to cook.

Deacon grinned and switched off his computer then pushed all the paper work in a drawer and locked it. How many beers?

As many as you can carry.

Laughing, he locked the door to his office behind him. He loved his mate and his daughters.

Simply put, he loved his life.
