Eevie throws her head back and laughs. “Are you trying to use reverse psychology on me?”
“Don’t get all smart on me, Miss Bookworm,” I tease as I run the soap bar over my body. I rinse off quickly before Eevie gets the chance to distract me more than she already has this morning. I kiss her loudly on the lips. “Good luck on your test, babe.”
“Thanks. I’ll be home around six,” she says as I get out and quickly dry myself.
****
“It’s not good enough, Aidan. You’ll have to fix the wall the young guy damaged putting the counter in. I’ve got painters coming in first thing tomorrow, so it needs to be done today.”
Perfect. And it’s already five o’clock. This client has dicked me around for weeks, and we had to work around all the other trades in a last minute rush. It’s no fucking wonder there was some damage. I just wanna get home, but if I tell him I’ll come back tomorrow, it’s only gonna get us in the shit.
“I’ll sort it now. Don’t stress. I’ll be back with some gear to patch it.”
When I drag myself through the door at seven, Eevie’s lying lengthways on the couch, and watching the news.
“Hey,” she whispers, as I crawl over the cushions, and slump on top of her.
“Hey you,” I say, breathing out, brushing my stubbly cheek in the crook of her neck. I kiss below her ear, and she jerks when I bite her earlobe. That always drives her crazy.
Eevie squirms beneath me, taking my head in her hands.
“Good day?” I ask, hoping she’s not too stressed about how she went on her exam.
“Yeah, it was a good day. Sorry, I haven’t found the energy to cook yet. I’m just wiped.”
“That’s fine, I’ve had a shit of a day. Let’s go out and get somethin’ easy for dinner.”
She sighs loudly and a wide smile stretches across her face. “That’s sounds perfect.”
****
We drive to May’s Thai, a restaurant not far from home. I’ve been here countless times on my own when I couldn’t be bothered cooking for one, but it’s been a while. At least I know I can rely on this place. It’s tried and tested.
“Mr Aidan. How are you?” May, the owner of the restaurant, greets me warmly at the door. I smile down at her. May leans her head right back to look up at me and playfully slaps me on the arm. “My cooking no good for you anymore?”
“No, May. Course not. I still love your cookin’.” Holding Eevie’s hand, I pull her through to the crowded entry. May looks Eevie up and down, narrowing her eyes.
She smiles wickedly and winks at me. “Oh, I see. You got lovely girl now, no room for old May.” She always stirs trouble with me. She can’t help herself, but she’s funny as shit.
I chuckle. “May, this is Eevie.”
“Hi, May,” Eevie says, and grins. Eevie offers her hand, and May takes it with both of hers and shakes.
“Eevie, this boy is one of my favourites. You very lucky.”
“Yes, May, I am,” Eevie says, and smiles at me.
“Good girl.” May nods, and takes two menus from the counter. “Let’s get you a nice table, yes?”
We follow May as she weaves through the crowded restaurant, and seats us in the far back corner. Eevie’s happy for me to order, so I pick some of my favourite dishes, which I know she’ll like, and a couple of beers. After the day we’ve had, we both need one.
May rushes off to the kitchen with our order.
“The exam go okay?” I ask.
“Yeah. I think I covered everything well,” Eevie says.
“That’s good. I thought you might’ve been worried about it.”
“Nah. Not worth worrying about it after it’s done.”
True. I like her attitude.
“I wonder if you had something to do with how I coped today.” Eevie presses her lips together.
“What do you mean?” I ask.
“Our little start to the day got me in a pretty positive mood.”
“Yeah? I was right that my day would turn to shit after that, but fuck me if that wasn’t an impressive start.”
Eevie laughs softly and takes my hand from across the table. She runs her fingers over the callouses on my palm. “I’m sorry you had a bad day. Wanna talk about it?”
If I did, she’d be the only one I’d wanna talk to. “Nah, I’m over work for today.”
May delivers spring rolls and Thai fish cakes to our table with a cheeky smile, and we start eating.
“You haven’t seen any mail come for me this week, have you?” Eevie asks.
“No, why?”
“I had my bills re-directed a while ago. I just thought I should’ve at least got a phone bill by now.”
“I wouldn’t worry. I’m sure you’ll get a reminder.”
“Yeah. You’re right.”
“So, one of the guys on site today was bragging about catchin’ some good fish last weekend up in the Snowies,” I mumble with half a spring roll in my mouth. “Might have to take a trip up there.”
“Where?” she asks, frowning.
“The Snowy Mountains.”
“Oh,” she says.
“Have you ever been camping in the Snowies?”
“I’ve never been camping, full stop.”
My jaw drops. “What? Never?” I can’t believe it. Every kid needs to experience camping.
“Nope. Like I said before, Dad was never around. I spent some time on my uncle’s farm, but I’ve never been on a camping trip.”
“What about fishing? Surely you’ve been fishing.”
“I went a few times with my Uncle Steve, but I never caught anything. He wasn’t that good a fisherman.”
“Well, that’s settled then. I’m takin’ you camping.”
Eevie’s eyes light up. “Really? When can you fit it in?”
“How ‘bout this weekend? I’m not racing until the weekend after, and we can just cruise up and stay Saturday night. I promise you, you’ll love it. And besides, I think we both need a bit of a break.”
She grins like she can’t believe her luck. “I can’t wait.”
Our mains arrive, and after a few minutes of silence while we eat, I tell Eevie about some of the places I’ve been camping, and the crazy shit us boys got up to. Her eyes widen, giving me her undivided attention, as if I’m telling her about a whole other world of experiences. I can’t believe she’s never had a taste.
Goddamn it, I’m taking my girl camping.
CHAPTER THREE
* AIDAN *
With the occasional crack of the fire, sparks swirl into the air in a dizzy smoke. We sit back in our camping chairs, sipping on red wine. The heat of the fire is sometimes so intense that my jeans feel like they might melt into my skin. Under the stars shining down on us, the cool breeze sends the occasional chill over my skin as water gently laps at the bank. God I love this.
I look across to Eevie, who is completely hypnotised by the fire. “So if we’re gonna catch anything, it’s probably gonna be in the middle of the night. The fish always bite when it’s cold, and we always catch somethin’ from this spot,” I say, drawing Eevie from her trance.
“So which fishing rod is mine?” she asks, raising an eyebrow.
I look to the rods leaning against my ute. “I dunno, the black one I guess. Why?”
“Maybe we can have a little wager,” she says sweetly. A couple of glasses of red, and she’s feeling brave.
I eye her suspiciously. “I’m listening.”
“Whoever catches the first fish reaps the rewards.”
And I know exactly the kinda rewards she means. She doesn’t have a chance. “You know I’m a seasoned fisherman, right?”
“So what?” she says confidently. “You never know. The universe might want to reward me with my first fish.”
“Oh, I’m gonna reap the rewards alright.” I look down at her mouth and those soft lips, imagining exactly where they’re gonna be. Fuck, I’m hard thinking about it.
She gives me a smug smile. “We
ll see.”
Not that I care if she catches one, but a man has his pride, and this is one bet I’ve gotta win.
At a crack of a twig in the distance, Eevie practically jumps out of her skin. It’s probably a fox or a kangaroo. She seems nervous, but I guess it’s her first time camping. At least I had my grandpa to teach me stuff, because my dad didn’t wanna stick around. Her father must be some self-absorbed prick not to have taken Eevie and her brothers. I don’t know whether I’d be able to hold my tongue if I ever meet him. He cheated on his wife when she’d been through hell. He’s got four kids who, since the separation, he’s had nothing to do with. Eevie swore she’d never speak to him again, so he’s saved from the few choice words I’d be prepared to give him.
“I hate to gloat, but I’ve given you another first. I’ve officially popped your camping cherry.” As well as Eevie losing her virginity to me, she’d told me not that long ago that I was responsible for her first wet dream. As if that’s going to escape my nasty thoughts anytime soon.
“Aidan!” she says, and rolls her eyes. Her focus returns to the fire. “I can’t believe my brothers and I never got to experience this. Dad was never around. When I have kids, I’m gonna do stuff with them. Go on holidays, whatever, more than I ever got to.”
“What do you mean when you have kids?”
She shrugs. “Exactly that.”
“Are you plannin’ on goin’ somewhere?”
“No.” She frowns.
“Then don’t you mean when we have kids?”
Her mouth forms an O, as if she finally gets what I was trying to say. “Of course I mean we,” she says. “I’ve just spent the last couple of years playing mother and father. I promise you, I’m not going anywhere.”
“Good.” I walk over and grab the fishing rods. Sitting down, I set about baiting the hooks.
“Okay, I’ll try it again, Aidan. Promise me, that one day, when we have kids, we’ll take them places. Be a family.”
“I promise.” And I mean it. When it happens, I’m gonna give our kids everything. I’m gonna be the father they deserve. I’ll be a father that’s present, full stop.
She smiles, and breathes slowly out through her nose.
“So, how many?” I ask, curiosity getting the better of me.
“What?”
“How many kids?”
“Oh, I dunno.” She shrugs. “Four is too many, but I couldn’t have just one.”
“I want at least two. I hated being an only child.”
“Okay … at least two. I can work with that, but, uh, not for a while. I’m enjoying my freedom, and I’m kinda into someone tall, dark and handsome.”
“Well, hopefully he doesn’t find out about us.” I wink at her. “Come on, let’s throw these lines in and get the swag sorted.”
We walk down to the bank, and after a few failed attempts, Eevie casts her bait in the perfect spot. I cast mine, and secure each rod in a rod holder.
Eevie nuzzles into my side, as we stroll back towards the fire. We shouldn’t have any trouble keeping warm snuggled close together, but like a caveman, I love a good fire. I unroll the swag, and open it up.
Eevie sits on the edge of the canvas, and takes off her gumboots. Gumboots, might I add, she didn’t own until yesterday. This girl’s gotta get out more. Get a bit more country.
She takes her jeans off, but gets in the swag with her underwear and jumper on. She purses her lips as if she knows exactly what she’s done wrong, and tries to disguise herself in the sleeping bag.
“Wrong,” I say stripping bare in front of her. Her eyes light up when she scans up and down my body.
She pouts her full bottom lip. “You need to undress me. It’s much more fun when you do it.”
“Okay, but don’t say I never do anything for you.” I take her hands and pull her to her feet, and peel her jumper and singlet top over her head.
“I’d never say that. You do all kinds of things for me,” she says, and grins.
Unable to resist, I tug her bra cup down and suck her tight nipple, grazing it with my teeth.
“Aren’t you worried someone will see us?” She juts her chin towards a light on the peak of the hill. It’s probably just a desperate fisherman.
“It’s just us, and the stars, baby girl. Don’t go all shy on me now. The light up there is probably a kilometre away. They’re not gonna see a thing. Don’t stress.”
“I just feel so out in the open.”
We both look in the direction of the light, and it disappears from sight.
“See? Gone.”
Her shoulders relax and I unhook her bra, and devour her other nipple. I take my sweet time, swirling my tongue around, enjoying every mumble coming from her mouth. The cool breeze blows at my back, the hairs all over my body protesting. I shuffle her backwards and we climb into the swag.
Eevie squirms beside me, rubbing her panties on my hip. She weaves her hands through my hair, and brings my mouth to hers. Her sweet tongue, laced with the remnants of red wine, teases my own before she playfully bites my bottom lip. Fuck, what this woman does to me … I’ve seriously gotta win this bet. That mouth, that tongue … sweet Jesus.
I slip my fingers under the lace between her legs to find her wet. As always. I swirl my finger over her button, every so often dipping inside her heat. Her breathing becomes ragged, and she moans that bit louder. I like it. I like it a lot. But I wanna make her scream.
“No. Not yet,” she pants. “I want to come with you.” Damn, girl. She wriggles her panties down, untangling them from her ankles. Lying on her side, she cups my tightened balls in her warm hand before stroking and grabbing my hard cock.
I shiver as our chests expand against each other. “Get on top,” I say.
She leans up on her elbow and continues to tease me, squeezing my shaft.
A noise close by has her head snapping around. “What was that?” she whispers loudly.
A chuckle bursts from my mouth. She really needs to relax. “Probably a kangaroo comin’ for water. He can watch for all I care, because I’m fuckin’ you under the stars, baby girl.”
“Fair enough,” she says, shaking her head.
“Come on, Eevie. Go wild. I wanna see you wild.”
As if I’d issued her a challenge, she throws the cover off us and straddles me. Luckily, we’re close enough to the fire to warm our naked bodies. I take hold of her hips as she positions herself. I slide in deep, her heat inside surrounding my cock, almost bringing me to peak.
She leans over me, her long hair tickling at my face as I move my hips up to fill her. I slide my hands up her stomach to sit her completely upright.
In the firelight, I’m completely captivated by the way she moves her hips up and down, her fuckable tits bouncing with each thrust. She should get up there more often. She has no idea how good she looks, how good this feels. Actually, she definitely knows how good this feels by the way she’s moaning.
I squeeze her breasts in my hands, rolling her nipples between my fingers. I lean her back that bit further towards my knees. Just this subtle change has her moaning that much louder, and for me it feels fucking amazing. She rests one hand on my knee; the other she slips between my legs, and cups and strokes my balls. Oh, yeah. About time they got some attention.
“Ohmygod …” she murmurs, looking up to the stars.
“Look at me,” I say. When her eyes meet mine, I slide my thumb around in circles over her clit. She jerks at the touch, moving her hips faster, her chest heaving as she gasps for air. She doesn’t take her eyes off me, and I can’t take mine from her.
“Aidan,” she chokes out. My name has never sounded so good, bringing me that much closer to blowing my load.
“I wanna hear you make some noise.” I splay my hand between her breasts, leaning her back further, continuing to massage her. Her breath becomes a white cloud spilling from her mouth as she screams out my name. Her orgasm creates a strong rhythmic pulse around me. Before she weakens and slo
ws down, I sit up, and squeeze tight around her waist, moving her hips up and down. Her mouth claims mine, as I spill into her deep, a whimper escaping her lips.
Fuck. Me. Dead.
Eevie wraps her arms around my shoulders, pushing her tits up towards my face. I lean my head back to meet her eyes. A slow I‘ve-just-been-thoroughly-fucked smile creeps over her lips.
“Loud enough for you?” she says, running her fingers through my hair.
“Loud and clear. Fuck, you’re shakin’. Are you cold?”
She simply laughs. “No. My legs are like jelly from all the work I had to do. I feel like I’ve just run a marathon.”
I laugh out loud. “I think we need to go camping more often.”
Eevie kisses me on the tip of my nose. “Mmm, I agree.”
I stoke up the fire one last time, and we both slip on shirts. No underwear. I don’t want any on in case I wake up with a boner. Which is pretty much guaranteed. We’re both addicted to that sleepy shag in the morning, when you’re not quite sleeping, but not yet wide-awake. Almost like making your own sexy dream. Certainly makes waking up a helluva lot more enticing. I’m pretty sure that waking up with my girl this close, I won’t be able to resist.
Snuggled deep in the swag, Eevie holds me tight.
“I love you, Aidan. Thank you for this.”
“Love you too, baby girl,” I say, and kiss her softly on the lips. “Do you think anyone else is as happy as us?”
“I dunno. It’d be pretty hard to beat what we’ve got.”
“Yeah, I agree.”
The chilly breeze fades, and after a while, the fire dies down. Eevie’s breathing slows, but I can’t sleep.
I toss and turn for a while, which means I keep Eevie awake. It’s such a tight fit when the swag is zipped up.
I should tell her about the phone call. I wanna tell her, but I don’t wanna spoil the mood, not when I’m still high in the fucking sky after crazy camping-sex. If I get it off my chest, maybe I might get to sleep.
“Can’t you sleep?” she whispers.
“Nah. Just thinkin’ ‘bout stuff.”
She slips her hand around my waist. “Like what?”
