Something Just Ain't Right Part 2 Page 14

While they were talking, I slowly eased my chair over to the object and tried to get it when Caroline stomped her foot down on it.

“You think you’re slick, don’t you?”

“Leave her alone!” Morgan yelled. He pointed his gun at Caroline with a hurt look on his face.

“I really thought you were different. How could you do this to your husband? To me?”

“Oh stop, Morgan. It’s always been ‘poor me Morgan.’ What about what you did? You should be punished for it, and I really hope you do.”

“Why were you with my uncle? Was it for the hefty policy my dad left him? Were you trying to get rid of him so you could have it? Maybe split it with him over there?” He said while pointing his gun at Will.

“He is my nephew, so yes.”

Morgan shook his head as he went over to me. He untied me while staring at everyone. Before he could grab me, Travis grabbed me instead, holding his gun to my forehead.

“Take one more step and I swear I will blow her brains out.”

Morgan stared at me as I gave him a fearful look. This entire day had to be a damn nightmare. I knew eventually I would wake up and be lying in bed beside him. I only saw this type of shit on TV shows and movies. I never thought I would be experiencing it.

“In fact, put your gun down and kick it over here, that way I know you can’t do anything.”

Morgan did as he was told which made Travis smile.

  “Good boy.”

Before Travis could say another word, Rick, Lamar and Kyle ran in. I saw Tamara near the door. She looked scared as she saw me being held by Travis.

  “Let her go!” Lamar yelled.

“Not a chance. In fact, we’re going to go for a little ride. Anyone tries to come after us, and I will kill her.”

He waved his gun at everyone as he dragged me along with him to the door. Morgan ran after us, pushing me aside and going after Travis. The two started to fight for the gun as Lamar and Rick went over to Will and Caroline. Kyle and Tamara came over to me and helped me off the ground.

I watched as Morgan and Travis were still fighting. Someone needed to get Morgan away from Travis before another incident occurred.

  “Kyle, please do something.”

He nodded and tried to go to them, but he stopped. I didn’t realize what was happening until I heard Tamara screamed. I looked down and saw blood going through my shirt. I looked at Morgan, not knowing what to do.

  “Hayley!” He yelled.

Kyle ran over to keep Travis from fleeing as Morgan ran over to me. I was losing my breath as he held onto me.

  “Hayley, baby!”

I looked into his blue eyes, noticing how clear they looked, as if I was looking at the sky on a sunny day. That’s how I would want every day to be. Enjoying a sunny day with him by my side.

“Baby, look at me! Someone call 911!” He yelled.

That was the last thing I had heard before I fell into his arms.

  Morgan

After what happened to Hayley, everything else became a complete blur. I didn’t realize what was going on until I saw Dallas police, and two paramedics rush into the room. I quickly looked around, seeing Will, Caroline, and Travis being taken away by the police as one of the paramedics asked for me to step aside. I didn’t want to leave Hayley’s side, but Lamar and Kyle pulled me away, reassuring me that the paramedics would do what they could to save her. At that moment, I wanted to go after Travis and murder him. When we were struggling for the gun, I didn’t realize he had it and pulled the trigger. If I was thinking at that moment, I could have prevented that from happening.

I was trying to break from their grasp when Uncle Rick came over to me.

“Morgan, look at me. Hayley will be okay. From what I know of her, she’s tough, so she’ll get through this.”

“It’s my fault. If I would had noticed what he was doing…”

“Nephew, you couldn’t control him or anyone else. Just know that they will be locked away so they’ll get what they deserve.”

I watched as Hayley was placed on the stretcher and wheeled out of the room. I went behind them. I had to go with them to the hospital.

“I’ll call my parents and let them know what happened,” Lamar said. He was on the verge of tears as he watched his sister being carried out. I knew this was bringing back painful memories for him with Samantha. All because of me and my screwed up family.

I nodded and ran out of the door. I asked the paramedics if it was okay for me to go with them. They nodded as I stepped into the ambulance. I slowly took Hayley’s hand, praying that she would be okay. I knew she was a fighter, so she should pull through this.

The ride to the hospital was awkward as I was impatiently waiting for them to get there. Every minute was critical, so she needed to get there as soon as possible.

As we finally stopped, they opened the doors and immediately took her in. I stood back as I watched her do through the emergency doors. The tears I tried to hold in before were quickly falling as I went over to the entrance. I slid down on the ground, feeling truly defeated over what happened. I let her down. I told her I would protect her and I didn’t. Now, due to my foolish mistake, she was fighting for her life.

I knew what I had to do. It might not be the best decision at the moment, but it needed to be done. I tried to have a normal relationship, and I failed. I’m nothing but toxic to her. If I stayed, it would only make things worse.

I got up and was walking to the bus stop when I heard Lamar’s voice.

  “Where are you going?”

“I need to leave. I can’t be here.”

“What? What are you talking about?”

“I failed her Lamar! I told her I would protect her. Now, she could die because of me.”

“Morgan, this is not your fault, so don’t blame yourself for this. You know Hales; she wouldn’t blame you either.”

“I tried to protect her. I didn’t want her involved in this.”

Lamar pulled me into his arms. In my 22 years, I have only cried twice, when my father passed and when I broke my arm when I was 10. But this time, it didn’t matter if I was, or even if anyone saw me do it. Hayley is my world, so if anything happened to her, I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself.

She had to pull through this. Not just for me, but also for her family. They don’t need any more bad news.

For the past few weeks, things have been a roller coaster, all due in part to me. If she does pull through this, I’ll do what I can to keep her safe and protected. I won’t screw up like I did before.

But if she doesn’t, I will do everything in my power to seek revenge on everyone that had crossed me. Rest assured that they will get what’s coming to them.

  And that’s a promise…
