Fighting for Keeps Page 18

by Grace Brennan

After a terrible accident, Alex Kincaid has no memory of who he is or why he was looking for the Rocky River fighters. But when he meets Cammie, he’s certain she’s the one he’s been searching for. As pieces of his memory return, he’s left with more questions than answers, and though he’s falling for her hard, he knows he isn’t truly free to be with her until he figures out who and what he really is.

With danger approaching, Alex must recover his memory to save the woman he loves, or risk leaving her to fend for herself against an enemy who’s been hunting her for years.

December was a very rough month for me. My dog Snickers, the light of my life and my constant companion for the last 16 years, passed away. It was an extremely rough time for me. I shouldn’t have been writing at all, but it helped me, so there I was, typing away.

I won’t name them all because they know who they are, but my whole tribe had my back 100%, lifting me up and trying to take my mind off things. #MyAuthorBestie, Samantha McCoy, was front and center. And one night, when I was trying to write and feeling a little lost and lonely, we were in chat, going back and forth about silly stuff. Another of our tribe, Lauren Lo Matthews, joined in, and it got even crazier. There we were, at almost 2 a.m., goofing off about beef curtains and voice activated dongs. Yes, our chats are varied, hahaha. That night in chat helped me more than I ever let on, so I wrote those two things into Fighting for Keeps. So when you think beef curtains and voice activated dongs, think me, Samantha, and Lo, in a late night, slap happy chat fest. And be very grateful you’re not in our crazy, insane, anything goes chat lol! Trust me, sometimes it’s a scary place to be.

And also, I need to give a shout to Theresa Birmingham (otherwise known by her pen name T Birmingham). I’ve decided that for the next few books, I’m stealing my friend’s last names for my characters. T was up first. Thanks for Seth’s last name, T!
