Falling Into Blue Page 16

by Maurer, Donalyn

“Jaycee, I’m clean and I know you are and I want to feel you, but birth control, I didn’t bring anything,” he says. I push him on his back and straddle him. I’ve never done this before either. I’m going completely on instinct and what feels right. “I’m good for three months. Had it done when I was in the hospital, you know, since…” I pause, “so we should be good, please?” I need this. I need his beautiful to replace the ugly. I lift up enough to center him at my opening when he grabs my hips and says, “Are you sure?” but he looks pained. “It’ll suck to stop, but if you’re not sure, we stop. Anytime, we stop. Do you understand, Jayc?“ he whispers and I lean down and kiss him. “Max, I need you. I want you. Please,” and I kiss him. “Jayc…” but he can’t wait either and pushes my hips down on him as he lifts his hips up and enters me inch by inch, in and out until he’s in all the way.

I sit back up and start to move as his hands on my hips guide me up and down. He reaches down with one hand while the other is still on my hip and starts rubbing his finger in circles again and it feels like I’m right on the edge. I drop my head back and pick up speed and so do his fingers and then I explode. I can feel him pushing me up and down helping me to ride out the feeling and when I’ve come down, he flips me onto my back and starts thrusting in and out while he bring his mouth back to mine and starts kissing me. I wrap him up in my arms and legs and let my fingers gently scratch him down the back. “God, Jayc, that feels good, you feel so damn good.” His kissing and thrusting becomes stronger and faster until he finally groans into my mouth and stills, but then bucks a couple more times and lays his face into my neck and softly kisses my shoulder. When both of our breathing calms he turns his head to me and we start kissing again and finally he pulls out and goes to the back room and grabs a towel to clean us both up with and takes the towel back to drop in the hamper. We don’t speak until he comes back to bed and we turn to each other.

Face to face in each other’s arms, I look at him and his beauty and what he just gave me and I just do it. “I love you, Max,” I say. Instead of responding, he releases a heavy sigh and closes his eyes. Oh my God, too soon. He’s not there and I just made a huge mistake, I think, but when he opens his eyes I see I didn’t. They’re soft but intense and he brings his mouth to mine and says against my lips, “Thank God, Jaycee. Thank God. I love you too,” and we both smile against each other’s lips. “For forever and a day. Because forever will never be long enough,” he whispers.

After everything, can I be finding my way back? Please, my Father in Heaven, bring me back is my prayer as I drift off to sleep, wrapped up together with Max.

  Chapter 25

I lift my head off of smooth warm skin—Max’s chest. I open my eyes and see the morning sun shining through the windows and I remember last night. After thinking I’d lost him, only to admit to one another that we are in love. I smile at the memory and lay my head back down, trying to ignore all the problems that await me for as long as I can. He’s asleep, so I relax back into him. I want to stay right where I am all day but then I feel him reach his arm up and he wraps it around me and pulls me on top of him. I look down at him and his eyes are hooded and his face sleepy as his eyes travel over my face and hair. “Hey Jayc,” he lifts his head up to give me a soft morning kiss. When he lays his head back down against the pillow I look at him. “Good morning,” I say, and I lay my head back down on his chest where I can feel and hear his strong steady heartbeat and it begins to lull me back to sleep. But both our bodies seem to react at the same time to the feeling of skin against skin.

I can feel him getting hard against my stomach and I kiss his chest and start moving against him as he lazily strokes my back with one hand while he brings the other to run his fingers through my hair. Then he tightens his grip and flips us and I’m now on my back. He brings his mouth down to mine and when he licks at the entrance of my lips, I open and let him in. With the grip on my hair, he turns my head and deepens the kiss. I feel him growing even harder as I feel myself getting wet and ready for him. I reach up and wrap my hands around his back and start bringing them up to his neck and then into his hair. His hair’s not long enough to pull but I scrape my nails along his neck and scalp. I know he likes my nails because when I do that he kicks my legs apart with his knee and then settles his hips in between mine. Without help or any hesitation, he enters me in one long thrust. We both stop kissing in order to moan at the way it feels as I throw my head back into the pillow and let out a deep sigh as he drops his head to my neck. Our connection, it’s perfect. We fit perfectly. I need him this morning. I don’t want him to hold back. He feels it too, because he doesn’t start slow.

Once he’s in he keeps going and he’s going so deep and hard, the bed is jerking with his thrusts. He stops and sits up on his knees and pulls my legs up behind my knees and opens me up and begins entering me again, hard. “Jayc, gotta hurry. I’m already there. You feel so warm and good. I can’t hold back much longer,” he says, and he reaches for my hand and brings it down for me to touch myself and he shows me how to move my fingers. Once I have a rhythm, he takes his hands back to my legs and raises my knees even higher and he’s watching us, our connection and me touching myself. I feel it coming and I tighten up my legs to lift higher into him and then it hits and I see stars and I scream his name. “Max! Oh my God, Max. Don’t stop. Harder!” He pushes my knees up and comes down on top of me as his thrusts become frantic and then he moans and curses, “FUCK, Jaycee. Shit,” and he stills. “I’ve never come this hard in my life,” he says, and he collapses on top of me. “Fuck me, Jaycee. You’re perfect,” he says, and he brings his lips to mine.

We keep kissing and then my phone starts ringing. I forgot I had it set on voice and we both hear it say, “Daddy is calling.” I look to Max with a red face full of embarrassment when he says, “Jayc, he doesn’t know. He can’t see us,” and he chuckles but I’m still embarrassed when my phone speaks to me again. “Daddy is calling,” it chirps, and Max reaches for my phone, and kisses me on the nose. “Daddy’s calling. Better answer,” he says, and he pulls away and walks to the back room. I take a deep breath and answer, “Dad? Hi.”

I talk to my dad for about twenty minutes as he catches me up on what’s going on with the family other than visits to the hospital to see Grandma, who is doing great. (But that’s just for the family and her private nurses to know, everyone else thinks she’s in critical condition from the fire.) The insurance company sent out an agent and along with my uncle Brock who works for the same company, they assessed the damage to our home. It’s not as bad as originally thought. Most of damage was from the smoke and water but my room, it got hit the worse. Then he sighs and tells it to me straight. “Honey most everything in your room is a total loss. I’m sorry.” I do a mental inventory and other than the pearls Violet gave me, everything is replaceable and when I tell him that, he tells me those are replaceable too. He says that Violet, Abigail and I can go together to pick out a replacement. He tells me how Nash transferred to serve with SAFD #47. The morning after the fire, Captain Solis met all of us when he came by to check on things. He’d recognized the surname from an application he’d seen come across his desk. Guess he decided he liked our family and thought Nash would fit in well with his company since it covers our neighborhood and Nash is familiar with the community.

Jesse and Jake talked privately to their CO’s about our family situation and both got approved for permanent transfers to the area under a hardship. They’ll be going back and forth to their old bases for awhile, but as soon as the paperwork is done they’ll make a final trip to pick up their things. Abigail and Chase are back in school, but Abigail is having a little bit of a hard time because she is worrying about me. Chase asks me to call her soon, which I agree to do. Chase is Chase—he chuckles, calm, cool, and collected all the time. Grandma sends her love but she’s been driving everyone crazy with her complaining. Uncle Duke and Uncle Brock will be up soon. The famil
y was finally given the okay to visit, so Aunt Paige is going clothes shopping for me. That news alone excites me and makes me anxious to see what she picks up. Aunt Savannah has been cooking and throwing together a few things all day for Bradley and Connor to bring up to us.

Bradley and Connor took a room down at the Palacio del Rio downtown the night after the fire for what they’re calling a “pre-honeymoon.” They announced the morning after the fire they don’t plan on wasting any more time and are making it official. They were all at the house the morning after, removing furniture and dumping what’s ruined while sending most other stuff to storage. Then, he and his company will come in and start gutting the damaged areas to prep for repairs. My dad goes on to tell me that Bradley and Connor are also bringing up a couple of “items” that he thought would be easier for me to carry and use and some targets to set up against the trees and should be here in the morning. Also, not many calls but a few from the local stations wanting to do an interview about the fire and the family’s loss and injuries, but we’ve asked for privacy and they seem to be respecting it for the most part.

With those words from my dad, his voice trails off in my mind as I see Max come back in the room shirtless, with another nice fitting pair of blue jeans and his thick black leather belt on, but hanging loose. He’s left his jeans unbuttoned and he has his toothbrush in his mouth as he walks to the coffee pot and then starts looking around for the coffee and filters. He’s showered and I can smell his fresh scent. He opens the fridge and as he’s looking around in it, he starts brushing his teeth again. I watch his back and arm muscles move along with the motion. He reaches in and grabs the coffee and finds the filter in the shelf above the coffee pot. I watch as he preps it, turns it on, and then he finally looks over at me with the toothbrush hanging from his mouth and I think I must have drool coming from my mouth because he laughs and points to my phone which has dropped a few inches from my ear. When I come back to myself I jerk it back to my ear in time to hear my dad say, “So I love you honey, and I will see you in a couple of days. Don’t forget to call your sister.” Huh? “Oh, okay, Dad. I love you too. Please tell Grandma I love her and how sorry I am about everything,” my voice grows quiet as I trail off when I hear my dad say, “I told you about that shit. You’re fucking pissing me off. Stop,” he growls. “Okay, okay. I love you,” I concede. “I love you too,” he says, and we both hang up.

When I look back to Max, I narrow my eyes on his back because he knew exactly what he was doing walking in with his shirt off and showing off his hot body. Turn-about is going to be fair play.

While taking a shower and thinking of ways to get Max back I hear the door open. Max comes into the bathroom and pulls the curtain back a little. “Hey, Jaycee, I want to take you for a ride on my bike. You up for that?” he asks. “Hell to the yeah, I am,” I respond enthusiastically. “I think it will be nice to get out of here for a while and relax. We can stop for breakfast and then ride through the hills. I got an extra helmet, but by any chance did you bring any of your boots and jeans?” Crap, I have neither.

“Sorry, Max, but I don’t. My aunt Paige is shopping for me now but those won’t be here till tomorrow. Maybe another time? After I get some clothes? All I have is a pair of yoga pants and flip-flops that we picked up when Captain Walters and Sergeant Taylor took me to Target. I just grabbed something quick.” I must sound pathetic because he smiles and tells me to get on whatever I have and to hurry up. “Okay,” I respond, realizing my revenge will have to come later. I quickly finish up my shower, dress in my yoga pants, a t-shirt, hoodie, and yes, flip-flops. I do a little makeup of mascara and peach blush and a peach lip gloss and run an old hair dryer that I’d left up at the cabin a few years ago through my hair. I find an old hair band in the bathroom drawer and pull my hair back into a sloppy ponytail, anxious to get outside to Max. When I walk out, I see Max squatting down next to his badass bike doing something and looking badass himself. When he hears me he stands up and walks over to me. “You ready?” he asks, and he gives me a peck on my lips.

“Yep,” I try to sound calm but I’m failing terribly and he chuckles.

“Okay, let’s get this on,” and he helps me snap on a helmet. He walks over to his bike and throws a leg over the side and starts it.

Holy heck, that was hot. I must be drooling again because when he looks over at me he smiles again with his dimples flashing deep and reaches out his hand. I’ve ridden a couple of times with my brothers so I put my foot on the peg and swing my leg over and scoot up close, but lean back a little as he puts on his helmet and then I snuggle back up to him and wrap him up tight in my arms. We start down the back roads of the Hill Country and I’m taking everything in. I love the Hill Country. I’ve always dreamed of owning a house up here. Of having a cow named Milly, a goat named Beau, a horse named Sugar, and a bunch of kids running around. If I close my eyes right now, Max is the one standing next to me in my dream.

When we hit a main highway, Max picks up his speed and I lean into his back and close my eyes. I wish we could just keep going and never turn back, but I love my family and I have to finish this with Rocky.

I feel Max pull off the road and look to see he’s pulled into the parking lot of the Harley-Davidson. He stops and turns the motor off and taps my leg. I lift up and swing off and he follows. He takes off his helmet and then helps me with mine and stores them on the bike and we walk in. He takes my hands and pulls me straight to the boots. He looks at me and then back to the boots. He decides on a pair of the Romy’s and smiles. After finding my size he grabs them and we walk to the jackets. He grabs a Hideaway and then it’s off to grab a couple of t-shirts and a pair of socks. They don’t have jeans in my size so he tells me we’ll just have to grab a pair of the leggings for now and he grabs a black pair that are denim. One of the girls comes over and he has her pull all the tags off so he can pay while I change. When I start to protest him paying he takes me in a hug and whispers in my ear, “Jayc, I’ve waited a long time to be able to do things like this, have you in bed, have you on my bike and have you in my life. Please, let me do this? I love you.” My eyes start to water as I whisper yes and lean in to kiss him and it starts to turn heavy, right there in the middle of the Harley store. We finally stop when we hear a giggle and a woman clearing her throat. I look over and she ushers me to the dressing room and helps me get everything on. I look in the mirror and oh my God, I look hot. He just paid for my revenge. Sucker!

When I walk back out, I see him looking at some of the accessories and I walk towards him. He’s wearing a jacket almost like mine now. When I get close enough I softly say, “I’m ready,” and he turns to me and I see his body rock like he’s been pushed and he starts looking at me up and down and then turns me around. “Jayc, gotta say, you look hot!” and then he grabs me and he pulls me out of the store and to the side of the building and pushes me up against the wall and starts kissing the hell out of me. He pulls back and groans. “Let’s go. I need to feed you and then get you back to the cabin,” he says as he looks me up and down again.

I laugh and then start walking towards his bike with a little extra swing in my hips and then I lean down and act like I’m adjusting my boot buckle and I hear him growl as he follows me over and leans over to stick the extras he bought in his saddlebag and swats me on my butt. I laugh again. Payback has been served.

We stop at the Blue Bonnet Cafe for breakfast and while we’re eating Max’s phone rings. He pulls it out of his pocket and frowns at the screen and then answers, “Yeah?” While he listens to whatever they’re saying I see him tense as he straightens his back and makes a fist with the hand not holding the phone. I can’t help it, my stomach turns and I drop my fork on my plate and when it clanks he looks up at me and then reaches over and takes my hand. “I don’t know how the FUCK this happened,” he snaps loudly and a few people turn around. Then he grits the next words from his mouth in such anger everyone senses it’s best to tu
rn back around and mind their own business. “This is unbelievable. Does her family know?” There’s another pause. “Well, no shit his dad had to have pulled some strings. He obviously knows someone,” he says. “We’re in town eating breakfast, but I’m getting her back to the cabin now.”

He’s still listening as he throws money down on the table and then grabs my hand and pulls me from the table towards the door. “Yeah, we’ll wait to hear from you,” he says, and hits the off button on his phone and sticks it in his pocket. When we get to the bike I’m so freaked out I’m ready to just run in any given direction and not stop until I hit the edge of the earth and then gladly leap off. He looks at me with concern and sympathy. “What is it Max? You’re scaring me. Is my family okay? My grandma?” I ask and I let out a shaky sigh. “Please tell me,” I whisper.

“Come here,” he says, and he pulls me close. We’re only a foot apart and his arms are around my waist and my hands are resting on his chest as I look up at him with teary eyes and my lips trembling out of my control. “Jayc, everyone is okay,” he sighs and his face turns angry again. “Everything is going to be okay but listen, somehow, Rocky’s lawyer was able to get a new judge appointed to Rocky’s request for bail. His lawyer came up with some bullshit proof that the first judge has some type of vendetta against the Jennings family, so he was granted a new hearing. He’s set to go before him in two days. If the judge lowers it enough, he may be able to make bond.”
