So Hot MC Boxset

“I had no idea.” I looked at Axel. “Did you know that side of my mother, Axel?”

He laughed and nodded. “Yep. She was a real trip. She’d make huge Sunday lunches for us at the bar. Lisa spoiled us rotten. She was just about as easy to talk to as our chaplain. Many of us guys and most of the girls who hang out with our MC spent time just talking to her. She was awesome.”

No one had thought to tell me a thing about the change my mother had made. “So, I feel pretty left out.”

Dad sat on the sofa beside me, draping his arm around my shoulders. “I don’t think she wanted you to know what she was doing. She never wanted you to feel like she cared about anyone more than she cared about you, Sarah. Lisa didn’t want you to become jealous, so she’d asked me not to tell you about her newfound social status. I knew she hung out with most everyone from my MC – outside of that – I have no clue.”

Eyeing me, Axel purposely put Dad to thinking about other things. “So, where can we put Sarah and the other girls to keep them safe while we do what we need to do, boss?”

Dad’s eyes had clouded over as he went deep into thoughts that he couldn’t have yet. “Oh, that. Well, I think we can put them in that vacation rental house Johnny has on the outskirts of town. It’s secluded and we’ll be able to put some guards around it to keep them safe.”

“Sounds good.” Axel took a seat in a chair across from us. “I sent the girls home to pack a few things. They’ll be back soon though. I’d like to get them over there as quickly as we can. I’m worried about the Reapers fucking up Sarah’s house since she hasn’t done what Cane wants her to do yet. Moving her is best.” He looked at me with a grim expression. “I think using Sarah and the others for bait might be the best idea.”

“The idea of using my daughter as bait doesn’t sit well with me, Axel.” Dad hugged me tightly to his side. “But I want this over with as quickly as it can happen. To avoid all-out war with the Reapers, we’ll have to be as covert as those fuckers were about killing my wife.” He looked at Axel. “You said there were three of the Irish Reapers who left with Lisa, right?”

“That’s what we were told, yes.” Axel ran his hand over his beard. “So, we have to get those three to come to our bait.”

“And we’ve got to find out who the fucker is that took Lisa to them in the first place. No one dies until I have that name, Axel. No one.” Dad hugged me even tighter. “I will kill them all. Not one of them will be allowed to keep breathing.”

I felt I had to let my father know what my mother would think about this. “Dad, you know Mom wouldn’t want you to do this. You might get hurt.” I looked at Axel. “You might get hurt too. If Mom was so close to everyone involved with the Iron Cobras, then she wouldn’t want even one of you to get hurt just to seek retribution for her death.”

Dad stood up, looking down at me with shining eyes. “What would you have me do, Sarah?”

Shrugging, I knew what my father’s response would be, but I felt like I had to at least say it, “You could turn them over to the authorities and let the justice system deal with them. That way no one in the Iron Cobras would get hurt and Mom’s death would be avenged in a legal way.”

Axel laughed, the sound deep and even a little scary. “Sarah, you live in a fantasy world. Do you know that the Irish Reapers have men in the police department? Do you know that at least five of the men in that MC are lawyers? Three of them are criminal lawyers. These men are bad, Sarah. And they’ve made sure that they can protect their own, at all costs. So if you think the authorities will dole out justice to any of them, you’re sadly mistaken.”

I knew how they would react, but I had to voice my concerns anyway. “And leaving it all alone is out, huh?”

Dad looked at me like I was crazy. “You would have your mother’s killers walking around like free men?”

“No.” I just didn’t want anyone on our side to get hurt. “But I wish you and Axel would sit back and let the other men do the dirty work. I really am worried about you two getting hurt. If I could take this on myself, I would rather do that, than let you guys get hurt.”

My father looked at Axel, confusion filling his face. “Why’s she so worried about you?”

I wasn’t going to leave Axel hanging with that question, so I answered that myself, “Dad, I’ve worked closely with Axel. Of course, I don’t want anything to happen to him. So, let’s think about this. Maybe I can be the one to take Cane and the other two men down.”

My father and Axel shut me down as they spoke at the same time, “No way in hell.”

“You two are set on getting into danger, aren’t you?” I huffed and crossed my arms over my chest. “As a woman, I could handle things more delicately and no one, except the bad guys, would be harmed. You guys will go in, guns blazing, and that will only draw their fire. I can be more covert. Cane would think that I’m giving him what he wants – me. And I’ll give him so much more. Maybe some poison. Or perhaps you could find me a little knife that I could puncture his chest with. You know? Right in the lungs or maybe jab him in the neck, severing his jugular vein. How hard could it be?”

The way my father and Axle looked at each other told me that they both thought me to be crazy. My father sighed. “Sarah just be happy that I’m allowing you to participate in your mother’s revenge by being bait. Now, I’ve got to make a few calls to get things going. You need to pack, sweetie.” He looked at Axel. “You too. You’re going to guard her.”

I didn’t want my father out there alone. Not with the fact that one of his MC brothers was the one who’d taken Mom to meet her death. Frantically, I got up and grabbed Axel’s arm. “No! No, Dad. He should be with you. I only trust him to have your back right now. I’ll be safe with the girls and whoever you get to watch over us. But you? Well, you’ll need someone trustworthy to watch your back, Dad.”

“All of my brothers are trustworthy, sweetie. And I’d like someone trustworthy keeping you safe. Axel stays with you.” He turned to walk away, leaving me feeling deflated.

Axel could see my inner turmoil and knew he had to do something. “Boss, I can put my best man on guarding Sarah. I would like to have your back on this. It would be a privilege and an honor, sir.”

My father stopped then turned back to look at both of us. “You two have gotten pretty close since working together, huh?” He nodded. “You don’t have to answer that. It’s plain to see. If you trust another man to watch over my daughter so you can come with me, then I’ll have to trust your judgment on that, Axel.”

Looking up at Axel, I whispered, “Thank you.”

Nodding, he smiled at me. “You’re welcome.”

An hour later, Axel had me and three of the other girls in his truck. Dad had the other four girls in his car. They took us to a three-bedroom home, five miles out of town. The closest neighbor was almost a mile away. Three Harley’s were parked on the dirt road that served as a driveway in front of the older home.

Eve sat in the backseat and I turned in the front seat to look at her. I hadn’t had the chance to tell her not to say anything to my father. “Eve, we don’t want Dad to know that one of his MC brothers is in on my mother’s murder. And I didn’t tell him that you were the one to tell us about this. I need the names of the other men you saw with Cane that night they took my mother with them.”

“Bastian and Rob.” She nodded. “And I’ll be glad not to let anyone else know what I’ve told you and Axel. Even after those men are gone, any one of the other men in the Irish Reapers could come and cut my tongue out for what I’ve done.”

The other girls who sat on either side of Eve looked at her, each one knowing that they too had to keep their mouths shut. As they nodded at her, she reached out, pulling them in for hugs. I smiled as Axel pulled to a stop. We would all be in this thing together. I had never been in any situation as dangerous as this one. And I would have to take the things I knew to the grave with me

Axel got out of the truck and the rest of us followed
along, going into the house to find three men waiting for us. “So, this will be your home for a bit,” Johnny said as we came in. “Welcome to my vacation rental. It was my grandmother’s, hence the old lady décor.”

Ralph and Joe flanked him, looking us all over. Dad and the other girls came inside. “Thanks for putting them up here, Johnny.” He nodded at the other men. “Ralph, Joe, I trust you men with the life of my daughter. Don’t let me down.”

As they nodded, Johnny added, “I’ll be around too, Carl. They’re all safe with us. You take care of whatever it is you have to take care of. These young ladies will be perfectly safe until you get your business done.”

That told me my father hadn’t filled everyone in on what he was going to do. So I looked at the other girls, silently letting them know that we weren’t to say a thing about what my father was doing either. They all nodded, understanding completely.

The one thing I could say about my father’s MC was that no one knew everything the men in the club had going on. But they all had each other’s backs – no matter what. Except for one devious man in the whole group.

Axel hung near my side, not wanting to get too far away from me, it seemed. He took my bag out of my hand. “Come on, I’ll help you unpack before I go.”

Dad had already walked out the door with the other men, I assumed to make sure they knew what to expect, without telling them everything. So, I went with Axel as he led me back to a hallway. “Is this where the bedrooms are?” I thought about it. “And why do you know this, Axel?”

“I’ve been here a time or two.” He pushed open a door. “This one has a queen bed. You’ll be more comfortable in here.” He pointed at the one window. “Plus, there’s only one window in here. If you need to block it, you can just push that chest of drawers in front of it. In my opinion, this is the safest room in the house. So, if anything happens, you hide in here.” He kicked the door shut behind us then put my bag on the bed. “If you feel threatened in any way, you let Ralph know about it. He’s the one I trust here.”

The way he sauntered back to me, made my heart race. A sexy grin on his lips had mine pulsing with anticipation. Pulling me into his arms, he leaned in slowly. Our mouths met and I slid my arms around his neck, not wanting to let him go.

His hands moved down my back, then I felt something being pushed into my back pocket. When he eased his kiss, he pressed his forehead against mine. “I’ve put a knife in your back pocket. If you have to use it, jab it into the neck of your attacker. You were right, hit the jugular and you won’t have anything to worry about. But don’t let anyone know that you’ve got the knife. I want everyone to think you’re unarmed.”

“You don’t trust the men who are here to guard us?” The thought made butterflies fill my stomach. “Or, do you think Cane will come here and they won’t be able to stop him?”

“Baby, the only people I trust at this time are you and your father. You need to do the same thing. Only trust your father, me, and Ralph. Don’t even trust those girls. God knows that I don’t.” He kissed the top of my head, then let me go. “I’ve got to get going. I want this over with soon.”

  Me too.

  Chapter Twenty-One

  Axel

Carl and I rode in his car, after leaving Sarah and the others with our MC brothers. “The other men’s names are Bastian and Rob.”

“And the entire description of the man who took my wife into that dump in the first place?” Carl wasn’t giving up on that.

“She’s working on it. It was over two years ago and she wasn’t exactly sober on that night.” I had to keep him from wondering too hard about who’d taken his wife there in the first place. “Anyway, we’ve got to figure out how to get Cane and his cohorts alone without anyone knowing what we’re doing.”

Carl glanced sideways at me as he drove down the street. “I’ve got a couple of women who will seek the attention of the other two men. Cane will be yours to get. And we’ll all meet at the Executive Viper. That’s where I’ll be. Lying in wait.”

“So, you want me to get Cain to go there?” I didn’t want my place fucked up. “And you want those other guys taken there too?” I had high hopes that his plan wasn’t to make a horrible mess.

“I sense some worried feelings on your part, Axel. Not to worry. I’m not going to spill blood there. They took my wife out with drugs, so I will do the same for them. And after they’re doped up, we will take them and their bikes to the same place they left my wife to die.”

“Can the women you’re sending to get the other guys be traced back to our MC?” I felt I had to make sure Carl was thinking things through. His loss might have clouded his judgment.

“Neither of them can be traced back to us. They’re not from Baltimore. They’re not even from Maryland. I called in a favor from the president of the Washington DC chapter of the Iron Cobras. He sent over two girls he trusts. Now, all I’ve got to do is call him to let him know the names of the men the women are to entice.” He looked at me. “And you need to devise your own plan on how to get Cane to come to us, without him letting anyone know where he’s going or why?”

Sarah was the key to that. “Got it, boss. I don’t suppose you’ve got Cane’s cell number.”

Pulling a piece of paper out of his vest pocket, he handed it to me. “I do have it. His president made him call me to apologize and I wrote the incoming number down. I’m not sure if it’s Cane’s or not, but you should be able to get a hold of him through that number. Be sure not to leave your name though if it’s not him who answers.”

“Yes, sir.” I knew better than to do that, but it seemed we’d both be making sure the other was following protocol at all times.

Texting Sarah, I got her ready for her part – being the bait. She needed to be prepared to talk to Cane on the phone. Somehow, I would have to make it seem like she was at The Executive Viper, waiting for him to come get her. A three-way call might do the trick.

Carl stopped at my place, letting me out. “Get on your bike and get to the club. But be sure to hide it in the back. I’m going to pick up my enclosed trailer so we can use it to dispose of things. I’ll park in the back as well. Leave that back door open for me. Turn off all the security there too. I don’t want anything stopping any of them from coming inside.”

I wasn’t sure what Carl had planned. “And where should I get Cane to go in?”

“I told the girls to get the other men to go in through the front entrance. Get Cain to go in that way too. I’ll be using the small private areas on the righthand side of the stage. Tell him to go to the one with the curtain closed, I’ll be sure to leave the others open. And be sure to leave the outside lights off. It also needs to be after dark before they come. The fewer people who can see their bikes there, the better. I’ll get them moved to the trailer as quickly as I can.”

“Why don’t you let me take care of that task for you, boss? And how are those women who’re enticing the other two guys getting out of there?” I wasn’t sure he’d thought it all through.

“They’ve got their own cars that they’ll be leaving in as soon as they get their men to me. Not to worry about them at all. This all should go down easily. You taking care of getting their bikes into the trailer would be great. Leave the dirty work to me, Axel. It was my wife who they murdered. This is my revenge.”

He’d made it sound so easy. Maybe a little too easy.

I decided to go inside to arm myself with a few things, just in case things didn’t go as planned. The one thing I did know – no one from the Irish Reapers could leave our place alive.

With a gun, some rope, and another knife, since I’d left mine with Sarah, I got on my Harley to head to The Executive Viper. I’d never intended for things like this to go down at my club. The only things I’d envisioned going down were lots of alcoholic drinks and women’s pretty little heads on our customer’s cocks. Murder wasn’t a thing I’d planned on.

But, when part of an MC, one never knows when death m
ust occur – or where for that matter.

Parking my bike in the back of the club, I saw that I’d beaten Carl there. After disarming the security system, I headed inside, going straight up to our office.

The smell of smoke still lingered in the air even after the cleaning crew had come to deal with the mess inside the kitchen. The day had been so hectic with the fires, the cleaning that had to be done and dealing with all the rest of the shit that had piled up for us.

I was actually glad to see the sun going down on what had been the most eventful day of my life. Hopefully, this night would end the drama for a long time. There were things I wanted to get to that I couldn’t with all the drama that had been going on.

The simple life was a thing I yearned for, for the first time in my life. Just to sit and watch television while holding Sarah’s hand was like a dream to me. Just to hold her as we slept, felt like it might not ever happen. The drama had to end, it had to go away. And I had to make sure it did.

The sound of a car’s tires crunching the gravel in the parking lot had me looking out the window. Darkness had fallen and Carl had come in without his headlights on. I went downstairs to see if I could help him with anything. He hadn’t asked me to do any more than dealing with their bikes, but I knew he couldn’t handle three men all on his own.

I met him as he came in through the back door. “Hey, what can I help you do?”

A bag hung over his shoulder. “You can help me rig up the snares.”

“Snares?” I didn’t know why I’d even asked. It wasn’t like he was going to take the time to tell me his whole plan. “Yeah, I’m here for you, boss.”

We rigged up traps in three of the private areas that would turn the men upside down, leaving them defenseless. And I got the idea that Carl could take them all out on his own even if he hadn’t had me around. “There.” He stood back with his hands on his hips. “Just like the snares, I made back when I was in boy scouts. I caught many rabbits this way. Of course, the rope wasn’t as heavy-duty as I had to use here.”
