“Alright then” Lysie said half-excited. At least, she wasn’t going to be left out from the fun.

Markson proceeded to show her the suit and Lysie squealed over it. “Oh my God, I love it!” she was soon all over the suit, checking out its features.

“You should learn how to handle the skating before starting our mission” Markson advised.

“Then give it to me and I’ll practice” Lysie demanded, and Markson readily handed it over to her.

“Make sure not to fly nor shoot at something” he added as an afterthought. “That suit has cool weapons, cool and dangerous” he made emphasis on the word.

“Is that all?” Linex furthered, he was starting to get really anxious.

“I still need more information of the military, I’m hacking yet they still haven’t discovered me” Markson informed them, his fingers moved fast on the computer.

“How long will it take?” Linex asked.

  “About 5 to 8 days”

“WHAT!” he stared at Markson in utter disbelief, a shocked expression on his face.

“Linex calm down, the military won’t kill him quickly” Joe postulated calmly.

“Yeah just have faith, ok?” Lysie added.

“Alright…” Linex muttered with reluctance, there was no way he could rest with his teacher still in danger, but he still kept his hopes up.

“Well then, that is all. You can go now” Markson replied dismissing them.

Everyone proceeded to leave the room, but Markson beckoned to them again. “Wait, before you leave…” They all gaped at him. “Let’s put a name to this team”

  “I don’t know” Joe shrugged.

“Me neither” Lysie said looking confused.

“What about… Team Magna…?” Linex suggested.

“Doesn’t sound bad” Lysie agreed, nodding her head in agreement.

“Yeah I guess it’s ok” Joe chipped in.

“Alright thank you! Now you can leave and have a good night sleep” Markson dismissed them.

“Thank you Doc” they trooped out of the lab and headed to the pipes which conveyed them back to the main house.

Linex headed back home. The house seemed empty as he opened the door which was still surprisingly unlocked. He was just at the foot of the stairs when the light turned on.

There sat his mother, looking at him gravely. “Uh… Hi mom…” his voice sounded dry, almost like a whisper.

“I’ve just wanted to know what is happening, why all of the sudden you leave? Tell me what is going on?” Jennica pleaded; he could almost tell that she had been crying.

“Mom I think I have to go… we have been all target by the militaries, and I can’t stay in here because they can hurt you too” Linex explained, he was quite sad the situation could not be helped.

His mother only broke down in tears, “Please I need you… you’re the only person I love the most”

“Mom… I’m sorry but it’s for your protection they probably think I’m not a human, you must understand that I don’t want you to be captured too, so please… I’ll be alright I can defend myself now, with this power I can get through trouble on my own” Linex replied moving closer to her.

“But you’re just sixteen… how… maybe I been to overprotective alright… if you have friends by your side then I guess it will be no problem, just when things are over please come back ok?” Jennica walked to him and embraced him.

“Of course mom, a promise is a promise and I will surely come back safely”. Linex promised, smiling at his mother.

“Have you ever wanted to hear why your…”.

There was a loud knock at the door cutting Linex and his mother’s conversation.

They stared at the door in fear, Linex gestured to his mom and she nodded in affirmation as she moved towards the door slowly and opened it.

It was Stephen, their next-door neighbor. “Is Linex around here?” he asked. Stephen was a little boy, handsome and with freckles.

“Stephen why are you up this late? Linex is here but he can’t talk right now, he…” Jennica started only to be interrupted by Linex.

“Wait! Stephen you know a lot about computing, Right…?” Linex emerged at the door, looking at him eagerly.

“Well yeah, why do you ask?” Stephen asked confused.

“Long story short I’m been chased by the military and I need your help now” Linex sighed. “Can you help me?”

“Wow, well ok then I can help you I mean if I will be in a safe place then yes” Stephen agreed.

“Thank you! Now I need to find a place where we can hide, so that we can rescue a friend from the military” Linex furthered, to be rather honest – he had expected Stephen to freak out. But the latter was taking it rather calmly.

“How can you help them if it’s too dangerous?” Stephen gaped at him in astonishment.

“I have fire powers, a crazy doctor with some strong machines, Joe and Lysie with combat skills” Linex revealed.

“Ok then?” Stephen nodded doubtfully. “Wait… Lysie is in this too?”

“Yeah she is” Then Linex proceeded to generate a fair amount of fire energy in his hand, showing it to Stephen who was looking at it now in fascination, he asked. “Believe me now?”

  “Wow…THAT’S SO COOL!” he exclaimed.

  “Right!!”

“Well then I can help you, but the place won’t be a hiding spot for long. It would be a problem for you if you get caught by surprise, so be aware about it, okay?” Stephen informed him sitting at the computer.

  Linex only nodded.

Stephen started to use the computer and after five minutes of searching around Densville, found a place that could serve as a good hiding spot. “Ok got it! The hiding spot is twenty minutes away from here. It is basically an abandoned building that it still has sufficient energy to use the computers to get access to the military base, got that?”

“I just wanted to find a good spot because who knows if my best friend’s father loses his laboratory because of them” Linex said.

“Oh ok. I understand, anyways if you ever need something contact me alright” Stephen said standing up from the computer.

“Thank you Steph, I owe you one” Linex said quite grateful.

  “No need” Stephen replied.

“Linex I got to clothes, food and your stuff ready in the bag if you have to go in some point” Jennica announced.

“Mom it’s not now but thank you so much…” Linex kissed her on the cheek.

Urilion popped out of Linex’s chest as a ball of fire and floated right in front of them. “I’ll be out for tonight if something bad happens” the dragon stated.

“Alright Dray” Linex nodded in affirmation.

“What is that?” Stephen and Jennica gaped at the dragon curiously.

“Oh… mom I haven’t told you, but this is my pet dragon” Linex smiled, winking at Urilion.

The dragon only frowned and breathed a ball of fire from its nostrils. “I’m no one’s pet, if you say it again I will crush you”

  “What? Mad now?” he teased.

“Linex enough of your ridiculousness” the dragon puffed up another ball of flame which formed a circle and vanished in the air.

“Anyways I’m about to leave, See you tomorrow, Good night!” Stephen announced taking his leave. The door closed with a soft click.

“Good night” Linex called after him.

“I’m so worried Linex, I…” Jennica sobbed, her chest heaved up and down with heavy breathing.

“Mom I’ll be alright, believe me ok?” Linex said trying to convince her, he proceeded to hug her, but she only broke down again in tears.

“I’m going to miss you when the time comes” Jennica shook her head defiantly; tears cascaded her cheeks.

“I know mom, I’ll miss you more, I’m really sorry I went into trouble...” Linex replied kiss
ing her on her forehead.

“it’s ok… you always go in trouble”. Jennica replied and they laughed.

“Ha-ha I know… I’m heading to bed, few I’m so tired”. Linex yawned going up stairs to get a good night rest.

Everything went calm and Linex went to bed.

Dray stood at the window side and kept watch. While Jennica sat in her bed back in her room staring at an old photograph, she was sobbing silently. “Oh… you left so soon and now Linex is about to leave too… I hope you are fine out there”

“You know… there was something familiar to Sensei Aiden, did you had that feeling too when you discovered his powers?” Urilion asked.

“I guess I did but he is different than me, right?” Linex asked.

“I don’t know, but I felt a power, similar to ours inside of him like we are the same person” Urilion replied.

“Well maybe is just that we share similarities, but we are totally different we are not even family to begin with” Linex trailed off.

Urilion nodded in agreement. “Perhaps you’re right… forget about it then, have a good night Linex”

“You too Dray” Linex replied. Sleep soon enveloped him and he was soon plunged into a dream-world filled with monsters and heroes.

  CHAPTER 13

  I WILL BE ALRIGHT

The very next day, Linex woke up at quite early. Urilion had kept watch over him all through the night. The dragon glanced at him, releasing wisps of smoke from its mouth.

Linex yawned and stretched himself out. “Hey Dray, you alright?” he asked.

“Yes, how was your sleep?” the dragon asked.

“Pretty good, but I’m so tired now since I slept late” Linex replied, he examined Urilion and noted with some discomfit that the dragon was equally quite tired. “Dray you can sleep too; you shouldn’t stay awake all night because of what we got through”

“It’s alright, Linex, there is no problem to it” the dragon insisted.

Linex got out from bed and moved closer to Dray, they both stared out the window in his room, watching the street below.

“You know…I wish I could see new things outside of my hometown” Linex noted.

“What is so special about it?”

“Well I just want to discover new things that’s all and enjoy my life on new adventures and now I feel like I want to become a good fighter”

The dragon caught a glimpse of Linex’s face and nodded its head in understanding. “I guess I get your point, to become a fighter takes a lot of training”

“Yeah and I would be very grateful about it” Linex added, just at the windowsill – a black crow settled there and hopped about for a while before taking flight again.

Urilion smiled. “Oh well, I think I’ll rest now, gotta get inside the temple”

“Alright, rest well buddy” Linex replied. Closed his eyes and Urilion once more transformed and entered into his body.

“Thanks” the dragon whispered disappearing into the confines of Linex’s body.

Linex headed downstairs, the sun was almost up, and rays of sunlight filtered through the open blinds just after the last flight of stairs. “Hi, mom” he greeted, taking his place at the table.

“Good morning Linex, how you’re doing?” Jennica asked, her eyes were still quite swollen, she had been crying all night.

“Good, what about you?” he moved closer to her.

“Well a bit tired but I’m alright” his mother replied, she only looked away from him, not wanting to look at his face.

“Mom…” Linex started, but at that same moment – the phone rang. He strode towards it and picked it up.

“Hello?” he said in almost a whisper.

“Linex, what are you doing?” it was Lysie. She sounded a bit excited.

  “Nothing, why…?” Linex probed.

“I’m coming to your house” she replied.

“Ok then, I’ll be waiting” Linex said, he had wanted to say more but decided against it.

“ok then, I’ll be there soon” she replied. There was a soft click and the dial tone resounded like a steady beep. She had hanged up.

Linex dropped the phone, turned around to find his mother standing right behind him. She seemed troubled, like she wanted to talk to him about something. The silence was awkward – and when she had finally summoned enough courage. She said. “I want to talk about your father”

“Really? what is it?” he asked suddenly very anxious. Over the years, she had never talked about his father – it was a subject that she avoided like a plague.

“Well to tell you the truth… he actually ran away in a late night” she had a distant look in her eyes, like she was lost in some kind of trance.

“So… I don’t understand why he would do that?” Linex asked quite surprised.

“I don’t know, he never told me, he just got up from the bed and the next morning he was gone” Jennica muttered.

This revelation only angered Linex but he tried not to show it. There was basically no need to actually get his mother more worried than she already was. He also not failed to notice the dark circles under eyes. “Mom don’t worry, I’ll do the breakfast…”

“It’s alright Linex… maybe there has to be reason why he left” she placed a hand on his shoulder, Linex glanced at her. She was definitely tired.

“Mom…” he pleaded. “Just let me”

Jennica looked at Linex; “You look just like your father” looking at him make her want to see her husband again.

“I’m not him, he left us behind, and I wouldn’t never do that… please mom sit down and look some television while I finish the breakfast, alright?” he urged until she finally agreed.

After a while Lysie arrived and found Linex in the kitchen finishing breakfast. “Hey Linex” she said making her way through the living room into the kitchen.

“Hey Lysie, I wanted to talk to you about a secret place where the Team Magna can be comfort on doing the work we need to save Aiden” Linex informed her.

“Seriously; and where is the place?” Lysie asked, rather curious.

“I need to contact my neighbor he knows it and he is probably doing the road for us since we cannot be discovered by cameras around the city” Linex furthered. Breakfast was served, and Linex invited Lysie to join him.

“So, how you’re doing?” Lysie asked, looking at him with concern.

“I’m good for now, what about you?” Linex replied.

“I’m fine; my dad was up all night, dreaming that he lost a ping pong match to us” Lysie smiled at that. “You should have seen him; he was all so flustered”

They laughed at that for a while. Jennica’s voice floated down towards them. “Linex, you gotta see this”

“Huh? What is it mom?” Linex asked trudging up the stairs alongside Lysie; he could hear the muffled sounds coming from the television.

“Just get here quick…” his mother repeated. They were soon in the upper room, watching the television as the news anchor reeled out the breaking news: “A rampage as happened around the city with two weird looking monsters and a lot of smoke was around the area. While there was old man with some fire around him and few teenagers, according to the information, one of them was badly injured, and the rest were defending him.

And after that, the monsters entered a supposed portal and got away while everyone else ran off, and according to the military bases we got information that the old man was captured and put to test. We don’t know what’s going to happen, but we surely know that he is a threat to all of us”.

“Dang it…” Linex groaned, kicking at the wall.

“Oh no... this could mean that if we show up outside the social media will be targeting us” Lysie said in dismay.

“No doubt on that” Linex agreed, he was going to end this once and for all.

  “Linex…” Jennica whispered.

  “Mom…”
he answered turning on his fire powers to max. “I’ll be alright trust me”

“I believe in you, I know you will come back safe” Jennica said nodding her head, her eyes glistening with tears.

“I will, love you mom and see you soon!” Linex assured her. He and Lysie bounded out of the living room and headed downstairs.

“Linex call your neighbor, we need him quickly” Lysie advised.

  “Right” Linex agreed.

Linex picked out his cell and dialed up Stephen. After a few rings, Stephen's voice came on clearly.

“Stephen are you at home?” Linex asked.

“Sure, what is it?” Stephen sounded quite frightened.

“Did you see the news?" Linex furthered.

“Yeah I’ve saw it, and I’ve been looking through the internet and the social medias are going crazy with it, including the last time where the huge monster appeared in the city and saw you in there too, they think that you are a monster too” Stephen affirmed.

“No way I just protected them from that creature… Stephen get here quick please” Linex said, he was starting to get really desperate.

"I’m on my way Linex” he replied. And with that; the call ended.

“He is on his way; I should contact Joe and Markson” Linex informed Lysie.

“Yeah good idea, we need them now” Lysie said in agreement.

“What is it, noobie?" Joe asked, Linex could hear the clink of an aluminum baseball bat; Joe was probably at a game.

“Joe we need you now quickly” Linex blurted out hastily.

  “Why?”

“Haven’t you heard the news!?!” Lysie interrupted grabbing the phone from Linex.

“I don’t look at stupid series” Joe grumbled.

Lysie snapped. “Is the news not series… just get here with Markson, and don’t get caught by the social media”

“Fine, on my way” Joe agreed.

“Well at least they are getting here I hope he understood the part of coming without getting caught by the social media” Linex sighed ending the call.

  “Yeah, I guess” Lysie agreed.
