Emory rolls her eyes at us. “I don’t know why you two are so anti-baby.” She turns her son Darcy, on her lap to face us. “Look at this little chunk of love. How could you not want one of these?”
“I have a list, wanna hear it?” Lennon fires back. “Number one: Poop. Number two: Puke. Number three: Pacifiers. Number four—”
“What’s wrong with pacifiers?” Kins asks, popping one in Aria’s little mouth as she rocks her in her arms.
“How many times have I had to try find that damn pacifier when Ari’s cracking it and won’t go to sleep without it? Or she spits it out in the sand at the kiddie park and I’ve gotta go find somewhere to wash it, or—”
Kins holds up a hand. “Okay, okay, I get it. Point made.”
Lennon gives a satisfied nod. “Thank you.”
“What about you, Adley? What’s your baby phobia about?” Tia asks. “We’ve never really discussed babies.”
I shrug. “It’s not a phobia per se. More like a legitimate concern. Aside from the things Len already mentioned, there’s the lack of sleep. That’s a big one right there. You know how I feel about my sleep.” I shudder at the thought of unending sleepless nights. Hell to the no. “And if you drop it, you’ll break it. That’s way too much pressure for me,” I tell her, taking a sip of my drink.
Tia nods, then says, “So, is now the time to tell you you’ll be an aunty in four months?”
Again, I choke on my cocktail. And everyone bursts out laughing as I try to regain my bearings.
A large, firm hand smacks my back as I gasp for breath. I twist my head to the side, meeting Dax’s amused gaze.
I frown and sputter, “Wh-what are y-you doing here?”
“We decided to crash your girly time,” he says, then drops a kiss to my temple.
I arch a brow, “We?” Dax steps to the side revealing his posse’. Atticus, Sebastian, Archer, Bates, Sam, and Arlo are all making their way toward our group.
When I bring my gaze back to Dax, he’s watching me in that way he does that makes my heart beat faster and my pulse thunder in my ears. Then he cups my cheeks, tilts my face up and kisses me senseless.
