With that Racheal closed her eyes as they both stood up. Freya pulled all the magical energy she could from her surroundings and started to move the boxes and debris in a vortex stream around the two girls. The bits of wooden boxes started to hit the men as they got closer, their clothing signets flashed in protection, preventing any significant harm to the men. Freya saw that what she was doing would not be enough as it was only slowing the approach of the men. The assailants lunged closer, almost past the vortex stream and upon then.

Something broke in Freya mentality, and she pulled power from the deep recesses of her body. She felt a wave of power like never before, coming from every cell of her small body. This, Freya added to the energy of the vortex. Not only was it flying box debris, but now it was flashes of: fire, lighting and pure energy. As the energies in the vortex increased to maelstrom of power the men were swatted away. Their bodies like paper swirled in the vortex. Not only the men, but everything in the room started to move violently around the two small girls. The air was a blur of power and debris, soon the walls of the warehouse were ripped apart. As the maelstrom continued outwards, Freya fought to gain control of the overwhelming power. Before she was able to control and stop the vortex the whole of the warehouse had been destroyed. The whole area was flattened, and the large vehicle had been shredded to pieces.

Freya breathed and looked over at Racheal., “Keep your eyes closed and take my hand and follow me.”

As Freya guided Racheal across a few hundred meters of debris, she could not help but feel like the power had been unleashed from within her was still unstable. The power felt like a dangerous tiger, ready to attack at any opportunity. Racheal and Freya were soon back in the vehicle, and Freya set the destination for Racheal’s home. On the way back, Freya was consoling the small girl, as she was frightened by the whole experience.

Freya said in a quite small girls voice, “Please don’t tell anybody that I rescued you when I drop you off at home.”

Racheal nodded her head and made a promise not to tell. Within half an hour Freya, watched from a distance as Racheal walked to her houses gate. When her father answered the gate and saw his lost little girl. He exclaimed with surprise and quietly pulled her into a hug. The last thing Freya saw was a loving parent carrying in his child to safety. She would have cried at that point but the over whelming feeling of power inside her body had not abated. She was still fighting with all her will for control.

Chapter 5 Control of Her Powers

As Freya arrived home, she quickly went to her martial arts training room. She sat down in a meditative pose and started to run through a calming exercise she had learnt as part of her training. This helped a little, but the power was still raging inside her like waves of force, pushing out from the insides of her body. Every now and then magical energy would leak out of her body, producing a small force that hit a wall or door frame. She could feel inside every cell of her body a small sun of magical energy burning. As the energy accumulated in her body, she started to see her skin shine with everchanging magical inscriptions. The speed of the changing inscriptions on her skin increased until a bright light shone from her skin into the dark room. The magical energies were starting to distort space and time surrounding Freya, and it seem that she entered a dream like state where all her movements changed speed and direction suddenly.

Thinking that she needed to eject some of the magical energy from her small body, Freya got out some of her inscription tools. With a clothing marker, Freya drew as many protection inscriptions on her t-shirt as she could. When she was done, Freya started to pour in as much power as each inscription could take.

Freya, thought, “At its current level of power, it would be impossible to destroy this clothing, except with an equivalent level of power. I don’t know anybody who can handle this amount of magical power at once.”

The magical power within her body was still raging, but Freya had just been able to take the edge off the excess power. The small girl inscripted the room’s insides with confinement and protection inscriptions. As she started to pour power into each of the inscriptions, she started to gain control of the flow of magical power once again. But Freya still wanted to drain more until she felt normal. From her work with inscriptions, she knew that all magical vehicles and any machine that needed magical power to work had the equivalent of magical energy battery cells. A lot of them used small magical crystals with inscriptions on them for energy storage. Freya knew she had some around the house, so she left the training room and went to find them. In the study Freya, found one in her desk drawer. Immediately, she started to infuse it with all the magical energy she could. Within ten minutes, she had filled it to capacity. Freya estimated the amount of power inside was enough to power a large vehicle for several years of travel. Because of the amount of energy inside, this crystal was now worth a small fortune. Meanwhile the magical energy within her body was now under control and Freya was able to relax for a while. She casually filled up several more crystals with energy to help her gain more control.

Freya got on the farseeing network and ordered hundreds of empty magical energy crystals. While she was waiting for a quick delivery, Freya came up with the design of a necklace with crystal slots. It had inscriptions that would automatically drain her magical power so she would not have to think about it all the time. In a couple of hours as the power in her body was building up, she received the delivery of empty power crystals. She fitted ten of the crystals into her necklace to start draining away her excess power production.

As the night wore on Freya designed more necklaces and bracelets, she could wear to pour her body’s magical power that she endlessly generated. By the time she had finished, she had several days of magical power storage on her body. Freya knew that with all magical energy in the crystals, she could access that power all at once, if needed. Freya felt like she had become a large magical power station. After doing some basic calculations, she found, at her present rate of power generation, she had the output equivalent to meet the requirements of a city. The money she would make on the full magical crystals alone would make her very wealthy.

She could still see the faint glow of signets on her body that were randomly created. Luckily, unless it was fully dark nobody would be able to see the glow if she kept the power level down. It had been a long day for Freya, so she went to bed and decided she would deal with everything in the morning.

The next day Freya woke up still buzzing with magical energy, but the crystals had done their job, of siphoning off the excess magical power. She decided that she would spend some time over the next few months developing crystals that could contain higher amounts of magical power. As the little girl was getting ready for the day, she was able to see the faint glow of the random signets on her skin. Freya wondered if she could alter them for magical effects. Trying out her thought experiment, she concentrated on producing a magical inscription for protection on her shoulder. After a while of concentrating she was able to produce, out of the ever-changing patterns, an inscription for protection. This inscription produced an invisible shield around the skin. The more energy that Freya pushed into it, the more powerful the shield and the bright the inscription glowed. For the next few hours Freya produced a range of inscriptions across her body. These ranged from glamor effects, to invisibility and illusions.

With the new inscriptions on her skin Freya could look like an adult, in height and age. This would be an advantage in being able to get around by herself now and not call attention to herself. For the next hours Freya created illusional bodies for all her farseeing personas that she used for business work.

About mid-day Freya left the house in an illusional body of an older lady, with brown long hair. She was conservatively dressed in a business suit, that was full of expensive inscriptions. Her name was Marple Green, who worked as a freelancing inscription developer. Freya hired a self-driving vehicle to go and bank some of the energy crystals she had filled. For most people, filling ener
gy crystals was a source of extra income that could be done by the long process of putting magical energy into them. A lot of magical power companies had outlets for people to exchange the energy for money. Freya decided her task for today was to go and cash in ten full energy crystals.

She set the destination for the self-drive vehicle for the magical energy companies' outlet in the city and quickly hopped in. This was one of the major players in the industry and Freya thought it should be able to deal with her energy production. The journey was about ten minutes flight time, as the vehicle came to a hover in a parking space by the office's block, Freya got out and walked into the impressively decorated building. It was in the style of an old fashion temple. This building was not dedicated to the gods and goddesses of old, but the new god of money. Freya, in her illusion of Marple Green, was greeted by a young woman at the door, and because of her business attire was directed to the executive area into a private room.

In the room was a middle age man, sat at a table with a farseeing screen in front of him. Freya introduced herself as Marple Green and confirmed her identity with a mark.

“I’m here to setup a business arrangement for selling energy crystals, “said Freya.

The representative of the energy company nodded, “How much magical energy will you be providing on a weekly basis?”

Freya said, while passing over a full energy crystal, “It will be a minimum of one hundred of these crystals full of magical energy.”

The man’s eyes had a flicker of doubt, but he took the energy crystal and put on a pair of magically inscripted glasses for measurement.

As the man read the level of magic in the crystal, his expression showed surprise. Bewildered, he said, “With one hundred crystals of that amount of energy content, this will be a significant amount of money.”

Freya just nodded and passed over the other ten full energy crystals, which were then measured, and gave the same high reading, to the excitement and shock of representative. After the man had called over a more senior manager, Freya was able to arrange the contract and delivery of her excess energy. The amount of money this deal would supply alone would put her in the top of the wealthy elites. With all her other projects the amount of income would be excessive for a five-year-old, let alone a grown adult, but she had plans for her research.

Next on her agenda for the day was a trip to an estate agent that specialized in providing buildings for research companies. At the estate agents, under her persona of Marple Green, Freya was able to select several properties to see in the next few days to locate her soon to be research business. The last visit on the trip was with a business manager to set-up a business. With all the different wheels in motion Freya was able to go home and rest.

  --

The next morning Freya, in her persona as Marple Green, went out of the house and finalized the setup of the research business ‘Scriptum Research and Development’. After the setup of the business, the outside projection of an adult was fully calm and collected; but the small child hiding beneath the illusion was excited. As Freya travelled to a university canvas to see a property for her business, she was more excited. Being by herself in the vehicle, she did not have the illusion of her persona and moved around like an excited five-year-old at a party. Her first view of the university campus was from the air. The area was full of old cathedral-like buildings set up in squares around a courtyard. Most of the buildings were built with ancient stone carved with magical symbols all over them. Freya could feel the magical power emanating from them. As the vehicle landed, Freya got out in her persona and walked through some of the gardens around the building to meet with the estate agent. As it was a sunny day, there were lots of student on the garden lawn either studying or just sitting around talking. All of them were in their early twenties, and whole scene spoke of a relaxing atmosphere.

The estate agent met her in a large open square, with stone building surrounding it, and gardens in the centre.

The estate agent said as an introduction, “All of the building surrounding here are part of the college of magical inscription. The building you are about to see is part of their program to develop business partners in magical inscription research. You are only able to lease it if you are conducting research into magical inscriptions. At the end of the tour if you are still interested in the property, we need to meet with one of the departments heads.”

Freya, said in a clipped voice, “That is fine, shall we see the property then?”

The agent nodded and led her through large wooden doors into a reception hall. As she had a tour of the building Freya noted the large experimental labs which were empty; offices space for a few dozen people; and a private office and reception area for the director of the company. This was perfect for start of her business, especially with the large experimental labs.

Freya said to the agent, “This is perfect for me, shall we go and meet with the department head and see what they say?”

The agent nodded his head and led Freya to the opposite side of the square. They entered a large gated opening into a smaller square. An, entrance plaque indicated this was the college of magical inscription. After talking to a receptionist, Freya was led into the office of one of the heads of the department.

He greeted her politely and said, “Welcome to the College of Magical Inscription, I’m Professor Gladstone. If it is ok with yourself, could I ask you some questions?”

Freya sat down in a comfy chair opposite the head and said, “Yes of course, I hope I can answer the questions you ask.”

He firstly asked Freya, “So Ms. Green, do you have any past research papers that I can look at, to see what your track record of research is?”

As Freya’s persona Marple Green had been fully active for about two years in the research of magical inscriptions and had made some significant development in the area, so she transmitted her collection of publications and patterns to the head.

For the next few minutes Professor Gladstone looked at the transmission, and said, “Well its finally a pleasure to meet you Ms. Marple Green. I have been following some of your work in my own research. I can definitely say that we would be excited to have you as a research partner of the college. What do you plan to research in our buildings?”

Freya said, “Well the first major focus will be into high level magical energy storage and transmission to inscriptions. I’m very keen to increase the power a storage device can handle, and the increasing the maximum energy inscriptions can handle before overloading.”

Professor Gladstone was excited. “It’s an interesting but expensive area of study. The department has often wanted to conduct research into that area, but we lack the funding it would require. I’m pleased that you are interested in that area of research. I will certainly grant you permission to lease the facilities. Part of the agreement is that you present a few lectures every term to the college about the research. Is that fine with you?”

Freya smiled confidently, “Yes, that sounds perfect. It would also be good to be able to collaborate with the department.”

For the next hour they both discussed the research work and collaboration opportunities for Freya and the college. By the end of the conversation Freya was happy with the arrangement and excited for the future collaboration.

When Freya left the office, the estate agent was ecstatic with the green light for the lease. He said to Freya, “You must have really impressed them as I’ve never seen them agree so quickly to a lease.”

Freya managed to get all the scroll work arranged for the end of the day and took possession of the business property. At the end of the day, Freya went home a very tired and excited little girl, the last thing she did was setup another farseeing persona for another project. This persona would be more on the darker side of life. She wanted to be able to practices her combat skills and to do this, Freya was planning on becoming a magical combat mercenary for hire.

  Chapter 6 Changing Roles

It had been a few weeks
since Freya had setup the research company on the university campus. The majority of the time she had spent was getting setup and buying expensive experimental equipment. Freya went on her way to the university campus in a self-driving vehicle and had it hover over to her parking space. When she got out, Freya was in her persona of Marple Green, dressed in casual business clothing, as she was working on experiments today. Walking past all the university garden cheered up Freya as she loved flowers and the natural elements. Her persona of Marple Green did not show any enjoyment though, as she was all business and always in a hurry.

Soon she reached the large engraved wooden doors of her research facility and quickly entered. In the reception area was the office manager. She had been one of the first hires that Freya had done and now was tasked with setting up the office and business. The manager’s name was Beck Gray, a younger woman, in her later twenties.

Beck turned to Freya as she walked in, “Ms. Green, your nine o’clock appointment is here.”

Freya said, “Thanks Beck, send him over in five minutes, when I I’ve gotten settled.”

Freya then walked to her office which was still having the final touches to the decorations done. She activated her farseeing screen and brought up the information she had been working on. Freya had started working on higher density energy crystals and was having some difficulties with the crystalline structural theories. Her next appointment was with a doctor from the university who did his thesis on the production of crystalline structures. He had applied for a job a few days ago and Freya was very interested in employing him, if he was a good fit for the company.

Beck knocked on Freya’s door and said, “Brian Smith is really pressed to see you now. Shall I show him in to your office?”
