I notice the large diamond ring that’s sunk to the bottom and my heart blooms. “Deck?” My hand is literally shaking and I don’t know how I’m still holding the glass.
He touches his forehead to mine and delicately says, “Haley, I love you more than anything else in this world so we’re getting married and that’s all there is to it.”
I’m so happy that there’s no need to think about it, even though it doesn’t sound like I have a choice in the matter. “Yes, of course, I’ll marry you.”
We clink glasses and then he sinks his champagne in one.
I delve into my glass with a finger to pluck out the ring and then chuck the liquid over the balcony into the sand. His eyebrows rise as I place the ring on my finger. “I think it’s best I refrain from alcohol from now on.”
It takes a moment for my words to register but finally, he steps back, his hands find their way into his hair and then he’s moving forwards again, grasping my forearms. “What, you mean…?”
I don’t know how I’ve managed to keep it to myself this past hour but now I’m absolutely bouncing on my feet. “We’re having a baby.”
He picks me up and spins me around as his lips crush against mine. When finally he places me down, there’s an obscenely large bulge projecting out from beneath his shorts.
Without a word, he pulls me back towards the bed, discards the sheet from my person and tugs down his shorts. A second later I’m spreading my legs and wrapping them around his back as he finds my opening and begins slowly pushing inside.
