“I am now,” he said, giving her a kiss. “Lord, what a night. Tanya’s been booked and later today we’ll start the process of arraigning her and making certain she goes to jail for a very long time. I admit, I’m still surprised it was her. Arsonists are very rarely women, but she’s been planning this for quite a while.”
“I can’t believe it’s finally over. What a great job you did, Harlow,” she said to the dog, getting down on her knees and giving her hugs and scratches in her favorite places. “You saved the day.”
“Um, hello? What about me? The man who saved you from a burning building? Remember that?”
She stood and kissed him. “I will never forget. You saved my life in so many ways. I love you, Miles.”
“And I love you. What would you think of a fall wedding?” he asked.
“I think it sounds perfect,” she said continuing to kiss him.
“Do you think Paula is going to say she told you so?”
“Only after she stops crying,” she said with a smile.
