  Not yet…

Sorin wanted to make sure she never forgot this moment. He bit at her breast, unable to get enough of the soft mound. She opened her legs wider and he pinched the small bud of her sex.

“Ah, please, I’ll do anything you want, just finish me.” Desperately she bucked against his hand, searching for release.

  How could he resist her?

  Fool.

  Idiot.

  Weak.

Sorin grinned, the words not bothering him as they once had. So what if he was a fool for her? Or an idiot to give in to her every demand? What did he care if she, his beautiful goddess, his wife, was his one weakness? She loved him. Nothing else mattered.

Sorin buried himself in the sweet glide of her pussy, giving her what they both wanted. She squeezed his cock with her sex, the muscles surrounding him like a tight sheath. He rocked his hips in a shallow thrust.

“More,” she groaned, clawing at his ass. “Hard.”

Sorin let loose an animalistic growl as he pulled back only to slam forward. She moaned in loud pleasure. He did it again and again, pausing with each forceful thrust.

“More,” she commanded, her hands roaming his body in haphazard, nail-scratching patterns. “Fast. Take me. Finish me.”

He lifted up, bracing his weight on his arms. His knee slid up to settle beneath her thigh. Sorin pounded his hips, giving her what she begged for. She inched along the bed but he merely followed her with his hips, driving in and out at a frantic pace. Whatever the doctors had given him worked. He felt strong and alive. With each joining of their hips, he grunted. Her sweet warmth took every inch, so soft and wet against his hard size. Sweat beaded his flesh and his stomach muscles began to burn from the frantic excursion, but he couldn’t stop.

Lilith cried out, tensing in beautiful release. Her pussy quivered and gripped his shaft. The sensations were too much. His yell muffled hers as he came, spending his seed deep inside her. He jerked uncontrollably as she milked every last bit of it.

Weak, he fell onto the bed next to her, careful not to crush her with his weight. Lilith rolled onto her side, breathing hard. After a long moment passed and his heart began to slow, she said, “I demand that you finish me like that every night.”

He chuckled in contentment. Tapping the end of her nose with his finger, he said, “Yea, my lady, an order I will gladly follow. I shall also finish you in the morn.” He drew his finger over her parted lips, tracing her delicate features. “Twice in the afternoon. Before the evening meal. Whenever I see you across the courtyard. Whenever I think of you and must seek you out.”

“Maybe we should never leave the bed,” she giggled, the sound the sweetest music he’d ever heard.

“Mm.” He cupped a breast, lazily weighing it in his palm. “Perhaps that would be best. I will just have to figure out how to do my duty while I’m trapped in your bed, doing my, ah, duty.”

She gripped his hair, forcing him to look at her. His hand paused on her chest at her serious expression. “I want a life with you, a long, long life. I know you must fight, but no more rushing off into battle on your own. You have earned your honor, my lord, and you have earned the right to be happy. I want to give you that happiness and I want you around to share in mine. I want a family and a home.”

“Family?” His knee nudged her thigh and his brow lifted in question.

“No, I’m not.” She blushed and he found it endearing. “Divinity issued me a BCP ring to prevent pregnancy, but I had the doctors dissolve it. They said the ring’s effect should be reversed fully in a month’s time.”

“Then I’d better hurry.” He massaged the globe beneath his hand. “We do not have much time.”

“Hurry?” Her round eyes looked up at him, confused. “Do you want me to have the ring put back? If you don’t want children—”

“Of course I wish for children, I merely wish to practice more.” He grabbed her hip and slid her next to him. “And it will take me time to have a castle built. My lady wishes for her own home and I intend to give her one. I will have Firewall rebuilt and it can be any way you wish it to be.”

“But, the portal is here and I’m supposed to—”

“Sh.” He silenced her with his lips. “You think too much, wife. I can see your mind working behind those bewitching eyes of yours. But now is not the time for thinking, now is the time for feeling.”

Lilith opened her mouth to speak, but he didn’t give her a chance. Sorin crawled down her body and pushed her legs apart. Her sex still glistened from her release and he grinned in anticipation.

  Epilogue

“By all the bloody, mace-wielding wenches! I told you they were going to set me afire!” Lilith cursed, hitting at her skirts. Her favorite gown was ruined, burnt by the torch a drunk Lady Alana had dropped during her spin around the center bonfire. Sorin pulled her away from the giant flames. They grew taller as the townsfolk threw wood onto the inferno, rising above the prairie outside the gates of Battlewar Town. “I knew a fire ceremony would include fire, but—”

“My lady,” Sorin laughed. “It’s a small singe.”

“This plane is dangerous, my lord.” Lilith gave up on her skirts and poked at his chest, only to walk her finger across a naked pectoral to slide lightly along his arm next to a fresh tattoo. “I see you have regained your manhood.”

“And a scar!” He turned, showing her a cut along his back. The superficial wound was only one of the very few marring his smooth flesh.

“You fell off the balancing beam, didn’t you?” She laughed.

“It is still fairly won.” Sorin pretended to frown at her teasing.

“And a beautiful one at that.” She smiled, kissing his back, away from the small cut.

“I have news of Karre, Paige and Jayne,” he said, yelling louder as music rose over the earth.

“Tell me later for I know in my heart they are well.” Grabbing his hand, she bounced as a musical beat rained over them. Lilith had never been so happy. She had the excitement of talking about other planes with Divinity employees and a life with Sorin that made her complete. “Twirl with me around the fire, my love.”

Sorin complied. The motion wasn’t really dancing, but more of a lively spin in the firelight that wouldn’t stop until they couldn’t breathe and their hearts beat wildly in their chests. Lifting her off the ground, Sorin held her to his chest, carrying her as he twirled. “It would seem the gods were not set on punishing me after all.”

  Extended Prologue Excerpt

Getting her teeth knocked around in her head hurt like hell, but being able to spit blood into the face of her opponent more than made up for the discomfort. Jayne “The Sweet” Hart laughed as Big Bobby Bishop sputtered in anger. She knew he expected her to cry at the landed blow. Truth was, part of Jayne did want to cry. She wasn’t a glutton for a beating, and that last hit had left blood running out of her mouth at a steady flow. They’d been going at it for
nearly a half hour, bare-knuckle boxing—no protective gear beyond any sanctioned bioengineering, no referees, not like some of the other dimensions had. No, here on dimensional plane 241 almost anything was legal. That’s why the gladiator ring paid such big money and drew the notice of rich, inter-dimensional travelers who could afford a private plane jump through Divinity Corporation. It’s also why Jayne agreed to travel from her own world to this alternate reality where laws were more of a suggestion and killing someone in a fight was considered a good thing.

In many ways, each alternate reality was like drifting through time on her own home plane, had a singular event on the timeline been changed. Each dimension seemed to be a different outcome to a similar historical start. Some were so technologically advanced everything was done for them, and they’d found a worldwide peace and understanding. Jayne generally stayed away from those levels of existence. There wasn’t much employment for fighters in such realities.

Other planes hadn’t even developed a means of fast communication beyond throwing a bird into the air with a tiny letter tied to its leg. Still others had just installed their first aqueducts or invented their first vehicles to run without horses or oxen. Or, like 241, they had every technological comfort and yet somehow managed to maintain their barbarian sensibilities.

Any way you looked at it, Earth was Earth, just different versions of itself—same languages, matching natural events, some people looked the same but weren’t. Humans, for the most part, still resembled humans. And those with power were still greedy bastards trying to tell her how to do her job.

Big Bobby watched her expectantly, his mouth opened as if to scream in victory at any second. Jayne knew he expected her to fall with that punch. She watched as the excitement slowly died from his eyes, replaced by shock, then confusion, until finally a boiling rage. His eyes scanned the crowd before moving toward the large balcony to where his daddy sat watching. Big Bobby’s father and known gangster boss had undoubtedly assured his halfwit-of-a-lug-nut son that he was a sure winner. It wouldn’t have been so bad if Big Bobby had been an admirable opponent, but after a half hour, she could still see out of one of her eyes, and he only managed to knock her off her feet twice.

And Bossman Bishop wanted her to take a dive to this chump?

Jayne snorted. Not bloody likely. She’d never work as a boxer again—not that she had to. In her home dimension, she had plenty of money to bide her twelve lifetimes.

Divinity Corp paid her big for this fight. They were her ticket home and had the only known source of inter-dimensional travel technology on this plane. Natural slips were extremely rare and the timing of them completely predictable by the company, even if they didn’t know where the slip would go. If they didn’t take her home, she’d be stuck until the end of time. Besides, there was no way she was taking a dive just because the local gangsters had promised to…

What had Bossman said again? Oh, yeah. They were going to gang rape her grandma while she watched. It had hardly been a threat. Jayne was an orphan. Still, a part of her was up in arms for the hypothetical grandmother they’d threatened.

There was no way Bossman could know about her lack of family. The publicity put out by Divinity Corp’s entertainment division fostered the wholesome image of their Sweetheart Jayne. Of course, it was all a lie. They hired a family to take pictures with her at a rented country home—the devoted mother, the fake twin sister with a poor health condition, the baby brother and suit ‘n’ cravat dad.

The loud, almost fanatical cheering of the crowd grew. They surrounded on all sides, lining the rows upon rows of rotating theater seats. Every few minutes, the seats would shift, changing the angle from which a person watched. Lights flashed all around her. Floating cameras zipped by her head, but she ignored them. Most of the bets were on her and she never lost a fight. Never. And she would be damned if she gave this guy the reputation of being the one person who could take her down. He didn’t deserve the title or her respect. Rage grew within her that he even dared to presume he was worthy of taking her down.

Do it for your family, Jayne, she thought sardonically.

Jayne decided to teach him and Bossman a lesson. She drew her body around, preparing to kick him upside the head in a move she knew he wouldn’t see coming. Big Bobby swung again. She dodged the blow, and this time his hand merely grazed her cheek, stinging the cut she had there. She didn’t hesitate. Whipping her leg around, she swung it for his head. Suddenly, every nerve in her body exploded with pain. There was no stopping her body’s momentum as it lifted off the hard mat. The noise of the crowd faded and grew until stopping altogether. Big Bobby caught her suddenly slowed foot and pushed her backward. Nothing was as it should be. Lights streaked in her vision before her body was abruptly stopped by a metal pole slamming into her back. Then, darkness clouded her mind and she could only think one thing.

  Keeping Paige Prologue Excerpt

Great Forest, Faerian Territory, Parallel Universe

“Oh, blessed fairies of the great forest, givers of spring, and givers of life after the cold! Take our autumn offering to grant us safe winter and bring life after the snow. Take our offered sister and make her a queen of your realm.”

“Let me go, you crazed heretics!” Paige screamed, kicking and jerking her limbs to be free of the hands that held her high over a sea of ivy-crowned heads. Outrage pumped hard and fast through her veins until she felt as if her heart might burst from her chest in little pieces. “You don’t want me. I’m not a believer. I will curse you with dead trees and wilted flowers. My father’s people will not stand for this!”

All right, so the last part was a lie. Her father’s people wouldn’t care what the Faerians did to her. In fact, she half expected they traded her to the crazed women to be rid of the last of her cursed family. How else would the heretics have known where her hunting ground was located? Or that she’d be there following the buck migration.

The Faerians ignored her pleas and threats, answering the priestess’s words with random exclamations of, “Oh, blessed fairies!” and “Take our Forestter sister. Grant us life!”

Long, drifting branches passed over her, the yellowed leaves falling with each push of the breeze. They hit her chest and hips, and fluttered onto the female heads surrounding her only to tangle in their flowing locks. A tiny giggle mingled amongst the swaying treetops and Paige stiffened in horror. Soon the first laugh was followed by more mischievous sounds, as if a choir of fairies watched the procession. She couldn’t see them, but that didn’t mean they weren’t there and very real.
