But then he was on me, pushing me against the wall, his body pressed against mine. His lips met my own and I opened for him, letting his tongue plunge into my mouth, claiming me the way I craved. His hands wrapped around my waist and pulled me close. He was hard, ready, so close. He'd made me realise what opportunities graduating from TTA would give me. I'd no longer be bound by the rules students were bound to. If, no, when I returned as a teacher, I'd be able to travel wherever I wanted as part of my research. Time agents were restricted by their assignments, but as a teacher, I'd be a lot less controlled. And even better, I'd be able to work alongside Seamus.
"How do you feel?" he asked with a warm smile.
"Like a penguin who's fallen into a turquoise paint pot," I quipped.
"Then you're a very pretty penguin. Shall we go downstairs?"
"In a minute. Can I have a kiss first?"
He grinned. "Didn't you already claim several kisses a few minutes ago?"
I shrugged. "What can I say, I'm greedy like that. Besides, as soon as we leave this room, you're going to be my teacher again."
"Not for long. The graduation won't last longer than an hour."
"That's long enough." I fluttered my eyelashes at him. "One more kiss, pretty please?"
"Only if you promise me something."
"Anything."
"If you ever travel to the Great Library again, don't take anyone with you. Just me. I want it to be our place. Our secret. The point in history that belongs to us and only us. The moment we became more than just two humans living their lives."
I reached up and cupped his cheek, moved by his words. "I promise. Now kiss me."
This time, he did as I’d asked. His lips were warm and soft, his kiss gentle but passionate. I leaned into him, wrapping my arms around him, hugging him tight. He was mine, my Seamus, my lover. I was going to stay here so I could be with him. Go on adventures. Travel through time. Learn and study and inspire others.
When we parted, his smile was like sunshine on my skin. He took my hand and led me to the door. Once I stepped outside, I'd close a chapter of my life. I would no longer be a student. Before, that had filled me with dread. Now, I was ready to pen the first words of the next chapter.
I took a deep breath and let go of his hand. "I'm ready."
