Temporal Locum Page 30

by Wendie Nordgren

Abigail confided, “I tried everything with Daisy. I sang to her, tried to pet her, whispered pretty words to her, but she never took a liking to me.”

Eurig’s eyes shot from Bym to his mother. He gave Bym a silent warning not to cuss by lifting up a bar of soap. Patting Abigail’s hand, she smiled and kept to herself the words of love which she often exchanged with Donkey. Given time, the truth would come out because it had been reported to her that Donkey also had a soft ethereal glow.

Around women, Abner was the shyest man she’d ever encountered. They had shared chaste kisses. He’d brought her handpicked flowers and gifted her with baked treats, and he had almost gathered the courage to hold her hand. Bym glanced at him from across the farmhouse table and smiled. It would be a long courtship, but they had plenty of time.
