  “Her mother.”

She grimaced in distaste at those words. “Ida Mae?”

“She didn’t tell me her real name.”

Nikki’s face contorted in a look of abhorrence. She mumbled something under her breath that sounded surprisingly like, “That bitch!”

“Lizabeth doesn’t know you know. You might want to tell her before things go much further.”

  “I don’t know how she’ll take it.”

Jubal leaned forward, wishing he could ease her distress. He liked Nikki. She obviously loved Lizabeth very much, even though she wasn’t her biological mother. And from observing her interaction with his brother and their kids, she was a devoted wife and mother. “She’s torn. She’s afraid to tell Jonas she knows the truth. She hasn’t told me what she’s so afraid of, but, whatever it is, she’s terrified of it.”

Nikki leaned her head against the back of her chair, looking upward as if seeking divine intervention. “Oh, God! I’ll have to talk to Jonas about this.”

“Right, I’ll keep my distance until this is resolved.”

Nikki gave him a grateful smile. “Thanks, I think that would be best. We’ll have to hash this out, as soon as possible.”

Jubal nodded and stood to take his leave. He would keep his feelings for Lizabeth to himself for the time being. Once she and her parents came to terms, he would approach Jonas.

Daniel Morrow cut class again. He pushed open the door to Te Cher’s, Harrisburg’s one and only bar. The door was so old it looked ready to fall off its hinges. It was mid-afternoon and only a couple of men and one well-dressed woman sat at the bar. The two pool tables, a jukebox, and cigarette machine were the only things occupying the bar room, besides the barstools and one wooden table in the corner, where some of the locals got together for card games. Neon beer signs on every available wall were the bar’s only decorations. A half wall with square wooden columns separated the barroom from the dance floor, where a French band played most Friday and Saturday nights.

Daniel walked over to take a seat two stools away from the well-dressed woman. He checked her out in the mirror located behind the bar, but all the liquor bottles partially obstructed his view, so he turned his head to sneak a peek at her. She was hot. Looked to be about late twenties or early thirties, if he’d take a guess. A guy he knew from around town, Mike Tweedel, sat beside her. Mike caught Daniel’s glance and touched his left forefinger to his forehead in recognition. Mike then leaned toward the attractive woman to whisper in her ear. As soon as he finished speaking, the woman turned her speculative gaze toward Daniel.

With interest, Daniel watched as she put her right hand in the middle of the seat of the barstool next to him, sliding her left hand along the old scarred wooden bar to keep her balance, so she could scoot along into it.

“Hi there,” the woman greeted him.

  “Hi.”

“Mike here tells me you’re a friend of Lizabeth Horville.”

Daniel looked over the woman’s head toward Mike, not too happy about the guy’s big mouth. Why did this woman want to know if he knew Lizabeth? What kind of interest did she have in her? As it was, Daniel wasn’t too happy that he’d not heard from the girl who’d blown him away with her sexual antics. He’d been on his best behavior, but still hadn’t heard from her.

Mike looked away from Daniel’s pissed off gaze and kept sipping on his beer, continuing to avoid his gaze in the mirror, when Daniel turned back to face the bar.

“What’s it to you?” Daniel couldn’t suppress his aggravation.

He looked down as he felt the woman’s petite hand slide onto his own larger hand. “She’s the daughter of someone I know.”

Well, then why the hell was she asking him about Lizabeth? But he was intrigued enough to turn back toward her. “Oh yeah?”

The woman frowned when he wasn’t more forthcoming with information. “Is there any place we can talk privately?”

What was she up to? She turned toward him, effectively cutting off the view of the other occupants of the bar. Daniel’s gaze jerked down when he felt the woman slide her hand up his jean-covered thigh. When he looked back to her face, he read the sexual invitation in her eyes.

  “I...well...”

“I’ll make it worth your while,” she insisted.

Shit! Who was he to refuse her? “I have my truck outside,” he offered.

  “Great, let’s get outta here.”

Daniel stood and escorted the woman from the bar. Watching her sexy little figure, he followed her to his truck. She was dressed in a black colored skirt, with a purple and black checked jacket with fur around the cuffs, and five-inch spiked high heels. In the bar, he’d noticed the frilled shirt exposed through the front of her jacket. Glittering jewels stood out in places like Te Cher’s and Harrisburg, and her necklace, earrings, and huge rock were definitely eye catchers.

She stood next to the passenger side of his truck and waited. Daniel rushed to open the door for her and watched as she stood up on the running board to slide onto the seat. Her short skirt rose to give Daniel a tempting view of her muscular thighs.

“Ah, hmmm.” The woman gave a delicate cough.

Daniel jerked his captivated stare from her thighs. “Oh, sorry.”

“No sweat,” she said and gave him a wicked smile.

As he rounded the front of his truck to the driver’s side, he could feel her gaze following him.

When he hopped into the truck and got comfortable, he asked, “Okay, what can I do for you?”

She eased closer to him, delicately avoiding the granny shift sticking up from the floorboard. “Can we go some place more private than the middle of this po-dunk little town?”

“Sure.” Daniel started the truck and drove to the outskirts of town. He drove down a dirt road that was Harrisburg’s equivalent of lover’s lane. Since it was the middle of a school day, he knew they could be alone there.

She looked around with interest. Did she know this was Lover’s Lane? Was she aware that there was an old abandoned barn next to it?

When he turned off the engine, she slid back next to him, letting her right hand touch his nearest arm and moving it back and forth as if caressing him.

He turned toward her. “Is this better?”

She smiled and let her hand slide down to his thigh. “Mmmm, yes, this is perfect.”

“Now, what can I do for you?”

She resumed the back and forth movements she’d used on his forearm, frankly caressing him. “I have a proposition to make.”

  “A proposition?”

“Yes, do you know Lizabeth Horville very well?”

He frowned down at her. “I don’t know if I should talk to you about that. I don’t even know your name.”

“Oh, that’s easily fixed. My name is Ida Mae Dugas.”

“Why does that name sound familiar?”

  “Ever heard of Benjamin Dugas?”

“The rich old coot that lives on the outskirts of town?”

Ida Mae grinned, obviously not taking offense at Daniel’s description of the man. “Yeah, that’s right. He’s my husband.”

“Your husband! Oh crap, I’m sorry.” Daniel couldn’t imagine this hot young thing married to that old man.

Ida continued her caressing touch. “No need to apologize. I know he’s old. What’s your name?”

“Name’s Daniel Morrow,” he supplied. His mind filled with the possibilities of what her arousing touch signified. Did she hope to find a young man to give her the satisfaction the old man could no longer give her? He wouldn’t mind helping her out. His body stirred at her touch. His dick pressed against the zip of his jeans. He could feel her satisfied gaze as it dropped to his crotch.

“Very nice to meet you, Daniel,” she didn’t even look back up to his face as she said the words.

He gulped and said in a strangled voice, “What do you want to know about Lizabeth?”

“How well do you know he
r?” she said, finally looking into his face again.

“Why do you want to know?”

“Listen, I promise I’ll make it worth your while for any information you can give me.” After she said those words, she let her small hand slide up to grab his dick and give it a rough squeeze.

“Arghhh...” he groaned, and his head jerked, hitting the back cab window. It took him a moment to regain control of himself.

She continued to rub her hand against the front of his jeans. “Tell me what I want to know and you won’t regret it.”

“Okay, okay, I know her,” he admitted.

“Exactly how well do you know her?” she asked and continued her petting.

  “Very well.”

  “Have you fucked her?”

Daniel’s shocked gaze flew to her face. Her crude words surprised him. What the hell was her interest in the girl? Now he wanted to know what his relationship with Lizabeth had to do with her.

  “Yeah, I fucked her.”

  “Recently?”

“This past weekend,” he admitted, while he let himself enjoy the friction of her hand on his pole.

  “Are you her boyfriend?”

“Well, I guess you could call me that.”

“Good, now tell me about your relationship. Have you met her parents yet?”

“Well, no, I’m not the kind of guy her parents would like, I guess.”

“So they don’t know about you?” she asked, and when she received his nod, she reached up to unbutton his jeans. Without saying a word, she unzipped him and pulled on the waistband of his jeans. Daniel raised his hips to accommodate her.

Daniel’s pole stood straight up. He watched as Ida Mae licked her lips when she saw his size. When she did, he spotted the stud in her tongue. Damn! Now he really wanted to feel that tongue on his dick.

She grabbed his rod in her right fist and scooted over to snuggle into his side. Daniel slid his right arm around her slender shoulders.

“What do you think they would do if they knew?”

Daniel could barely think anymore. “From what she said, they would probably freak.”

“Good, now I need you to give her a call.”

  “A call?”

“Yes, tell her you need to see her.”

  “What? Why?”

“Would you be willing to help me?”

  “Help you do what?”

She slackened her grip on his dick. “I don’t mean her any harm. Someone just wants to get to know her.”

Daniel’s disappointment when she stopped her pumping hand crowded his lust-filled thoughts. He wrapped his hand around her now still hand to encourage her to resume her petting. “Who, who wants to get to know her?”

  “Her father.”

“Her father? But I thought Jonas Horville—”

The woman grimaced at the mention of the name. “Not him. Her real father.”

  “What?”

“It’s too much to explain now.” Daniel couldn’t believe she was talking as if they were having a simple conversation while she was giving him a hand job, steadily pumping his dick, but with only enough force to keep him hard, withholding satisfaction, teasing him. “So will you help me?” Exasperation was creeping into in her tone.

“What will you give me if I help you?” A guy had to ask, didn’t he?

Ida Mae smiled at him as if she understood his motives perfectly. “Well, what do you have in mind for payment?”

“Ten thousand cash and some personal attention from you.” Daniel couldn’t believe he’d just said that.

Ida Mae stilled her hand again, and looked up at him. “Will you go along with everything I ask of you?”

Shit! For ten thousand dollars and a good fuck, hell yeah he would do what she wanted. “Yeah, sure.”

She returned to jerking him off. “Very well, I’ll need you to come with me when we’re done here.”

“Yeah, fine, whatever,” he agreed quickly, and began to pant when she picked up the speed of her pumping hand.

After she received his consent, she lowered her head to take his dick into her mouth. Daniel watched in fascination as the woman with the perfectly made up face and hair pumped his rod with her hot mouth. He gulped but couldn’t tear his gaze away from this high-class slut giving him head. He felt her studded tongue sliding over his penis made slick with her saliva. She was good, he had to give her that. When she had him worked up, she sat up and undid her jacket, shrugging out of it. Next she unbuttoned her frilly blouse, and when she reached the level of her breast, the edges gaped open.

Daniel’s gaze latched on to her exposed breasts. She wore a bustier that pushed her tits upward and out. Oh, crap! Two golden nipple rings pierced the tips. This was one nasty slut! Once she’d exposed herself to him, she grabbed his two hands and brought them to her jugs. She didn’t need to direct him any further. He kneaded and squeezed her tits until she moaned and writhed. He wanted to screw her—bad.

While Daniel enjoyed playing with her tits, Ida Mae returned to pumping his stiff pole.

“I’m coming!” Daniel said with a shout.

Ida slapped his hands away from her tits. She kept jerking him off until he shot his load on her naked breasts. When Daniel subsided against his bench seat, she rubbed his cum against her nipples and tits.

“Mmmm, very good,” she praised him. “You’ll get much more of that kind of attention if you help me. Let’s go get my car, and you can follow me home.”

Daniel pulled on his jeans and as he did them up, he watched her button her blouse over her cum soaked jugs; the wet imprints of her nipples visible as she pulled on her jacket and buttoned it up. She was one hot, nasty piece. He would enjoy screwing her. Daniel would be willing to do what she wanted without the incentive of the money.

Starting his truck and putting it into reverse, he turned it around to head back to Te Cher’s so she could collect her car.

  Chapter 9

Lizabeth reached home around four in the afternoon. The telephone was ringing. Running into the living room, she grabbed the nearest receiver.

“Yes,” she said, panting from the exertion of running to reach the phone before the caller hung up.

  “Lizabeth?” the caller asked.

  “Who is this?”

  “It’s Daniel.”

She straightened, her back rigid when she heard the identity of the caller. “Daniel, why are you calling me here?”

  “I need to see you.”

Lizabeth couldn’t suppress the feeling of uneasiness his tone struck in her heart. “What?”

  “We need to talk.”

“Daniel, I don’t think that’s a good idea.” She relaxed her stiff posture, her voice cajoling as she tried to convince him to her way of thinking.

The acute silence on the other end of the line filled her with dread. “Maybe your dad might like a visit.”

Oh, God! He couldn’t be serious! What had she gotten herself into now? She put a shaking hand on the side table to steady herself. “Are you trying to blackmail me?”

“Now that’s a nasty word,” he said. “I just have someone who wants to meet you.”

“Why are you doing this?” Even she could hear the desperation lacing her tone.

Was that a chuckle she heard? “Lizabeth, it’s not as bad as all that. Meet me in the parking lot at Te Cher’s, and I’ll explain everything.”

What could she do? Would he follow through on his threat to tell her father about their sexual encounter? She couldn’t take a chance. “Fine, I’ll meet you in ten minutes.”

Lizabeth slammed down the phone and rushed out to meet Daniel Morrow. Afraid Nikki would drive up before she left, Lizabeth jumped into her Camaro and drove as fast as she could toward the middle of town.

She saw Daniel, sitting alone in his truck, smoking a cigarette, as she pulled into dirt packed parking lot across the street from Te Cher’s bar. Who did he want her to meet? There was no one in the truck with him. She wouldn’t go any place
with him unless he told her the identity of the person in question.

Lizabeth sat with her hands still gripping the wheel and observed Daniel pulling in a deep drag and blowing the smoke out of his window, the movement of his body arrogantly confident. He’d caught sight of her and watched carefully as she remained in her car, but his expression told her he had no doubt that she would do as he requested. She drug a deep breath of clean air into her lungs and gave a heavy sigh, before pulling her courage around herself like a winter coat and opening her car door.

As Lizabeth approached, Daniel flicked his cigarette butt out the window and leaned over to open the passenger door. She glanced around to see if anyone she knew was watching them. The town streets were deserted, so she climbed up into his truck.

Lizabeth kept her distance from Daniel. “Who do you want me to meet?” She refused to stay here longer than necessary.

“Take it easy, Lizabeth. Just listen to what I have to say. I met a lady today. Her name’s Ida Mae Dugas.”

“Oh, God!” Lizabeth said with a groan. “What did she say to you?”

Why the hell did her biological mother approach Daniel Morrow, instead of just approaching Lizabeth herself? What did she hope to gain?

“She wants you to meet your real father.” Daniel gave her the answer.

So that was it. Did she think Lizabeth would refuse to meet the man? Even Lizabeth didn’t know what her answer would have been. But now she yearned to refuse Daniel’s request. This seemed so seedy and underhanded.

  “No, I don’t think so.”

“Don’t make this harder than it has to be, Lizabeth,” Daniel warned her.

“So she sent you here to convince me to see him?” Her tone was flat as dread seeped insidiously through her body.

Daniel turned until his bent knee lay on the bench seat between them, his right arm stretched out on the back of the seat. Lizabeth looked at him with new eyes. He did look like a rough character. The look in his eyes now seemed dangerous instead of exciting.

“I guess you have a choice. Meet the old man or give me a different payment.”

Lizabeth couldn’t believe this was happening. “What kind of payment?”

Daniel gave her a knowing look. “Not anything you haven’t done before.”
