Monk shook his head. “If they did, they are a serious user of drugs.”
I grabbed my phone and searched for information on Fentora. While I knew a search on the internet wasn’t the best place to get accurate information, I needed to know more.
Five minutes later, my head was swimming with information. “I don’t…” I looked up from my phone at Monk. “I don’t even know what to think.”
One of the girls might have brought Fentora into the club either for them to take—and I grabbed it by accident—or they had brought it into the club to kill me.
I knew which one it was.
For me to grab it by accident was pretty farfetched.
“You okay?” Monk asked.
Was I okay knowing that I had been drugged and someone wanted me dead? No. But I was going to be fine once I figured out who the hell it was and why they wanted me dead.
“I want to go to the club.”
“You sure about that?” Monk asked. “You could take some time off while the guys and I figure out who drugged you,” he suggested.
I shook my head. Whoever did this to me wasn’t going to send me running into hiding. I was known as a badass bitch, and I was going to let whoever did this to me know they had messed with the wrong person. “I’m not running. I’m gonna go to work and act like nothing happened. It’s only a matter of time until they try something else.”
Monk chuckled. “I have the urge to tell you no, but I know you can handle this.”
“And you also know if you tell me no, I’m just going to still do it anyway,” I pointed out.
He nodded and clicked his tongue. “That is also very true. I figured out pretty quickly that I can’t cage you like an injured bird, Mitzy. You’re gonna fly no matter who tells you that you can’t.”
“So, I’m gonna go get ready for the club, and then we can leave in an hour?” I asked.
“If that’s what you want.”
I nodded. “Yeah. I need to face this head-on, Monk.”
“Well, then go get dolled up, babe, and let’s ride.”
“I do not get dolled up, Monk.”
He looked me up and down. “Well, I’m pretty sure you’re not going to wear pink and yellow pajama pants and a flimsy tank top.”
I looked down at my shirt. “This is not flimsy.” I tugged on the straps. “This thing keeps my boobs in so I don’t wake up with a boob over my shoulder and my gut hanging out.”
He tipped his head to the side. “A boob over your shoulder?” he chuckled.
I knew I had painted quite the picture, but it was the truth. I couldn’t tell you how many times I had gone to sleep and woken up with both of my boobs popped out of my shirt. “You’d have to see it to know what I’m talking about.”
Monk splayed his hands out in front of him. “By all means, show me, babe.”
I flipped him off and shook my head. “Nice try. You stay down here and do biker things, and I’m going to go get dolled up.”
“But I thought you weren’t getting dolled up,” Monk teased.
I headed to the stairs and glanced at him over my shoulder. “I can do whatever I want, Monk.”
He winked and pointed his finger. “That we know, Birdie.”
I laughed at the new nickname. “I like Birdie better than babe,” I confessed.
“Noted, Mitzy. You can be my Birdie, and I’ll be your biker.”
That sounded nice. I didn’t want to be someone’s babe.
I was meant to fly free, and that was the way it was going to be, no matter who was in my life.
Monk had been the first person to realize that and give me the space to do it.
Maybe he would stick around, but if he didn’t, I would be fine either way.

Chapter Thirteen
Hell of a ride…
Monk
“Rain is here tonight.”
I grabbed my beer and turned on my stool to rest my back on the bar. “You talk to her?” I asked Six-Gun.
He shook his head. “I haven’t been able to get near her. She’s been on and off stage. I can’t seem to catch her in the in-between.”
“Well, you better talk to her soon because I’m pretty sure once Mitzy fires her, she ain’t gonna tell any of us shit.”
“Hell, she’s doing that tonight?”
I shrugged. “Not really sure, but knowing Mitzy, she isn’t going to sit around on the decision.”
“Maybe you should have her hold off until we figure out where Tank is.”
“You think?”
Six-Gun nodded. “As much as I am more than in agreement to let the rancid pussy go, I think she might have some information we need.”
“Or she could be the one who tried to kill Mitzy.”
Six-Gun tipped his glass to me. “And that, too.”
I spotted Mitzy across the crowded room.
She was standing next to the stage with a clipboard in her hand and one of the girls talking to her. “Who’s that?” I asked.
“One of the new girls. Memphis was talking about her last night.”
“She mention her name?” I had remembered Mitzy hiring a couple of new girls, but I couldn’t remember who they were.
“Memphis,” Six-Gun called. He motioned for her to come over. He nodded to Mitzy and the woman. “Who is standing next to Mitzy?”
“That’s Flo.”
“She a dancer or a waitress?” I usually didn’t take much notice of who was who, but now that we were trying to figure out who would want to hurt Mitzy, I was looking closely at everyone.
“Neither. Mitzy hired her to be house mom.”
“Come again?” Six-Gun asked. “Is Mitzy just making up jobs now?”
Memphis laughed. “No, she’s actually not. A house mom is someone who keeps the dressing room in order, cleans up after the girls, cooks meals sometimes. You know, a house mom.”
“You keep saying that like we know what the hell you are talking about,” I drawled.
Memphis shook her finger at me. “I’m not talking to you. I really thought you were really pissed off at Mitzy.”
I took a drink of my beer. “Serves you right for thinking you could pull a fast one over on me. Don’t try to prank the master, Memphis.”
Memphis rolled her eyes. “We’re gonna get you back, Monk. Raelyn and I are already plotting.”
I nodded to Mitzy. “Well, you can plot all you want, but you better not get Mitzy tangled up with your craziness.”
“Hey,” Memphis protested. “Mitzy is part of the Sisters, so that means she’s loyal to us, not you.”
“Sisters?” I laughed. “Just what in the hell is that?”
Memphis folded her arms over her chest. “You guys get your little club, and we get to be sisters.”
“Hey, are you pestering my waitress?”
I turned and found Mitzy a few feet away with Flo standing next to her. “No more than she is pestering me,” I countered.
“I find that hard to believe,” Mitzy laughed. She motioned to Flo. “I want you to meet Flo. She’s going to be the house mom. Take care of the girls and the dressing room for me.”
“So, she’s doing your job for you?” Six-Gun jested.
Mitzy flipped him off. “Hardly. With Flo taking care of the dressing room, I can focus more on the floor and paperwork.” Mitzy batted her eyes at Six-Gun. “I’d like to see you do half the work I do.”
“Oh,” Memphis crowed. “I’m pretty sure Mitzy would run circles around you, honey. She’s always all over while she’s on the way to do ten things.”
Six-Gun grumbled. “Yeah, yeah, whatever.”
Mitzy cleared her throat. “Anyway, this is Flo.”
“You’re gonna be straightening G-strings and picking up titty tassels?” I asked.
“Monk,” Memphis gasped.
Six-Gun choked on his beer and bent over coughing.
“And that is your welcome to Skinz from the president of the Royal Bastards,” Mitzy sassed.
/>
“Acting president,” I corrected. “As soon as Barracuda gets his ass back here, I am back to being VP.”
“Who knows,” Six-Gun chuckled. “You’re doing such a bang-up job that maybe we’ll just keep you in charge.”
I finished my beer and set it on the bar behind me. “Not fucking happening. I want the perks of being in the club without actually having to take the responsibility for any of it.” That reminded me I needed to talk to Mitzy and see if she could think of anywhere Barracuda could have went since the last time we had talked to her. A few months back Jinx had asked her about Barracuda, but she couldn’t think of where he could have gone.
“You think maybe you could have this conversation not in front of the new girl?” Mitzy asked. “I figured you should know who she was.”
I held out my hand to Flo. “Good to meet you. I’m sure you’ll do amazing.” I looked at Mitzy. “Is that better?” I drawled.
She threw up her hand in the air. “I don’t know why I try. Let’s go back to the dressing room, Flo.”
She moved to turn away, but I caught her arm. “We gotta talk when you’re done with Flo. We need to pause on the staffing changes we talked about before.”
She tipped her head to the side. “Is that so?”
I nodded. “I’ll explain more later. Come find me when you can talk alone.”
She rolled her eyes but nodded. “You got it, biker.”
She flounced away with Flo and disappeared into the back area of the club.
“You two seem to be getting along pretty well,” Memphis remarked.
“Don’t you have drinks you need to be delivering right now?” I asked
Memphis rolled her eyes. “You guys and your feelings. Just admit you like her and get on with it.”
Six-Gun grabbed her around the waist and pulled her in for a kiss. “I like you, so can we get on with it?”
Memphis rolled her eyes but pressed a kiss to his lips. “Check with me after work. My boss is a slave driver.” She winked and headed to her section.
“Still hard to believe she’s mine,” Six-Gun mused.
I grunted and pulled out a cigarette.
“You wanna go talk to Rain?” I asked. I didn’t want to talk about this mushy shit with Six-Gun.
“Not really, but I figure we better, right?”
I nodded and looked around the club. “You see her?”
Six-Gun shook his head. “I don’t see her out here, so she has to be back in the dressing room.”
“Let’s go.” We made our way down to the end of the bar and stepped into the hallway that led to the dressing room. “The new cameras should be here in a few days. We’ll need to hook them up to our existing system and make sure we get one put in Mitzy’s office.”
Two girls with handfuls of money skirted around us and ducked into the dressing room. The door swung open, and Rain stepped out.
“That couldn’t have been better timing,” Six-Gun grunted.
“Rain,” I called.
Rain looked up and pasted a fake smile on her lips. “If it isn’t the new president of the Royal Bastards calling my name.”
Jesus. “You think we can talk for a minute?” I asked.
Rain fanned her face with her hand. “Why, of course. Maybe outside?” she suggested. “I’m a little warm from my last set.”
I nodded and followed her down the hallway past Mitzy’s office and out the back door. It was probably just as warm outside, but if that was what she wanted, whatever.
Rain stepped to the side of the building and pulled her see-through robe around her body. “What can I help you two with?” Her voice was breathy, and she batted her eyes so much it looked like she had something she was trying to get out of them.
“We were just wondering if you had seen Tank lately?” I asked.
“Now do I look like that man’s keeper? He told me he didn’t want me anymore.” Rain rolled her eyes. “As if he was going to find someone better than me.”
A rat in the gutter was better than Rain, in my opinion. “We found out you were probably the last one to have seen him a few days ago.”
“You lost another member of your club, Monk? That’s not being a good prez at all.” She reached out and laid her hand on my cut.
I stepped back and let her hand fall to her side. “When was the last time you saw Tank?” I asked again. I wasn’t up for Rain’s slutty games. Especially not when she basically insulted me.
“A few days ago. He grabbed all of his stuff, and he took off.” Rain snapped the gum in her mouth. “I haven’t talked to him since.”
I watched her closely as she held the gum between her front teeth and pulled it out ‘til it was a long string from her mouth to fingertips. How and the fuck did Tank and Rebel find this chick appealing? Maybe I wasn’t the type she appealed to.
“Did he say where he was going when he left?” Six-Gun asked.
Rain shoved the gum back in her mouth. “Said he had to take a few days to himself.”
I glanced at Six-Gun. That was a load of shit. If that was what Tank was doing, he would have at least let of us know he was taking off.
“We went to your place yesterday, but you weren’t home.”
Rain smiled seductively. At least, it was probably seductive to someone who wasn’t Six-Gun or me. “Your little waitress not doing it for you already?” she purred at Six-Gun. “I know how you club guys like it.” She reached out and trailed her fingers down Six-Gun’s chest.
He knocked her hand away and stepped back. “I’m not interested in what you’re selling, Rain. We just want to know where Tank is.”
Rain scoffed. “Your loss. I’m sure you’ll come crawling to me in a couple of months. Those sweet, broken girls never work out in the end.”
Yeah, this bitch was getting fired once we found Tank, and then I would make sure she never got a job in all of California again.
Six-Gun took a deep breath. “It’s a fucking miracle you make a dime with that venom tongue of yours, Rain. Say one more thing about Memphis, and you’re going to miss your next couple of sets.”
Rain glared at Six-Gun. “Are we done here?” she spat.
I stepped to the side and opened the back door. “Get lost.”
She sashayed back into the club and slammed the door behind her.
“You still think we need to keep her around until we find Tank?” I asked Six-Gun.
He growled, pulled out a cigarette, and offered one to me. “How in the fucking hell did Tank and Rebel fight over that piece of bitch?”
“Piece of bitch?” I laughed. “That’s a new one.” I grabbed a cigarette and stuck it in my mouth. He offered me a light, and I inhaled deep.
He lit his cigarette and took a long drag. “Calling her a piece of shit is too nice.” He exhaled and blew out a plume of smoke. “How about a piece of cunt? Rancid cunt?”
“You think she’s telling the truth about Tank?”
Six-Gun shook his head. “No. What about you?”
“Nope. I think she knows exactly where Tank is. She fought for him, and then she’s going to stand there and tell me she just let him drive away.” I chuckled. “Not a fucking chance.”
“What are we going to do about it?”
I glanced back at the club. “Get Rebel, and tell him to follow her. Everywhere she fucking goes, I want to know about it. She’s more than likely going to lead us right to Tank.”
Six-Gun nodded. “I think he’s either in her fucking house or wherever she was when we went to her house.”
“So then, we need to get in her house.” I thought the same thing. It was too much of a fucking coincidence that Rain was the last to have seen or talked to Tank.
“Not sure how we are going to do that with her nosy as fuck neighbor.” Six-Gun took one last drag off his cigarette and dropped it on the ground. He stomped it out with his boot.
“Well, we’re not gonna be knocking on the door and announcing to the whole neighborhood that we’re there,
” I smirked and finished my cigarette. “It seemed like Rain was all for messing with some more Royal Bastards, so I don’t think she’ll mind if we take a tour of her house when she’s at work.”
Six-Gun bumped his fist against mine. “Right on, brother. Ain’t nothing wrong with us just doing a little walk-through, right?”
“Nothing wrong with it at all.”
Six-Gun opened the door. “I’m gonna go find my lady. You good out here?”
I nodded. “I’m gonna find Mitzy and talk to her about Rain. I’m also gonna talk to her about Barracuda again. We are out of ideas of where he could be, so maybe something has jogged her memory since.”
“So, you’re gonna find your lady, too,” he smirked.
I flipped him off. “Go find Memphis and ask her if you can have your balls back for a little bit.”
Six-Gun let out a bark of laughter. “Pretty sure Mitzy is about to have yours, brother.” The door closed behind him, and I shook my head.
God knows what was about to happen between Mitzy and me, but I knew whatever it was, it was gonna be one hell of a ride.

Chapter Fourteen
Power of the pussy…
Monk
“I thought you were going to come find me when you were free?”
Mitzy looked up from the stack of papers on her desk. “And I thought if you needed me, you could come find me.”
I shook my head—typical Mitzy. I closed the door behind me and sat down on the chair in front of her desk.
Mitzy sat back in her chair and smiled. “From what Rain is spreading around, she gave you and Six-Gun dueling blowjobs out by the dumpster.”
“Is that what she’s saying?” I chuckled.
Mitzy shrugged. “She made it sound much more romantic than that, but I know how to read between the lines.” She leaned forward. “I also saw you three headed out the back door.”
“And you believe her?”
Mitzy shrugged. “Hardly. I know Six-Gun would shoot himself in the foot before he touched a woman that wasn’t Memphis.”
“And what about me?” I drawled.
