When they made it back home, Samantha told a waiting Eugene everything that had gone on. He was livid, but on the same note, he understood the secrecy they had kept. Cara flew back home two days later, leaving Eugene behind to stay with his new mate and to settle into his newfound life.

Art and his brood also returned home with a smitten Quinn reluctant to leave. He would never admit it, but Anissa had captured and captivated him. Unfortunately for him, Anissa and Josh were as solid and happy a pair as they come.

Aunt Di and Uncle Jed had also returned home, which meant Kaya had to return also. She’d grown used to Kenneth sleeping beside her and knew she’d miss it.

The following Saturday night, Kenneth and Kaya sat under the huge maple in the pasture from the night they’d first shared their secrets. That night, when everything was new and fresh, felt as if it had happened a lifetime ago. So much had happened since then. As Kaya reflected on it all, she wanted to believe that with things finally resolved, it could only get better from there on out.

But deep down, she knew this was just the beginning. She would tell the rest what she had learned in time, but for now, they could return to being just normal teenagers getting ready for the upcoming Snowball Dance. The wind had a cold bite to it, but their fur coats and shared body heat kept them warm and protected. For now, they could rest easy.
