  Perspective Shift

  Perspective is everything...

  Tensions running high...

  But love...

  Well, it speaks volumes.

Before Hunter met Amelia there was Luke and Katrina.

It only took one look and Luke Kirkland was sunk.

  Katrina is perfect.

  Almost...

As tensions are growing between the werewolf army and the shape shifters Luke and Katrina find themselves falling in love. A love that can’t get out to Luke’s commander.

Luke is a werewolf. Katrina is a shape shifter.

Their worlds aren’t supposed to mix, but maybe together they can accomplish a perspective shift.

He was Luke Kirkland, an officer in the Werewolf Army. His life-long best friend was Hunter Jackson, Captain Hunter Jackson, son of the Commander.

“Hey dude,” Hunter said entering the apartment they shared on base.

“Hey, any luck with the Commander?” Luke asked flatly. Hunter shrugged and shook his head.

“Is there ever any luck with him?” Hunter asked back. Luke just shook his head. “Guess what, though? We’re both up for a promotion.” Luke rolled his eyes. That was just great. A few months ago a promotion would’ve sounded awesome, but both Luke and Hunter were afraid that the Commander was slowly losing his grip with reality.

  “So…?” Luke asked.

“No change, he’s convinced he’s going to find something to link the shape shifter community to my mother’s death. Really don’t want to go to war with them, because he wants to blame someone for his own fucking stupidity!” Hunter hissed.

“I sure as fuck don’t either,” Luke snapped. “You have to get through to him,” Luke pressed.

“No one gets through to him, Luke.” Hunter huffed. “Where are you off to? You look like you’re going somewhere.” Well he finally noticed.

“Ummm…nowhere,” Luke answered running his hand through his hair.

“Shit, man, you’re going back over across the line.” Hunter stated, he knew Luke, so questions weren’t something they had to use in situations like this.

“Look, I know you don’t get, but she’s gorgeous I have to introduce myself.” Hunter sighed. “Don’t, man, come on, tell me you have my back?” Luke wasn’t above begging his best friend.

“Always, man, but be careful things will get worse before they get better I fear.” Luke nodded because Hunter was probably right.

“I’ll be careful, wish me luck.” He smirked before heading out the door.

He was back, Luke Kirkland, officer in the Werewolf Army was back. He had been coming to the diner she managed all week long and he always stared at her when she was in the room.

“He’s cute.” A woman sitting at the counter said tossing a look Luke’s way.

“He is, but he’s a member of the Werewolf Army, a high ranking member.” Katrina sighed. Luke was attractive but no way in hell could she go there.

“That shouldn’t matter,” the woman tossed back.

“Except it does, the leader of the army would flip his shit if he found one of his officers dating a shape shifter.” Katrina deadpanned looking back over the woman’s shoulder meeting Luke’s eyes. She was screwed, because she knew she’d never be able to resist him.

“You’re probably right; it’s why my husband tells no one about us.” Katrina’s eyes snapped to the woman. Did she just admit to being involved with a werewolf? “I’m Eryn, if you ever need to talk here’s my number, but don’t throw that away, sweetie.” She left money on the counter to cover her bill, and just left. Katrina stood there trying to process everything. Luke’s eyes never wavered from hers. Yes, she was screwed. In fact, the moment Luke walked into the diner earlier this week she was sunk, it only took one look.

The woman who was at the counter had just left. It was time for him to make his move. He strolled up to the counter more nervous than he had ever been. “Hi, I’m Luke.” Her head snapped down and locked down on the counter.

“Luke Kirkland, I know who you are,” she whispered. Okay, so she knew his full name, that was either a good thing or a really, really bad thing.

“Well, I’m at a disadvantage then.” He smirked, she looked up and smiled.

“Katrina Moore.” Her voice was smooth and Luke sunk even further.

“Well, Katrina Moore, I’ve been coming here all week to see you, how about a date?” He knew he was being cocky, but the truth was, he needed something with substance the last relationship he had was with Melissa Templeton and what was really shitty about that was she was dating Hunter at the time.

‘A knock came to the apartment door. He was alone tonight, because Hunter had gone off to his secret spot. He opened the door surprised to see Hunter’ girlfriend Melissa there, that is if that was what you wanted to call her. She was sleeping with half the unit. Hunter wasn’t blind to it, but turning her loose also meant disappointing the Commander. “Hunter isn’t here, Melissa.” Luke snapped starting to close the door.

She stopped him though, “If I came here to see you?” She asked licking her lips.

“Melissa, go to hell.” Luke hissed.

“Oh come on, Luke, it could be fun. You said yourself Hunter’s not home.” Luke rolled eyes, but let her in.

Luke shut the door, “So Luke, why are you all by yourself?” Luke rolled his eyes at her question.

“Why did Hunter go out on a Saturday night without you?” Luke threw his own back to her crossing his arms finally

She shrugged, “I can do what I please. Hunter won’t get rid of me. He can’t take another disappointment check mark in daddy’s eyes.” She purred running her nails along his arms. He flinched slightly, but he allowed her to keep touching him.

“Melissa…” He tried to warn as her mouth closed in on his.

“Lighten up, Luke, Hunter won’t care,” she muttered seductively before planting her red cherry lips on his.

Luke was powerless to stop her. He kissed her back pushing his tongue into her mouth. She reciprocated with her own tongue and soon Luke was pushing her to the couch. His hands were fisting at her clothes. Parting their mouth he stripped her in record time. “You want this?” He panted as he pulled off his pants and boxers. She responded by licking her lips and Luke’s cock stirred to life. He pulled a condom out of his jeans.

  “I’m clean, baby,” she purred.

“Sure you are, Melissa.” He tossed at her climbing on top of her and sliding inside. He fucked her quick, but he knew Melissa was that kind of girl. As he finished his quickie the door swung open. “Fucking Shit!” he muttered.

“Finally landed Luke, Melissa, good for you. Get the fuck out.” Hunter snapped from the doorway. Both Melissa and Luke tossed on their clothes.

“Later, Luke. I’ll see you tomorrow. baby. Dinner with your dad, right?” Hunter rolled his eyes at her purred words. She exited the apartment, like the snake she was.

“Sorry, man.” Hunter just shook him off.

“Don’t fucking care, want to get rid of her sorry manipulative ass anyways.” Hunter spoke to him walking towards his bedroom.

Shit! Messing with Hunter’s girl whether or not Hunter wanted her or not was the…shit!’

“Hey, Kirkland.” Her voice brought him back to the present. His eyes blinked a few times focusing back on her. She laughed, “Wow, you zoned out. If you want to hang out I’m done here. We can go back to my place and talk. Have some coffee, maybe?” She shrugged.

“That sounds great, love.” Her eyes widened with his words and while he should’ve been nervous, that wo
rd rolled of his tongue so quickly he wasn’t. She would be his love, his great love, his forever love. Katrina Moore was perfection.

Entering her apartment, she really had no clue what she was doing bringing Luke Kirkland here, but she did want to know what had caused him to zone out at the diner.

“Nice place,” he said. He was nervous as well, the tone in his voice no longer the confident Werewolf Army.

“Coffee?” she asked making her way to her kitchen.

“Coffee would be great, love,” he said smiling and walking towards her kitchen counter. It was the second time he had called her love and if she was honest with herself, she liked it, but she was afraid this was a setup. He had spaced out while they were talking at the diner and that bothered her greatly.

“So…” She gulped. “You got a little lost at the diner what was going through your head?” she asked.

She heard him swallow her back to him as she readied the coffee.

“I was thinking about being an ass and not deserving the beautiful girl I was standing in front of.” Her eyes widened and she slowly turned around.

“That’s all I’m getting?” she questioned pointedly.

He ran his hand through his hair. “Shit,” he muttered and she just stared. “I was an asshole, my best friend wasn’t home and I did something really fucking stupid.” He paused and took a breath. Katrina stood frozen and waited. “Three weeks ago I slept with someone by the name of Melissa, my friend, Hunter’s girlfriend.” Katrina gasped.

“Oh my God!” She choked out.

“It isn’t like that, Hunter wants to kick her to the curb but can’t, because the Commander would be beyond disappointed. For some reason he loves the manipulative bitch.” His words harsh, but she couldn’t get over the fact that he was admitting to sleeping with his best friend’s girlfriend. Not to mention that his best friend was the Hunter Jackson, son of the Commander.

“Oh my God! This is a mistake, you should go.” She panicked. He came around her counter and grabbed her wrist. She tried to pull away and protest, but she couldn’t she could shift however her nerves were shot making that impossible. She wasn’t Amelia. Damn, that girl had more control than anyone and she didn’t even know how rare that was. She didn’t even know how powerful she was.

“Nothing about this is a mistake. Please Katrina; please, love, let me prove it to you.” His words were soft and she found herself staring at his mouth. He must have seen where her eyes were, because in a moment his mouth descended on hers. His kiss was slow and unhurried and he didn’t push things further. He just kissed her tenderly.

Keila Sommer is a little different. Well actually a lot different. She is a Unicorn. In the city of Bison, South Dakota she feels alone with her secret until Woodrow Drake rolls into town. To Keila, it feels like the stars align, because the day she meets him is her twenty second birthday.

Woodrow Drake is looking for a place to settle down. He closes his eyes and points to a map. His finger lands on Bison, South Dakota and he doesn’t blink an eye he just takes off. The first person he meets is Keila Sommer and she’s drop dead gorgeous. Woodrow is attracted to her, but also quiet. They quickly become friends and although he wants more, he’s sure she doesn’t. When he returns to Bison after leaving for a family emergency every cowboy in town is lined up at Keila’s door and she’s going on many dates.

Keila wants Woodrow but he only seems to want a friendship, so she entertains the guys who are only interested in her for her secret. A secret no one was supposed to know about. A secret she wants to hide from Woodrow.

Can Keila and Woodrow find their way to each other before she just settles for the average alpha cowboy? When her secret comes out will Woodrow stick around? Only time will tell how things will go down in the west.

Keila Sommer was lying in bed. Today was her twenty second birthday. She was happy, but at the same time she dreaded the day. Six years ago on her sixteenth birthday her life changed forever.

“Keila!” Coralee shouted from outside her bedroom window. Keila shot up in bed. Today was the day, she was finally sixteen. She’d be driving by the weekend and most importantly, she could now date. She closed her eyes again. Clifton Wright, her long time crush had promised her a proper date when she turned sixteen she suddenly couldn’t wait to get to school.

Clifton was seventeen and sexy as hell. He was also the typical cowboy in Bison and never had a shortage of girls to take out, but none of that mattered to Keila.

She raced through her morning routine and rushed out to Coralee. “I’m sixteen!” She shouted embracing her best friend.

Coralee hugged her back before pulling away. “So today is the day?” She questioned on a wink.

“I know, I can’t wait. I really like him.” Keila answered as
she climbed into Coralee’s car.

Keila could barely sit still on the way to school, and as if on cue, Clifton Wright was standing in the grass in front of Coralee’s parking spot. The car stopped and Keila slowly climbed out, not wanting to show her excitement for the moment that was about to happen. “Mornin’ Clifton.” She smiled at him.

“Good mornin’, darlin’ I’ll pick you up at seven.” He replied to her greeting and then just walked away. Well it wasn’t how she pictured being asked out, but she didn’t care either. She had a date with Clifton Wright and that was all that mattered. She couldn’t imagine a better birthday present.

She sighed thinking about that night again. “Some night that was, Keila” She said to herself as she crawled out of bed.

  “Keila!” Her mom called.

“Coming, mama,” she replied, quickly dressing.

“Keila, I know it’s your birthday, but…” Keila sighed as she walked down the stairs towards her mom.

“It’s okay, mama. What do you need?” Keila didn’t mind helping her mom out.

“I hired a new ranch hand. He should be arriving soon. I was hoping you could help him get settled, show him around.” Keila sighed. Great, a guy. She had ignored all date requests since that night.

“Keila, doll, didn’t you have a date?” Her mom asked as she was heading for the back door. It was eight thirty. She knew Clifton wasn’t coming. His excuses didn’t matter either. He stood her up, that was all she cared about.

“Guess he changed his mind,” Keila whispered as she exited the house heading for the creek that was on the edge of their property. When she reached the creek she was crying and she was angry, she was just everything. It hurt so badly. She really liked Clifton and he just stood her up. No explanation, no nothing.
