  Warriorville 3: Constructing Love

[Siren Lovextreme Forever: Multiple Partners, Menage, Contemporary, Romantic Suspense, Military, MFMMMM, HEA]

Madeline Lamort is a strong, independent woman. A daughter of a Marine, and sister to five Marines. She's well trained in self-defense and knows how to shoot a gun. What she wasn't prepared for was being betrayed by the man she loved and fighting to maintain her life as he tried to destroy it.

She's fought hard, licked her wounds and moved on. The last thing she expects her first few days in a new town is to become the center of the sheriff's attention while gaining his brothers' interests as well. Five retired Marines? She must be losing her mind.

Constructing this new development isn't so cut and dry, neither is falling in love with five men who are quite intimidating. But as danger lingers, and suspects get exposed, Madeline protects her boss as well as her new lovers and the choice costs her. Abducted, beaten and told she will die either way for talking to the Feds, Madeline fights until the end, just as a good soldier always does.

Using all of their resources, her lovers, her father, brothers, and fellow Warriors of Warriorville, move heaven and earth to get to her in time.

  ABOUT THE AUTHOR

People seem to be more interested in my name than where I get my ideas for my stories from. So, I might as well share the story behind my name with all my readers.

My momma was born and raised in New Orleans. At the age of twenty, she met and fell in love with an Irishman named Patrick Riley Dwyer. Needless to say, the family was a bit taken aback by this as they hoped she would marry a family friend. It was a modern day arranged marriage kind of thing and my momma downright refused.

Being that my momma’s families were descendants of the original English-speaking Southerners, they wanted the family blood line to stay pure. They were wealthy and my father’s family was poor.

Despite attempts by my grandpapa to make Patrick leave and destroy the love between them, my parents married. They recently celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary.

I am one of six children born to Patrick and Lynn Dwyer. I am a combination of both Irish and a true Southern belle. With a name like Dixie Lynn Dwyer it’s no wonder why people are curious about my name.

Just as my parents had a love story of their own, I grew up intrigued by the lifestyles of others. My imagination as well as my need to stray from the straight and narrow made me into the woman I am today.

  Prologue

“ You have got to be kidding me, Dad. Seriously? I thought you were retired for good,” Madeline Lamort asked her father over the phone as she unpacked some more boxes in her new condo.

“Maddy, don’t be angry. You know I live for this and I hate being out of the loop. The Corp is family, and Guido needs some help. Plus, your brothers are pitching in, too.”

“Great, and where will this adventure be taking all of you this time? I mean, I don’t need this worry right now, Daddy. I have so much going on with this move to Warriorville, the new construction and operations, and dealing with the investors.”

“Calm down. You are amazing at what you do, and you are the daughter and sister to Marines.”

She exhaled. Boy was she. Five older brothers and a crazy dad, who in his seventies was still ready to rush into battle on the front lines.

“How does Mom feel about this?”

“Mom? She’s fine. She has her volunteer work keeping her busy and she’s taking a vacation, women only cruise to the Dominican Republic and some other places. She’ll be gone for two weeks and I’ll be back before that. Now, did you contact Cortland? He is more than willing to help you adjust to the new surroundings and even contact some of his friends around there.”

“God, no I did not contact Cortland. I can handle things fine like always.”

“Cortland is a good man, Maddy. He adores you.”

“He wants me in his bed like a trophy wife. To quit working and to let him command and control me. No, thank you.”

“You’re a gorgeous young woman, and I know that Bentley broke your heart and all, but not all men are like that. Cortland is a commander in the Marines. He’s tough and he likes discipline.”

“Daddy, you like him so much you sleep with him.”

“Maddy Marie Lamorte,” he scolded, and she chuckled.

He raised his voice and exhaled. “Damn it. What the hell did your mother and I create?”

“An independent woman who is more than capable of handling life on my own. I don’t need to spread my legs unless I’m compelled. You’ve all taught me how to fight, to defend myself, how to shoot guns, and strategically attack any obstacles before me. I certainly don’t need some commanding, demanding, egotistical jarhead like Cortland in my life trying to change all that.”

“He wouldn’t be changing anything about you. You’re perfect.”

If I’m so perfect, then why did Bentley cheat on me?

“You’re biased. Now stop this nonsense talk and tell me about this mission and whether or not it’s dangerous for you and my brothers.”

“Not dangerous, just involves a bit of strategic operations.”

“Oh brother. Please be careful and call me when you’re back.”

“No worries, Maddy, and remember if anything goes wrong or you need anything, call Cortland.”

“Not going to happen. Love you, Daddy, and be safe. Tell my brothers, too.”

“Love you too, baby girl.” He ended the call and she immediately texted her brothers in a group chat.

Be safe. Love you guys. Take care of Dad.

Of course, she got I love you back from the five of them and also some teasing about them watching over Dad. Her father was as tough as they came, and her brothers weren’t far behind him in personalities and capabilities. Growing up with all of them wasn’t easy, but she lov
ed them all so very much. In fact, in a few weeks when they did return, and if she had four days to spare, she would go visit them before her brothers took off on other assignments.

She walked over to the mirror and looked at herself. Still, two years later and she wondered why Bentley cheated on her. She catered to him, gave up a pretty awesome business opportunity for him, although working for Broaden Young, a multimillionaire real estate guru was like hitting the jackpot of jobs. It couldn’t have come at a better time in her life. Bentley had cheated on her, and then struck her. She broke his nose, so he threatened to sue her for assault, and she threatened to inform certain clients of his about how Bentley was skimming off the top of deals he’d made with them. That shut the little prick up fast. She still felt hurt, and kind of not good enough inside. It stemmed from his verbal abuse, the demands he made about how she should dress, and how she shouldn’t speak her mind so much, or add to conversation with his business associates and friends even though she was knowledgeable on the subjects and very bright.

She looked at herself in the mirror again. The stylish eyeglasses she wore made her look sophisticated and astute, not nerdy and unattractive as Bentley had told her. He’d wanted her to get contacts. She hated them, they irritated her eyes and she would blink constantly. She liked her look. Her long brown and golden hair color, the deep sage green of her eyes that were enhanced by the eyeglasses she wore, and thick eyelashes, full lips, and a huge bust. If she dressed like Bentley wanted her to, she would look like some bimbo, not sexy and classy.

She exhaled and turned sideways as she lifted the t-shirt she wore. It was designer, but on sale. She wasn’t stupid with her money despite having plenty. She had a killer body. She was well disciplined in her workout routine that really helped to eliminate any stresses she had. In fact, she wondered where the delivery guys were. She had ordered everything she needed for the home gym and they should be here any minute. Madeline looked around her new home. It was upscale, had three bedrooms, one of which would be her workout room that was on the same side as the master bedroom and faced a manmade lake and walking trail.

The grounds and landscaping were stunning, with waterfalls and koi ponds. An associate of Braden’s owned the place and he was investing in the new property as well. She had a lot of work ahead of her, but she was up for the challenge and looking forward to the end result. In the next few days she might check out the town, that cool bar restaurant, Mulligan’s, along with Carissa Barnes, and some of her friends who were real estate agents and working on promoting the new condominium and townhomes being built.

This week they were setting up the models in a showroom dedicated to showcasing the project. It would give potential buyers the opportunity to see what the property had to offer. Madeline would work part of the day there and then on site where construction was. She didn’t need to work every day, but when she was in charge of a project, she gave a hundred percent. She would set up dinner meetings with both investors and stockbrokers, or whomever else was needed, since Broaden couldn’t be bothered. He trusted her and it wasn’t that he didn’t care, he knew she was very smart when it came to this type of work and also representing his company. There was no real job title for what her position entailed, she just did whatever was necessary to make the deals go smoothly and bring in the monetary value they should bring.

Madeline ran her fingers through her hair and then got back to unpacking. She was ready for this new phase of her life. Happy to put the heartache and pain of the past behind her finally and to focus on work and her professional career. She was making six figures, had her investment portfolio booming, and could retire whenever she felt like it. Life was just about perfect. As she thought that and smiled, she looked around the place. There was a lot to be proud of, so why did she feel like something was missing? Like life wasn’t fulfilled or quite perfect? She knew the answer. Knew her hopes and dreams of being married, starting a family and having what her parents had, and even what her friends and college roommates had, was exactly what she wanted. Apparently, that wasn’t in the stars for her. Not after Bentley and what he did. Having a trust broken like that, being treated so badly and even struck physically after all she gave wasn’t so easily forgotten. It still hurt to think about how close she came to marrying him, and about the screwed up marriage and life she would have had. An open relationship? She snorted. “Asshole,” she said as she remembered his discussion with her. His desire to still screw her when he wanted to, and how he could make her or break her. Didn’t happen, jerk, because it was me who could have broken you and your career.

She exhaled and shook her head. “Stop thinking about him. He’s over and gone and he can’t hurt me ever again.”

As she pulled out some more dishes and glasses then placed them into the cabinets, she couldn’t help but think about the couple of other guys she forced herself to date in between the break up with Bentley and now. Nothing physical. No sex, she wasn’t compelled, and they were the same. Wealthy men who’d wanted a trophy wife, or whore on their arm with a fabulous body. Where were all the good men at? Why couldn’t she find a man who would put her first? Were there any out there? Men who would appreciate her intelligence, her accomplishments, and perhaps be impressed by her toughness?

She released a long sigh. “Maybe I just need sex. A quick fix to get the lonely feeling out of my system?” she said aloud.

“Great, talking to myself out loud about sex. What’s next? Talking to my vibrator as I use it to find some relief? Grrr.” She walked back over to the box, stomped on it, then folded it up and placed it with the others to carry down to the recycling bin. She couldn’t hide in the condo and avoid meeting people and checking out the town any longer. Maybe she would venture out today a little? Then tomorrow night she could meet up with Carissa after work and check out Mulligan’s. A jarhead bar definitely, and a place soldiers hung out. She could handle that, even though that was the kind of bar she’d avoided for years. She walked toward the last few boxes and grabbed another one. Maybe a quick drive to town to check out the café, see the sights, and then do a little food shopping for the week? Warriorville was going to be her new home for at least a year, maybe longer. Might as well get to know the people, and also learn who to avoid. She chuckled. Small towns and small ways. God, she was so out of her element from the city and traveling to New York— but hey, she’d wanted a change, and Broaden Young was paying top dollar. Life was definitely a bowl of cherries right now, so why not dig in?

  Chapter 1

“Why are the uncles in such a state? They got the project. They’ve subcontracted plenty of workers out?” Jedda Lantern asked his brother, Hunter, as they made sure the loads of material were delivered to the right location on the construction site.

“Since the uncles expanded the business throughout Texas, they have been sought out by some pretty well-known real estate investors, and this guy Broaden Young is fucking huge. One of his representatives will be on site every day for several hours making sure that things are in order. Plus, there’s a display and showcase building with real estate agents on site to sell the units. I heard it’s very professional, upscale and impressive looking. Have you seen it yet?” Hunter asked him.

“No, I haven’t had the chance and wasn’t sure I wanted to. Is that where this representative will be working from?” Jedda asked.

“I don’t know. I don’t ask those questions. Our jobs are pretty limited here,” Hunter replied.

“We all set, Jedda?” the driver asked him.

“Yeah, Luke, we’re all good. You can go to phase one. Hagan is there,” Hunter said to him.
