He pulled her to him. “Because you tie them better than any valet and are so distractible.” He leaned in and kissed her. She responded eagerly, losing herself in his embrace for a moment. She pulled away and gently caressed her husband’s face, so in love with him that it sometimes hurt. She marveled, as she so often did, that she was here. Less than a year before, she faced a dismal future, a life lived alone with a charming monster who she knew would one day kill her in a fury.
Now, she rubbed her hand over her slightly swollen abdomen and smiled serenely at her husband, who had discarded his fifth cravat and was attempting the sixth. “Leave it off, dear. We are still too early for dinner, don’t you think?”

Theodora was stunningly happy for the second time in her life, but this time, she knew she would remain so forever.
A word about the author...
Clevelanders are tough, a bit cynical, and just a little crazy, and Marin McGinnis is no exception. When she’s not chasing after big dogs or watching tweens skate around hockey rinks, she is immersing herself in romantic tales of years gone by. She lives in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, with her husband and son.
