Awakened Desires Page 8

by Duvall, K. Lynne

"Are you going to be late?" he asked.

No, she had still had fifteen minutes to be there.

"Then give me five minutes." Nothing wrong with five minutes. A lot could be done in five minutes. He could get very warm.

No, she had to be there when her trainees came back. Plus, she would still have to put her clothes back on, get to the elevator, and walk down a long hallway and that would take away more time.

But somehow he had already started to stroke, and damn the time, he told her.

And then she started to moan. And she started to groan. And she began to cry out. And he kissed her so no one would hear her. Eleven inches was more than what most women could take and she took it so…Damn...LOUD.

And his hips kept thrusting over and over and so were hers. And their bodies were getting hotter and hotter. And the kiss didn't stop her from shouting. Actually, he had to abandon the kiss because he found himself shouting out hoarsely himself because he believed himself dying. Nothing else to live for when you've achieved the ultimate in ecstasy, was there? And then they collapsed on the top of the desk and damn, this was a very, extremely, extraordinarily, good idea. And it brought them to this moment.

"You'll have lunch with me tomorrow."

"Of course, I will. But this can't be an everyday thing." She kissed his head. "I told you we shouldn't flaunt ourselves in front of other people."

"I told you that you're hard to resist."

Malcolm pulled out of her body and some of his cum leaked a little. He traced designs on her inner thigh.

"We'll be the only ones who know. We won't be in front of other people. We'll be here."

"I don't know," she replied not sounding convinced. Karyn slid off his desk to find her clothes. "Someone would be bound to notice if I came in here everyday. I don't want rumors about me flying around at work."

Karyn had seen it many times before. Two people hook up at work. Other people start to notice. The man gets praise while the woman is talked about like dirt. She was pushing her limits getting involved with him at all and had no interest in going through something like that if she could help it.

Once she had her clothes on, she asked him how she looked.

"Beautiful. You're always so beautiful, lalid."

She smiled at him. "Thank you. Now tell me, what does 'lalid' mean anyway?"

He smiled while he got his own clothes and put them back on. "I don't think I'll tell you. Not until you agree that you'll come here every day."

  "Are you kidding me?"

He laughed. Karyn thought if he wasn't so fine and of course, so talented at what he did, she probably would've have been annoyed with him. She'd let him have his fun for now, she thought, as she looked at her watch.

She was ten minutes late for her class.

"I have to go, Malcolm," she hurried. "El niisch niat ol."

Malcolm stood still. "What did you say?"

"I said I'll see you tonight," she said. She kissed him quickly before she rushed out the door.

  That's not what she said.

  She had spoken Vamrhys.

How in the hell did she..? And then he realized that it had been transference. His thoughts, and by extension, his language impressed on her mind.

It shouldn't have happened this quickly, especially not with a human mate. He remembered when Veronique's mother married his father, it took her a full year before she began to automatically speak Vamrhys. And she had tried on her own to learn it consciously.

Apparently, Karyn didn't even know what she'd done. El niisch niat ol. I'll see you tonight. A perfect translation without even thinking about it. Maybe not thinking about it made it easier. She hadn't figured out the word ‘lalid' yet and its meaning was a whole lot simpler.

Whatever gods that existed must be watching out for him. Maybe he still had some time left. Surely if she realized she was speaking his language, she would ask him what was up. She'd realize he wasn't ‘just a horny psychic' as she so bluntly put it the other day and he wasn't prepared to tell her the full truth. He had thought he could, but there was too great a chance she'd end everything between them.

Maybe the gods weren't on his side at all, he decided. They'd been together for a while now laughing, talking, going out, staying home, having sex and in general just enjoying themselves. It felt good being together with her but maybe this was a sign that everything was about to fall apart.

"So, have you gotten together with lover boy yet?"

Karyn was speaking to Tracey on the phone. She was glad her cousin had decided to postpone her visit. If she'd been there, she would've seen her face and teased her unmercifully.

"Silence speaks volumes, sweetie," Tracey chuckled. "So is he as good in real life as he is in your dreams."

  "Better."

Karyn had to admit, Tracey was right. Being with Malcolm made her feel wonderful and alive. And it wasn't all about sex either.

The last time he came over to her house, she flat out told him there would be no activities for the evening. He asked her why, trying not to appear disappointed, but she could tell he was.

"Was it something I did, Karyn?" His eyes spoke every emotion he had.

"No. It's that time of the month," she told him. "I thought you had a strong nose." She was clean, but still self-conscious. Ever since that one incident in seventh grade where Todd Fields went around telling all the girls in class they smelled like fish.

"You do smell different. Not unpleasant, lalid." He came closer. "Let me in. We'll do something else this evening."

She raised an eyebrow at him.

"You still don't trust me?" He looked disappointed.

"No, it's not that. You're just so different from what I expected you to be." She opened the door and let him inside.

"What did you expect me to be?" he asked.

"Well, what did you think he was?" asked Tracey.

  "Ixuari ol sualo."

  "What did you just say?'

"I said I thought he was just a horny psychic."

"O-kaay." Tracey sounded as though she were expecting Karyn to say she'd just been to Mars or something. "Did he teach you that word?"

"What word? Horny?" Karyn didn't know what she was talking about. Everyone knew that word, especially Tracey.

"No. Eek…zwa…whatever-the-hell you just said to me. You didn't tell me he was a foreigner. What language is it?"

Karyn was downright confused now. She mentally reviewed their conversation and then realized she had said something totally out of place.

"Hel-lo, Karyn? What language is it, sweetie?"

  "It's Vamrhys," she answered.

"Vamrhys, huh? Never heard of it," said Tracey. Her doorbell began to ring in the background. "Karyn, I have to go. I'll have to talk to you later, okay?"

  "Okay, Trace."

Karyn let her go this time without hesitation. Malcolm would be there soon and she wanted to talk to him.

At work, they would see each other only during lunch. Outside of work, they spent nearly all of their free time together. So much time together that Karyn never took the time to analyze their affair.

She liked how things were between them. They had delicious hot sex, but also deep conversations so there was balance in their relationship. That was good wasn't it?

They talked about work. They talked about life. He seemed to know so much about the world and the people in it. When she was around him, she felt lighthearted and she felt like she could trust him. Although, it was clear to her that sometimes held a part of himself back.

She shouldn't care, she thought. She didn't like talking about herself too much either, except she didn't have to. It was like the time in the store when he picked out her groceries. He just knew her. He just knew. Besides what he told her, though, she knew very little about him.

His abilities were so strange to her. She'd asked him at different times how and why he was able to do some of the things he did with his mind like the dreams, the sexual telekines
is, and implanting his thoughts. She guessed her speaking Vamrhys was a part of that, but how? He told her he was psychic. Well, he never told her that, she just assumed it. But she never heard of a psychic being able to transplant a brand new language in someone else's head.

And there were other unusual things about him that she had chosen to ignore. Like he never ate around her, not after that first morning they had together when he had a few pieces of fruit and a glass of plain water. And more than once in the night, she thought she'd seen his unusual eyes glowing.

Finally, there was his biting fetish. It felt good and she supposed there was no harm in it. The hickeys he left faded quite quickly, actually, but they looked strange. Not ugly or nasty, just abnormally huge, and each with two darker marks inside as though her skin had been pierced.

Anytime she'd tried to ask him questions about these things, Malcolm would usually deflect her questions until she got tired of asking. She heard her doorbell ring. She was determined to get an answer tonight.

Malcolm and Karyn both lay in the dark early morning, listening to the rhythmic music of another rainstorm and breathing in the relaxing scent of rainwater that had somehow found its way into her home. They held each other and played with choice parts of one another's anatomy, testing the buildup of their arousal to see how far they could take themselves before giving in to passion.

There, now. Karyn won their little game. Malcolm's head went to her neck and he began to nibble.

  "You like to bite."

Malcolm paused momentarily before he resumed licking and sucking her flesh.

"Your teeth are sharp," she said, pulling his head closer while she simultaneously bent her head back to give him more access.

"Am I hurting you?" he whispered against her skin.

  Karyn closed her eyes. "No."

  "No?"

"No." She relaxed into his embrace as he began to knead her breasts.

"I need to ask you something, Malcolm."

"Hmm?" He was busy plucking her nipples so he didn't notice her tone.

  "Why do I speak Vamrhys?"

  His hands stopped moving.

"Eldi sianqeh." I want to know now.

Fear burned his gut. He should have been honest, he thought, because now he would lose her.

She turned to him and wrapped her arms around his neck, knowing she'd finally asked one question too many. She felt waves of anguish from him. She wanted to soothe him.

  "What's wrong, Malcolm?"

"Nothing's wrong." He kissed her. "At least nothing had to be."

  "What are you talking about?"

"I just wanted you so badly, Karyn, I--" He got up from the bed and walked over to the window. He stared into the darkness for a long time. The muscles in his back were bunched and tense.

Usually he seemed so self-assured, but now there was an insecurity surrounding him that was very unnerving. He didn't seem like the Malcolm she knew.

He turned back to her. "Karyn, I never told you that I'm a vampire."

  CHAPTER NINE

  Karyn was silent.

  "Say something, lalid."

  "Like what, Malcolm?"

Everything she felt poured through her brain like streams of boiling hot water. She didn't know whether or not she should believe him. He was a vampire? That was nuts. But it did explain all those things about him, didn't it? And she had asked...

Not five minutes ago, she watched his eyes fill with torment. Over what? She was the one who felt tormented because she had been deceived and even still, she now realized she actually loved him. And this hurt more than being with Kevin. It hurt more than being with anyone else.

Malcolm went over to hold her but she pushed him away.

"Don't do this to me, Karyn. I need you."

Karyn moved off the bed and started to put her clothes back on.

"Don't do that," he said desperately.

She found his pants, too, and threw them back at him. She was angry and his being naked was not helping her think. The pants fell in a pile next to feet and it made her even more upset.

"Karyn, please just talk to me."

"What is there to say? You're just as inconsiderate, selfish, and dishonest as any other man I've ever been with."

He winced. "I know I should have told you the truth earlier."

"Should have?" She was incredulous. "You just said you're a vampire, Malcolm. You drink blood. You don't think that's relevant for me to know before I start sleeping with you."

His hurt made it easy for him to get offended. He grabbed her arm. "I don't drink blood. None of the Vamfir do. And I can see I was right not to tell you anything. You're just as bigoted as all other humans."

"Bigoted?" She snatched her arm away.

"Yes," Malcolm picked up his pants from the floor and put them on. "I've had nearly two hundred years on this worthless planet and all of you are the same. I had hoped you were different, Karyn."

She was now seething with anger.

"You're the one who misled me. You're the one who played with me. You're the one who took away my right to decide whether or not this would be the best relationship for me. And now you're saying I should be different?"

  Karyn pointed to the door.

"Get the hell out," she screamed.

  "You-"

  "Get out now!"

The muscles in his jaw flexed before Malcolm grabbed the rest of his clothes and left the room. A few minutes later, Karyn heard the distant slam of her front door.

Karyn sat down on the bed and thought she needed to swallow. She should swallow her emotions before she went insane. But there was a lump in her throat and it hurt so much that she began to cry instead.

She had a way of picking them, didn't she, she thought. She thought about all the relationships she ever had. Tony, the Thief. Darnell, the Jerk. Kevin, the Whore. And now Malcolm, the Vampire. Oddly enough, she should have seen it coming.

Karyn looked at her bed where they had made love only hours before and thought she wouldn't be able to sleep in it anymore. She would need to have it destroyed, she decided, as she went to her closet to get some sheets. She was going to sleep on the couch.

It was her fault, she knew. Malcolm was right. She should have been different. Instead of allowing herself to be led around by his eleven-inch leash, she should have followed her instincts and left him alone. Then, she wouldn't have been so miserable.

He hadn't even lied and said he loved her, she thought, as she curled up on the couch. He left like the bastard he was.

She remembered their first morning together.

"I stayed because you make me happy…" he had said.

Translation: "I AM USING YOU FOR SEX."

Back then, she had thought they'd made a connection. She thought he had meant something more. Obviously, she was too stupid to understand there was a difference.

And he was a vampire. What did that mean for her? She ran a finger over the edges of her teeth wondering if they were changing. She wondered if she would change. Would she really become part of a league of undead, or would she just become totally selfish and manipulative like him.

Time to be rational, she thought. Surely the forces of nature wouldn't turn her into a mutant overnight. Besides, if he truly had that ability, she probably would've been changed by now. They'd been together for over a month now. He'd bitten her plenty of times.

So, if Malcolm didn't have the ability to physically change her, and he didn't drink blood as he said, why did he try to hide being a vampire from her? What else was going on?

Malcolm paced the floors of his apartment toppling from one emotion to another. He couldn't believe it had happened again. Twice now in his lifetime he had loved a woman who didn't love him back.

Maybe the Vamfir and the Humans were never meant to be together. Veronique had said so all her life despite her unique genetics. Except he wanted to be with Karyn with all his heart.

He was so angry with her for closing herself off. For being
prejudiced. For saying he was just like every other man she'd been with. For throwing him out. For not loving him.

But then, he knew his misery was his own fault. He'd been a coward and let fear get in the way of his good sense. If he had told Karyn up front who he was, and she rejected him then, he could have told himself that it didn't matter. He could have moved on with his life.

Now the very essence of her was infused inside his being. He could see her, he could feel her, even smell her without her being there. He found himself physically and emotionally in pain. Damn her!

He went to take a shower to wash the feel of her off of him, but the water pouring over him reminded him of her warm, wet channel. Inadvertently, his penis began to harden. He tried to fight what he was feeling, but the image of her wouldn't go away. A curse instead of a blessing.

He held his cock in his hand and started to stroke it, something he hadn't needed to do since his youth. Damn her!

He closed his eyes trying to relax but he found himself tightening his fist, pumping more vigorously as he thought about being inside her. Damn her!

He imagined her as she had been tonight when he had walked through her door. She wore that short silk negligee he'd bought for her. Frankly, he would have preferred her to be naked but he knew how much she liked things that felt good against her skin.

She wore it well. The nipples of her breasts stood up beneath the cloth. The way it draped over the curve of her ass made him nearly drag her to the bed.

Once there, he made her turn around while he bent her at the waist and slid deep inside her. By the angels, she had such control of her inner muscles. She squeezed his dick, pulling him even deeper inside of her body until he was nestled so deep it was as though he could feel the very heart of her.

Damn her! She was so wet and tight, and her curvy, round ass shook each time he plunged into her.

His breathing became ragged as his fist moved harder and faster. He imagined every thrust that he filled her with and the tremors that coursed through her body with each one, until the last thrust sent them both over the edge and his balls tightened and he exploded inside of her. Even now, his body responded to every sensation his mind conjured up and he released his seed onto the shower floor, then collapsed against its wall.
