From Within Page 24

“I would like that. To be with you. To go to bed with you and wake up next to you.”

“To spend every chance I can inside of you,” I said, brushing my thumb over her bottom lip.

She shivered, her cheeks reddening. “I love you too, Xander.”

  (Hope)

My heart jumped when he pulled me in for a hug. Wrapping his arms around me, he held me against him, every inch of my soft body molding to his hard one.

At first, it had felt like I had a cup of water in the distance and I couldn’t get to it. I had been so thirsty for him.

It had been a year. One. Year.

Looking in on the outside, nothing had changed. Xander looked the same. I looked the same. We still fought occasionally but nothing like before. It usually resulted in what we wanted for supper or what we wanted to do for our evening. But it was definitely not like it was before Caiden died.

Xander trusted me. I could feel it. He didn’t look at me with dark accusation. He didn’t make snide remarks like he once did. He was…himself. He loved me. Completely. And I loved him in return. I had never loved him so much than right at that moment. The twinkle in his eye over being sober for a year proved right then this was it. This was meant to be. We were meant to be.

We would continue going to meetings together. He would continue to paint and I would continue to counsel people who gave into the sins of a bottle or a joint. Or worse.

Xander and I leaned against the back wall, holding hands and looking out into the small group of people. It was our home away from home. These people were our family now.

  I glanced up at Xander.

His strong jaw ticked, his eyes taking on a faraway look. He was thinking about Caiden.

I knew I would never take Caiden’s place in Xander’s heart but I would like to join him. A flutter soared in my belly and I smiled. Placing my hand on my lower stomach, I nudged Xander.

  “What’s wrong, baby?”

“Nothing,” I sighed contentedly. “Nothing at all.”

When J.M. isn’t working her Monday-Friday 9-5 job, she’s spending her time reading, writing and with the love of her life.

She’s an all-around Canadian girl. Born and raised in a small city.

If you don’t see J.M. writing, you’ll find her with her nose in a book. Whether it’s her words or someone else’s, she’s drawn to it.

J.M. loves stories with Alpha broken males and that need to be ripped apart and put back together again. Men that fall to their knees over a wink or a giggle from their females.

Two things you will never find J.M. without; her cell phone and lip gloss. If she has both of those items, you have a happy girl.

Since starting her writing adventure in 2013, J.M. has met many people, real life, online, in her head and she loves every single one of them. Without the support from others, none of this would be possible and she’s grateful for all that has been given to her.
