Taking Avery: A Lilith's Army MC Novel Page 13

by Ker Dukey

Jeers cackle from the corridor followed by fists pounding the walls.

  Bitch.

I advance on her and she turns to run, but I’m fast and swipe my arm around her waist, lifting her from the ground and throwing her to the bed. She squeals and giggles, completely caught up in the moment.

“Oh, you want to come?” I creep over her body and push her knees apart. She gasps, her eyes expanding. She begins to close her legs, but fuck that. Stay in this moment with me, princess.

Her chest lifts and falls quickly. Pushing her legs back open, I feast on the glory she’s displaying for me. Her ruby colored slit opens, showing me the prize inside. Her legs tremble but I know she wants it because she’s not telling me no and her legs aren’t fighting to close. I advance, hooking my arms around her thighs and pulling her ass toward me. My tongue swipes out and tastes her; she’s a perfect blend of innocence and pure woman.

“Oh God.” She groans. Her hands cover her face.

Her head drops and I stop. She lifts it back up, looking down at me, confliction pulling down her brows.

“Watch me eat your pussy, princess,” I tell her, kissing her pretty little clit. Her eyes spark with undiluted lust and she bites her lip.

Spreading her open with my fingers, I tease the soft flesh. When I feel her arch her back, I close my mouth over her needy clit and suck while slipping a finger inside her cunt to feel all that hot, swollen need. Her juices are flowing and her pussy grasps onto me. Pushing my tongue against her, I flick, lick, and taste her until her hips push up to meet my rhythm. Her hand reaches down and tugs at my hair. Her body grinds against me stroke for stroke.

She’s lost in the sensation and it’s striking. She’s beautiful when she just lets her body feel. I want to make her flood my fucking tongue, my face, with her cum.

“Slade.” A booming voice sounds from the door and Avery’s body solidifies underneath me. “Brig is here. Get out here now.”

Fucking perfect. Just while I have his daughter’s pussy on my lips.

Avery pushes me away and does a weird crab crawl away from me, grabbing my sheet and covering herself.

“Bit late to be coy, princess.” I jest, and get to my feet. “Let’s get this over with.”

She looks like she’s about to spew. “What did I do?”

Tears leak from her eyes and I know she got caught up in the moment. Now guilt and confusion is causing frown lines. It was way too soon to touch her like that but it wasn’t planned; it was the moment.

“You didn’t do anything, I did. Stop worrying that pretty little face of yours.”

She gets up and slips into her clothes; the shorts and one of my tees. We need to get her some new clothes, but for the time being, seeing her in my shirt makes me feel possessive.

“My dad is going to lose his shit when he sees me.”

“Well, we knew this was coming so don’t worry.”

All movements feel slowed down, from the pounding of my heart to each step I take in the direction of Tank’s office.

Du Dum. One step. Du Dum. Another step.

  “Your man okay, Tank?”

I hear my father’s booming voice before I enter the room. He’s always been a loud, overbearing man and I’m sure, at times, he likes to make sure he’s heard from every single freaking direction–from northside to southside, west to east, all over the damn continent if he had his way. He holds himself in high regard, making his presence known and demanding respect from whoever he taints with his company.

“You okay, darlin’?” Slade asks, sensing my composure slip as he slides his long fingers through mine.

I look up at him, unsure what to say, or whether I can actually form any words. Fear. It renders me immobile for a moment, but a small squeeze of Slade’s hand and I swallow it back.

“Keep strong, princess.” He recites the words he said to me yesterday.

“Keep safe, Slade.” And I don’t just say it because it went together last time; I say it because I mean it.

He nods his head then opens the door.

My dad’s eyes widen and than narrow to slits when he sees me. Then his eyes drop to mine and Slade’s joined hands, and my wedding ring. Something fierce lights his eyes and his jaw clenches, but he’s clever, he always has been, and he pulls his rage back.

“Well this is a surprise, Avery.” He doesn’t do well at hiding the anger from his tone, yet no one seems to pick up on it but me.

  “Daddy.”

Slade holds out his hand. “Good to see you again, Brig.”

My father glances down at Slade’s outstretched offering, and being the sly bastard he is, he plants a fake smile on his face and grips Slade’s hand. “Looks like I should be offering my congratulations, Frost.” He glances at me then chuckles. “Or my condolences.”

“Is that a threat?” Slade asks, his jaw tightening.

“Should it be one?” my dad replies, making my stomach twist into knots. “Jenna’s nosy cunt of a father came to the club today.” He directs that statement at me.

All color drains from me. I feel it happen, and my feet feel like lead weights that I’m balancing on, weak and off kilter.

“Yeah.” He raises his brow, taking my fear as the answer. “He said he hasn’t seen either of you for over a week.”

“Listen, Brig…” Slade starts, but is cut off when my father raises his finger.

“I knew she was seeing someone, running around all secretive, thinking I’m stupid.”

“That’s not what I think!” I cut in. “I just knew you wouldn’t understand.”

He moves toward me, his hand reaching out and grabbing me by the throat. Slade’s hand comes up to stop him but Tank grabs him and pulls him away from me. Tears burn my eyes and my throat closes as I try to breathe through his tight grip. He pulls me to him, and I have to grip his wrists and move to my tip toes to stop him from strangling me to death.

“You think you can make me look like a fool?” He growls. “Fucking a brother from a different club. You know you’re Axel’s woman.”

His anger has its own shadow and it’s crawling over my skin and embedding itself into my pores.

“Who the fuck is Axel?” Slade barks, and pulls free from his father. He comes over, knocking my father’s arm away from me and catching me when I almost tumble to the floor, coughing and spluttering.

“No disrespect, Brig, but she’s my old lady and no one throttles her but me.”

The gun my father pulls is quick and catches me off guard. He’s here with two of his own brothers who aren’t even in this room with him. There is no way he can shoot Slade and get out of this club alive, yet he pulls the trigger and a loud pop cracks the air.

  SON OF A BITCH.

“That’s enough!” Tank booms. My eyes expand, wide and rabid. The fucker shot him. I thought he would get a beating, but a fucking bullet in his own club?

“If you weren’t your father’s son that bullet would be in your head,” he warns Slade, who is nursing a bleeding arm with a fury I’ve never seen before. “Don’t fucking tell me ‘no disrespect’ when you’ve been going around with my eighteen-year-old daughter behind my back.”

“I love her,” he grates out. “And I’ll be a good husband to her.”

Tank moves toward us and eyeballs the damage. “Brig. Let’s have a drink and cool off. This is a shock to us both but it doesn’t have to end in more bloodshed. It can be a good thing. Uniting our clubs with family can only strengthen us both.” Tank turns to me. “Avery. Go clean up your husband.”

Rushing to leave, the need to get away from my father hurrying me, I run to Slade’s body and put his arm over my shoulder in support. “I’m so sorry!” I offer, meaning it, as we exit the room.

The entire club has fallen quiet and all eyes are on us.

“He fucking shot me!” Slade bellows into the room full of brothers.

Cheers ring out and a drink gets shoved into Slade’s good hand.

  “To the happ
y couple and our new princess,” someone calls, triggering more cheers to ring around the room.

What the hell? He’s been shot and they’re acting like it’s a good thing.

  “Kiwi,” Slade calls.

“Already called in the doctor, darlin’,” she says, winking at him.

He tips the bottle to his lips and takes a hearty gulp. “Could have gone worse, princess.” He smiles down at me.

“How? He shot you.” I fold my arms, a little mad that this all seems to be normal or expected. I nearly pissed my pants in there and know I will have bruises around my neck in the morning.

“It’s nothing. Glad he didn’t aim for my dick, because that’s where I would have aimed.”

A shot glass is shoved into his hands. He knocks it back and taps it down on the bar for a refill.

“I’m going to lie down.” I frown in disbelief and exhaustion.

“Lock the door,” he warns me.

I snort. I already planned to, and push the dresser up against it too.

I jar awake, bolting upright when a loud crashing signals the dresser falling over and the door being shoved open.

“What the fuck?” I hear Slade’s slurred words as he squeezes through the gap he’s managed to create between the dresser and the door. He stumbles into the room and I grab my cell to check the time.

  Four thirty a.m.

He pushes his jeans down and winces while trying to get his wounded arm through the sleeve of his shirt. He gives up and drops onto the bed.

I don’t think he remembers I’m here until he speaks.

“Who the fuck is Axe?” Slade’s deep growl makes me startle.

Shaking my head, I sigh. Haven’t we already covered this?

“He’s the Cutters’ deputy. My dad promised me to Axe.”

“He promised you to him? What the fuck?”

I shrug. “Dad wanted to make sure I went from one cruel cunt to another.” That’s not entirely true. He just wanted me married to the next highest-ranking brother.

“Jesus fuck,” Slade hisses. “You’re not some damn wheels to trade!”

Unable to stop myself before it spills from me, I glance down at Slade who’s now rubbing a hand over his face. “Yet here I am, manipulated into marrying one of Tank’s sons to bring peace and cover up for his other son’s actions.”

He pulls his hand away and looks up at me. “You’re right.”

Closing his eyes, his chest rises and falls until it slows and soft breathing signals he’s asleep. His arm is bandaged up, and there’s a small round blood patch showing through.

I remove the shirt that is half on and half off his body and then curl up in a ball next to him.

Slade is still sound asleep when I wake up. I nudge him but it just makes him snore. My stomach growls and it’s going to make me throw up if I don’t get some food inside me. I slip on a pair of his sweatpants and knot them at the waist to stop them falling down, and then make my way to the kitchen.

The club is relatively quiet. There are a few people moving around the main room, but I bypass that and head straight through the kitchen door. It’s empty, and I let out the breath I’d been holding since I left the bedroom.

My head is throbbing from the stress of just leaving the room, but I’m Slade’s wife now, and unless I want to starve and be a hermit, I need to get used to being here.

I’m just searching the pantry for some bread when I hear the door swing open and footfalls sound. Hushed whispers signal that a male has joined me in the kitchen.

“Shut your fucking mouth, Marie. You say anything and I’ll gut you and your kids.”

I move back when the shadow of the person creeps under the half open pantry door, but my ass bumps against a shelf and spices rain down to the floor like hailstones falling from the sky. I startle when the door swings wide open and Brenner stands there like the devil himself. He’s shirtless and breathing heavily, his cell phone is in his hand, clenched tightly into a fist.

A tug lifts up his top lip in a smirk. “Hey, princess,” he spits venomously.

Hate and rage claw under my skin but the fear of him being this close and us being alone overwhelms the fury. “I’m not your princess, asshole.” I raise my hands a little in front of me to fend him off, just in case he decides to attack me.

“You are now, apparently, and if the asshole is where you like it, who am I to argue.” He prowls the last two steps toward me.

I slap his hand away when he reaches for my face, but he’s so big and strong that he grabs my arm as I do and spins me around so my back is now firmly against his front. I squirm to try and get free but he’s holding me tight with his arms wrapped around my front. The small confines seem to shrink further, closing in around me. I’m suffocating.

“Keep wriggling against my dick and it will get hard and need to be put somewhere.”

I solidify. My heart is roaring through my chest and tears burn a stream down my cheeks. His head moves against mine, and leaning down, he whispers in my ear. “What did you hear?”

Confused by his question, a thousand of my own race through my mind. “What? When? What are you talking about?”

His breath burns a track down my ear and neck. “Doesn’t matter.” He pushes me forward and I collide with the shelf. I turn to watch as he walks away, shouting over his shoulder, “I’ll be seeing you.”

My breathing is erratic and I can’t calm myself enough to bring it under control. My lungs constrict and burn as I gulp at the thick air and get no relief. I rush over to the sink and blast the cold faucet, relishing the spray that hits my face as the pounding water bounces around the basin.

“Hey, sweetie,” I hear behind me in a sweet southern accent. “I’m Kiwi. You look…”

“A mess?” I finish for her.

She grins, and if not for the fact that she’s caked her face in so much orange tan, she could almost pass for pretty. “I just saw your old man.” She winks.

My body seizes. Does she mean Brenner? Did she see me when he brought me here? Is she going to be telling other people? Doesn’t she know I’m married? The room spins and she gets farther away without actually moving.

  “Darlin’, are you okay?”

Another figure crashes through the door and Slade’s frame takes residence next to Kiwi’s.

“Oh, here he is,” she babbles.

My heart begins to settle. She meant Slade. Thank God.

“Time to go home, Mrs. Walker,” Slade says, breaking me from my silent freak-out.

Confused, I peer up at him. “I thought this was home.”

He shakes his head. “Christ, no. Some brothers like the freedom the clubhouse gives them, but I’m more for privacy.”

  Thank the fucking Lord.

I blow out a long, quiet breath. The relief his revelation gives me is huge. Brenner worries me. Scares me even. And living with him would not be a good thing.

Slade chuckles at my relieved expression. “Yeah, not my idea of home either.” Tugging my hand, he pulls me into his side and wraps his arms around my waist. “I hope you can cook, princess. ‘Cos I’m fucking useless at it.”

“For once, you’re in luck.” I laugh.

“Oh, I dunno,” he mutters under his breath. “Think I’ve had a good run of luck lately.”

Tell that to the bullet hole in your arm.

I smile at Kiwi and offer a weird wave when Slade tugs me out of the room. Maybe marrying Slade isn’t going to be as bad as I’d thought. My mind is being pulled to and fro, but the encouraging fact that he doesn’t live in the clubhouse brings me some comfort.

  Only time will tell.

“I want to see Jenna before we leave.”

He stops walking and looks down at me. “Why would she still be here?”

I cross my arms and nod in agreement. “She shouldn’t be but, for some reason, she still is. Your brother has her.”

“He wouldn’t keep her, not after everything…”

  His words trail
off as in just realizing whom he’s talking about.

“And yet she’s here with him.”

  “Fuck. I’ll look into it.”

  “Now, Slade.”

His eyes crease into slits as he regards me for a few silent beats. “Fine.”

Grabbing my arm, he frog marches me up the corridor to the room I was held in when I first got here, and with every step, my heart rate quickens.

He bangs his fist on the door and I try to tug myself free but his grip tightens.

“Brenner,” he bellows to the wood.

“What the fuck do you want?”

“Open the fucking door or I’ll come through it.”

Groans echo with foot stomps. Suddenly, the door swings open and a waft of thick smog hits me in the face. I rear back slightly, curling a lip in disgust and moving away from the stench. His room stinks. He should open a damn window.

Brenner’s eyes flare when he sees me and licks his lip. “You fucking tell him, bitch?”

“Tell me what?” Slade’s eyes drop down on mine and I shrug my shoulders.

“I don’t know what he means.” I shrug, curling further into Slade’s warmth and protection.

Slade looks back at his brother, but Brenner’s eyes are still fixed on me.

“Tell me fucking what?” Slade demands.

A soft moan sounds from behind Brenner and both Slade and I look past him. Our eyes fall on Jenna, naked in his bed.

“You motherfucker.” Slade growls, pushing past him and waltzing into the room.

“She doesn’t want to leave,” Brenner replies, sharp and cold. His eyes track me as I slink into the room before sliding back to Slade.

“Jenna!” I call out, and she stirs.

  “What?”

“Come on. You can go home now,” I offer, desperate to get her out of this room and this fucking clubhouse.

“I don’t want to leave,” she slurs, pulling covers over herself and closing her eyes.

  “See.” Brenner smirks.

Slade looks down on me and I wave my hand toward Jenna. “She’s as high as a kite. She doesn’t know what freaking day it is, let alone what she’s saying.”
