I feel a break when I hit the ground.
Oh, my God above, please help me. I have never known pain like this. Between the break and the darkness, my senses are going fuzzy. I hope I can just lay here and die, but then I’m lifted by a couple of other angel soldiers who were waiting here at the bottom. That’s right. They’re checkpoint soldiers, soldiers stationed here to make sure no demons get up to the Highlands. They throw me inside of the checkpoint, bruised and broken. Then I hear whispering, and the evil weight of demons gathering around me. I try to keep my eyes open, but I don’t know why. I know the demons here aren’t going to let me live.
I hope Tasia will be all right.
My vision is fading fast, but I’m barely coherent enough to see the demons hissing around me suddenly back away. A single powerful demonic presence comes toward me. I can’t see him very well. He’s large, intimidating. He has long dark brown hair pulled back into a ponytail. His face is strong and chiseled. His eyes are a piercing yellow. I don’t know who this demon is, or why he does what he does. He lifts me onto his back and carries me away. I’m not so far gone to think that he’s actually helping me. Maybe he wants me all to himself. I don’t get to think about it much longer, though. I can’t keep my eyes open. My vision fades to black, and I see Tasia. Just Tasia, smiling at me, happy, kind, beautiful girl… Then I pass out.
