This & That Answers from Taryn

  Idea for the Seeker setting:

One of my all-time favorite shows is Buffy the Vampire Slayer, so I guess you could say the idea was inspired by my love of Buffy, and the young adult paranormal romance and urban fantasy genre. I also wanted to write a strong heroine that believed in herself and her skills, but still had a lot to learn about life and love, which definitely defines Janie.

  Why I chose Baltimore:

I went to college in Baltimore, so I'm very familiar with the city. This knowledge helped me write more descriptive scenes for the reader to visualize the story.

Did my teachers encourage me to write and follow my passions:

I was very fortunate to have teachers and parents who always encouraged me to follow my passions. They inspired me to never give up and follow my dreams.

Do I create my own book covers:

Yes. I love researching photographs and experimenting with fonts and colors. Designing book covers is so much fun.

  Bad habits:

I love to eat gummy bears while reading.

  Favorite place to read:

I love to read in bed before I go to sleep. It is quiet, so I can immerse myself in the story without interruption. If I'm really into a book it's difficult for me to put it down and I end up staying up way too late.

Stand Alone or Series when it comes to books:

I prefer reading a series that wraps up the main conflict at the end of each book, but also leaves the story open to more novels. I love it when I find myself rooting for the characters and getting to know them. It's amazing to see them grow throughout the series.
