His Disobedient Thief Page 14

“I want to play with him,” Carin said. She put her hand on Tristan’s crotch. He was hard, and it made her mouth water. But she knew that wasn’t what he had in mind. “I’m nervous about what you have planned, but I will submit to it. But what if I don’t like it?”

“Then we will stop, as before,” he said. “But trust me, you won’t want to stop.”

Carin didn’t really believe his words until they were upstairs in his bedroom. There were extra candles placed around the room, producing a soft atmosphere that relaxed her the moment they entered.

Tristan strode to a chair in front of the fire and sat down, crossing his legs. Before she could say she was going to change, he snapped his finger. The maid who had been tending to her since her arrival came and, without instruction, helped Carin strip down to her corset and stockings, Tristan’s preferred costume where she was concerned.

When she was gone, Tristan pointed to the bed. “Open the box.”

Her heart raced as she did; inside she found two objects, one long and thin, the other shorter and fatter. He wanted to put these in her bum?

“Both of them?” she asked in horror.

“One at a time, little cat,” he said. “You choose whether you want the shorter one, or the longer one. Pick them up, examine them.”

The shorter one drew her attention first. It felt heavy in her hand and she turned it from side to side to examine it. There were small protrusions from the sides, each one with a hole centered in it. “What are these?”

“For ribbons, to keep it from going too far inside you.” He chuckled. “The ribbons will be wrapped round your thighs.

  She understood what he meant.

“How can I choose one when I’ve never used one?” Carin set the object back in its place. It was heavy, and she wondered what it was made of, possibly rubber? She’d heard about it but didn’t have much call for objects made of the fairly new material.

“Close your eyes,” he said. “Now, think about me fucking you.”

  “Feels wonderful,” she said.

“Let your body relax, think of how it feels when I slide and in and out.”

“I am,” she said. She wanted to put her hands between her thighs and give herself pleasure as she had the other evening, but more than that she wanted to wait, she wanted to follow Tristan’s instructions.

“Do you have an image in your mind?” he asked.

Carin looked over to where he still sat in his chair. He stared at her, his gaze deep and seductive.

  “I do,” she said.

  “Describe it.”

The order, for that’s what it was, caught her off guard.

“Do it, Carin.” The timbre of his voice had changed, from deep and seductive to dark and just a little threatening. She stared at him, and he narrowed his eyes. He didn’t have to tell her to do it again. She found she rather enjoyed the thought of being ordered to do something.

“Your cock fills me completely, and when it slides and in and out it feels… wonderful.”

“Wonderful?” He shrugged. “Think of a better word, one that is naughty. Because you’re a naughty girl, Carin. You break into people’s houses, and you let me do nasty things to your body. Are you a naughty girl, Carin?”

She didn’t answer, and when he demanded that she do so, Carin shivered.

  “Yes, I’m naughty,” she said.

“Tell me again how it feels to have my cock in you. Use a different word besides wonderful.”

Carin thought for a moment before she said, “It’s erotic, stimulating.” She paused again before she added, “And addictive.”

“I like that last word the best,” he said. “I know it applies to me. I’m addicted to you, Carin. When I’m not touching you, I’m thinking about touching you. I’m thinking about different ways I can bring us both to the ultimate climax. I’m thinking about ways to teach you new things about love.”

Love. Not sex but love. That certainly put a kink in what she was thinking. But she reminded herself that when he used the word love he was talking about the physical part, not the emotional side.

  “Have you selected a toy?”

“That’s an interesting term,” she said.

“Well, we are going to use them while we play.” She could hear the smile in his voice, and she returned one to him before she turned her attention back to the objects in question.

  “It’s a hard decision.”

“Thick or thin, little cat. The choice is yours.”

“Thin,” she blurted out without really thinking about it. The larger one seemed much too big to go inside her backside. She hoped she didn’t back out when he started to insert it. She knew doctors used them, but she’d never thought to have one used on herself. Her nerves were tight as corset strings, which threatened to take her breath away.

“What do we do now?” she asked, her voice shaky.

“Put it down at the top of the bed and then come to me.”

She did as he said, and then settled on his lap once she was at his side. He started to stroke her thighs, and she leaned over and put her head on his shoulder.

  “Close your eyes.”

His touch was so gentle, so soothing, that she worried she would fall asleep, even though she knew what was about to happen.

“In and out, in and out,” he whispered.

Carin shivered. She snuggled closer to him.

“In and out, in and out,” he whispered again.

A moan escaped her lips when he repeated the words a third time.

“When I slide inside you I’ll feel the hardness in your bum,” he said. “It will press against us both. You’ll feel so full, so incredibly stuffed.”

Carin giggled. “Stuffed? That’s not much of an erotic term, is it?”

“Consider it a nasty one,” he said.

Tristan jiggled his knee and she took that as a sign that he wanted her to stand. She did so, but when she was on her feet he stood right behind her. He twirled her around and gathered her in his arms and started dancing around the room.

He held her close and nibbled on her neck and shoulders as he twirled her. She started to relax, feeling at home in his arms. They went round and round the room, even though there was no music. When they tumbled onto the bed she was on the bottom, and before she could say anything he kissed her with enough passion that it took her breath away.

They kissed and caressed each other until her nerves were on fire, and when he turned her onto her stomach she didn’t care that he was about to stick something up her bum. In fact, she thought it was rather a wonderful idea.

He kissed her back, over and over, and when he smacked her bottom she didn’t complain.

“Lift your hips,” he whispered, and when she did he pushed something under her, that lifted her, so her bottom was in the air. He caressed her bum, kneading it until she was moaning and clawing at the bed sheets under her.

When he placed a warm cloth between her bum cheeks she wondered where he’d gotten it, but then she realized he could have left the room and she probably wouldn’t have noticed. Her body hummed with need, and as he moved the cloth over her anus, and just into the opening, she closed her eyes and worked hard not to beg him to get on with things. He seemed to be taking it much too slowly, which was driving her insane.

Something cold replaced the warm cloth, but before she could complain she felt the tip of the dilator at her opening. He pushed it in gently, and the unfamiliarity of taking something that way made her jolt.

“Relax,” he whispered as he pushed it inside her. He stopped, and Carin’s body worked to expel the foreign object.

“Relax,” he repeated. Carin closed her eyes and remembered Tristan twirling her around the room as if they were at a ball. She smiled and moaned softly as he worked the thin dilator inside her.

He tied ribbons around her thighs, and she remembered that the dilator could get lost if it went in too far. It was a strange feeling to have it inside her, and Carin couldn’t
decide if she liked it or not. It was different than anything she’d ever thought to experience, and there was a part of her that wanted to beg him for his cock.

Tristan pushed his crotch against her backside, and she inhaled sharply.

“Do you feel full?” he asked.

  “Yes,” she managed to say.

“But you can be fuller,” he said. His put his hand between her thighs and caressed her quim. “Do you want to be fuller?”

The room seemed to spin. Carin nodded. She wanted to say yes, but her voice didn’t seem to be working at the moment. He left the bed and she closed her eyes as she listened to the rustle of clothing.

When he knelt behind her again she tensed up, he started again to caress her, cooing and telling her to relax and think of them dancing around the room again. Carin closed her eyes and thought about him cuddling her, dancing with her and holding her close. When he pressed his cock into her quim, she gasped. Totally new sensations filled her as his cock filled her quim. He held still at first, but then he stared to move, in and out, in and out, just like he’d said earlier.

He grasped her hips and moved slowly, and then faster and faster. The object in her bum did just what he’d said it would, which was make her feel fuller than ever before.

Tristan’s erratic breathing told her he was close, she was too. He toppled so that they were on their sides, and his thrusts became faster, and hit her in a spot she’d never felt before.

“Tristan!” she cried out as she spent, the room spinning around her as he held her close and pounded into her. He’d stopped moving, but she could hear the hitch in his breath. He rubbed his hand over her hips and Carin felt tears leak from her eyes. She was happy that he was behind her and couldn’t see.

This was the most incredible thing he’d ever done to her, she wanted to stay and see what would happen next, but she knew she couldn’t.

And it broke her heart. After a while she wondered if he slept, but when he roused and said they needed to clean up she was happy her tears had dried. She didn’t want him to know anything was wrong.

When they were cleaned up, and back in bed, he gathered her into his arms and she could tell he was asleep almost immediately, which was good. She would give him an hour and then she would make her escape.

It would break her heart to do it, but she didn’t really have a choice.

Carin wanted to damn the world for having her be the daughter of a thief, and not the daughter of a peer.

But, as her father had always said, nothing in the world was fair. She had to remember that as she searched for a new job, a new home and worked to forget the wonderful last few nights.

There was no moonlight coming through the French doors. The sounds of Tristan’s breathing filled the room and Carin cried softly as she opened, and then closed the door.

Once in the hallway she opened doors until she found the steps to the attic. Her old clothing was lying on the floor, packaged in neat bundles, cleaned and folded. She opened the top one and took out a pair of trousers and a shirt, quickly dressing before gathering up the rest of the bundles in her arms.

She went back down the stairs and stopped as she passed Tristan’s door. Should she leave a note, let him know why she was leaving? Or would it be easier to just go, and not look back. She hated the fact that she’d hurt him by doing this, but she had no choice. She wouldn’t allow Tristan to be ruined because of her.

Carin tiptoed down the stairs and then stopped at the front door, her hand near the knob. She couldn’t run. She couldn’t leave him. She loved him too much. What had he said? She needed to trust him. Was she trusting him by running? She should turn around and go back upstairs, wake him and tell him everything.

But she couldn’t. She took a deep breath and twisted the knob, pulling it open and shutting it quickly when a deep voice sounded behind her.

“Where do you plan on going at this time of the night?”

Carin turned her eyes on Temple, standing at the bottom of the stairs with a book in one hand, a candle in the other.

  “I have to leave. Tonight.”

Temple shook his head. “First you break in and now you’re breaking out. Should I give Lord Ellington a reason, or do you just want to leave him guessing?”

Carin couldn’t help but smile at the older man’s words. “If I stay Tristan’s reputation will never be the same. He’ll be ruined.”

Temple laughed. “You don’t know the members of society. His reputation may go up. Before you go let me tell you something. I’ve been with the Master for some time now. And I haven’t seen him this happy in years. He loves you. And he needs you. And I believe that you need him.”

Carin took a step into the hallway, Temple’s words running over and over through her mind.

“He doesn’t love me,” she said. “He told me he didn’t want to be in love. Besides.” She stopped talking, and then decided she needed to tell someone, even if it wasn’t Tristan.

“Tonight, a woman told me I would do nothing more than ruin him. If he is hurt by my love, and I have to admit that is what I’m feeling, I could never forgive myself.”

Temple nodded. “He will be more hurt if you leave like a thief in the night.”

The butler held his candle up higher. Carin slumped against the door. Was what Temple said true? Would her leaving hurt Tristan more than her staying? And could she live without him?

She sank down onto the floor and hugged the bundles of clothing next to her body. “Temple? I’m frightened.”

Why was she telling this to the butler but not to Tristan?

Temple, who had started to walk back toward the library, stopped.

“Afraid of what, milady?” Temple took a step back toward her. “Afraid of letting yourself feel?”

She hadn’t expected to hear that. “Maybe,” she said. “How do you know he cares about me?”

“Because he did not contact the authorities when you broke into his house,” he said. “He is helping you with the problem you have. Do you think he would do that if he didn’t truly care about you? I know him well enough to know he would have called the authorities and let them drag you away. Instead, if you will allow me to be indelicate, he took you to his bed.”

Carin blushed and looked away from him. She could run, but where would she go?

“I can’t tell you what to do, milady, but I sincerely hope you don’t leave him,” Temple said. “He needs you, and you need him.”

“You realize I’m just a seamstress,” she said. “You don’t refer to me as milady.”

The butler chuckled. “Let me tell you what Lord Tristan said to me when he told me you would be staying here. He said you were a strong woman who was fighting to right a wrong. He said you were more a lady than any ‘lady’ he’d ever known.”

Carin stood. She held the bundles out. “Temple, would you burn these for me, please?”

He put down his book and candle and took them from her. “With pleasure, milady.”

Carin started up the stairs. At the top she saw Tristan, wearing only his pants. He held out his hand and she climbed toward him. She took it and when he squeezed it gently she said, “Sorry.”

“You’re still here, so you’re forgiven,” he said. “We need to sleep. It’s late, and we have an appointment in the morning.”

“What? When were you going to mention this to me?”

Tristan took off his pants and climbed into bed, totally naked. “We’re meeting with the Duke of Rafferty. I want to ask him about the keys. I sent him a message very early this morning and he answered me before we went to the play. I was going to tell you in the morning.”

“Are you angry that I tried to run?”

“I’m angry that you listened to Shelia,” he said. “You let me deal with her.”

  “How?”

He sighed heavily and put his hands behind his head. It emphasized the wonders of his bare chest, and made her want to climb on top of him and kiss him, over and over.

&n
bsp; “Carin, what Temple said is true,” Tristan said. “I love you. It scares the hell out of me, but I’m not going to run from it. I pray you don’t, either. Now, strip and come to bed. I would say we could play again but I think you need to know I just want to hold you and sleep with you. And love you.”

Tears rolled down her cheeks and she wiped them away.

“Carin, come to bed,” he said. “You’ll think better when you’re wrapped in my arms.”

“Or I won’t think at all,” she said. “You have that affect on me.”

“Then come to bed and don’t think,” he said. “We both need the sleep. We’ll discuss other things tomorrow, after we figure out what the keys are about.”

Carin undressed and climbed into bed as naked as Tristan. He wrapped his arms around her and she put her head against his chest, and at that moment she knew Temple was right.

  She was home.

  Chapter 12

I think you might be interested in this little tidbit, my sweet little thief.” Carin put down her tea and smiled up at the man who had held her most of the night. He loved her. It still hadn’t settled in yet that he truly loved her, that he wanted her to stay. Charlotte was right, and so was Temple.

  “What is this?” she asked.

Tristan handed Carin the newspaper, took a seat on the chair across from her, as she scanned the page. “This is not the Times, it’s a gossip sheet.”

“Read it to me,” he said, before he took a sip of his tea.

She read a few lines, then she laughed so hard the table shook. “How did you do it so quickly?”

“Sometimes I think your hearing is faulty,” he said. “Read it for me.”

Carin took another sip of her tea before she started speaking, “It looks like a member of the realm has taken to crime to support his habits. Sources say that Lord Simon, a well-known gambler, is being sought for questioning by Scotland Yard in connection with a string of burglaries at some of London’s most fashionable homes.”

She paused, took a breath and then a drink of her tea before she continued. “Investigators say Simon reportedly hired thieves to break into houses of respected members of society and steal precious items. When the items were sold, Lord Simon would pocket more than half the profit to help pay his gaming debts.”
