“She’s dead,” he said.
“That’s not possible,” Caleb replied, leaning over them. Riley’s eyes were open and unmoving; her body splayed awkwardly on the ground. There was no bullet. No wound. No blood. “The gun wasn’t loaded.”
“Loaded or not, Sergeant, I’ve been a doctor a long time. I know dead from alive, and she’s definitely dead.”
Caleb stared at Doctor Brom. Was this a joke? A dream? Was he hallucinating?
A cold chill ran down his spine as his eyes crossed over the other people in the room, David’s voice echoing in his mind.
The hallucinations are a weapon, Sergeant.
And someone or something had just used it.
“Doctor Brom, we have a problem.”
