He stopped moving when he saw the bra and stared at my breasts. “These,” he whispered reverently. “These are what I have thought about for the last week.”

One hand reached around me and quickly unhooked the bra, carefully pulling it off and tossing it on the floor with my shirt. He stared at my breasts as if they were the best-looking delicacy placed in front of a starving man. He reached one hand up, gently cupping one before putting his lips to my nipple and gently sucking it deep into his mouth. It was a trigger. I felt my body grow wet as he continued to administer to both breasts, suckling and nibbling, feasting on my body that was now covered in goosebumps of arousal.

“You’re making me crazy,” I groaned.

“Good, I want you thrashing, begging me,” he replied a second before using his teeth on my nipple.

I cried out. The spark of pain followed by pure ecstasy shocked me. It felt too good, too naughty to be so good.

I whimpered, feeling my body taut and on the edge of an orgasm. I wanted a release. I needed it. I couldn’t stop the jerking of my hips as my body acted of its own volition, trying to get more, to get that last little bit of pressure that would send me over the edge.

“Okay, okay,” he whispered, his hands moving to my pants and quickly undoing them.

I shook my head, frustrated. “It won’t work.”

  “Stand up,” he ordered.

I pushed off his body, standing in front of him and shucking my pants so fast, it would have made Superman proud. I stood before him in nothing but my racy, red thong in the middle of my living room. The lights shined brightly, leaving me nowhere to hide or be modest.

  “Bedroom?” I asked.

He shook his head. “I like this.” He reached out, running the tips of his fingers over the lace covering my core.

I shuddered under his touch. My skin was overly sensitive. Every touch, every caress felt like fire trailing over my body in the best way.

  “Lay down,” he ordered.

I looked at the couch and did as he asked. He got to his knees beside the couch, staring at my body stretched out.

He smiled. “You’re gorgeous, every inch of you is absolutely perfect,” he whispered.

Another shiver of pure desire snaked over my body, making me whimper with need. His fingers traced a circle around my left nipple before he leaned down and feasted on me. While his mouth worked my nipple, his hand trailed down my body, moving over my stomach and between my legs. He grabbed my knee, pulling it toward him and dropping my foot to the floor before pushing my other leg against the couch.

When his hand slid under my panties, finding home, it was like being touched by lightning. My back arched, and a moan escaped my lips as he parted my folds, gently probing with the tip of his finger until he slid it inside me. I couldn’t hold back the release that had been building since the erotic dream. I’d been walking around horny as hell, desperate for him to give me what my body craved.

  “More,” I hissed the word.

  “More?” he asked.

I moaned, my eyes closed as my head rolled back and forth. I felt him push a second finger inside me. I bucked, and the orgasm exploded through me. His mouth crashed over mine, sucking my tongue as his fingers worked in and out of me, extending the orgasm until I felt as if I had been completely wrung out.

He pulled away. I opened my eyes and found him staring directly at me. His eyes were fiery green, almost crystal clear. I felt myself blush, a little embarrassed by my ecstatic response to his touch. I smiled.

“I could watch you come all day,” he whispered, his eyes dropping to my mouth and then down my body.

“I don’t know if I would survive that,” I replied with a soft laugh.

He reached for my arm that was tucked in tightly between my body and the couch, pulling me to a sitting position. I immediately reached for his jeans, anxious for him to be inside me. I wasn’t done yet. I wanted all of him.

He was suddenly in a hurry as well, pulling off his shirt, getting to his feet, and shedding the rest of his clothes. I stood, yanking off my panties until the two of us were completely nude in the middle of my living room. I reached out, tracing my fingers over the tattoos before stepping close to him, rubbing my breasts over his chest, moaning with pleasure. My nipples were hyper-sensitive after his earlier attentions.

“Turn around.” He rasped the words.

I did as he asked, his chest pressed against my back as his hands gripped my breasts. I gasped at the roughness, loving the way he felt against me and the barely restrained passion I could feel as he massaged my breasts, pinching my nipples as he pressed his swollen cock against me.

  “Move,” he grunted the word.

I took a few steps around the back of the couch, knowing exactly what it was he wanted. I could feel the tension in him, knew he was just as desperate as I was. I couldn’t help but tease him a little. I wiggled my ass against him, bending over just a little.

  “Jamie,” he growled.

“I want you,” I told him.

“You have me,” he replied, pushing one hand against the middle of my back and lowering my body.

I gripped the back of the couch, waiting to be filled. His hand spread my thighs, moving his fingers to my core and pushing in one finger, readying me for his invasion. I was more than ready. He fingered my clit, turning my legs to jelly, nearly making me fall to the floor as he continued to tweak and pull until I was shaking with need.

  “Philip,” I cried out.

“Not yet,” he replied. His fingers strummed me like an expert guitarist, plucking at my folds and sending shivers of pure heat through me.

My fingers gripped the couch, fighting to stay upright as he teased and titillated my body to the point of extreme pleasure and pain from lack of release.

  “Please!” I shouted.

“Please what, Jamie? What do you want?” His husky voice brushed over my ear.

I was whimpering, completely beside myself as I held on to the couch. “Please, Philip, please, I need it.”

“It?” he growled, pinching the sensitive nub that held all the power over my body in that moment.

“Fuck me! I need your cock!” I screamed, desperation making me feel crazed.

With one swift, fluid motion, his fingers were gone, and his huge, hard dick was pushing inside me. My head dropped, hanging between my arms as I screamed out in ecstasy. The orgasm was the most extreme thing I had ever felt. It was so good it hurt. I wanted it to stop and last forever at the same time.

My body would no longer hold my weight, and I fell over the back of the couch, my ass high as he pummeled into me, in and out, stroking and fucking me with the same desperation I had felt moments earlier.

“God dammit, it’s never enough,” he was shouting angrily as he drove into me.

I felt him stiffen, heard his shout from somewhere far away as my body completely melded around him, pulling him inside, milking him as his fingertips dug into my hips. His body jerked against me, his strained gasps of pleasure making me smile. I loved that he was as moved by our sex as I was.

I moaned with supreme pleasure, feeling sated and ready to fall into bed. He moved behind me, helping me stand up before turning me around and enveloping me in a warm hug. I rested my face against his chest, feeling his heart pounding under my ear.

“My god, I always think it can’t get better, and then you blow my mind,” he whispered, rubbing his hand up and down my spine.

I laughed. “I know the feeling.”

“One of these times, I swear I’m going to last longer, but you undo me. I can’t hold back.”

  “Don’t hold back,” I said.

He let out a long sigh. “I should get dressed.”

“Can you stay?” I asked him softly.

He winced. “I wish I could, but I have to get home.”

I nodded my head. “I understand,” I said, feeling completely bummed he couldn’t stay.

“I really am sorry,” he whispered, run
ning his hand over my cheek before giving me a soft kiss. “One of these days, I hope we can spend the night together, but I have to get home tonight.”

“It’s fine,” I mumbled, moving to pick up my clothes, and quickly dressed.

It was in the immediate aftermath of sex that I always felt a little guilty. Not guilty but dirty, like I was a booty call. I knew I wasn’t, but I couldn’t help but think that way as I watched him tug up his jeans, buttoning them in a hurry before pulling on his shirt. He sat down on the couch and quickly tied his shoes before getting to his feet and giving me another quick kiss.

“I’ll see you tomorrow,” he said, reaching around and squeezing my ass.

I smiled. “I’ll see you tomorrow. Have a good night.” I felt a little silly, but I didn’t know what else to say.

Until next time you need to get laid sounded a little vulgar. I walked him to the door, got another quick kiss, and locked it behind him. I hated how I felt tossed to the side. I knew he had a very good reason for getting home and couldn’t blame him at all, but it still hurt.

  Chapter 33

  Philip

I parked my truck and headed into the office. I knew Clay was going to have questions. How could he not? Last night when I had gotten home, Sadie was still up, watching TV. He hadn’t asked about the night, and I hadn’t volunteered any information. He wasn’t going to let it go, though. I almost hoped he would be on the phone with a client and too busy to grill me.

I wasn’t so lucky. He was waiting for me at his desk, a grin on his face.

“I take it she appreciated your gesture?” he asked.

  I smiled. “Yes, she did.”

“This is getting serious,” he commented.

I shrugged. “I’m not sure about serious, but I do like her. I do care for her. I like spending time with her. Sadie likes her.”

He nodded. “She was all Sadie could talk about.”

I laughed. “Sadie is enamored with her. I don’t know if it’s because she’s the shiny, new thing in our lives or if it’s because she’s a woman and she’s longing for a mother figure in her life.”

“Either way, Sadie likes her, and that’s a good thing,” he pointed out.

I sucked in a breath. “I don’t know. I have to say I feel like I should proceed with caution.”

“I agree, but don’t be cautious,” he warned. “Let it blossom as it should. Don’t try and stop things because you’re afraid.”

“I don’t want to, but sometimes, I get that little voice in the back of my head that tells me to back off,” I admitted.

“You have to tell that voice to shut up. Don’t let it keep you from being happy. You deserve to be happy. I know you felt like there was a certain amount of time you had to grieve, and I get it, but you’ve done it. Three years is a long time to be alone and celibate.” There was no judgement in his tone.

“But it feels like a risk,” I said, my voice low.

I hated that I sounded scared, but I was. I didn’t want to fall in love with Jamie and have her leave me or do something that cut me to the core. I was scared of feeling the pain of another loss, in any shape or form. I wasn’t sure I could survive another heartbreak. When Tara had died, it had been final. A breakup would be tough because I would still see Jamie and hear about her moving on without me. Both scenarios sucked.

“It is a risk,” he lectured. “That’s part of dating and finding love. You put yourself out there, and sometimes it doesn’t work out. But you won’t know unless you try. You won’t get to experience the joy of love if you don’t give it a chance to happen.”

I nodded. “I’ll keep that in mind. We’re taking things as they come, not trying to force anything. If things start going in that direction, I’ll reevaluate then.”

“Good. That’s all you can do.”

“All right, thanks for the talk, but I’m out of here,” I said and picked up my delivery sheet, eager to see her and get my morning kiss. I said my goodbyes and left, driving straight to Jamie’s shop.

Jamie was outside, talking to a redheaded woman when I pulled up. Jamie waved as I climbed out of the truck. The redhead walked inside while Jamie waited outside for me. I gave her a kiss, wrapping my arms around her. Her arms went around my waist as we embraced in a comfortable hold.

  “Who’s that?” I asked her.

“That’s Dani. I can’t wait to introduce you to her.”

“Did I scare her away?” I teased.

She laughed. “No, her phone was ringing inside.”

I nodded, following her inside the shop. The redhead was talking on the phone, looking at me and smiling. I smiled back, feeling a little like I was being checked out as her eyes roamed over me, clearly inspecting me.

“Are you doing anything this weekend?” I asked Jamie in a quiet voice.

  She shrugged. “That depends.”

  “On?”

“Whether you ask me,” she said with a grin.

I smiled. “Do you want to hang out with me and Sadie? We could maybe go to the pizza parlor, play some video games, and just have fun.”

“I would love that,” she exclaimed.

“Great. I know Sadie will be thrilled to hear it. She hasn’t stopped talking about you since Saturday.”

Jamie smiled. “That is awesome. She is such a cutie, and I really did enjoy hanging out with her.”

The redhead walked toward us. She reminded me a bit of a cat, light on her feet. It was clear she was in excellent physical condition. The exercise outfit showed her defined, toned body. “Hello, I’m Dani,” she said with a friendly but somewhat guarded smile.

  “I’m Philip.”

“I’ve heard,” she said with a wink.

“It’s nice to meet you. Jamie has told me a lot about you.” I hoped to be friends with the woman, but she was giving off a very unfriendly vibe. I wasn’t sure if it was just me or if it was real. She had a smile on her face, but it was a lot like a smiling viper.

Dani laughed. “I’m sure she has.”

Jamie was loading up the box with the day’s deliveries when she looked around. “Crap, I’ll be right back,” she muttered, heading up front.

Dani stepped toward me, looking me in the eyes. I suddenly felt like I was in an interrogation room. All that was missing was the bright spotlight. She reached out and grabbed my left hand. I flinched, yanking it back.

“Can I help you?” I asked her.

“Yes, actually you can. Why do you still wear the ring?” Dani was nothing if not direct.

I looked down at my hand, staring at my ring. “My wedding ring?” I asked, slightly dumbfounded.

“Yes, your wedding ring,” she said tersely. “The ring that signifies you are married to another.”

“I’m not sure how that is any of your business,” I snapped.

“It is my business because Jamie is my best friend, and I care a great deal about her,” she replied. “I don’t want her getting hurt.”

“I’m not going to hurt her,” I argued.

“You sure about that?” she asked, glaring at me.

“Not intentionally,” I said. “I mean, things happen. I can’t promise I won’t accidentally say or do something that causes her some kind of pain or that I won’t piss her off. I’m almost sure I will at some point, but that’s part of being in a relationship.”

She shook her head. “You know what I mean.”

“No, actually I don’t,” I growled. “Why don’t you spell it out for me?”

“You’ll never be loyal to her if you’re loyal to your late wife,” she said. “You wear the ring because you are still married in your mind to another woman. Don’t you think that’s selfish?”

  I frowned. “Selfish, how?”

“Because you will never really dedicate yourself to Jamie,” she said bluntly. “You will never truly let yourself be with her. You’re fucking around with her, but you’re still married to your wife.”

I scoffed, a little taken aback by her vulgar
words. “I’m not. I mean, I am married, or I was married. That isn’t something you just undo. You of all people should know that.”

She nodded her head, holding up her hand. “Exactly. I’m wearing my ring because I’m still married to Gage. I won’t take it off because he has my heart, just like I promised he always would. I’m still in love with him.”

I stared at her, then my ring. I didn’t think I was still in love with Tara, but if she were alive, we’d still be married. At least, I assumed we would be. I loved her. She was the mother of my child, and I would always love her.

“My wife has been gone a lot longer than your husband,” I said. “I don’t think you really understand. Your loss is fresh. Mine is not.”

She smirked. “It doesn’t make it any less wrong that you’re still wearing your ring while you’re dating Jamie.”

“My ring means something different,” I said firmly, not about to get lectured by the woman standing in front of me. “Again, it isn’t any of your business why I do or don’t wear my ring. It’s my ring. My wife. My life. My relationship with Jamie is my business.”

“She’s my friend, my sister, and that’s why it’s my business,” she argued.

“Look, I appreciate that you care for Jamie, but so do I,” I said, trying to stay calm. “I’m not setting out to intentionally hurt her.”

She didn’t answer me. Instead, she looked at my ring again. I followed her eyes, looking at the band that had been a part of me for over a decade. I realized everything Dani was saying was true. I wasn’t ready to let go of the ring. If I took off the ring, it would be like saying goodbye to Tara for good. I couldn’t do that. I hadn’t even thought about taking it off. Clay mentioned it, but it wasn’t something I had let myself even think about.

“I think—” Dani started but quickly snapped her mouth closed when Jamie came back, carrying a bouquet in her hand.

“All right!” she said with a smile. She stopped walking and looked from me to Dani.
