Myadd: Vaxxlian Alien Mail Order Brides #6

by Sue Mercury

“She was in a rural area of Alaska living in a tiny hut. She was quite cold and had little food when I found her. She’s currently being treated by a healer for malnutrition and a broken arm that never healed properly.”

“Thank you, my friend,” Myadd said. “I am grateful for your assistance.”

“Of course,” Reshun replied with a nod. “We are currently at the underground processing center in Utah. I will transmit the coordinates and you may come retrieve Macy whenever you would like. The healer will be finished treating her soon.”

Myadd glanced at the coordinates and calculated the time it would take to arrive. Less than an Earth hour. Good. He was anxious to depart this planet and get all the females under his care back to New Vaxx, most importantly his sweet mate. Sienna. He would do anything for her.

“Would you like a fleet of cruisers to come to your current location and escort you here?” Reshun asked. “The humans who wish to kill Macy and her sister might have figured out the sister got away on a Vaxxlian cruiser.”

“Actually,” Myadd said, “it was not the political enemies of Macy and Skylar’s father who deployed the missiles.”

“Who was it, then?” Reshun arched an eyebrow, looking curious.

“Alien Combat. Have you heard of them?”

Reshun nodded. “I have. Why would they attack Skylar?”

“The missiles weren’t sent to take out Skylar, after all,” Myadd said, anger surging through his veins. “They were sent to kill Sienna. My mate.” He went on to explain, as quickly as he could, the reason Alien Combat was after his female. When he finished speaking, Reshun appeared troubled by this news.

The older Vaxxlian took a deep breath and his gaze turned distant for a moment. Myadd waited patiently for Reshun’s advice. Though Myadd himself was an experienced and decorated warrior among his people, he would never be too proud to accept the advice or even the help of a trusted elder, particularly one who’d been friends with a family member.

Finally, Reshun spoke. “I believe it would be wise if you remain in the ice cave while I bring Macy directly to you. I will come to you with a fleet of twelve Vaxxlian cruisers and we will escort you to the Eshunna Passage. Once you are safely through the passage, you should be able to reach New Vaxx without any further interference from Alien Combat. The cruisers that patrol our sector near the wormhole would never allow ships owned by that disreputable company to enter our territory. Your mate will of course be safe on New Vaxx, thanks to the planetary shield.” A look of determination burned in Reshun’s green eyes.

“I agree with your plan,” Myadd said. “And I am honored to receive your help. My uncle always spoke highly of you.”

They worked to quickly finalize their plans. Once Myadd ended the call with Reshun, he exited the bridge, eager to locate both Sienna and Skylar and inform them of the news.

He found the two females seated at a table in the guest quarters, both wearing anxious looks as they turned to watch him enter the room. He gave his mate an encouraging smile, hoping to convey to her that all would soon be well.

“A fleet of Vaxxlian cruisers will be arriving soon to escort us to the Eshunna Passage,” he said. “Alien Combat will not stand a chance against our cruisers and probably will not dare to attack us, even if they are able to locate us.”

“Oh, that’s a relief,” Sienna said. “Thank you. Um, what about Skylar’s sister? Any news?”

Myadd peered at the blonde female. “Your sister has been located and she is already on her way here.”

Skylar’s eyes widened and her mouth dropped open. Sienna exhaled an audible sigh of relief, then rose to her feet and rounded the table to throw her arms around her friend.

“Oh Skylar, I’m so happy for you. I know how worried you were about Macy. And now the both of you get to come to New Vaxx with us and…” Sienna paused and glanced at Myadd. “I, um, meant to ask you if perhaps they could come with us to your planet?”

He nodded. “Of course. They can stay in our home until they are mated.” He cleared his throat. “If you and your sister come to New Vaxx, you will both be expected to mate with a Vaxxlian warrior soon after your arrival.” Myadd wondered what his brothers would think of him bringing two additional females back to New Vaxx.

Fortunately, their shared house was quite spacious. He’d almost contacted them to share the news, as well as to inform them about the situation with Sienna and Alien Combat, but he had decided not to bother them so soon after their arrival on Earth. They were likely busy collecting their respective mates and possibly mating with them before leaving this planet.

“Oh, thank you, Myadd.” Tears brimmed in Skylar’s eyes. “I assure you that my sister and I won’t waste any time finding a mate on your planet. How exactly will that work? Will we have our choice of single warriors, or will the mail order bride service set us up with two available males?”

“I am not certain yet,” Myadd admitted. “Our most pressing concern is getting off Earth and through the wormhole.”

“Do you or your brothers have any single friends?” Sienna asked, her eyes twinkling with excitement. He was glad to see her appearing happy and animated when she’d been crying in his arms not long ago.

“I know several unmated warriors that I would consider friends,” Myadd said.

“Then perhaps you can play matchmaker,” Sienna said with a grin at Skylar. “You can talk to both Skylar and her sister, get to know them a little better, and decide which of your friends they would get along with best.”

“Oh!” Skylar said, clapping her hands together. “That’s an excellent idea.”

“Very well,” Myadd replied. “I will ‘play matchmaker’ as you call it.” He compiled a mental list of the unmated warriors he considered friends, intending to revisit the topic later. Once they arrived on New Vaxx and Sienna was finally safe from Alien Combat, as well as far from the reach of Brett, the male who had harmed her.

A growl built in his throat at the thought of her former boyfriend.

Fluxx. Though he didn’t wish for Brett to venture anywhere near Sienna ever again, part of him hoped he somehow ran into the dishonorable sucruma in the future. Violent, murderous visions danced in his head. He would tear the human male to shreds.

“Let us go to the bridge,” Myadd said. “I can better track the Vaxxlian fleet’s approach. I must remove the cloaking field shortly before they reach our coordinates. It’s freezing here, but we’ll dock two ships together quickly in order to bring Macy safely aboard.”

As they headed for the bridge, Skylar walked ahead, allowing him some privacy with his mate. He held her hand and paused briefly, turning her in his arms.

“Are you feeling better?” he asked.

“Yes, of course,” she replied, though her response came a bit too rapidly and she suddenly appeared nervous again.

He opened his mouth, preparing to ask her if she was telling the truth, but decided perhaps they ought to finish this conversation later. Whatever was still bothering his little human, Myadd was determined to get the truth out of her.

He squeezed her hand and they continued walking. “We will talk more later, my sweet mate,” he said, “and I hope when we do, you will give me nothing but honesty.” He kept his tone light, though he noticed she stiffened beside him.

“I do have something else I must tell you, Myadd,” she said, meeting his gaze with a look of resolution, “but it’s probably better to wait until we have Macy aboard and we’re through the wormhole and out of danger.”

  Chapter 16

Sienna hoped it truly was smart to wait until they passed through the wormhole. If she told Myadd she was pregnant right now, the news would likely distract him and she didn’t wish to add to his burdens at the moment, not when a fleet of Vaxxlian cruisers was approaching to escort them safely to the Eshunna Passage.

Her stomach heaved. She still couldn’t believe Alien Combat had tracked her to Earth, let alone to her apartment in Houston. Their reach ex
tended far and she had no doubt they’d probably found her using facial recognition software. She ought to have worn a prosthetic nose and chin when she went out in public and gave herself a mental kick for thinking a little haircut and some dye could keep her hidden.

They reached the bridge and Myadd took a seat at the controls. He pressed a few buttons on the dashboard in front of him and a radar screen soon appeared on one of the panels, revealing twelve blinking dots heading in their direction. The Vaxxlian fleet. She clung to the hope that nothing else bad would happen today and they soon got the hell off Earth.

As Myadd kept one eye on the radar screen, he also busied himself at another console. Sienna and Skylar sat quietly and watched. Occasionally, they exchanged a few brief words, but they kept their voices low, not wishing to disturb Myadd. He wore a look of concentration as his fingers flew over the console. Now and then, he glanced at something on his wrist comm.

When the same older Vaxxlian from earlier called on the video comm, the two males spoke rapidly in their native tongue. All at once, Sienna realized Myadd was piloting the ship out of the ice cave. The viewscreen, previously darkened, glimmered with light and they soon emerged from the cave entirely. A fleet of Vaxxlian cruisers greeted them in the open air.

Despite the seriousness of the situation, a sense of exhilaration swept through Sienna as she peered over the icy landscape. Though she’d traveled around the galaxy, she had never once visited the arctic of her own planet.

“Whoa,” Skylar said, mirroring her thoughts.

They exchanged a quick grin. “It’s beautiful. So white and pure. A lot of craziness is occurring on Earth right now, but it’s quiet and safe here.”

“Safe?” Skylar snorted. “Our toes would freeze off in two seconds if we walked outside.”

“You know what I mean,” Sienna said with a faux glare at her friend.

“Yes, I do, and you’re right. In all my life, I never thought I would see a sight like this.”

“The arctic of New Vaxx is much more beautiful, and we have large creatures called errukkas that roam the icy plains. We can travel there one day, if you would like. They are hairy beasts that are bigger than this cruiser. Truly they are a sight to behold,” Myadd said, still focused on the dashboard. Now and then, he also exchanged words with the older Vaxxlian on the video comm.

One of the cruisers moved closer to Myadd’s before venturing out of sight. To Sienna’s surprise, he stood up and said, “Our ships are docked together. You may both come with me to the docking bay if you wish.”

Sienna and Skylar joined Myadd, following him down a corridor she hadn’t noticed before. She had thought the corridor that contained the bedrooms ended at the guest room, but there was a narrow entrance where it veered to a separate corridor of the ship that contained storage rooms, a medical bay, and the docking bay.

The joyous reunion between Skylar and Macy brought tears to Sienna’s eyes. She stood at Myadd’s side while watching the sisters hug and shed tears of happiness. He wrapped an arm around her, and she peered up at him with a smile. “I’ll never forget how you helped my friend, Myadd. Thank you again.”

“Any friend of yours is a friend of mine, my sweet human.” He leaned down and pressed a kiss to the top of her head.

When Skylar finally pulled away from Macy, she grasped her sister’s hand and led her over to Sienna and Myadd. Introductions were made. The ship shuddered slightly as the other ship undocked and moved into formation with the Vaxxlian fleet. There were several viewscreens, as well as a huge window looking into the docking bay, and Sienna couldn’t help but keep glancing outside. How quickly Vaxxlian warriors moved to help one another.

She would soon be part of their society. If Myadd didn’t react badly to the news of her pregnancy. She wavered between thinking he wouldn’t mind and fearing the worst—that he’d set her aside and take another female as his mate.

If that happened, would he send her back to Earth? Or, if she was already on New Vaxx, as a single human female, would she be expected to mate with another Vaxxlian, one willing to accept her fully human son or daughter?

“Are either of your brothers with the fleet?” she asked Myadd as they returned to the bridge. Skylar and Sienna were getting settled in the guest room, the sisters anxious to catch up with one another now that they were finally reunited, as well as safe.

His wavy dark hair shifted as he shook his head. “No. I did not wish to call upon them when they are likely busy with their new mates.” Once they reached the bridge, he paused and stared down at her, his gaze curious, his green eyes starting to glow.

Sienna remembered something Skylar had said about Vaxxlian’s eyes glowing when they were sexually attracted to a female and she flushed. He gathered her close and wrapped his arms around her, holding her tightly to his chest. She heard the beating of his heat, a steady thumping that lulled her into a relaxed state. When he was touching and holding her with such tenderness, it was easy to think he would accept her after she revealed her final secret to him.

“What is it you still need to tell me, little human?” he asked, his voice a deep rumbling murmur at her ear.

Before she could decide whether or not to answer him, the cruiser jolted and the lights dimmed. Red lights flashed on the bridge and an alarm kept sounding. Myadd tore away from her and turned to stare out the viewscreen. She followed his gaze and gasped.

A massive fleet of ships appeared in the sky, uncloaking one by one. The vessels weren’t Vaxxlian in appearance, at least Sienna didn’t think they were. Cold fear gripped her when she spotted the small but telltale logo of Alien Combat on several of the vessels.

One of the ships shot a red beam at Myadd’s cruiser and it rocked again.

Myadd hurried to the pilot’s console and his hands danced over the controls. The sound of the alarm disappeared, though the red lights kept flashing on the bridge. He looked over his shoulder at her, a fierce look of determination in his eyes.

“Get Macy and Skylar and lead them to the safe room!”

  “The what?”

“It’s through the door next to my quarters. You will all be safest there. Go! Now!”

She spun on her heel and fled the bridge.

  Chapter 17

  Fifteen ships.

Myadd still couldn’t believe Alien Combat possessed so many high-tech vessels, all with cloaking abilities and weapons that could infiltrate Vaxxlian shields. Two Vaxxlian cruisers had taken heavy damage and crashed into the ice below, though a quick scan showed all those aboard were still alive.

He aimed his ship’s blasters at the nearest enemy vessel and fired a rapid series of shots. Another nearby Vaxxlian cruiser joined him in targeting this particular vessel and it soon exploded in a fireball. The fighting continued and Myadd concentrated on taking out as many Alien Combat ships as possible.

Despite their ability to infiltrate Vaxxlian shields, the enemy vessels moved in a formation that Myadd could only describe as clumsy. Myadd and his comrades easily destroyed three more ships.

  Four down. Eleven to go.

The ship shuddered as three enemy vessels aimed their firepower Myadd’s way. He cursed and made defensive movements and finally took out one of his attackers. Just as he was about to concentrate his weaponry on the other two ships at once, a warning light on the ship’s security system flashed. An extra life sign had abruptly appeared on the ship, right in the safe room where Sienna and the other two females were located. Fluxx, no.

He cursed and jumped to his feet. He had suspected the enemy vessels might possess transporter technology, but he had erected a jamming signal around his ship to prevent any unwelcome guests. Yet somehow Alien Combat had breached the signal and beamed one of their soldiers aboard.

He pulled his blaster from his belt and fled the bridge.

Whoever dared to come near his mate would pay the ultimate price.

He would show no mercy. He only hoped he reached Sienna in time.

  No no no.

Sienna stared at Brett in disbelief. How could he be here? How the fuck had he managed to board this ship? She shook her head as he approached and put a hand up to ward him off. He paused directly in front of her, a cruel smile twisting his lips. His cold blue eyes raked over her.

He opened his mouth to speak when an object impacted the side of his head. He cursed and rubbed at his head. Sienna glanced down and saw a shoe on the floor. She looked behind the bed and saw Skylar and Macy standing there. Macy appeared frightened but Skylar’s face was a mask of fury. She chucked another shoe at Brett’s head, but the bastard ducked in time.

“Get out! Go away!” she screamed. “You aren’t welcome here!”

Sienna was both stunned and appreciative that Skylar was trying to defend her, but she hoped Brett didn’t hurt Skylar or Macy. He was here because of her.

Was he here to kill her?

She thought of the missiles and decided that must be the reason he’d beamed directly into the safe room, which was a small room that contained gleaming steel walls and no viewscreens.

She still couldn’t believe he’d appeared out of thin air, right here in the safe room. It was the stuff of nightmares, particularly when she had hoped to never see him again.

She backed away and Brett followed her, but her careful retreat into a corner allowed Macy enough room to move around the bed and reach the exit.

Macy yelled that she was going to get help and dashed out into the corridor. But Skylar stayed and glared at Brett, her fists clenched. Despite her bravery, Sienna glimpsed a flicker of fear in her eyes.

Sienna couldn’t blame her. She was scared too. Petrified.

Brett was larger than ever. He must’ve just finished another round of alien steroids. Purple veins bulged on his beefy arms, some of them looking as if they might burst. His rancid breath wafted over her, a mix of alcohol and onions. A crazed look gleamed in his eyes. She shuddered as bile rose in her throat.
