“Yes, ma'am,” he growled, and did as she said. Did it over and over, faster and harder and deeper, until they both cried out, and spun out of their heads with pleasure.
Until there was nothing in the whole world except him, and her, together, in this room. Until there was nothing but them.
Until there was nothing – and nobody – between them.

Francine was watching the snow fall outside, all relaxed and snug on Mark's astounding chest. Despite the lateness of the hour – it was going on one a.m. now – she didn't feel the slightest bit sleepy. Her whole body still buzzed from their lovemaking earlier, and her insides still tingled. She'd loved taking him without any barrier, loved having him come inside of her. She'd been amazed at how it had felt to actually feel his release, so hot and powerful. She'd felt claimed, somehow. Like she was his, really and truly.
She shifted a bit and sighed, and right away, his huge arms tightened around her. Startled, she lifted her head, stared up at him.
“I thought you were sleeping,” he said, his voice husky and deep.
“I thought you were sleeping,” she rejoined.
“Ah.” He grinned at her in the semi-darkness. “So we've both been lying here for two hours, all still and quiet, for no good reason at all?”
“Looks that way.”
“Hmmm. What a shame, especially when you consider what else we could have been doing.”
“I know.” She pressed a kiss to his chest. “I mean, we could have been playing Monopoly.”
“Right? Or baking a pie.”
“Or doing our taxes.”
Mark laughed, pulled her closer. “So. What have you been thinking about?”
Francine tipped her head. “Are you actually asking me what I was thinking?”
“Yep.”
“Isn't that the one question that all men avoid asking women?”
“Dunno.” He stroked her back, stroked her hair. “I'd like to know what you were thinking, so if I don't ask, how will I ever find out?”
“OK.” She leaned up on her hip, propped her head on her hand. “I was thinking about something that you said, and I don't think that you ever finished the thought.”
“Alright. Let's finish it now.”
“So, you remember when I said that I thought we should go our separate ways, and I asked you if one night together was enough?”
His face darkened. “Yes. Though I'm trying my damnedest to forget all of that.”
“No, not yet, 'cause you need to tell me now what you didn't tell me then. You said that you weren't with me just because of that one night. You said that that night wasn't the first thing that you thought of when you thought of me.”
“Uh-huh.”
“But you never told me what that first thing was.”
“I guess I didn't.”
“You gonna tell me now?”
“You wanna know now?”
“Very much.”
“OK. The first thing that I thought about, when I thought about you then, was the morning after we first made love.”
“Oh.” She felt oddly disappointed in that answer, for some reason. “You mean when we made love again?”
“No, not that part of the morning after.” He kissed her forehead carefully, avoiding the stitches. “I mean... I woke up and you were still sleeping, and you were all curled up against me. You were so damn lovely, and sweet, and I just lay there and watched you sleep for an hour.”
“You did?”
“I did." Mark paused. “And when you were...taken... and I didn't know where you were, my mind went to that image of you, over and over again. I thought about you sleeping in my bed, safe and warm and protected, and I held on to that picture. It was my talisman, to keep me sane. But it was also a promise that I made, to myself and to you.”
“A promise?”
“Yeah. I promised that I'd make that image of you reality again. That you'd be back in my arms, safe and warm. Soon.”
Touched beyond belief, she stared at him. “You did?”
“I did.”
Francine smiled. “And here I am. In your arms, safe and warm.”
“Here you are.” He pulled her back down to him. “And here you'll stay.”
“For now.”
He reared back. “For now?”
“Yep.”
“You got somewehere else you need to be, babe?”
“I do.” She sat up, swung her legs on to the floor, and Mark watched, dumbfounded.
“Where you going?” he asked.
She shot him a familiar sassy look over her shoulder. “To bake a pie.”
His eyes glittered, and her stomach clenched up with excitement. She didn't even try very hard to get away when he flipped her under him, and she stopped trying completely when he slid inside of her with a growl.
Mark watched her face as he thrust deep in her pussy, watched her eyes as her moans rose. He stopped, waited for her to hold his intent, intense gaze.
“I love you, babe,” he said softly. “So damn much.”
“I love you, too, mon loup.”
“Yeah.” He started to move again, harder and deeper, loving how her muscles tugged on him. “I know you do... now move, sugar. Show me how much you love me.”
And Francine did – twice more – before falling in to a sweet, dreamless sleep in Mark's arms.
Safe.
Warm.
Loved.
