  “I’m not complaining. You saved my life. Anyway, he’s likely to recover and stand trial for two killings.”

  “And it was all because his brother was trying to take the company away from him. The company he felt that by rights his father ought to have left solely to him.”

  “And that’s the same reason he killed Lavinia, she wanted to take away the family business.”

  “Fathers and sons, now there’s a relationship that really screwed up,” Charles said. He shook his head and instantly regretted it. “Look at Jack and his father, and me and my father.”

  Charles turned his head and saw the baseball bat resting across the arms of the chair.

  “I thought it deserved to be placed on display somewhere since it was instrumental in saving our lives. At least that’s one good thing your father left you.”

  Charles was about to deny it, then he paused.

  “Maybe it is. Maybe it is.”

  Glen was a professor of philosophy for over twenty-five years. Quite recently he retired from teaching at a small university in western Massachusetts. For much of that time he has also written mystery and suspense fiction, starting with books for young adults and moving on to writing for adults. He has had over thirty books published. All are amateur sleuth mysteries and suitable for any reader.

  He lives in western Massachusetts with his wife. His hobbies include reading, travel, and going to the gym. He and his wife frequently spend time in Wells, Maine and Cape May, New Jersey for their needed dose of the beach.
