“What’s up baby girl,” I ask her.

“Well, you know how we have decided we wanted to try for another baby,” she says with a smile.

Nodding, “yes…” I trail off, wondering where she is going with this.

“Well, I haven’t been feeling well so I went to my OB,” she starts.

“Okay, and what did she say,” I ask getting antsy.

“Well, we are definitely having another baby,” she says.

She barely gets the words out before I’m pulling her into my arms and kissing her roughly. I can’t believe I get to be a dad again. I’ve always wanted more kids, but even if we only ever had Zane, I would’ve been happy.

Giggling she keeps going, “well there’s a bit more I need to tell you,” she says.

I sit back down and pull her onto my lap. “Is everything okay with you and the baby,” I ask.

“Babies,” she says looking at me with happiness in her eyes.

“What do you mean babies,” I ask confused.

“Luke, we are having twins,” she says on a giggle.

I can feel the blood drain from my face. “Twins,” I mumble. I sit there for a few more moments and once I fully process I look at her. “Well, I guess I got you good didn’t I,” I wink at her.

She giggles more. “Yeah, I guess you did,” she laughs.

“You know what they say about twins right,” I ask. She shakes her head so I continue. “Double trouble,” I chuckle.

“Yes, but also remember, where there’s double the trouble, there’s also double the fun. Or a guess triple the fun since we have Zane too,” she giggles.

It’s hard to believe it’s been six years since I met and married the love of my life. Within the last five years, we’ve had four more children on top of the one we already had. Now, we have Zane who is five almost six, Delilah and Delia who are almost three, and the newest set of twins, Xavier and Xander who are getting ready to turn one.

My life is so full and at thirty-eight, I can’t imagine my life any other way. Whisper is now twenty-four and thriving as the manager of her friend Lilly's restaurant. Who knew that when they met at the ball six years ago that she would end up becoming lifelong friends and co-workers. Whisper loves what she does and she’s so good at it. The employees love her and are all a part of our family.

Who knew that a modern-day matchmaking service could really find you everything you could ever want in life?

  Whisper

  Ten years later

It’s been ten years since I married my hero. This Christmas is going to extra special since now I am carrying our eighth and ninth children. After this one, I am done and I’m making my dear husband get snipped. We have had a total of three sets of twins. Three. Sets. Of. Twins. And now I’m pregnant with yet another set. I’m twenty-eight with seven soon to be nine children.

I finally gave up on managing the restaurant. As much as I loved it, our life has become a three-ring circus, and my poor husband needed help. Lilly and I are still close and meet up for lunch every chance we get, along with Delilah and the other wives of our Christmas Ball. We have all developed lifelong friendships, and I am more than blessed.

“Luke Ryan Davis, you are in so much trouble,” I yell through the house.

My house is a pigsty, and there are six people to blame, but only one adult.

“Coming my beautiful wife,” he yells as he comes running towards me.

He stops and takes in the mess they have created. “Uh, it’s their fault,” he stammers.

“Luke! You are forty-three years old, you are the adult. Don’t blame this on the kids. I swear you’re as much of a child as they are, and now with two more coming, I’m not sure what to do with you sometimes,” I say and then cover my mouth.

“Wait, you’re pregnant again,” he asks. “And it’s two more,” he stares at me.

“Yes, you idiot. And this time, I’m making sure you go get snipped because I can’t keep doing this. I love our crazy life and our kids, but I can’t possibly take this anymore,” I scold.

He just nods his head in shock. “Anything you want, baby. I promise I’ll actually get it done this time,” he says as he kisses me.

“Ewww, daddy’s kissing mommy,” I hear four voices yell.

“Yeah, that’s how we got here and we don’t need any more babies around here,” my oldest, Zane yells.

“Zane Ryan Davis, where did you get such a crazy idea,” I yell at him.

He shrugs and points at his father. I glare over at my husband who merely shrugs his shoulders.

“What else should I have said? He’s only ten,” he questions.

I shake my head while pinching the bridge of my nose. “Please, ya’ll, just clean up your mess. I’m going to go lay down for a bit,” I say while walking towards the stairs.

I hear laughter and look back only to see my husband on the ground, wrestling all the kids. He catches my gaze and winks. Who knew that Mr. Police Officer would be such a big kid himself.

  Fifty years later

  Whisper

We are celebrating our fifty year wedding anniversary and we are surrounded by our kids, grandkids, and a few great grandkids. Our life has been so magical that I can’t even believe it’s been mine.

Looking at my husband, I still see the handsome young man he was all those years ago when I first fell in love with him. We’ve shared a lot of ups and downs, but with nine children eighteen grandchildren, and four great grandkids, how could life get any better?
