  CARL SAFINA is a MacArthur Prize winner and was named by Audubon magazine among the leading one hundred conservationists of the twentieth century. He’s been profiled by the New York Times, on Nightline, and by Bill Moyers. His books and articles have also won him a Pew Fellowship, a Lannan Literary Award, a Guggenheim Fellowship, the George B. Rabb Medal, and the John Burroughs Medal, among other distinctions. He is an adjunct professor at Stony Brook University and the founder of Blue Ocean Institute.
