"What are...?"
He stepped through the doorway, kicked the door shut, and kissed her. It all happened in a split instant. Jill hardly had time to realize what he was doing when she felt his tongue dip into her mouth, sensual and arousing. His strong arms circled her, drawing her close against his hard body.
She melted like ice on a sunny day. She was wet and wanting, and all too his.
She sighed into his mouth, snuggling against him, wanting his warmth and strength. It had only been days since he held her, but it felt like a lifetime.
"I really missed you, Jill," he murmured against her mouth. His voice held a raspy, desire-filled quality.
Her hands moved down his shoulders, absorbing the muscles there hungrily. "I really missed you, too."
"Show me," he said running his hands up and down her ribs, and then nibbling at her neck. "Show me how much you missed me."
"There's no time," she said in a hoarse voice. The feel of his lips on her neck sent sensations running through her body.
He was backing her towards the kitchen. "We'll make time." A second later he lifted her up on the counter, holding her gaze as he eased her dress up her legs. She helped with the effort, and sighed as he gently spread her thighs, and stepped between them. "Though the strawberry syrup will have to wait."
Jill wrapped her arms around his neck, feathered kisses along his jaw, and then brushed his lips with hers before moving to his neck. "I love your smell," she murmured soaking it in. "Very sexy," she said tugging at his shirt. "Please take this off."
He laughed softly and did as she asked. She drew a circle around his dark, flat nipples. "Very sexy," she said again.
He made a low sound in his throat as he bent his head and kissed her. His hands slid up her thighs and didn't stop until both his thumbs touched the lace of her panties. He pushed the material aside and stroked her, making her moan into his mouth.
Jill reached for his pants, tugging at the button, as she pulled her mouth from his. "Now, Ryan. No more foreplay needed, as I'm sure you've noticed."
He dipped a finger inside her. This time he said, "Very sexy." Jill leaned back on her hands, and shut her eyes. "You this wet for me. That's sexy," he said still moving his finger, teasing her, "and these red panties. Did you wear them for me?"
"Yes," she whispered.
His finger moved in longer strokes. "And there's a bra to match?"
She nodded, her teeth going into her bottom lip.
"I can't wait to see it."
"Later," she said. "Please Ryan. I want you."
"How?" he asked leaning towards her, slipping another finger inside her as he pressed his upper body against hers. "How do you want me?"
She grabbed his neck and pulled his mouth to hers. "Inside me."
He kissed her then, but he removed his fingers as he did, and worked to free himself from his pants. Still kissing her, he slipped her panties aside and pressed the tip of his erection inside her.
Their tongues froze as he pressed to her core. They both moaned. "You feel so good, baby," he murmured against her mouth, ever so slowly puling back and sliding back inside her.
Jill's hips arched to meet him, pressing up to take him. "Yes," she whispered but she wasn't sure the words actually made it from her mouth.
He increased the rhythm, fast and furious, both of them needing the rush of immediate pleasure after days of missing each other. He thrust as she clung, her legs wrapping around his hips and her hands going to the counter behind her for leverage.
He held her hips, pressing into her, seeming to go deeper and deeper with every stroke. Jill felt the first ripple of orgasm like a sharp jolt; it shocked her, coming before she expected it, making her yell his name.
She couldn't move, the spasms were so intense, but she didn't have to. Ryan controlled the movement, in and out with hard strokes, before he began to shudder himself. His gorgeous upper body arched, drawing Jill's hands to his chest. He threw his head back, making sounds that echoed through the room.
Would she ever get enough of Ryan Monroe?
And her body, heart, and even her mind, yelled a silent, resounding, no. Never.

She arrived at the party fashionably late, at fifteen minutes past the hour. Her dress was a bit wrinkled but considering she had had sex in it on her kitchen counter, she thought it looked pretty damn good.
She busied herself making small talk as she moved around the room. She knew the instant Ryan saw her, even though she didn't see him. His eyes felt like a sun ray, hot and heavy, on her skin. They hadn't had time to talk before the party. Ryan hardly had time to change clothes, which he had done at her place.
His suitcase had been in his car. He'd come straight from the airport. He had actually let the bigwig from BG clothing take a cab to the hotel.
Jill accepted a glass of champagne from one of the waiters as she glanced up. Ryan was standing several feet away, his eyes locked on her face. He wore a dark suit that fit him perfectly, accenting his masculine form. He looked every bit the epitome of tall, dark, and handsome.
He stood next to another man. A young guy, maybe twenty-five, with brown hair and a QC flare. Ryan said something to the man and then waved her forward. Jill hesitated. She had made love to Ryan less than an hour before. Could she look at him and not have it show?
She sighed. Better to just get this over with. Jill walked towards Ryan, aware of his gaze, and of that of the man with him. When she stopped in front of them, it was QC guy who addressed her.
He held out his hand. "Jill, it's so nice to meet you. I'm Bret Weaver from BG Clothing. I hear you're the brains behind Carlson's new campaign."
Jill's eyes went wide as she shook his hand. He wasn't what she had expected. She thought he would be old, and ... something not so GQ. "Oh, well, I had an idea that the team has run with, yes."
"Don't be so shy about it. Ryan says it was all you."
Jill eyed Ryan. He winked at her. She blushed. "It was all Jill. She has a great mind for advertising."
"Obviously." Bret smiled. "I'm opening an office here in New York," Bret said. "I might have to try and steal you away from Ryan."
Jill liked Bret instantly. And actually working for him might solve some issues. "Make me an offer I can't refuse."
Bret chuckled and elbowed Ryan. "We'll talk later."
Jill didn't look at Ryan, but she could feel his eyes on her.
Bret touched her arm. "Come dance with me. It's my birthday so I should get your first dance of the night."
Jill smiled as she glanced at the already full dance floor. "Okay." She let Bret lead her through the crowd. He held her in a gentlemanly fashion, his moves graceful and practiced as they danced. "Did you know Ryan and I went to school together?"
"No," Jill said sincerely surprised. "I had no idea."
"We're close friends." He let that linger in the air a few moments. "How long have you been seeing him?"
Jill stiffened. Did he know? Had Ryan told him? "What?"
"Don't worry. I won't tell. In all the years, I have known Ryan I have never seen him look at a woman like he looks at you." He smiled down at her. "And you look at him the same way."
Jill swallowed. "It's that obvious?"
He nodded. "That's why I offered you that job, which I am serious about, by the way. If working together is a problem, which I get the feeling it is, then that solves that. Ryan has raved about you. I love your work. It's a perfect fix."
Jill could hardly believe her ears. They talked a few more minutes, and Jill found herself confiding in him about Greg, and Lori, and her fears. It was strange, but he was really easy to talk to. Still, working for him would be a problem. He was too close to Ryan. She was opening her mouth to say so when she felt a hand on her back.
Ryan's. No question about it.
"May I cut in?"
Jill turned to look to him, silently asking him if he was crazy. "I want to dance with you," he said as if to tell her he wasn't b
acking down.
Bret released her. "Think about what I said," he told her as he turned to walk away.
Ryan pulled her into his arms. Too close. "Bret's a ladies man."
Jill frowned. "He's a nice guy, and you know it. You're friends."
Ryan laughed. "One that runs his mouth too much. I couldn't leave him here to tell you about my skeletons."
"You have skeletons?"
He grinned and nodded. "I was, admittedly, a bit wild in my college days." He bent his head near her ear. "I'm much tamer now."
His warm breath tickled her neck. She should push him away. They were way too close. But it felt nice in his arms. "I would hardly call you tame," she found herself saying. He seemed to have moved closer because their thighs were rubbing, his muscles flexing deliciously.
"I can't wait to see that red bra," he whispered.
Jill mentally shook herself and forced herself to look up at him, pulling back slightly. "Behave, damn it."
"I can't," he said spreading his fingers on her back. "You're in my arms."
He was drawing her into a seductive web. It threatened her common sense. "Ryan, please, stop."
"It's crowded. No one can see or hear." His hands moved up and down her sides. "I reserved our room."
She shut her eyes. "You did?"
"Yes. Does that make you happy?"
She nodded, but she stopped dancing. "Behave until later."
He laughed. "Until later? Later I can misbehave?"
She made a face. "Yes." Then she flipped her hair over her shoulder and turned away from him working her way through the crowd.
To her distaste she bumped smack into Greg. His hands closed down on her shoulders. "Come dance with me, Jill."
"No, Greg."
"Why? You danced with Ryan. Mighty friendly there, I might add. You were right, by the way. Someone could hear. I heard. I was dancing right by you. What room, Jill?"
Jill's stomach lurched. This couldn't be happening.
His eyes looked downright evil. "I won't tell if you spread the wealth. How about a little dance, Jill?"
She didn't like her response, but it was all that came to her. Her eyes burned and her stomach churned. "You asshole." She said under her breath but loud enough that he heard.
She jerked at her arm, discreetly but firmly. He didn't let go. Then Bret was there. "Let her go." He looked down at Jill, understanding in his eyes.
Jill didn't want to cry in front of these people. She sidestepped Greg and moved through the crowd. She managed to get to the hallway and half ran towards the lobby. She heard Ryan's voice behind her, calling her name, but she kept walking.
Chapter Thirteen
Ryan had seen Greg grab hold of Jill. He also saw Bret get to her first and rescue her. For that, he would thank Bret later. Jill had taken off through the crowd. He hadn't taken the time to find out what had happened. He simply wanted to get to Jill.
He caught her as she was about to go through the hotel doors, not even bothering to get her coat. She whirled around to face him, tears in her eyes. "Stop, Ryan. People will see. I told you that before. Lori saw us and gossiped. Greg heard us on the dance floor. I can't take this anymore. Just stop!"
Ryan didn't bother to tell her that raising her voice was only bringing more attention to them. He really didn't care. He had tipped the staff here enough, he knew they wouldn't call the cops. "Jill, come upstairs and talk to me."
She glared. "Oh great! Announce that to the world, why don't you?" Then her face crumpled and she burst into tears.
He pulled her close. "Sweetheart, I'm so sorry. Please don't cry."
She buried her face in his shoulder. "I ... I can't work for you anymore. I'm sure half the staff is watching us."
He ran his hand down the back of her hair. "Ask me if I care?"
"I..." she sniffed, "care. I've ruined my future in advertising."
"No, you haven't."
She pulled back to look at him. "I have to! You know as well as I do how word travels in this industry. I'm dead meat."
"Dead meat?" he asked trying not to laugh at her choice of words.
She punched him in the shoulder and tried to get free. "You're laughing at me. You have a job and a career. I don't."
He held her tightly, careful not to hurt her. "Stop. Please." She squirmed. Ryan waved off a doorman.
Then he dropped to one knee.
She froze. "What are you doing?"
He held her hands in his. "This is not how I had this planned, but Jill, I love you. All the success in the world doesn't mean anything without you. Will you marry me?" Ryan kissed one of her knuckles and then the other.
Jill surprised him, as he was becoming accustomed. She dropped down to her knees to face him. "What?"
He smiled, lacing his hands into her hair. "You asked me what I talked about with your mother. I told her I was going to marry you. I love you, Jill. Marry me."
Jill's hands were shaking as she balled them in his shirt. "I love you, too."
"You're killing me here, woman. Will you marry me?"
"Yes," she whispered.
He kissed her, and everyone in the lobby cheered. Jill and Ryan pulled back, looking at the crowd. He pulled her to her feet smiling at her as he did.
Leaning down to her ear, he said, "There's a very real ring in our room waiting for you. But if you want to throw in a fantasy item, like say a red bra, I can live with that." He kissed her ear. "Just in case you wondered."
