The Chauffeur Page 45

“Hell yes, we want him!” Matt says, stealing the baby from Paul, and together they fawn over their new son, and just like that, they’re a family.

“We’ll work on the legalities, and it shouldn’t take long to sort it out,” Jason assures the two new fathers.

“Baby,” he pulls me into a warm embrace, “that was undoubtedly the most beautiful thing you could have done for them. You are full of surprises.” He leaves me with Paul and the baby while he and Matt retrieve the luggage and baby items from the plane.

Jason looks back at me, and I blow him a kiss, mouthing the words he loves to hear.

  “I love you.”

  Epilogue

  Twenty Years Later…

“Are you ready to go, baby?” Jason calls out to his wife, who is running late—again. April runs down the stairs.

“Ready. Let’s go, or we’ll be late.” Jason chuckles at her comment and opens the front door.

Today is Toni’s college graduation day. Taking after her mother, she excelled in her studies, graduated with her degree and will be starting Harvard law school in the fall.

Pulling into the parking lot of Northwestern, the couple meet up with Matt, Paul and their son, Roger. Roger has been in love with Toni all their lives. He’ll be moving to Cambridge to study at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, near his fiancée.

Emily and Kyle married the year following Jason and April, and Nicole and Adam married shortly after.

Grace and Carl retired from Sector One, turning the reins over to Kyle, Emily, Nicole and Adam. Nicole was trained well by her mother in interrogation techniques and soon surpassed her mother in the ‘bad ass’ department.

Emily turned out to excel in research and given enough time and resources, can find anything or anyone. Adam became the sharp shooter of the organization and is often recruited by the CIA and FBI for specialized tasks. As usual, Kyle is the brain behind the organization, much like his father.

Between the three couples, they’ve given Carl and Grace five grandchildren to enjoy during their very active retirement.

Tom retired from the police force, and he and Maria moved to Chicago to be near their daughter and granddaughter. Jason and April bought property not far outside of Chicago and built their home, along with a lovely house for her parents to enjoy their retirement near their only granddaughter.

Garrett and Rita, who never had children of their own, are still with Carl and Grace and have adopted not only the Rowe children but the grandchildren, as well.

Sam and Sue never married, but have been living together since shortly after they met at April’s pool party twenty years ago. Sue is still Jason’s personal assistant, and Sam now owns the limousine service, buying it at auction. They have two sets of twins, three boys, and a girl.

But today is about Antoinette. As Jason and April watch their only child walk across the stage, she’s introduced as graduating Summa Cum Laude.

After the long ceremony ends, the families meet on the lawn to congratulate the new graduate. Having made plans to meet at the Rowe estate for Toni’s graduation party, April pulls Jason aside and looks into his eyes.

“Jason?” she begins, taking him by his arm.

  “Yeah, baby?”

“I have something to tell you.”

  “Yeah?”

  “Um … I’m pregnant.”

April bends over her unconscious husband and reminds him, “It’s all right, Jason. Everything is going to be just fine.”

  One Last Thing...

I hope you have enjoyed April and Jason’s journey.

If you liked this book, I’d be very grateful if you’d post a short review on Amazon…It makes a difference!
