“Why else would we have met? The fates intervened and threw us together. We share this fascination with the sea—and the sea brought us together in our past life. And it must be more than a coincidence that we have these names that have been handed down through time.” Reaching up, he touched her mouth. “I'm going to need lots of help, you know? I've been too long on my own, but now I know why I waited. I was waiting for you. My other half—my soul mate.”

Brigid slid forward onto her knees and into her Viking’s arms. “I’m here for you, my darling. And always will be,” she whispered before their lips met. Rolf stood and scoped her into his arms, and together they fell onto the bed.

  Epilogue

Leaning on the railing of the lighthouse, Rolf sighed with pleasure as he gazed at the ocean far below. The morning sun was warm on his head. A pair of arms crept round his chest and his love pressed her face onto his back. Going on tiptoe, she kissed the nape of his neck.

“I’m so glad you decided to keep the lighthouse, Rolf. I love our house down on the sea front, but it’s so nice to come here sometimes.”

Rolf turned and pulled her into his embrace. “And what a great idea of yours to let the lighthouse out to summer visitors, my darling. Most find the setting unusually appealing, especially the old seafaring types who are like this old codger here and love to be near the sea. And the artistic couple who come here for inspiration certainly love it.”

Hanno chose that moment to poke his head between them. Brigid laughed and patted his head. “I know, boy, you want to go for a run, don’t you?” The dog’s tail wagged fit to drop off. “Just one moment and then we’ll go. But first, I have something to do.”

She cupped Rolf’s chin as their lips met and it was the same as it always was, always had been through time, in the past and into the present, and would be in the future. Theirs was an everlasting love.

Award winning author Tricia McGill was born in London, England, and moved to Australia many years ago, settling near Melbourne. The youngest in a large, loving family she was never lonely or alone. Surrounded by avid readers, who encouraged her to read from an early age, is it any wonder she became a writer? The local library was a treasure trove and magical world of discovery through her childhood and growing years. Although her published works cross sub-genres, romance is always at their heart.

Tricia’s love of animals has always shown up in her books. Tricia devotes as much time and money as she can spare to supporting worldwide conservation groups and is passionate about supporting those who do all they can to preserve our wildlife for future generations, especially elephants and orangutans who seem to be getting the raw end of the deal even in this enlightened age. She also volunteers for a local community group that helps disabled adults and children to connect to the internet with provided computer equipment. When people ask what she does in her spare time she is heard to ask, “Spare time, what is that?”
