Chains Page 2

  “Enough!”

Eyes wide, Saiven snapped his head up and stared, afraid he had done something wrong.

Chest heaving, Faolan reached up to grab the chains that bound him. Saiven stood, thinking perhaps he was to be granted another kiss, but this time the giant remained on his feet.

  “Faolan?”

Those amber eyes glowed in the firelight as he wrenched the chains from the wall.

Saiven stumbled backward and fell to the floor.

Faolan grasped the cuffs about his wrists and snapped them off, tossing them to the stone. The impact rang through the dungeon and Saiven scrambled away, colliding with the wall on the other end of the cell.

“Relax, Saiven.” The demon approached, crouched before him. “I will never harm you.”

Trembling, he glanced at the ruined chains, at the broken shackles. “You were always able to free yourself?”

  He nodded.

Saiven hugged his knees to his chest. “You... You just needed me to open the door, then?”

“I would never use you that way.” He reached out, closed long fingers around Saiven’s ankle, and dragged him close. Saiven lost his balance and fell back, but Faolan’s palm caught his head before it could hit the stone. “I never imagined you could be so gifted. I had every intention of allowing you to take your fill of me, but now I must have my fill of you.”

He did not seem angry, nor devious. What was happening?

Faolan stretched his large body over him and captured his lips in another kiss.

This was not at all demon-like. His mouth was gentle as it soothed the tremors from Saiven’s body. Their tongues danced as he tasted and drank.

Saiven couldn’t keep himself from moaning.

Nimble fingers slid free the leather belt at the waist of his tunic and eased the garment off over his head. They skimmed along his chest and stomach as Faolan murmured incomprehensible words that held the tone of approval.

With his clothes on, Saiven knew he appeared frail. But having six older brothers had taught him to defend himself, casting his body in corded muscle. The hunger in Faolan’s gaze made him thankful for the strife.

Straightening, Faolan traced the scars on Saiven’s torso. A low, dark growl flowed out of him as he gripped Saiven’s shoulder and turned him over.

The shock of stone against his bare chest and his own rising fear made him gasp, but Faolan only touched his lips to the deeper scars carved into his back.

He closed his eyes, remembering every whipping, every beating he’d ever endured.

Husky words in his ear cleansed his mind of those painful thoughts. “You know now what it is to kiss a man, and you enjoyed that. You also know what it is to taste a man, and I daresay you enjoyed that as well. I ask you, my Saiven, would you like to know what it is to join with a man?”

His Saiven? Shivering, he surrendered himself with a single word. “Yes.”

“Such a brave young prince,” murmured Faolan. He stripped him of his breeches, then rose off of him.

His departure iced Saiven to the bone. He pushed himself to his knees, turning in time to see Faolan settle himself—legs outstretched—against the wall.

Not knowing what was expected of him, Saiven sat back on his heels. His gaze dipped to the pillar of flesh rising from between the other man’s legs.

Faolan spat on his hand and slicked his fist over his cock, making it shine gloriously. “Come here.”

Saiven crawled forward, and Faolan scooped him up to place him on his lap. His broad chest pressed into Saiven’s back, and that insistent shaft nestled against the line of his buttocks.

“I do not want your body to attain more scars by fucking on this ragged floor. So I’ll take you this way. Understand?”

“No.” He tried to turn around, but found himself held firm.

“Will you trust me, even without understanding?”

The tension seeped from his limbs. “Yes.”

Faolan pressed warm lips to his cheek, his shoulder. His forearm slid beneath Saiven’s thighs and lifted him into the air.

Panicked, Saiven struggled a moment before remembering he’d given his word to trust the man who held him. He forced himself still, to submit to this unnatural strength, although he couldn’t steady his heart as it pounded against his ribs.

“So light.” Faolan brought him closer, guiding Saiven’s chaste hole to the head of his cock. “I’ll be gentle and disciplined with my passion, but know that at the moment I am not inclined to be either. You set my body afire, Saiven.”

Those words made him shudder with pleasure, nearly spurred him to loose his seed.

Slowly, Faolan lowered Saiven’s body. The mammoth cock speared his tight anus, and pain made Saiven squeeze his eyes shut as he thought he might be torn apart. But Foalan’s lips on the curve his neck, his cheek, coaxed him to breathe, and the breathing allowed him to open his eyes as his body urged Faolan deeper.

Faolan hissed and eased him downward. “You are a fine sheath.”

A myriad of sounds he’d never made before escaped his mouth as he reached behind him, tangled his hands into Faolan’s hair. The cool locks twined around his fingers like silken thread.

Saiven cried out when he felt his balls rest atop Faolan’s.

The two were motionless for several breaths, allowing him to savor his first joining with a man. But soon he grew restless, rocking himself as he rode Faolan’s strength.

Snarling, Faolan lifted him up, only to impale him again. He effortlessly controlled Saiven’s body as he slid it up and down his massive organ.

Saiven whispered his name as if it were the most sacred of prayers.

Faolan rammed his hips upward, adding raw power to the penetration. Shifting his hold, he reached around with one of his hands and stroked Saiven’s staff in harmony with the thrusts.

His balls churned wildly, and his frenzied mind couldn’t encompass the rising intensity tearing through his body. Faolan thrust into him with ever quickening ferocity, sending spasms of bliss quaking down to his very toes. His vision blurred, went white in the moment of explosion. His seed shot from his cock in violent, exquisite bursts.

Just as the blindness began to pass, Faolan convulsed. A roar of ecstasy thundered out of him, shaking the walls around them as he pumped his passion into Saiven. His powerful arms locked tight and he slumped forward.

The weight atop him brought him warmth and comfort, and Saiven closed his eyes, cherishing the alien sensations as he recovered from their joining.

Gradually, Faolan stirred to life once more and straightened. “I’m sorry. Are you hurt?”

Too exhausted to speak, he merely shook his head.

Faolan separated their bodies, held Saiven against him as they stretched out over the floor. “You’ve earned a wish, young prince.”

Saiven tilted his head back, blinked up at him.

A smile ghosted on his sinful mouth. “Say the word and I will reduce this castle to rubble and bathe the stones in your father’s blood.”

So vicious—he truly was a demon. Yet Saiven found himself nestling closer. “No. I only wanted you to be free of this dungeon, and you’ve already granted that wish.”

“What a treasure you are.” Faolan stroked his hair. “Come with me.”

Despite his fatigue, Saiven’s body started in surprise. “With you?”

“Leave this place behind forever. Cast off the chains that bind you.”

The entreaty made him gasp, cracked open his empty existence to grant him a moment of joy.

But what he said was not what he wanted. “I cannot. My father despises me, but I belong to him. If I should vanish, he would track us until he found me.” He didn’t know anything about Faolan, but he cared for him, demon or no. He would not subject him to the king’s wrath.

Faolan took hold of the amber pendant around Saiven’s neck and snapped it free. “No human can track Faolan of the Black Mist.” He hurled it against the wall, shattering the stone into
a thousand pieces. “Allow me to spirit you away from here.”

Saiven glided his knuckles over Faolan’s heart. “Why would you want me?”

A heavy breath ruffled his hair. “I’ve watched you, Saiven, for many years. I’ve seen you climb onto the highest parapets and tilt your head back to bask in the night sky. I’ve seen you show greater kindness to your subjects than any member of your family has ever shown to you. It was no accident that I was captured by your father’s men, thrown into your father’s dungeon. I came to this cold, dank place to free you.”

His brow furrowed as he struggled to understand. “You watched me?”

“You and I were meant to join. It was written in the stars, into my very soul.”

He tried to push away, but Faolan held him fast. “What are you?”

“Your clerics are half right. I’m an immortal possessed of great power, but I am no demon.”

Immortal. Tales of humans coupling with such beings never ended well. Saiven’s readings had taught him that lesson. “Then our story is a tragedy.”

“Such sad words.” Faolan touched the black lines that engulfed his shoulder. “I have the ability to change you into what I am.”

Saiven’s apprehension must have shown clearly on his face, because Faolan dropped his hand.

“I won’t force you to accept the gift I offer.” He brushed the pad of his thumb over Saiven’s lips. “I’ve waited an eternity to be with you, Saiven. I can feel your misery a thousand leagues away. We were meant to join, but I’ll allow you to live anywhere in this world as long as you are happy.”

Freedom. From this place, from his father, from his very title. It was something he’d never wished for, because he’d never even considered the possibility. As he tried to imagine a freedom of his own, he discovered that there was only one true wish left within him. “You and I will always be together?”

  Faolan smiled, nodded.

  “That is what I want.”

Pressing a palm to the mark on his shoulder, Faolan drew forth a trail of black mist that enveloped their bodies, filling the cavern with inviolable joy.

Before this night, Saiven had been shackled within a prison of his own, trapped behind invisible bars and invisible locks. As he breathed in the sweet essence of Faolan’s magic, he felt himself changing, shedding everything he’d believed about this world to embrace one he had been yearning for all his life.

Free to love one of his heart’s own choosing, Saiven cast off the chains that bound him.

  About Rowan McBride

Born an Air Force dependent, Rowan McBride traveled the world and totally missed the 80’s as most Americans know it. In exchange, xe’s gotten to walk in clogs, break an arm at Mt. Fuji, and say prayers at a Korean Buddhist temple. So far it seems like a fair trade. Although xe graduated from high school in Hawaii, xe didn’t learn to hula and make leis until going to college in Iowa. After leaving the Midwest, xe moved to Washington, DC and very nearly got xemself a Juris Doctor degree. Now xe’s chilling out in Texas, diabolically planning road trips that could span years.

People say xyr life is random, and that’s probably true. Rowan comforts xemself with the working theory that a random life makes for good stories. When that doesn’t work, there’s Pocky. Lots and lots of Pocky.
